Recommended Posts

Its a bit boring around here so let's see if I can get a bite.

All NCM rules apply

The theme is to support an existing counter mechanic, other than Spell Counters.

The Challenger will submit their card via PM

The cards will be done on Yemachu's Card Maker and will not have anything identifying the creator

The deadline for voting is September 17th, 11:59 CDT

All votes must specify their reasoning, otherwise they will not count

Card A:

Spoiler

Cold Storage

Field Spell

When this card is activated: You can add 1 monster that mentions Ice Counters in its card text from your Deck to your hand, then destroy 1 card in your hand or that you control. If a monster(s) your opponent controls with an Ice Counter leaves the field, you can place all the Ice Counters that monster(s) had onto this card. This card gains effects based on how many Ice Counters it has.

* 1+: Monsters your opponent controls lose 500 ATK/DEF.

* 4+: Your opponent cannot target WATER monsters you control with monster effects.

* 7+: Monsters your opponent controls cannot activate their effects the turn they are Summoned.

Card B:

Vennominaga the Judgement of Poisonous Snakes

LV 10

DARK

PS 10

Reptile / Pendulum / Effect

0 / 0

PE:

You can only Pendulum Summon Reptile monsters. Once per turn, you can target 1 Reptile monster; if that monsters deals battle damage to your opponent this turn: Place 1 Hyper-Venom Counter on this card (max 3.) You can remove 3 Hyper-Venom Counters from this card; Special Summon 1 "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes" from your hand, Deck, or GY, ignoring its summoning conditions. If "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes" is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY: You can Special Summon this card from your Pendulum Zone.

ME:

Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summon by its own effect. When this card is Summoned: It gains Hyper-Venom Counters equal to the amount of Hyper-Venom Counters "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes" had while face-up on the field. This card gains 500 ATK for each Reptile monster in your Graveyard. This card cannot be targeted by, and is unaffected by, Spell/Trap effects and other Effect Monsters' effects. When this card is destroyed by battle: You can Special Summon 1 "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes" from your hand, Deck, or GY, ignoring its summoning conditions. It gains Hyper-Venom Counters equal the number of Hyper Venom Counters this card had while on the field. When this card declares an attack or is attacked: Place 1 Hyper-Venom Counter on this card.

Card A:

Card name and art feels a bit off-theme because most Ice Counter monsters are not associated with any storage room. But that aside, the effect looks good, and seems to work well with Ice Counter monsters.  That 7+ Counter Lose-1-Turn-like floodgate effect is nasty, too. And the first effect allows for combos like Draconic Diagram does. Heck it doesn't even have a hard OPT clause like Diagram.

Card B:

Not looking good, IMO. The long effects not only make it look clumpy, if not even unrealistic as AFAIK it would be the card with the longest printed text ever, also it is too convoluted, and doesn't help Vennominaga in a practical manner. Basically the effect can be summed up as "float from Vennominaga and vice-versa", and yet it has a lot of text for that effect, and I'm feeling there should be more practical ways to support Vennominaga than a safety blanket floater. As if that wasn't enough, alternate win conditions are usually frowned upon because of their "not actually play YGO" nature and can easily be derailed into non-interactive and, thus, unfun strategies. So, personally alternate win conditions are things that shouldn't be supported to begin with, and that includes Hyper Venom Counters. I find amusing that from all the counters this card's creator could have supported it chose Hyper Venom Counters, but the fact that those are related to a win condition doesn't help this card's case.

Considering the above, I vote for Card A.
