The show must go on

"What...happened? Ah, so that was the cause. Very well, it's time for a new home. Just like back then..."

It had been an eventful few days for one Morgan Reaperson. She hadn't expected the Fighters to be as strong as they were. Of course, she made sure to make herself look good in her fights regardless but she wasn't entirely satisfied. She had to be the absolute, no question, best ever. Even if she did keep seeing fans pop up online, some rather unsavory folk at times, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was just "one of many" when it came to these Fighters.

Especially when she learned that there had been Fighters before her. She had taken upon herself to research these former Fighters and thus it was that she found herself at a rather unusual place for someone of her build. A sports stadium. With a look of contempt she floated around the large, gaudy, structure and waited for the unwashed masses, at least that's what they were in Morgan's mind, shrunk to a more reasonable size before entering.

"Let us see where this 'Former Fighter' might be hiding."

For the other Fighters the day would start just like any other had. Except this time there was a bit of an odd message from Mauvache.

Dear Fighters. I apologize if you feel a bit unlike yourselves this morning. There was a rather unusual magic surge overnight but I assure you there aren't any changes, beyond perhaps a couple superficial, that you must worry about. I hope you enjoy today as it's the start of a new week. Which means a free day for you all! Of course you may still participate in an Event if you so choose, just know it will be prerecorded and shown other days of the week, but I personally would take this time to relax and enjoy this most wondrous of cities.

PS: Your regular meals are on me today.

Waking up in the morning, Xia felt a bit unsteady on her feet for some reason but managed to shake it off rather quickly. Getting up, the girl was a bit confused by the first part of what Mauvache was saying but grew more excited as it became clear that she now could do whatever fun she wanted to get to today. The girl was a bit bummed that she wasn't able to fight anyone today, having had a lots of fun with the other fighters these past few days. Though she was looking forward to more of such fun, she instead brightened up at the idea at being able to do whatever she wanted to. Getting out of bed, the dragon girl began to make her way out of the building, trying to figure out how she was going to go and spend her day.

Exiting, the girl was presented with the task of where to go next. There were any number of places that she could go to, what with how many that she had already visited and all the people she would love to see again. But there was one that stuck out in particular to her. Nodding to herself, the girl realized that she still had yet to conquer her greatest of challenges, nor any of the challenges that were likely surrounding it. As she made her way through the streets of the city, the girl was of course talking about the place that ascended infinitely; the library. Making her way inside again, this time the girl had elected to go and begin her climb up the stairs, though seeing this time that there was far more to the building then just the stairs, decided to wander around here and there as she made her climb upward.

Day 8, 8:00, Arena
Points: 61

W/L Record: 3/3

A 20-point loss isn't exactly what I wanna see.

Maybe it was the heat from her losing fight against Cyanthrax a few days back, but Aurora had been a bit out of it since that fight. Most of what she did between then and now was kind of a haze; she definitely remembered having some fights, and only winning one of them, but even the details on that were pretty foggy. Maybe she'd caught some weird demon flu? Whatever it was, her head was feeling cleared up today. Aurora checked her watch for a few different status updates on the arena itself. The issues with the event battles had finally been fixed! She'd finally be able to cash in on that special fight, which was the thing standing between her and a bigger, better room.

Although, I guess I'd have it by now if I didn't sign up. Win some, lose some, I guess.

According to the message she'd gotten from Mauvache, it would be pre-recorded? That probably meant she'd have to come back around to that later, around the time she had her typical arena fights perhaps? Which gave her a few hours to start her day off right! Mauvache was even paying for the meals today! If the arena meals weren't on a pay-per-day basis, this would have been the morning where Aurora stuffed her face. Without skipping a beat, Aurora got dressed and made directly for the food court. Breakfast was the most important meal of the day, and Aurora wasn't about to miss hers, especially when it was free.

It wasn't until she got there and sat down, with a plate full of pancakes, that she remembered something important. The casino. It would probably be a good idea to send a message Gavin's way.

From: Aurora
To: Gavin
Hey! Sorry if I've been out of touch or something lately. Not sure what was up, but whatever it was, it's gone now. We should check out that casino sometime today if you're not busy.

He probably wasn't busy, right? Not like anyone was fighting today, just like Mauvache said.

This was quite the weird message to receive in the morning, especially from the esteemed ringleader. Nevertheless, this was something Gavin needed. The day prior was nothing but research and accessing information for VEX at the library...today he could at least relax some. Especially after his matches prior against Angela, Marsu, and Cyanthrax.

"Quite the puzzling message from the host." VEX broke the silence, appearing in holographic form from Gavin's MOVA.

"It is...and I really don't like the way it sounds, but if she says don't worry about it..." Gavin shrugged, standing up as he tossed his jacket on. "I won't be worrying as much."

"Forever the worrier, Gavin." VEX nodded, before hearing a message being received from Gavin's wristwatch. "A message has been received, Gavin. Apparently, Miss Aurora has sent you something."

Snow Angel? This early? Gavin thought, before moving and opening up the message to read it.

Hey! Sorry if I've been out of touch or something lately. Not sure what was up, but whatever it was, it's gone now. We should check out that casino sometime today if you're not busy.

