	<a href="https://archidekt.com/decks/4696863/amareth" ipsnoembed="true" rel="external nofollow">https://archidekt.com/decks/4696863/amareth</a>
</p>

<p>
	Well, the MTG section has been dead for a while, so lets do a thing.
</p>

<p>
	First EDH/Commander deck I built when getting into Commander. Hasn't had many opportunities to be used, but playtesting it against my other decks has been fun.
</p>

<p>
	Face of the deck is of course, "Amareth, the Lustrous". 6/6 for 6 is par for the course, and provides fairly consistent card advantage. Only is a problem when an Instant or Sorcery shows on top.
</p>

<p>
	The land base is kinda bad, kinda good. Bad because I don't want spend money on the actual good fetchlands, so the bad ones have to do, good because 24 (11 non-basic/13 basic) are fetchable by Karametra and the slow fetches (Krosan Verge/Flood Plain/Grassland). So, mana base can use some tweaking, but is serviceable.
</p>

<p>
	Next category is all my card draw. The deck is technically part blue so lets draw lots of cards. Lots of fun stuff, card draw is the most powerful mechanic so the quicker you accidentally deck yourself the more fun you have..
</p>

<p>
	Then we move to the "No Touchy". These are the cards which help get me out of bad spots or just make it harder for my opponent to touch me or my stuff. Leyline fo Sanctity to prevent me being targeted, Teferi to ensure my turn is my turn, and Ghostly Prison and Sphere of Safety to make it so I don't get hit unless my opponent is playing infinite mana.
</p>

<p>
	Next is short, "Pump" is just I want my stuff to be bigger. As such it is small. Potentially lots of dice.
</p>

<p>
	"Cost Reduction" is self-explanatory. I don't want to pay full price for my stuff. Heliod can make all my stuff be a cheap End Step surprise, and Tamiyo is the "eh, lets rob the shop" discount.
</p>

<p>
	"Ramp" is all my non-land mana and land acceleration. Karametra gets a Plains or a Forest per cast creature, Smothering Tithe poses the annoying question "Do you pay the 2?", Mirai's Wake and Zendikar Resurgent generally "double" my mana and give an additional bonus, Spelunking makes my tap lands, not be tapped. Sol Ring is Sol Ring, And Sanctum Weaver is ideally "<i>add mana equal to your permanents</i>".
</p>

<p>
	Next it the ever fun looping. Get out these three cards and play something that isn't and artifact and loop however many triggers on Boon of the Spirit Realm, or Setessan Champion you want.
</p>

<p>
	"Recursion" is another self-explanatory title. You don't want your stuff in the bin, you want it ready to beat face. So if it goes in the bin you want a way to get it out of the bin.
</p>

<p>
	Now the fun bit. The two cards which don't really help the whole enchantment theme, but is there to meme once or twice then never again. It is maybe missing a piece depending on how mean I really want to be in <a href="https://scryfall.com/card/clb/722/fractured-sanity" rel="external nofollow">Fractured Sanity</a>. But Get out It that Betrays and the -4 The Eternal Wanderer and take all but one of your opponents things. The Fractured Sanity tech would allow giving each opponent a Starfield of Nyx, which when combined with Enchanted Evening would let me get all the stuff (exculding lands, unless they have an anthem effect).
</p>

<p>
	The "Token Makers" section is something you can pry from my cold Selesnya fingers. They are my tokens, I will make them and I will make a lot of them. The Wilds of Eldraine gave me Yenna, so I will ignore the fact that Commander is suppose to be a singleton format and play with 3 or more copies of Doubling Season and ideally no-one will stop me. Sure, does this backfire after I realise that maybe making 8 tokens gives me 8 times the number of ETB triggers? Yes, but I'll do it anyway, because going wide is fun. Going wide while effectively giving all your creatures an additional +64/+64 per instance of Token creature is better. Doubling Season was a mistake of a card.
</p>

<p>
	Then we have the "Voltron" stuff. Just things to help Amareth kill better, Spirit Mantle for Creature immunity, Swiftfoot Boots for opponent targeting immunity, All that Glitters to be real big, Celestial Mantle because big life number funny.
</p>

