  1. And they said we wouldn't get any fresh blood on this site. Except I'm pretty sure nobody said that. I did think it though. Whatever the case you sure showed them!

Welcome aboard, lad. Read the rules, be good, and enjoy your time here.

Never heard of it. 7/10 tbh, with some modern-day polishing up and new instruments this could be pretty damn good.

People who try to post for high scores (anything past an 8) seldom get them in my experience. I'm hard to impress and don't seem to share much taste in music with the vast majority of this forum.

3/10, I was never all that nuts about Utada to begin with, but she'd be better off by magnitudes working alone is what I got from this. I'd say something like "such vocal talent being wasted like that can only be compared to the likes of Lady Gaga", but Gaga still puts out some pretty stellar songs, especially for the radio pop type of music she does.

OP's suggestion, this time it's a two-for-one deal for reasons. But they're both by the same band so I guess it's more of a band spotlight? ...should I do those? ?

I rated the original version of this song 7/10 once on the old site (thanks Mirei), but this is more my style. Not my favorite Nevermore song by any means, but still a solid 8/10. The reason this one's a two-parter though is because posting a cover of a song somebody posted in an old thread for my suggestion just didn't sit well with me when that was the intent. I just really like that Nevermore really made this their own and felt like sharing. So I will now proceed to rate my actual suggestion, which is also by Nevermore, and it's my favorite song by them and also the one that introduced me to them.

Did I post this on the old site? I feel like I might have. Oh well, new site who cares (and it's my thread anyway). 10/10, that chorus tho.

This certainly isn't what I expected. Which, given it's IOSYS, I should have expected. It's like a weird mix of stuff that's really really good, and some elements that are... questionable. Doesn't help much that I can't tell what it's meant to be a remix of. 6/10

    OP's suggestion, also from IOSYS

    10/10

"According to my findings, the casino in question that Perry Colarata owns was once in the possession by a mob boss that ran a shady business. However, it seems unlike the previous owner, the current one..."

VEX's explanation of the situation sounded awful familiar. Hadn't he said exactly this just a few days ago when Gavin first got involved in the investigation? A recap doesn't hurt, I guess. Colarata himself seemed fine so far, of course, but still somebody that she had some questions for. It was his mystery associate and the former casino owner she was most interested in.

"You got any ideas on how to continue, Snow Angel?"

Aurora nodded. "It doesn't sound like we know anything about this Silver guy, but we do know who Colarata bought the casino from, right? Some more research on that guy would maybe be a good start. As much as I'd like to ask Colarata about the mob boss and Silver face-to-face, that might not fly over so well. At least at the start, we should try to keep it subtle."

  5. 4ys06lN.png

    "Alright then. That is fine."

Natsumi gave the girl a contended nod, as Zirco went off on his tirade about wanting to duel Leiko. And honestly, while Natsumi would understand if others were frustrated about her being in the project for less than a year, Natsumi didn't feel that same frustration. If anything, she felt concern that Leiko could be inexperienced, the weakest link, a burden to the others. Natsumi wanted to watch this duel, if only to confirm that her suspicions were simply a bad feeling with no truth behind them. And so, Natsumi followed Zirco and Shannon to the garage.

Shannon's grandstanding gave Natsumi some doubts about her position as the leader, she had to admit. Having the best interests of the group was good and all, but this was a duel meant to be between Zirco and Leiko. However, both parties seemed adamant about precisely that. This was good. She'd be able to see just what Leiko was capable of as a duelist.

She had a bit of a crowd too, including Hotaru, Shannon, the respective duel spirits she could see lurking around the two, and of course, Natsumi herself. Still no sign of Scrap Worm though. Just what was that cretin up to? Whatever it was, it couldn't be that important. Shannon's duel spirit, meanwhile, had a question more relevant to the current happenings.

"... Do you really think she can do it?"

Shannon didn't seem sure about it. Natsumi was doing her best to not answer the question, to not interact with duel spirits. Shannon answering didn't make working out a way to word her thoughts without acknowledging the spirits any easier.

"Confidence is a start. I get being mad since she's been in the project for such a short time, but the bigger concern should be if she can pull her weight."

"HAHAAA! Jackpot!" A dumpster! Or rather, a whole bunch of really large dumpsters! They were all lined up behind the building in a neat little line, containing all matter of junk from the repurposing of this place. Here, he could feast to his heart's content! For now anyway. That discarded concrete sure did look appetizing.