Gavin had almost forgotten about the whole casino fiasco with Colarata and trying to get to the bottom of that mystery for her. And the fact that there was no fights scheduled today for this? It was almost as if Lady Luck was definitely shining down on him with this situation. With a firm nod, he sent back a reply message almost immediately.

To: Aurora

Morning Aurora. Believe me, I felt the same way the last couple days myself. But yeah, given that Mauvache sent that message saying we're sort of free today, yeah, I'm not busy. Where are we needing to meet for this?

Cyan woke up early that morning, groggy. The past couple of days had been rather monotonous, despite the addition of new faces. Wake up, drink, eat, fight, drink again. Today, though, he felt like that was going to change. Mainly because, at the moment, he felt strange. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, although the message he got soon after seemed to cover it all. "A free day, huh?" Cyan frowned, as this meant it was unlikely he would fight today. "That's one way to break the cycle..." He groaned, picking himself up. Looks like it was either time to do an event, or simply explore the place. He'd figure that out later. Right now he needed a drink. He made his way to Tegur's pub, as he usually did around this time of day.

-Mauvache

Aria awoke that morning staring in the mirror. Despite having gotten what seemed like a full night's sleep, she was sure that she spent much of it tossing and turning. Not only that, her muscles ached from head to toe. There was no way that Aurea was going to give any leeway after the day that Aria had spent skipping out to waste all her time at the arcade.

"This sucks," Aria mumbled. "I just. Want to play. Video games."

Aria checked her watch and read the message. Mauvache made this sound like it would be a nice, relaxing day, but Aria could already tell that this would just mean more time for training. Letting out an exasperated sigh, Aria realized that there was no way she could get away spending the day goofing off without feeling guilty about it anyways.

Either way, Aria figured that it would best to figure out her day on a full stomach after breakfast, and the one thing that she knew for certain was that she didn't want the basic meals that day. With that in mind, Aria made her way towards Tegur's.

Angela

There were a lot of things happened the past few days, and unsurprisingly, all of Angela's matches ended up with a loss. Right now she wasn't really bummed about it though. She focused herself on spending time with the others. Catching up with Masaru had been fun (even if the beatdown he gave her was less so), and he really had changed a lot from how she remembered him, though at least the Masaru inside didn't change at all.

More importantly though, she had been getting herself into a cooking course here. After that time with the good doctor and talking with Tegur, perhaps opening up a restaurant or even a food cart here would be very nice. It was at least something that she always looked up to everyday. She wasn't too bummed about being stuck in this place anymore, at least not as much as before. She still was tempted to investigate the mine again, but...well, the mine guardian still traumatized her. Not to mention, surely that cursed assassin would be on her back now more than ever after her first sneaking attempt.

After skimming through Mauvache's message and eating her breakfast, Angela stepped outside and opened up her watch's interface. There was something that she had forgotten to do. After her match with Aurora, she said that she wanted to talk to Angela about something...but it seemed that both forgot about scheduling the actual meeting itself, and the magic surge last night made Angela decide to just message her today instead. She probably was busy this morning, but perhaps later today? It was a free day, after all.

From: Angela

To: Aurora

Good morning!

Really sorry for forgetting to schedule our meeting. Will you be free this afternoon? I don't think I'll be occupied all day. Just message me whenever, alright?

Oh. That was fast. Aurora read over the message. He was available after all!

I'm having breakfast right now, but shouldn't be long. At the front door, maybe?

And then Aurora's phone beeped with yet another message. She was feeling pretty popular this morning!

I'll get in contact with her after my event battle. Man, Aurora would be pretty busy today, wouldn't she? That was fine. The more stuff she had to do in a day, the better. A little hard work never hurt anyone. As such, the cryomancer wasted no time downing her tasty breakfast, before getting up and heading out. She made sure to clean up after herself first, of course. What kind of lousy eater didn't do that? Aurora headed for the front door of the Arena. Today felt like a good day for getting stuff done, though part of it might have been that weird funk she'd been in lately.

Morgan

The girl slapped her hand on the desk. "I don't think you understand. I don't want to do any of these sports. I am a lady of magic, not athletics, what I want is the strongest person here. I heard there was someone of great strength that comes here and I wish to speak to them."

She was starting to get frustrated. The woman behind the counter was of no help, merely mindlessly spouting off the various games she could take part in.

Right when Morgan was deciding she wasn't going to get anywhere a loud, male, voice boomed out. "You want the strongest? Well turn around and you'll be looking at him!"

She turned to see a tall, muscular, male with flowing hair that was quite literally posing in the middle of the room, showing off his muscles. Morgan sighed but put on an impressed face as she strode over to him. "My my, you do look strong. Could I maybe see just how strong?"

The man, who later introduced himself as Adonis, seemed almost surprised at the flirtatious tone but then agreed happily. Though he seemed confused when Morgan, as he led her to the gym, climbed into one of the training rings.

Several minuted later Adonis was laying on a scorched piece of floor against the far wall and Morgan was hovering over him with a mock-surprised face. "Wow, that was quick. I was sure you could handle more than that, Mr. Strongest."

Adonis looked up at her in fear and sputtered. "I didn't know you'd be using magic! I am the strongest! Physically..."

Morgan smirked. "So there are stronger than you. I wonder, would those happen to be former Arena Fighters?"

