"Now that's what I like to hear! I'm sure one of these other Masters or Servants fancies themselves some kind of hero, so drawing them out is easy stuff. We just need a little bit of prep time, some materials I'm sure we can find somewhere, and the chutzpah to make some headlines. Here's the idea." Or at least, here would have been the idea. As you and Rider stroll down the street, discussing plans, you're suddenly met with a sight. What looks like a group of men belonging to the same mafia that you met earlier, harassing a rather ordinary-looking couple. Along with a couple other spectators. Rider briefly eyed the girl of the two spectators, curious about... something.

Is she... nah. Must be getting antsy. Could've sworn I picked something up from that girl.

"You out here for the scenery or something?" Rider asked.

"W-Why, yes! This sure is a lovely part of town, isn't it?" she asked, while her companion seemed to be occupied asking the fellows down the alley about something. "All these bright lights and tall buildings. Really grabs your attention!"

"It sure is! You and your friend over there tourists or something? I hear the docks are pretty popular for sightseers too."

You see, Master? Easy bait. We'll go over the plan after I've chatted up the tourists.

Be on guard regardless, Rider...
>Stands near Rider, seeming to be both cautious and mindful of the surroundings, just to be on the safe side.
"My friend here has a point. If you enjoy the bright lights around here, then you'll enjoy the lights down at the docks at night."

Waving my hand I'll say, "I don't think it's one of those. Should I be concerned about those? Well, anyway, the car I'm looking for is something more like a sports car, and blue. Pretty show-offy if I do say so, but it's not really my car, so." I'll shrug to punctuate my closing statement.

Then, I'll pause for a moment as I get the news. "....Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh!? Are you kidding me, that's like 3 servants in an hour! I feel like the grail is out to get us right now. Whatever, deep breaths deep - deep thoughts? Whatever! Alright Assassin, we're going to need to play it cool. But we can get through this. I believe in us. Hopefully they haven't figured out who we are, and even if they have, hopefully these witnesses will dissuade them. Can you tell me anything about them? Class, identifying features, etc? We'll turn this misfortune into good fortune and get info on our car and another participant at the same time."

"Well, see, it's funny you mention that," I say. "I was offered a job by one of the mages in the Holy Grail War. We be his eyes and ears in the war, and let him take refuge in our turf, and occasionally help him out with some of his crazy schemes, and in exchange, he'll pay us whatever we want," I motion to my jacket. "Even have a pretty generous down payment here, ten thousand bucks, if you're interested. Hell, I can even let him talk to you if you're still not sure,"

I reply to Berserker: "Landsurfing? Sorry, not really into that. I don't know of anywhere you could do that either to be honest."

I reply to Caster and Blake: "Yeah you know...killing people isn't nice. Also, don't you get in trouble for doing that? Locked up and stuff. I'd rather not face prison time if I can help it." I glance at Berserker. "Let's follow her. But hmm...I also don't want to leave Archer and his Master without any help either..." I mull over things before making a snap decision. "Well maybe we'll be helping them by following Berserker and stuff! Prevent anybody from sneaking up on us."

"That's because I'm not," Lancer grinned. "But while I'm here, trying new things can't hurt. We'll keep the place well guarded while you and Saber are out shopping." With Saber and his Master having left the scene to grab some grub, Lancer waited. Having been to the church before, he knew they'd be a bit to get back with the errand he sent them on with its decent distance from this abandoned house.

"Honestly, I don't like that Saber very much," Lancer sighed, once the two were well gone. "Can't get a feel for him, and probably can't beat him in a direct fight if it comes down to just us. It's a bit risky, and I'm not sure how we're supposed to do it yet, but I do have an idea about that." Lancer glanced behind him, toward that big wall bordering the inner city. And promptly stopped. One, two... five masked figures seemed to be roaming around the graveyard in a group. They had guns. And very poor posture.