<p>
	And finally "Insurance". The only card aside from Amareth do have it's own dedicated section (ignore Mist of Lórien, it's 2am at time of writing and I can't be bothered assigning it somewhere else), Faith Healer exists entirely to give an on command exit after I accidently got myself stuck in an infinite loop of Enchanted Evening + Ajani's Chosen. The cats enter and see that they are enchantments, and so trigger their own ability, making a Cat Token that is now also and enchantment, thus causing another trigger. Also there top give a quick way to get Setessan Champion of the board so I don't deck myself.
</p>

<p>
	Does the deck immediately die to mass enchantment removal? Yes. Does Enchanted Evening exist to make Farewell an everybody is losing everything card? Also yes. Have I though of putting in instant speed mass enchantment removal so I can Flare of Fortitude/Galadriel's Dismissal my stuff before I commit war crimes? Once again yes. Should I run more blue for counter spells? Probably. Do I need to get Concordant Crossroads so The Eternal Wanderer + it That Betrays can be an actual wincon? Yes.
</p>

</p>

<p>
	So guys, we did it. This is my first full-on cedh build (otherwise I just play UB control with consult thoracle combo) so if anyone has experience with this top-end of the format I would love advice.
</p>

<p>
	Wincon is Dramatic Scepter combo, then using Gnostro to scry into Aetherflux Reservoir or Brain Freeze, I have redundancy to work around eldrazi titans/yasharn as well as having praetor's grasp hit a single wincon.
</p>

<p>
	With the right hand this is pretty easily a turn 3 deck, probably aims for 5-6 most games.

<p>
	<a href="https://archidekt.com/decks/1007251#Balanced_Mutation" ipsnoembed="true" rel="external nofollow">https://archidekt.com/decks/1007251#Balanced_Mutation</a>
</p>

<p>
	This deck is my baby that I desperately want to see thrive.
</p>

<p>
	Uses Vadrok to cast Restore Balance, Retribution of the Meek, or Citywide Bust to deal with opposing threats, giving me time to reach a combo win. Creatures that can bounce themselves allow me to consistently re-mutate vadrok, if I want to build up advantage with something like Sevinne's Reclamation.
</p>

<p>
	Combos to win with are dramatic scepter (ultimately resulting in making opponents draw out through ancestral visions) and looping dockside, vadrok, and snap to generate infinite mama (ultimately resulting in making opponents draw out through ancestral visions). What do I do if they have hexproof? Iunno, try chaos warping whatever gave them hexproof? I guess?
</p>

<p>
	I could definitely do with increasing the amount of interaction in the list, probably something like silence, swan song, flusterstorm, or miscast to help protect my combo, but it is difficult to find cuts in this sort of cobbled-together brew.

<p>
	Figured if I'm going to comment on other people's decks I should probably submit one of my own.
</p>

<p>
	Here's a list that's mostly still in the drafting and goldfishing phase. I've been wanting to continue my foray into Kamigawa legends after working on a <a href="https://www.moxfield.com/decks/xq0KC7KmIUuZscnHLJFsoA" rel="external nofollow">Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant list</a> for awhile. Death Aspect's expected use according to most sites I looked at is this "dump 20 spirits and win by Mortal Combat" pile that barely works, but I also found some Duel EDH lists that basically use Iname as a Buried Alive, and a lot of the spirits those decks were using seemed great in an aristocrats deck. The biggest problem I'm coming across is that, well, I've never really built aristocrats before, so I'm not entirely sure if I'm missing anything, whether that's traps deckbuilding can run into or hidden gems. So that's mostly what I'm looking for by posting it here, is another set of eyes.

	I wanna call this tempo, but as a mainly YGO player, I'm not great with decktypes like that.
</p>

<p>
	Main wincon is commander damage or simply having more advantage than others can really handle. Mana base is imperfect, but it's a matter of getting my hands on what I need for it.
</p>

<p>
	Ramos is pretty much secondary commander here, serving as a near wincon on its own.
</p>

<p>
	I will also say the #1 deck I play against is Karador, so the deck does have a decent lean against it.