A small voice came behind her. "Excuse me? Magic isn't allowed here. This is for physical training." Morgan glanced over her shoulder to see a small, cripple, elf girl leaning against the ring. Morgan rolled her eyes and headed past the girl.

"I suppose I won't find what I'm looking for here after all. What a lousy tip that was...Goodbye, Mr. Strongest. Goodbye...I assume some sort of servant."

Leaving the area Morgan pulled out her watch. She didn't have anything else in mind for the day and she was bored. She looked through the possible contacts, which were all arena fighters, and with a sigh settled on messaging Cyan. "Hey, jerkwad, I'm bored. Is there anything fun you had in mind?"

Xia and the battle of the staircase

The enemy was relentless and powerful. Even Xia seemed unable to best this foe with brute force alone...The girl didn't find much as she climbed the many stairs in the library. However that changed when she stepped out into one of the floors. It was mostly empty, several people, looking to be students, were sitting at desks and reading from tablets which were the form the library books took here, and generally not paying attention.

Then Xia would step onto something, a tossed away wrapper with a bit of some sort of sandwich in it. As she likely marveled at the myriad of colors she would notice the presence of someone.

In front of her stood a giant chameleon, with several cleaning devices tied to its body and a nametag on a collar around their neck with the word "Janitor" on it.

The chameleon, which was the size of a large dog, approached the girl and nodded towards her foot, which was  standing on the wrapper.

Tegur's Bar

The bar was fairly quiet that morning. It looked like even the usual waitress hadn't clocked in for the day yet. So it was just Tegur and the usual assortment of serving robots. The patrons were mostly a small group of what the fighters would recognize as various Arena workers, a couple older men who seemed to be waiting for something, and, at the bar, Mauvache herself was sitting and talking with Tegur. A glass the size of her head in her hand that was filled with some sort of blue liquid that, upon closer inspection, had sparks coming out of it at random intervals.

Walking up the seemingly endless staircase, even Xia knew when she needed to rest before such a mighty foe. And so, getting off the staircase and moving onto one of the floors, the girl began her first step into one of the library floors proper. And directly onto something else. As she felt something give way underneath her foot, the girl stared at it for a moment, a bit in awe of the myriad of colors from the wrapper and food that were lying on the floor. Her attention was then caught by something else; a large, strange scaly creature that just walked next to her. Puzzled by this newcomer, Xia then decided to wave at them and greet them. "Oh hello there, um," as she was trying to think of what to call him, her eyes moved over to his conveniently placed name tag. "Janitor! I'm Xia."

Janitor, in turn, looked at Xia for a moment, flicking its long tongue out. Its gaze then moved from her to what her foot was over top of.

Looking down herself, the girl looked back at the wrapper and then back to Janitor. "Oh, do you want this thing then Janitor?"

Janitor then looked at her, nodding while shaking its name tag at her. Taking her foot off, the girl then watched as Janitor flicked his tongue out, devouring the wrapper. Then pulling out a mop, Janitor began to mop the area where her foot was, cleaning it all up.

Seeing this, Xia was a bit confused for a moment though soon came to a realization as she recognized the mop. With a bright expression she said, "oh! Are you also a maid?" Janitor seemed surprised, clearly taken aback by this statement, though shook his head. "Oh, then is this something people do at libraries?"

"Gotta clean it up somehow." Janitor's voice was low, lacking any kind of enthusiasm and having a sense of sorrow in it.

Not bothered by this, however, Xia simply nodded and said, "oh that's true." Looking at Janitor with an opposite amount of enthusiasm that he had, she said, "well, then would you like some help cleaning? It's lots of fun, and sometimes you even meet cats."

"There aren't any cats in the library." He paused before adding, "I am fine, it's my job."

"Oh, then it must be really important." The girl then looked around, and now in the presence of someone who worked here had decided to ask, "oh yeah, Janitor, do you know what else there is to do in a library. Other than stair climbing of course."

"Stair climbing?" He seemed very confused by this. "Libraries are for reading, I guess. And apparently leaving your trash and making me clean it up..."

"Reading? Oh, I've never done much of that before. What do people read here?"

The creature looked around and said, "everything?"

Xia's eyes widen as she seemed to be taken aback by this revelation. "Whoa. Libraries are awesome." Nodding to herself she resolved saying, "i should probably see what this everything is. Thanks a lot Janitor, hope you can clean all the things here!" Waving to him, with a genuine smile and well wishes, the girl went to further explore the library.

"Good...luck." As the dragon girl left, Janitor soon went back to his cleaning work.

The atmosphere in Tegur's pub was always inviting to Cyan, although it was quieter than he'd like. It made sense though, it was rather early. "Yo Tegur!" Cyan shouted, before stopping and freezing for a second. He saw Tegur sitting next to the boss lady herself, a cup that was a lot larger than he imagined a women like her would drink. And were those... sparks!? Tegur had been holding back on him, it seems! He made a mental note to ask for something more exotic as he made his way towards the duo. As he was walking, however, he received a message.

From: Morgan
To: Cyanthrax

Hey, jerkwad, I'm bored. Is there anything fun you had in mind?

The demon let out a grumble. What the fuck did she want with him? He was tempted to tell her to fuck off, but as he typed out his favorite word he stopped. He did want to break the monotony of his schedule, and Morgan was at least interesting to talk to. Reluctantly he replied.