"Looks like that'll have to wait though. We've got company. Orders?"

saber.png

If it was fish, then of course one would go to the docks! Where better to get some freshly-caught sea creatures? Saber - having gone into spirit form again - remained nearby in case of danger, but the most dangerous place about the various stalls and fisheries here was the smell. Well, that, and that warehouse over there that had been blocked off by police tape, with the door's general vicinity black with soot and ash. Not exactly an inviting aura given off by that place. There sure were a bunch of places to pick from, though. At least in this general area, there was a sushi bar, and a couple of smaller stall-like shops selling fish.

And what luck, it seemed there was a special on tuna today! The two stalls seemed to respectively be run by a little old lady and a man probably in his mid-30s.

"I'll make sure to keep it in mind. But we're actually in a bit of a hurry, I'm afraid. My friend and I are supposed to be meeting someone. All they gave us for instructions was his car, though..." The girl eyed up the taller of the two men before her. "It's a blue sports car. Quite expensive-looking, supposedly something that would stand out. Have you seen it by any chance?"

Blue sports car, she says. Hey, Master, didn't that Lando fellow drive a blue sports car? This lady might have connections.

I've identified the taller man out of these two as the Servant. Class is Rider... probably. Identifying features: That weird double-goatee look he's going for. His clothes make me think pirate of some sort. His invitation to check out the docks tonight may be a trap if all of that is the case.

The two men you were met with seemed a bit surprised by the description of the car you were looking for. They paused for a bit, then took some time to talk it out among themselves. You couldn't really pick up on the conversation, but the couple they'd been met with seemed content to take the opportunity to slip out of trouble, thanking you along the way. After some back-and-forth between the suited men, and a non-zero amount of further elbows to the bald man's abdomen, the two turned their attention back to you.

"Why yes, we know exactly the guy!" the older one smiled. "In fact, we were talking to him just a few minutes ago! Unless you've got some other business, we could bring you to him right now, even!"

berserker.pngcaster.png

"You heard your Master, Berserker. Let's do some investigation! Ah, but first..." Caster scooped up some materials from the area around him. Some dirt, blades of grass, two tiny pebbles, and a vial of mercury from his pocket. He began assembling everything together, casting some sort of magecraft on the materials as he put them together into the form of what looked like a pair of pocket-sized golems. "These aren't my forte, and this is primitive at best. But, it should let us stay in contact with Archer's Master when he's finished inside. Think of them like tiny, crudely-made telephones."

Pocketing one of the crude golems for himself, and making sure to put the lid back on the vial of mercury before returning it to his pocket, Caster got up from his crouching position behind the bush once the area was clear of armed zombies. "Now then, let us proceed!"

"...this way." Berserker started moving up the road, toward that towering wall separating the inner and outer city.

"Recon isn't really my thing. That's more up your alley, isn't it?" Gesturing around to some of the shambling thugs in the room, Cordula further explained "The best I can get from these sacks of meat is vague descriptions. But what I do have is numbers. And guns. If I'm protecting somebody, there's probably no safer place in town than my territory, and the best part about giving zombies guns is they don't die easily. That's what I've got to offer. Bring him in so I can hash out the details."

"Yes. These are my new friends... er... sorry, what were your names again?"

"Eddie," the taller man answered, without skipping a beat. "Eddie Black, pleased to meet ya. Looks like you've found a ride to wherever it is you're trying to get. That's good. Try not to get lost though, alright? I hear there's all sorts of strange happenings around town lately."

"We'll keep it in mind. Best get going now. See you another time!" "Asha" - finally having her escape out of this awkward situation - took it, following the lead of the suited men and bringing her companion along with her.

rider.png

"Cute kid," Rider pondered to himself as the two walked off, down the street in the general direction you had come from. "Now then, about finding that bait... I heard a really juicy rumor while we were walking around. It could be just the thing we need. Tell me, how do you feel about pyrotechnics?"

assassin.png

What do you propose we do about Rider and his Master?

The walk through the streets of Little Vegas was what one might expect. Bright lights, lots of tourists, and an uncomfortable air about those two suited men leading the way. People who seemed to recognize them also seemed to go out of their way to avoid them. There didn't seem to be any hostile intent, not that Assassin was concerned about that. Even being among the weaker classes, one Servant would be more than a match for these two. And then, finally, they reached what seemed to be their destination. Midas Palace. A towering casino/hotel that seemed to outscale just about every other building you'd seen in this part of town. And indeed, the blue car you saw earlier was parked here.