<p>
	I wrote this up a little while ago and figured I could post it here to see what people think.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I've always enjoyed building commander decks and the new Athreos really excited me as a fun build around to make a deck idea I've had really come together, mono-interaction. Since the card is still really fresh and not a lot of references exist to help with building him I thought I'd try my hand at writing up my thought process in putting together my take on what an Athreos deck could look like
</p>

<p>
	-Why Athreos
</p>

<p>
	As I said the starting line for the deck was to play as many interaction cards as possible. That would push me towards WB since it has the strongest interaction pieces. None of the existing commander options really felt like it would work for the deck though. Playing a million pieces of removal is good at shutting down what the opponents might be doing, but it doesn't do much to move you ahead. Thats where Athreos comes in. I feel Athreos does a lot to patch up that weakness since turning your removal into permanent Mind Control effects allows you to move further and further ahead as you push your opponents further and further back.
</p>

<p>
	-The targeted removal spells 11
</p>

<p>
	This was the obvious place to start since WB has some of the best “remove anything” answers. Despark, Anguished Unmaking, Vindicate, Utter End, and Generous Gift are the obvious go to removal spells since they are universal. Pass that White also offers Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile as hyper efficient removal options. Since I'm pushing the theme to 11 I'm rounding it out with Dismember, Go for the Throat, Victim of the Night and Reprisal. All of these have various limits on what they can answer, but their efficiency makes up for the restrictions.
</p>

<p>
	-The wraths 9
</p>

<p>
	One for one removal is powerful because it is often really cheap, but in commander you can still fall behind if that’s all you’re doing. Luckily WB also offers the best ways to clear a board of anything. Merciless Eviction, Austere Commander, and Cleansing Nova can all pick what you clear depending on what the board state demands while Hour of Revelation is a no questions “everything is gone” button. Tragic Arrogance also falls into the destroy everything group and while it might sometimes miss something important it will more often than not get rid of everything you want and unlike Hour you’ll still get to keep your best cards. To supplement this Toxic Deluge and Day of Judgement are cheaper clear options, Rout flexible, and Decree of Pain serves as both removal and draw.
</p>

<p>
	-The creature based removal 18
</p>

<p>
	One of the things that really makes Athreos powerful is that it not only lets you steal whatever it is you’re killing, it also lets you get even more value out of creature ETBs and death triggers. To keep on theme I decided to focus on creatures that removed things when they come in. If you aren't grinding your opponents out by using their stuff against them, getting multiple uses out of an ETB that destroys something should do the trick. The first group I want to highlight are the ones that can send themselves to the yard making it easier to get value out of them with Athreos. Bounty Agent, Mangara of Corondor, and Magus of the Disk are a turn delayed but represent pretty powerful repeated removal. Agent is the weakest, but it is cheap to set up and in a format of legendary creatures it will always have a target. Banewhip Punisher and Necrotic Sliver don't have a turn delay ( though Necrotic is mana intensive) and lastly Bone Shredder is just really easy to loop if you want to and still fine without Athreos. Shadowborn Demon can also eat himself depending on where you are in the game so it too can act as an easily repeatable removal source. Past that Ashen Rider, Angel of Despair, Meteor Golem and Cavalier of Dawn are more universal answers, Luminate Primordial provides a controlled culling and Ravenous Chupacabra and Big Game Hunter are just efficient as far as the creatures that eat other creatures go. Lastly Cavalier of Night and the edict trio (Fleshbag Marauder, Merciless Executioner, and Plaguecrafter) can kill off one of my creatures I’ve given gold to while also helping to deal with my opponents boards.
</p>

<p>
	-The card flow 11
</p>

<p>
	In order to keep killing stuff you need a steady stream of cards coming in and this is where Black shines. Phyrexian Arena, Necropotence, and Greed provide a constant stream of cards and Promise of Power gives you a nice burst for a pretty reasonable rate. Wretched Confluence gives less but it more versatile since it can be a removal spell or to just rebuy my removal creatures. Liliana, Dreadhorde General also provides draw that doubles as removal while also resetting my creatures with a gold counter. I’m playing Disciple of Bolas, Sidisi, Undead Vizier, and Diabolic Intent for similar reasons. Lastly Harvester of Souls rewards me even more for doing what my deck wants to do while Mind’s Eye is just kind of a catch all even if it is a little mana intensive.
</p>