From: Cyanthrax
To: Morgan

come over to tegurs. we can figure somethin out over a drink

After sending the message, Cyan let out an annoyed sigh, walking up towards one of the robots. "So..." He nudged over to Mauvache, his lips curling into a sly grin. "...how do I get something from that menu?"

I'm having breakfast right now, but shouldn't be long. At the front door, maybe?

"Front door, eh?" Gavin muttered, he nodded and closed the message and looked over at VEX, who seemed to be smiling. "VEX...why are you smiling?"

"No reason, Gavin. Though it seems to be that you have, what they call, a date with Miss Aurora." VEX simply said, before his holographic form vanished.

Right now Gavin turned bright red as he tried to take his right hand and wave it over where VEX was, almost to either smack or grab at the hologram that was no longer there. "V-VEX!!! J-Jeez it's nothing like that!" he said quickly, shaking his head firmly. "I'm just helping her figure out what happened to her friend..."

"Whatever helps you sleep at night, Gavin."

Tch...what do you know anyway? he thought, already walking out of his room. VEX was an A.I., so yeah he knew A LOT...so maybe he was right? Still, that remained to be unseen.

Meanwhile, VEX within his datascape, looked through the different data on the Colarata case that he was on since Day 1...but he was also opening up a link to the wristwatch Mauvache gave Gavin. It was time to see how many points he had... With a few motions with his hands, the data changed on his digital screens and he saw the amount: 208. Then he opened up a tab he saved the other day, an event titled "Bullet Hell: To the Moon!". This was what he was wanting to get Gavin involved with, to get him back into his element.

"While he has the correct amount of points, he will only end up having eight left if things go awry." VEX muttered. "However, I doubt that Gavin will fail in this challenge, but there are the slight chances...perhaps I can make an inquiry to Mauvache later. It would be about time for myself and her to have just a little chat."

Aria

Aria marched into Tegur's bar without paying much heed to her surroundings. With a steady pace she marched up to the bar and practically slammed her fist down on the counter as she sat down on the stool.

"Tegur," she said with a strong confidence. "I have a deep fever, and the only prescription is the most robust bowl of ramen you can muster in the 'food from home' category." Aria sat upright, eyes sparkling in anticipation of what she hoped was going to be the largest bowl of noodle soup she could imagine. By chance she looked off to her side and spotted Cyanthrax, and immediately her mood took a turn for the worse.

"Feh," she grumbled to herself quietly, though still perhaps too loud. "Wouldn't have come if I knew there was gonna be trash in here."

Xia

As Xia explored the floor she'd realize that there was, in fact, not much to explore. The shelves had various tablets with titles along the edges. Some were different colors but most looked basically the same. There weren't many nooks in this floor and beyond what she could see when standing in the middle there wasn't much else.

Some people seemed about to go up to her, looking excited, but, with a glance at the camera, calmed down and just waved to her.

Eventually the girl wound up on a higher floor. This one with more shelves and more twists and turns. There were even less people on this floor than the others but she would eventually find a girl looking through the books, occasionally reorganizing them, with a bored look on her face. After a moment she noticed Xia and turned towards her. "Did you need a book?" She said, her voice cracking near the end.

Tegur's bar

"...how do I get something from that menu?"

Mauvache paused in talking with Tegur and looked over at the young man. She smiled down at him and gave a low chuckle. "My, you don't want any of this. It wouldn't do much good to your stomach I'm afraid. Needs a special...system for this."

Tegur laughed loudly. "Miss Mauvache here has an iron stomach let me tell you. Even I wouldn't touch that stuff."

The Minotaur's eyes flicked to the entrance as the doors swung open. Aria came up, not even noticing the other two, and spoke to him. "I have a deep fever, and the only prescription is the most robust bowl of ramen you can muster in the 'food from home' category."

"You know you don't need to come on down here to order that lass. I appreciate the company though! I suppose I'll get one o' them to whip it up." He then moved over towards one of the robots which moved back to the kitchen. The food would take a total of five minutes before it could come out to Aria.

In the meantime...

"Wouldn't have come if I knew there was gonna be trash in here."

"My my, Aria." Mauvache said, making her presence more clear. Though, given how she towered over the girl, it was a surprise she was missed. "I see the day off hasn't doused your fire for combat now has it! I look forward to seeing how you'll fight when we come back to it tomorrow. But for now it's time to relax. You all have something in common after all, no need to be so unfriendly. Isn't that right, Cyanthrax?"

A few moments later, around the time Aria's food came out, Morgan waltz in the room. She looked over the place with a skeptical expression. She didn't really get it but there was something oddly familiar about this place. Though it came with a hint of disgust. She saw the Minotaur at the bar, who she kept remembering seemed smaller than she would have expected, and the Arena owner herself, along with Cyan and....her.

Morgan smirked and strolled over to the pair. "Well what do we have here? You didn't tell me you were having a party, Cyan. Aren't you the popular one."

As Xia looked around the floor, her eyes trailed across all the different colored spines of the books and the lights of the screens that were around. Of course, the curious girl didn't do much more than just look at these, and so her short journey on this floor was brought to a close. As she made her way up the stairs, she saw others begin to notice her and wave, and the dragon girl in turn waved back to them with a cheery smile on her face. Eventually, though, she got to the top floor and was met with a labyrinth of book cases and shelves. With wonder evident on her face, the girl continued to make her way through the floor until she came across a bored looking girl. As she asked her question, Xia just shook her head. "Oh, no. I don't read really, I just like looking at them."