"Top floor," the gray-haired man said, reaching into a pocket of his suit and handing you a blank yellow card. "Name's Boris, by the way. They will ask who sent you."

"Of course, dearie. Just a moment while I round it all up." As the little old lady began wrapping up and bagging quite a bit of tuna, she nodded in response to your observations. "Indeed, strange times around town. Just last night that warehouse had a nasty explosion inside. Thank goodness nobody was hurt."

"It's those loonies at the church!" the man from the other stall called out. "Some weirdo we've never seen before shows up there, and then the warehouse explosion? Not a coincidence, I swear it! I always knew that lot was up to no good!"

"Just ignore him, sweetheart. Declan is a fine young man, but he can be a bit paranoid. The police don't know who caused it, and investigations are underway, they said." With the last of the tuna gathered up - quite a generous amount, it seemed - the lady took her payment with a smile. "Do be careful out there, won't you? These old bones can tell when there's trouble afoot, and something tells me there's no shortage of it to be had around here."

"You've got it." Lancer started off toward the figures. They didn't seem to notice him at first. As he got closer though, they most certainly did. And it seemed that they were none too happy with the intrusion on whatever it was they were up to. Each one of them raised up their guns, ready to fire at Lancer. Only to be met with a quick swing of the guandao cleaving off the heads of three of them once they revealed their hostile intent, and his weapon being thrown into the heart of the fourth one. And as he dashed past the rest of them to retrieve his weapon, Lancer couldn't help but notice something off.

No blood. Even with their heads lopped off or their hearts pierced, the wounds weren't bleeding. Something's not right about these guys, Master. Even less so when the figure he was procuring his weapon from - despite having a polearm just thrown through its heart - raised its arm and began shooting its gun. Lancer dodged, retaliating by severing that one's head too. As he kept himself occupied with the rounds from the last one's gun, Lancer made his report.

Zombies? We might have a zombie problem, Master. I don't think we'll get any intel out of these things. Should I just off this last one too? Or perhaps I can get it off my tail and we follow it around. It had to come from SOMEWHERE.

As the four of you continue up the road - taking care to avoid any of the masked zombies in the area - you find yourselves at the wall. "A fair warning, dear friends. We've moved far enough away that I can't detect Archer anymore, meaning he probably can't keep track of us either. Still, that's what these little fellows are for." From somewhere across the wall, you suddenly hear gunshots.

"My my. Sounds like things have gotten a bit violent over there. What say the lot of you?"

"Tha--t's the... place." Berserker - in a stark contrast to Caster's eagerness to investigate - seemed uncertain on if getting a closer look was the right move or not. It wasn't like one would have a hard time though. Just go through the arch in the wall and follow the sound of the gunshots.

archer.pngCordula_Bachmayer.jpg

"Firstly, I want you never to do that again. Your generous down payment is the only reason I didn't have you killed as soon as you outed yourself as an imposter. Secondly, IF you come out the winner... I'll have to think about it. I've only heard loose rumors about the thing, but the Holy Grail can grant just about any wish, can't it? All the advancements I've made in necromancy - by myself, mind you - getting some recognition wouldn't be too bad. You'd think those stuck-up asses at the Clock Tower would look past the fact that I'm some 'first-generation mage' and 'not even formally educated in magecraft' to at least hear me out."

Cordula didn't seem sure about that being her final answer. Something else was on her mind, perhaps.

"I'd hate to interrupt your negotiations, Master, but it seems we have a problem," Archer stated, finally materializing himself. Which prompted some gawking on Cordula's end. She obviously had never seen a Servant before. In particular, she seemed interested in his face, and more specifically the injury on it. Which in turn prompted growing irritation from Archer, before suddenly and bluntly asking "You want something? Maybe one to match?"

"It's nothing."