"Yeah, totally understand. You've been here a bit longer than I, so of course you've become plenty busy. As for the information, let's get VEX out here and we'll talk. Yo VEX."

Aurora looked at Gavin's watch, awaiting a response from VEX. Only to be met with silence.

    "VEX?"

Eventually, he came back. Was he busy with something? Maybe it was because they weren't exactly rampant in her world, but Aurora couldn't fathom what a sentient AI would be up to with its free time when it was confined to a watch.

"Ms. Aurora, what would you wish to know about the current situation?"

"I wanted to know if you've managed to dig up any extra info on Colarata and his casino, or that mystery associate you said he had. Especially our mystery man." As much as Aurora wanted to bring these potential findings to the police, she couldn't help but feel like that might not work out. Going to officials with certain issues hadn't done her any good so far, so it was best to just do the very thing she aspired to back home, be a hero, and solve the problem herself.

"U-um, hello? Er, who are you? I don't want any trouble so whatever you need I'll give it to you okay? Just don't beat me up, please."

A Flygon had answered the door when Marie knocked. A rather sheepish-loking one at that. This sudden group of guests seemed to be making him nervbous. Not that Nani entirely blamed him. He also seemed to be the of the idea that they might hurt him? Or at least, Randy in particular might. Rough looks must have had that effect on people. Books and covers and all.

"Relax kid, we aren't here to hurt you. We actually just got to Trailsau, so we aren't too bad. I'm Randy, this is Marie, the laid-back guy is Keanu, and the mysterious one is Nani. We were...well...I guess Marie here, was curious on why this place was away from all that. Buuuuuut, something tells me that we probably just found out the reason..."

"Randy," Nani quietly said, leaning over toward the Incineroar, one foot alight with pretty pink power. The Mimikyu delivered a light kick to his shin, coupled with a stern "Don't judge a book by its cover. You of all people should know that." Maybe this Flygon wasn't everything he seemed to be? It wasn't impossible that he in fact was, but Nani didn't like drawing up conclusions just based on somebody's appearance. More importantly, they weren't just here for sightseeing. Not that it looked like there would be many sights to see, bar the volcano she could make out in the back.

They were here to look for someone and check up on them.

"That's part of why we're here anyway," Nani added to Randy's assessment of their purpose here. "But while we're here, we're also looking for someone. A Tyranitar girl, about... yay big, long hair I think, very green. Is what I would say, but we're looking for her siblings; their old man wanted us to check if they're okay. Would you happen to know who I'm talking about?"

The fight was well and truly underway. Attacks were flying from each and every Pokemon involved... and entirely at Jacklyn's and Oswald's Pokemon. Or at least, that was the case, until Jacklyn's mystery Pokemon jumped up and - before getting tackled by Icarus - fired off a little speck of fire at Lunar. While it made direct contact, Lunar didn't seem all that bothered by the ember striking him. Kanon did, however, also notice a particular guest that seemed to have invited himself to this battle royale. Nomi's Hoppip, Knight.

"Hey, what are you doing here!?"

How did he even get out of his Poke Ball? Were Pokemon able to do that? Suddenly, the risk of Lunar running off on his own again in the future seemed far greater. More importantly, Knight was trying to actively take part in the battle himself. This seemed like a bad idea on his end, at least to Kanon. She had to get him out of there, but she wasn't about to just walk into the middle of five Pokemon all duking it out with each other. Good thing she had a Rockruff that was perfectly capable of doing it for her. "Lunar, tackle that little bear, and bring Knight over here!"

"Whatever you did in the cave, you should probably do that now instead of trying to bite her."

"EHHHH!?" Hibiki shook her head, continuing "No way! It'd hurt your ears too and I lost track of those scary girls and..." But Suda was already covering his ears. With a sigh of defeat, Hibiki took in a deep breath, just as their assailant ran in to attack while they were busy strategizing among themselves. Only to be met with that deafening screech again, at point-blank range. The girl reeled back, hands over her ears as she stumbled clumsily to the floor. But Hibiki didn't let up, going on as long as her lungs would let her before running out of breath. The girl leaned against a nearby tree, trying to recover her composure from that attack.

"What do we do with her? Run? Take her badges?" Hibiki asked, leaning over toward Suda, though keeping her eyes on the girl. Hopefully that scream didn't attract any other unwanted attention.

might be a vending machine around there
    dunno
proud of u for not punching
even if theres no one to punch yet
    but keep to it!