"What...do you gain from just looking?" She asked, turning around fully now, her expression not changing but a hint of curiosity in her voice.

"Gain?" The dragon girl looked at her like she didn't really understand the question. "They're pretty aren't they?"

The book girl looked over at the books. "I...if you say so." She muttered. "Am I distracting you from your..." the girl coughed, took a moment, then continued, "observing?"

Xia shook her head. "Oh, not at all." Perking up she then asked, "oh, do you like books?"

"Mm." The girl gave a non-response. "I suppose I must."

"Oooh." Making her way over to her, Xia looked curious, asking, "well, I'm new to this whole book thing. So what do you like about them?"

The girl glanced over at Xia and subtly stepped a bit to the side. "I guess it's...you can see whatever you want in a book. Or learn anything you want." She grew silent for a moment. "Almost anything."

"Whoa. Books sound awesome."

"I suppose." the girl said again, shifting in place, unsure what to do.

"Oh right." Holding out her hand, she said, "I'm Xia. Nice to meet you book friend."

The girl looked at her hand and awkwardly grasped it. "Keres. That's my name."

Smiling she asked, "nice to meet you Keres." Looking around she said, "well, if I want to use books, what do you think I should use?" She looked somewhat unsure what to pick from the myriad of books around her.

Keres decided that this might be a while and sat down at a nearby table. "What do you like?"

Thinking for a moment Xia began to spout out, "well, I like friends, and fish, and water, and swimming, and fighting. Oh, Tennis and Basketball are also fun."

"I...I see." Keres said. "Do you...want fiction or non-fiction?"

"What's that?"

Keres's mouth dropped open in disbelief. Then. "Um. Make believe or fact."

Xia pondered this for a moment before saying, "well i like learning new things, so fact!"

Keres nodded. "Follow me then. We'll have to go up a floor." Nodding heartily, Xia followed the girl, excited to see what wonderful world of books she would be presented with.

Day 8, 8:00, Arena
Points: 61

W/L Record: 3/3

No response...August did the same thing sometimes too. Was that just a guy thing? If they were that alike after all though, it meant Gavin would definitely meet her at the place she'd specified! And so she waited, right there at the arena door. Every couple moments, she'd move from one spot to another as the air around her got a bit too chilly for her liking, moving almost in a pattern so that if she ever went back to the first spot, it'd be back where its temperature was supposed to be. She was pretty sure she'd gotten a few looks while she waited. It was weird having people know who she was, but in a warm and fuzzy way!

I guess it's almost like being a hero? Sort of? ...maybe not. But it IS fun!

Eventually, he showed up after all. "There you are!" Aurora waved over to Gavin, gesturing him toward the door as she continued "I don't think we'll have time to actually get there and back before I'm up for an event battle, but a nice walk never hurt anyone. Fresh air, casual exercise, seeing sights, that sort of stuff! And it'll give you plenty of time to tell me about any extra details your little friend there managed to dig up over the last few days."

Cyan turned to the boss lady, his face annoyed. Still, he had a grin. Now he knew he had to get himself a drink from that menu. Especially when Tegur said even he wouldn't drink that. He was about to turn back around and order it, when he overheard a familiar voice.

"Wouldn't have come if I knew there was gonna be trash in here." Cyan turned to Aria. Wasn't she a bit young to be here? Whatever, Cyanthrax didn't really care all that much. She stilled seemed bitter towards him, more so than people usually got with him. Like he had personally wronged him. Cyan frowned slightly. It was at least a step up from the sobbing mess he had left her during their fight.

As he was thinking about their previous fight, Mauvache stepped in. "I see the day off hasn't doused your fire for combat now has it! I look forward to seeing how you'll fight when we come back to it tomorrow. But for now it's time to relax. You all have something in common after all, no need to be so unfriendly. Isn't that right, Cyanthrax?"

"Of course!" Cyan remarked, chuckling as he turned back to the robot. He decided to just get a normal drink this time, keeping a tab in his mind to get that electric drink later down the line. He turned back to Aria. He simply scoffed, turning away from the girl. He was used to people treating him like this; hell, he was surprised she was the only one that seemed to hold a grudge on him. He turned back to Mauvache. "Can't blame her, though. I tend to bring that sort of attention." He chuckled, taking another swing. "Everyone wants a piece of the champ."

As he took another swing, Morgan busted through the door. He had forgotten he invited her over here. "Well what do we have here? You didn't tell me you were having a party, Cyan. Aren't you the popular one." Cyan simply chuckled, getting off of her seat and grinning.

"What can I say? You get a little famous when you're numero uno!" He cackled, taking another swing of his drink.

Aria

"My my, Aria." Mauvache said, causing Aria to visibly twitch before freezing in-place. "I see the day off hasn't doused your fire for combat now has it! I look forward to seeing how you'll fight when we come back to it tomorrow. But for now it's time to relax. You all have something in common after all, no need to be so unfriendly. Isn't that right, Cyanthrax?"