Turning away from Cordula to more directly face you, Archer cleared his throat. "Anyway, our problem. I've lost track of Caster and Berserker. They were heading north and then I lost them."

"Funny you should say that. I just lost a few of my men due north of here. Four down in a matter of seconds. Must be one of those magical nukes you were talking about."

I'll wave to Rider and his master as they leave. Looking to Assassin at her question, I'll say, "well, we can leave them be for now. He stands out enough that he's either that strong or that stupid. In either case, it'd probably be best to not draw suspicion to ourselves until we're absolutely sure. Though, we can go to the docks later. After all, if he's a pirate, he's going to want a ship right?"

I'll then follow the man with Assassin at my side. Grabbing the yellow card, I'll look to Assassin saying, "they didn't mug us yet, nice. Now, we've found our guy. All that's left is...We need to figure out what we want from him. I really should've thought this through." I'll chuckle to myself and keep going forward.

Given that no fighting has occured as of yet let's leave all avenues open for now, I'm not against any strategy if it gets us what we want though, as for the... Zombies? I don't see it going to somewhere if it's mindlessly wandering as is... But if you feel it's worth investigating you can certainly follow it and see what information you can glean, and obviously leave some remnant of one here for when our friends get back from there shopping trip.

"Do what again? Teleportation magic?" I tease. "Sorry, sorry, I didn't want to just barge in, so I used magic to feel out the situation. It won't happen again, I promise. "I like the sound of that. So, here's the plan..."

As you and Rider discuss the course of action he had in mind, you stroll about the streets of Little Vegas, in a mostly southward direction. The bright lights, as well as the occasional sight of someone dragging themselves out of a casino, clearly expecting to win it big but having wound up spending all their money, seems to be a recurring theme around here. If only you didn't have to hand over your winnings earlier, you probably could have bought a few souveniers. As you got out of there and approached the large wall separating the inner and outer city, Rider nodded as he wrapped up his explanation.

"Course, that's not a small job. I can set everything up myself, but it won't go easy on your mana if we really want to make sure the other Masters can't not investigate."

Indeed. And if he and his Master are on a ship... they have nowhere to run.

As you head into the building and hit the right buttons on the elevator, the long ride up begins. All that was left now was figuring out what it was you wanted from the man in charge. "This seems to be quite an establishment," Assassin observed. "Not just in scale, but the casino at ground level was impressively decorated. Between that and the car, the owner must be quite wealthy indeed. Although, it's not like we have much need for money in this kind of situation. Especially not in that amount."

"What's up with this weirdo you mentioned?"

Tuna in hand, it's time to see what Declan was on about at the other fish stand.

"That boy. I saw him just the other day. Says he's friends with the local priest, but I ain't ever seen him before. Something about him just doesn't feel right. And he shows up outta nowhere one night, on the very same night that warehouse goes kaput?" As if it wasn't clear enough which one he was talking about, the man points at the charred building not far from here. "Not a coincidence, I tell you. Local hearsay is it was some gang bullshit, but I know better."

Feeling reassured at having the communication devices, I follow along with the others. But I balk at the sound of gunshots. "I'm not sure if going in there's the right idea...what if they shoot at us or something? We'd probably die, or at least get injured, and I don't remember much from my first aid class except what to do if somebody's choking..."

I send Caster in alone.

"Leave this to him," I assure the other two, "I'm certain that Caster can handle it."

"You worry too much, Master of Berserker! In a worst case scenario where we get shot at, you have a Servant to call your own and use as a meatshield! If something as trivial as a gun killed one of us, why, we ought to be ashamed to call ourselves Servants. Leave the investigation to me." As Caster stepped through the gates, and into the other side, immediately an interesting observation came to mind.

Fascinating. Now that I'm here on the other side, Master, I both see and detect another Servant, fighting a few of those vile zombies we saw before. Not only that, but I wasn't able to detect him over where you are, even though he's clearly close enough for me to pick up on him from there. He doesn't strike me as an Assassin, so we can rule Presence Concealment out. Veeeeery interesting. Course of action?

"That's the place... I know it."