A small smile cracked across Kyouko's face. The boys may well have not noticed it at all if they weren't paying attention because of just how small it was, but Kyouko knew it was there. Back to the boys, Kyouko kept an ear open for whatever they may have had in mind for vending machine snacks.

    "Um... n-no thanks, I'm good,"

And the other boy... said nothing at all about it. It was probably safe to assume he was fine too, then. FIne by her. It meant she could go elsewhere and not have to come back up to the roof. Maybe find some other quiet place. Maybe the library wasn't busy with all the club activity? At the very least, it'd be quiet there, being a library and all. New course set, Kyouko went back inside, shutting the door behind her as she started down the stairs from the rooftop. She wanted to check for a vending machine first though. Luckily, as Jun predicted, there was one not far from the stairs.

The chips she liked were out of stock. Go figure. She could have done with a healthier snack anyway. Kyouko put in the money for one granola bar... then followed up with two more. Content, she started back along the way to the library. And when she did get there, she found that she wasn't alone. A couple of different clubs were gathered here as well, but they were keeping quiet, and there was plenty of room for her to separate herself from them.

As such, Kyouko grabbed a book off the bookshelves, picked the corner of the room furthest away from any clubs, and sat down to read. Might as well kill the time somehow, right?

Over the last few days, the air had been getting smoggier and hotter. Nani wasn't quite sure how to feel about it, but it eventually led them to civilization... for an interesting definition of civilization. The houses seemed to all be made of stone, but the smog certainly wasn't making seeing through her hood any easier. Hopefully they weren't here for long.

    "Woooah. Come on, guys!"

Nani of course followed the rest of the group, looking at a building that seemed rather out of place compared to the others. Not because it was made of anything different, but because it was way off from everything else. That struck her as odd. Maybe whoever lived here liked to be left alone? If it were Nani living out here on purpose to be alone, she probably wouldn't take too kindly to strangers oogling at her house.

"Not sure myself...but be on guard regardless. Remember what the Tyranitar from the last city said about this place."

"Maybe the person living there wantse to be left alone?" Nani suggested. "Not seeing anything that sets it apart from those other places back there, aside from it being a bit further out."

When your soundtrack composer's name is Bear, of course it's gonna be good. I'm extraordinarily conservative about ever putting anything above an 8/10, so the fact that I'm scoring this a 9/10 hopefully says a good bit.

OP's suggestion, new personal anthem. (insert explicit lyrics warning here)

My rule of not factoring lyrics is the one thing stopping this song from being a 10/10. Because of that rule, I have to settle for 7/10

Composure, Natsumi. Be better than them. The two sentences played over and over in Natsumi's head, as this signer and that one and the other all freaked out for various reasons. Unwilling to go along with the project? Frankly, Natsumi thought the ones with that type of sentiment were simply in over their head. This experiment wasn't Blues's fault of course, but it was all they had left. Without the years spent honing them, crafting them into a "superhero squad" as Zirco had so very elegantly put it, there were significant lengths of time in everyone's lives where there was simply nothing.

    Except for Leiko, apparently.

"Now, most of you gave me your answers, but I will reiterate and make clear what these terms are. If you choose to stay, you'll have six months to save the world. At the end of the six months, no matter what happens, you're free to go. If the world isn't saved, one million dollars and the benefits I stated before will be yours. If you do, however, well, a billion wouldn't be enough to properly thank you,"

And with that, the tour began.

And then it was over. This place was awfully well-equipped, especially for a former prison. Which made sense, given the purpose of everyone that had been gathered here. The real question was who would have to share a room with Mr. E.

"You think we should draw straws to see who has to sleep with him?"

"Oh the horror of rooming with Mr. E! Who ever could endure such a cursed fate?! No, I'm kidding. I don't actually care, but the way I figure it he's going with one of the dudes. So, if anything, you Jet and Raijin will be drawing straws."

"I don't particularly care who I room with either. But, we need to figure something out. so let's just draw straws to see who rooms with who once the rest of you figure out if you want someone or not."

"I'd like to select my roommate. As a matter of fact, I'd like to share a room with you specifically," Natsumi replied, nodding her head toward Kiyoko. Ideally, Natsumi would have shared a room with Octavia instead, but it seemed someone else had already claimed her as a roomie. Out of the remainder, Kiyoko seemed to be the least crazy, and if she couldn't bunk with someone that shared her interest in restoring Hearthome, she'd settle for whoever would make for a peaceful stay at this facility.