"Of course!" Cyanthrax replied, looking over at Aria and scoffing, causing her face to turn a little red as a low growl began to escape her throat. "Can't blame her, though. I tend to bring that sort of attention. Everyone wants a piece of the champ."

"Well what do we have here? You didn't tell me you were having a party, Cyan. Aren't you the popular one," a familiar and unwelcome voice soon followed.

"What can I say? You get a little famous when you're numero uno!"

"Yeah, forgive me if I have a little trouble relaxing around these two," Aria said bitterly. Thanfully it wasn't long until one of the robot waiters returned with a big bowl of steaming ramen, and the smell alone was almost enough to quell the annoyance and anger that Aria felt. However, as she pinched one of the eggs with her chopsticks and slurped it up noisily, she had hoped that the food would be a good enough distraction from the stressors around her, but she was wrong. "You better watch yourself, though," Aria growled barely coherently between mouthfuls of golden noodles. "I'm gonna knock you both right down a few pegs, just you wait!"

Something told Gavin he should've given a message back to Aurora to acknowledge that he'd be there...but he didn't follow through with it though. He just simply arrived where Aurora was and gave a quick nod and wave at her. "Snow Angel, how's it going?"

"There you are! I don't think we'll have time to actually get there and back before I'm up for an event battle, but a nice walk never hurt anyone. Fresh air, casual exercise, seeing sights, that sort of stuff! And it'll give you plenty of time to tell me about any extra details your little friend there managed to dig up over the last few days."

...now this sounded like a date. Damnit VEX...you had to say something... Gavin thought, before nodding and shrugging the feeling off. "Yeah, totally understand. You've been here a bit longer than I, so of course you've become plenty busy. As for the information, let's get VEX out here and we'll talk. Yo VEX." No response...

"VEX?"

iU8EggM.png

Meanwhile, in his datascape, VEX was in the process of sending off a message to none other than Mauvache. It was about time he and her had a bit of a talk...

"Mauvache

This is not Gavin Shepherd contacting you. This is his Artificial Intelligence, Virtual EXpertiment, VEX. As someone who is the benefactor of this entire realm, almost the creator so to speak, from a being of code, I figured it was time you and I had a talk. Away from Gavin, as I know most things could possibly go over his head. I wish to pick your brain in order to best arm myself with knowledge of this Rama Indri realm. Knowledge is power, the old saying goes, and it is none so true for an A.I. So please, consider meeting with me at your convenience. Thank you in advance."

Once it was done, he sent it off, nodding firmly. "It is done now...oh, Gavin is calling." VEX sighed before leaving his datascape.

iU8EggM.png

"Apologies Gavin, Ms. Aurora. What can I do for you?" VEX said, appearing immediately.

"Jeez, took ya long enough buddy." Gavin rolled his eyes slightly. "Anyway, Snow Angel here pretty much wants to talk about the information you received."

"Splendid. Ms. Aurora, what would you wish to know about the current situation?"

Xia

Keres led the dragon girl through the path between bookshelves. They reached the elevator, a large, freight elevator in the middle of the room, and Keres nodded towards it. "We'll use this." She said. Xia's negative opinion on this was clear and, as Keres hit the button to call the elevator down, she questioned the girl as to why while they waited.

After all this time in the library Xia would have certainly noticed something unusual. And that was the height of the ceilings. The elevator, too, seemed much taller than necessary.

The reason why was made clear when the elevator door opened. There was someone inside of it. A twenty foot tall female, wearing a business suit, stepped out of the elevator as the door opened.

She paused when she saw Xia and Keres. "Hello there." She boomed. "Are you escorting this young lady somewhere, Keres?"

Keres nodded. "Yes ma'am." She responded. "She is looking for marine biology books so I'm bringing her to the section."

"Atta girl. Don't let her tone fool you, young lady." the woman said to Xia. "Keres here is a friendly gal. Hope you find what you want. I made this library so that people can find whatever they want after all."

Tegur's Bar

"Everyone wants a piece of the champ."

"That they do, young man." Mauvache said with a chuckle. "Why I've had some people request to fight you from outside the Arena even."

"I'm gonna knock you both right down a few pegs, just you wait!"

"That's the spirit, my dear." Mauvache said, smiling at Aria. "You might want to start with the young witch though. She could use it." The two would notice that Mauvache gave Morgan a brief look of distaste before she was distracted by a chime on her watch.

"Whatever, hag." Morgan muttered. Then, to Aria, "You can try but the only thing you'll ever beat me in is an ugly contest." She tossed her hair and turned towards Tegur. "I'd like a drink, pumpkin spice latte, and some apple pie. On our gracious host." She finished by smiling widely at Mauvache.

Whom was responding to a message, from Gavin's AI of all things, with a look of amusement on her face.

Dearest VEX

This is rather unorthodox I must admit but I won't deny you've made me rather curious. You do know I am not the political leader of this place right? Ah, either way, I will be in my office soon. You may meet me there. However I will warn you that I don't let go of my knowledge easily. And if I find out you've recorded any of it, well, you aren't one of my Fighters so do remember I have no concerns about your well-being.

"I am afraid I must go. Goodbye, Cyanthrax, Aria. Tegur, we'll continue later." She then grabbed the drink and, with one motion, drank the rest of it down. She then got up to her full height and walked out the door.