<p>
	-Mana Acceleration 10
</p>

<p>
	Over all the deck needs a healthy amount of mana with a commander at 6 and a number of expensive cards I’m looking to get out. As such a healthy number of mana rocks is in order. None of them are honestly that surprising. Sol Ring, both Signets (Orzhov and Arcane), Talisman of Hierarchy, and Mind Stone are standard fair. I like Everflowing Chalice for the ability to have it make more mana later and Coalition Relic and Worn Power Stone can enable a turn 4 Athreos. Lastly Knight of the White Orchid and Solemn Simulacrum provide ramp that I can get a little more value out of with Athreos if I have nothing better to put a gold counter on.
</p>

<p>
	-Miscellaneous 4
</p>

<p>
	That covers the vast majority of the deck. All that remains are a handful of cards that don’t really fall into any of the above categories. Strionic Resonator lets me get more value out of Atheros. Dance of the Dead abuses the fact that he can return stuff even if they get exiled with Karmic Guide acting as a secondary way to keep rebuying my dead creatures and thanks to Echo plays very well with Athreos. Lastly Vedalken Orrery is right at home here since it gives me a lot more flexibility on how I use my removal since most is sorcery speed.
</p>

<p>
	-Lands 36
</p>

<p>
	The mana base is pretty standard and not worth delving much. Mostly whatever I felt was good but not super expensive. For utility lands Myriad Landscape and Temple of the False God can get Athreos out a little faster, Bojuka Bog is always nice to have, and Castle Locthwain is pretty free to include and provides a little bit of extra card flow in a pinch.
</p>

<p>
	Put it all together and this is the deck list.
</p>

<p>
	<a href="https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/28-12-19-athreos-edh/" ipsnoembed="false" rel="external nofollow">https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/28-12-19-athreos-edh/</a>
</p>

<p>
	And in a bit over 1000 words that what is my initial take on building Athreos. I built the deck because I wanted to play a deck that was nothing but removal and adding Lili and Confluence into the count the deck has 40 cards that can interact with what my opponents are doing. So, mission accomplished. This is very likely too much though, but for the start line I’d rather start high and cut the weaker stuff as I play test and patch whatever holes the deck might have. Over all though, I think this is a solid place to start. The pillars of any deck are three things; mana, interaction, and card flow and this deck certainly does a good job checking all those things off. At the very least you should always be ready to answer whatever it is your opponent does.

	This is a MTG EDH Commander deck. This deck is a Legendary Tribal deck that focuses around getting creatures with keywords on the field to deal massive damage to opponents. Plays aggressively and beat the pulp out of your opponents, quickly. Cards like entomb, buried alive, jarad's orders is in the deck to thin the deck while getting cards like brawn, anger, filth, genesis and etc. to give creatures on the field keywords.

	<ol>
<li>
			Are there enough bombs? Deck feels highly synergistic to me on first pass, but afraid that there's not enough raw power.
		</li>
		<li>
			How about enough card draw?
		</li>
		<li>
			And removal?

<p>
	My favorite deck, bit of a personal project I've been fine-tuning for more than a year at this point (almost 2, actually). Never seen anything like it before, think I may have created something unique(ly awful).
</p>

<p>
	Game plan is: Stick value creature, give it double strike with your Bruse Tarl and DECK them (no, not the no cards in library way; The good old-fashioned, as-Richard-Garfield-intended way). This deck aims to get around the problem combat-based decks have of gassing out by using creatures like Dragonlord Ojutai and Sphinx Ambassador to gain card and board advantage whenever they connect, since double strike will give you 2 such triggers in combat, all while having the added benefit of smacking your opponent for a million damage.
</p>

<p>
	Currently looking for feedback to help tighten up the deck a little bit, just make it slightly more resilient to disruption and maybe loosen up the tip end a bit (SEVEN 6-drops, yo). This deck plays WAY better than it has any right to and I'm often stunned it works as efficiently as it does, but it can always improve. Lemme know what you think, lads.

<p>
	Simple deck I threw together today with the release of RNA on MtG: Arena. It's basically Elfball plus the crazy Jellyfish Hydra Beast refilling your hand and replenishing your health. Needs a lot of refining, I'm considering adding an Immortal Sun, but it might too lategame. Deck snowballs hard when unchecked like Elfball does, but probably collapses to good removal. Simic Ascendancy is actually possible to pull off when played lategame with multiple Hydroid Krasis, but I don't think it's actually practical in most cases.