A few seconds later, you hear Archer's voice come through the device Caster had made. Seems he found the other one.

"Can one of you explain to us what the hell is going on up there?"

I'll get it off my tail and follow it some, then. Where there's a zombie, there's someone pulling its strings. Just moments after saying that, however, Lancer paused. He was sensing something. Over... there. Near the wall. As Lancer nonchalantly shoved the blade of his weapon into the last remaining zombie, he broadcasted his next update. Change of plans. We've got new company. Over by the wall, I've found another Servant. This graveyard must be pretty popular today.

"Do what again? Teleportation magic?" I tease. "Sorry, sorry, I didn't want to just barge in, so I used magic to feel out the situation. It won't happen again, I promise. Anyways, to be honest, I have a fair shot. I mean, mages don't pay attention to the people around them, so if I take advantage of that, then you know, I have the best chance of winning. Although, if you're not sure yet, I'll let you think about it. However, I will point out... I'm like, 95 percent sure someone with a servant set up shop in your territory. Somewhere to the north,"

"I'd hate to interrupt your negotiations, Master, but it seems we have a problem," Archer stated, before suddenly and bluntly asking "You want something? Maybe one to match?"

"It's nothing."

"Anyway, our problem. I've lost track of Caster and Berserker. They were heading north and then I lost them."

"Funny you should say that. I just lost a few of my men due north of here. Four down in a matter of seconds. Must be one of those magical nukes you were talking about."

"Oh no, oh no...," I mutter as I rub my forehead. "Okay, Berserker's going berserk, aren't they?" I muttered as I stand up. "Well, here's my contact info, text me or call me when you make a decision. I'm gonna try to clear everyone out now," I say as I turn, walking away. As we leave I turn to Archer. "Wait, you lost them? Did they vanish into thin air? Is it an enemy trap or something?"

archer.png

"Based on where they were, I doubt it's a trap. You know that big-ass wall around the inner city? I lost them as they were closing in on that. It shouldn't be far enough away that they'd slip out of my radius, though. The area they're in wasn't trapped just a few minutes ago when I passed through, but a bit past that is that place I found where I got caught in an actual trap." As the two of you step outside, you can faintly hear Berserker's voice in the bushes you'd scoped this place out not too long ago.

"That's the place... I know it."

It sounds tinny and full of static. As if she were speaking through a cheap-ass speaker system. Archer wastes no time investigating, checking around in there and returning with a tiny, vaguely golem-shaped device. Must have been something Caster put together. Probably in a hurry, based on the look of it. "Can one of you explain to us what the hell is going on up there?" Archer asked into the device.

I talk to the golem as much as to Berserker and her master.

"It seems there's another servant out here fighting zombies. Caster isn't sure why he couldn't detect them, as they don't appear to be an assassin... And someone like that seems like a major concern. If Caster can pull this servant away, can Berserker get the drop on them? Possibly Archer as well."

"Oh? Any theories in particular?"
"Doesn't sound like a servant or master to me. Not all too worried, looks like won't get any actual important information here."

Once I hear the man out I'll ask where to find good tofu around here and then head there.

"What do you know, Berserker?" I ask, then turn to the others, specifically Caster. "Meatshield...what a sad word. I don't think I like that word or what it implies. Which means I don't think I want to do it that way, either." I then turn to his Master. "And wait, what?! Are you suggesting we ambush that person? Who's not even attacking us? Also, what if, after attacking them, we get attacked ourselves? By the evil zombie horde?!"

"Can one of you explain to us what the hell is going on up there?"

I answer as well. "Uhh...it's a long story?" I chuckle with some embarrassment. "I guess we went out of range or something. And there's a person here with a Servant who's getting attacked by zombies..." I trail off, hesitating, before speaking again. "What about helping them out? Maybe we can make another friend."

Another servant? Interesting. We best make use of the alliances we have formed, can you get in contact with Saber and his master? I hope they'll forgive us for interrupting their leisurely shopping trip. In the meantime I'll hole up in here, hide a little further into this building and I'll set a detection trap at the front door in case any movement is detected.