Morgan snorted as she left. "Amazon hag." She muttered. "Aaaanyway, Cyan, did you have something in mind for today?"

"Yeah, totally understand. You've been here a bit longer than I, so of course you've become plenty busy. As for the information, let's get VEX out here and we'll talk. Yo VEX."

Aurora looked at Gavin's watch, awaiting a response from VEX. Only to be met with silence.

"VEX?"

Eventually, he came back. Was he busy with something? Maybe it was because they weren't exactly rampant in her world, but Aurora couldn't fathom what a sentient AI would be up to with its free time when it was confined to a watch.

"Ms. Aurora, what would you wish to know about the current situation?"

"I wanted to know if you've managed to dig up any extra info on Colarata and his casino, or that mystery associate you said he had. Especially our mystery man." As much as Aurora wanted to bring these potential findings to the police, she couldn't help but feel like that might not work out. Going to officials with certain issues hadn't done her any good so far, so it was best to just do the very thing she aspired to back home, be a hero, and solve the problem herself.

"I wanted to know if you've managed to dig up any extra info on Colarata and his casino, or that mystery associate you said he had. Especially our mystery man."

VEX only nodded, as he had a few hologram screens show up, to which he had them floating towards Aurora so she could see. "According to my findings, the casino in question that Perry Colarata owns was once in the possession by a mob boss that ran a shady business. However, it seems unlike the previous owner, the current one is running a legitimate business in it." VEX stated, pulling up a few holographic images for Aurora to glance through. "Furthermore, Mr. Colarata has a business partner. Unfortunately, I could not find a specific name for this partner, aside from the moniker that they are known by: 'Silver'. This would not be anything worth a glance at first, however this 'Silver' individual appeared under mysterious circumstances and was never investigated due to having no criminal record."

"And that's all we have on the situation, isn't it?" Gavin asked, seeing VEX nod solemnly.

"Unfortunately, it is." VEX continued. "At this moment nothing else has been known. However, I am currently troubleshooting a remedy for this lack of information. That happens to be the reason I was a bit late on responding to you, Gavin."

Gavin nodded, shrugging. "Alright, well if anything, you can go back and try and see if anything else shows up in any searches...or maybe if you happen to find any shady calls from Colarata or the like."

"Of course. If anything changes, I shall let you know post haste." VEX said, his hologram fading.

With a strong exhale, Gavin rubbed the back of his head and glanced over at Aurora. "Unfortunately, I think that's as far as this rabbit trail goes, unless we can find any more information." he said, putting his hands in his jacket pockets. "You got any ideas on how to continue, Snow Angel?"

iU8EggM.png

VEX returned back to his datascape, surprisingly to see a response from Mauvache. "A reply from our esteemed host? Wonderful. What do they say?"

"Ah of course, they seem like the paranoid type." VEX commented, nodding as he read every line. "However, while you may not have concerns about my well-being, Gavin does. And since Gavin is one of your 'Fighters', I seem to be aligned with his own well-being. But of course, I shall be playing nicely with you. After all, I am but a guest."

With another motion of his hand, VEX worked a response to Mauvache.

"Mauvache

I am delighted to hear you will be able to meet me. Please inform me when you return to your office. I shall arrive there shortly."

Then, VEX sent another message, this time to Gavin...letting him know that he'd be running some algorithms to see if anything pops up regarding Colarata...which is what he was doing, but the fact it would take him a long time to do so wouldn't. He just needed to say this to keep his meeting with Mauvache away from Gavin.

"According to my findings, the casino in question that Perry Colarata owns was once in the possession by a mob boss that ran a shady business. However, it seems unlike the previous owner, the current one..."

VEX's explanation of the situation sounded awful familiar. Hadn't he said exactly this just a few days ago when Gavin first got involved in the investigation? A recap doesn't hurt, I guess. Colarata himself seemed fine so far, of course, but still somebody that she had some questions for. It was his mystery associate and the former casino owner she was most interested in.

"You got any ideas on how to continue, Snow Angel?"

Aurora nodded. "It doesn't sound like we know anything about this Silver guy, but we do know who Colarata bought the casino from, right? Some more research on that guy would maybe be a good start. As much as I'd like to ask Colarata about the mob boss and Silver face-to-face, that might not fly over so well. At least at the start, we should try to keep it subtle."

"I'm gonna knock you both right down a few pegs, just you wait!" Cyan grinned, chuckling.

"I'd love to see you try, shrimp!" He said, swinging his mug around a bit. Cyan watched the back and forth between Morgana and Mauvache. They almost seemed to know each other and, more importantly, seemed to hate each other. "Wonder what that's all about." He muttered to no one in particular, finishing the rest of his drink. "Might as well cash in that free meal." He turned to the robot behind the counter. "Hey! Get me some eggs and bacon will ya?" The robot nodded, although it stood there, as if it was waiting something. Cyan titled his head, before remembering the things he had learned while he was here. "Oh yeah. Scrambled." Cyan said, turning back to the others as the robot went on to deliver his order.

The boss lady had left, Cyan waving as she left. "Aaaanyway, Cyan, did you have something in mind for today?" Cyan's face turned into a scowl.

"You think I'd answer your text if I had something planned?" He said, shaking his head. "I barely know what the fuck is around the place." As he said that, his breakfast had been delivered. Cyan grinned, stabbing the eggs with his fork. He thought for a second, before shrugging. "I guess we could spar somewhere? I don't fuckin' know..." He turned to Aria and Tegur, shrugging, before taking another stab at his eggs.

As the duo got to the elevator, much to Xia's dismay that she would not be able to best the staircase, they stopped as the door opened up. Seeing the massive woman walk out of the elevator, Xia was in awe at the tall woman's stature. However, this awe was soon replaced with a friendly look and a nod as she talked about how friendly Keres was.  "She sure is! After all, she's teaching me all about books. Oh," holding her hand out to shake towards the woman she said, "I'm Xia. Nice to meet you!"

The woman reached out and clasped Xia's upper arm and hand in her own hand. "And I Frigg."

Cheerily shaking arm and hand with the woman she said, "oh, do you also like books and stairs, Frigg?"

"Well, stairs aren't so easy for me. Not many of them can hold my weight." She laughed. "But I do enjoy knowledge."

"That's a shame." Xia nodded at this, before asking, "well, what kind of books do you like?"

"All of them of course. I've read them so many of them already. I wouldn't have put them here otherwise."

"Whooooa." Xia seems marveled by this, looking around the place as she said that. "That sounds hard. But, you and Keres must be great friends then!"

She smiles, and looks at Keres. "I'd like to think so. Unfortunately it's always so hard to tell with this one."

Xia looked to the girl but says, "well, she's really nice so I'm sure you are too. Now, I need to go learn more about fish. So nice meeting you Frigg!"

"Likewise. Come back to talk to me whenever. You're certainly an unusual one."

Cheerily waving to the woman she said, "will do Frigg." Looking back to the smaller girl she said, "let's go Keres. We have fish to read about!"

The Korova region, being much less tourist friendly than other regions, isn't one that many people travel to in this day and age. It wasn't prepared to take in visitors with much pomp and circumstances. It did however have one thing going for it when it came to visitors from other regions and that was New Point Landing.
Located at the western edge of an island, which was itself to the west of the mainland, New Point Landing was the main place for visitors coming into the region and it, at least, had a dock that ships could stop at to drop of passengers which was more than can be said about most of the rest of the region.
Once upon a time the city was the place to go for trading and shopping. These days it has fallen far from its high point and many of the stores are closed and boarded up. Awaiting a day that the region was more prosperous. Many of the remaining stores were family-run and managed by stubborn folk who refused to let the city fall completely off of its original purpose. There existed a singular, larger, department store where the rare visitors were able to get most necessities for their travels.
The ship that was currently coming into the dock was different than most that the city would usually see. It resembled a cruise ship more than anything else and instead of supplies from other regions it instead was full of trainers.
Unbeknownst to the people of the city, nor truly the trainers themselves, these passengers included those who would be much more precious to the region than any other cargo. For these trainers were destined to take part in a struggle that would determine the fate of the entire region.
Pokemon trainers from across the world all coming here with the purpose of taking on the Pokemon League challenge and becoming the Champion that the region has been lacking for many long years.

Anneliese looked out at the city that approached. Her eyes were shining with excitement as she watched the city, much different than Sunnyshore City back home, came closer and closer. "My goodness Leopold, how do you think the ship knows when to stop without any eyes?" She asked the small, lion-cub-like, Shinx that was currently standing next to her and watching with great concern as she leaned over the edge of the railing with no regard to her own safety.
The Pokemon had no answer for her. He didn't have any more knowledge than she did about ships and he wouldn't be able to bring himself to correct her if he did.
This didn't stop the girl from continuing her dialogue with the small creature. "Oh look over there, that's Goldeen right? My goodness there's so many of them. Leopold do you see them right there?" She leaned over the edge to point out the Pokemon swimming along the side of the boat. In doing so she went too far and very nearly tumbled off the edge.
Only stopped by Leopold biting the bottom of her dress and pulling the girl backwards. She stumbled but managed to avoid falling as she looked down at Leopold. "Oh, what's wrong?" She asked, oblivious to how she had almost fell into the water. "Did you want something to eat?"
Leopold shook his head and wondered where the other humans that he had gathered to keep an eye on her were. He could do most of it himself but when Anneliese was this excited sometimes it could get...difficult. When the captain had informed them they would be required to set off in groups of three, for safety reasons, Leopold at first blanched at the idea of trusting strangers to accompany his trainer but he realized that it was something he'd have to accept. As long as they kept Anneliese safe and happy, of course.
      ---
As the ship docked everyone would be helped off of it by the crew. They were greeted by a tall middle-aged, man with mutton chops of such grandeur that they were nearly indistinguishable from a full beard. "Hello, and welcome...to Korova! I got word of your arrival and sallied forth to greet you! I am the dockmaster here, and I wish to be the first to welcome you all to my fair city, the jewel of this region, in my eyes at least, New Point Landing. I'm sure you'll find it accommodating to your needs...You may not even want to leave, gwahahahaha!"
"Oh what a delightful man!" Anneliese said as she smiled brightly at him. She wanted to stop and chat with the pleasant man some more but another part of her wished to hurry off to begin her adventure.
It was then she remembered that she had teammates with her and so she turned to the two of them with an even bigger smile, "So, where shall we start?"
