Diluculo de Inhio [OOC/Not Accepting/PG-16/Advanced]

Recommended Posts

On the cusp of a new millenium, the world as we knew it prepared for the year 2000. Some looked forward to the beginning of the 21st century, others were absolutely certain that Y2K would be the end of it. The world was full of hopes, prayers, dreams, wishes, and, most of all, uncertainty. After all, it’s not often that the world is either entering a great new chapter or ending!

At that time, the world at large was not aware of how much power their desires truly had. After all, youth around the globe had begun to awaken abilities beyond that of a normal human. Most of these abilities were simple, enough so that they could be used in daily life without garnering much, if any, attention. It was simply believed that an exceptional generation had been born, a freak spike of evolution. However, this was simply the message relayed to the world. Some of the youth had been born extraordinarily powerful, with abilities straight out of a comic book or manga. Those with strong emotions seemed to have more power, though one emotion took the lead by far: desire. So these abilities came to be called Id. The governments of the world are seeking out ways to classify these powers, aware that there’s a limited amount of time before they’re completely public knowledge.

As part of a United Nations initiative, the Diluculo, the most outstanding young adults from around the world were drafted and gathered, numbering around 300 in total. In a bid to prevent Id from being used for ill purposes, these youths are meant to become valuable assets for each of their countries, as well as the world at large. Split into varied groups that are stationed at different parts of the world, each branch of Diluculo are charged with handling Id based crimes for hundreds or thousands of miles, or kilometers, around.

You are one of these recruits, on the threshold of an amazing adventure, some sort of powerful desire driving your forward. Your particular group is stationed in New York City, where you do your task and receive training for using your abilities more effectively. During your time with the Diluculo, you will meet people from all walks of life. But, your number one task is to keep the existence of Id under wraps, for the time being. After all, we wouldn’t want the world to really come to an end… do we?

-----

I think that covers most of what the RP would entail. You play a group of young adults between the ages of 17 and 24, having to handle villains, as they were, as well as the potential exposure of Id to the general public. Somewhat guild-esque and episodic, with a home base that will be the setting for most of the down time. If multiple missions are assigned, players will normally be allowed to choose which one they would rather take on.

And remember, any Id should be, in some way, tied to that person's desire(s). This is within 1.5 generations of the appearance of Id to the world, so they haven't really had time to develop or mutate too much.

A bit unsure about adding more to my plate, but this also sounds like some form of shounen that I've been feeling an itch for, so I'll go and pend interest for now.

Alrighty! Due to the interest that has been shown + people who have joined the discord, this is now officially an OOC, app, database, and all!

The discord and database are now linked in the OP, so make sure to consult the database as you work on your app!

I would give an estimate of how many I'm accepting, but I'm still deciding on the best number.

Good luck to everyone! ❤️

Captain Russia

Spoiler

blyat.png

"Being in a new country is certainly a change in pace. Everything is so similar, but also so very different. I'd recommend it!"

Name: Sergei Shustakov
Age: 22
Birthplace: Perm, Russia

Appearance:

Spoiler

9uTW8zz.png

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 172 pounds

Personality:

Spoiler

A gentle and jovial soul with a passion for living life to the fullest, Sergei readily embraces both the good and the bad that life has to offer him. After all, you can't have only one or the other; you need both so that each one has context. In that spirit, Sergei likes to try new things, and keep doing things he's done before and enjoyed. Ultimately, his greatest interest besides truly living is people, and learning about them. Languages, cultures, and history are like mental playgrounds for Sergei, and being so interested in people, it should be no surprise that he's absolutely NOT a lone wolf type. Although it's a fairly recent shift in personality, and he can be a bit awkward because of it, Sergei is actually quite the extrovert. The introvert concept of a "social battery" still exists with him though, so expect Sergei to have prolonged bursts of social activity followed by holing up somewhere by himself to recharge for a while.

Biography:

Spoiler

A normal Russian boy born into a normal Russian family, Sergei's only claim to any degree of fame was the butcher shop owned by his mother. It was one of the oldest and one of the most popular in the entire city of Perm, and it had been family-owned since its founding. So naturally, Sergei - being an only child and intended to be so - would be next in line in a proud family tradition of butchers. Which was very awkward, because Sergei was and still is a vegetarian for ethical reasons. When his parents divorced, Sergei chose to live with his father, freeing himself from the life of a butcher he didn't want to live.

This move proved to ultimately be spectacular for his mental health. Although he wasn't a wreck before by any means, Sergei was overall in much better spirits after the move. After high school, he took up a simple job as a bank teller to get work experience while studying his way through college. And frankly, the college life had both the best and worst moments of Sergei's life so far. Falling in love, falling out of love, making and losing friends with some of the most interesting people Sergei's ever met, and a non-zero number of wild parties and subsequent hangovers. These, combined with a starry-eyed look at the cultures of the world via his anthropology major and the very passionate professor thereof, truly sparked the flames of desire in Sergei's heart. Life in college taught Sergei what it was he wanted to really do in life.

"I want to live."

It was this desire that awakened Sergei's Id, and also made him the unsung hero of the day at college when one of the students had gone berserk armed with a knife. Sergei was able to subdue the student, and heal off a stab wound he'd received in the process. Rumors of a boy not getting hurt at all when a madman stabbed him got around in town, and ultimately into the ears of Diluculo. An organization Sergei heard from shortly after receiving his Bachelor's in anthropology. An organization that wanted him under their wing. Upon learning more about Ids, how they worked, and whatever he was able to pry out of his recruiters, Sergei ultimately accepted, but on one condition.

This was a golden opportunity to see the world, so Sergei was only willing to take the job if he could work somewhere outside of Russia. His recruiter, a tad miffed at such a condition, shipped Sergei off to a small no-name branch just outside of New York City, granting his wish in a sort of monkey's paw way. Not that he minds.

Weapon of Choice: Shield
Id Type: Augment
Id: Vitality

Spoiler

Simply put, regeneration, and a whole lot of it. Any wounds that aren't immediately fatal to Sergei can and will be healed off in short amounts of time, with "lesser" injuries like broken bones and torn muscles healing within seconds. This has the convenient side-effect of letting Sergei use the full strength of the human body with little consequence. However, just because he can heal off wounds at breakneck speeds doesn't mean he can't feel pain. This Id has also seemed to halt his aging, but with how recently his Id has awoken, this won't have any visible effects for several years.

Misc.

Spoiler

A polyglot in the works, Sergei is fluent in his native Russian, as well as English and German. He's been studying Spanish and Polish lately, too.

Afraid of heights. Since he didn't want to fly in an airplane, Sergei instead came to America via boat.

"Heh...anything you can do, I can do better. Just how it is!"

Character Info
Name: Austin Rankin
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Venice, Los Angeles, California
Appearance:

Spoiler

tumblr_n6nnnptcGj1slkrdjo1_500.jpg

Height: 5'9"
Weight: 145 lbs

Personality:

Spoiler

If you met Austin back when he was younger, you probably wouldn’t have been able to tell him and his twin brother apart. The two acted so alike: kind, friendly and very respectful. But Austin began to slowly step away from this, just to try and find his own identity, being fixated on not just being “the Other Rankin Twin”. Because of this, Austin started to twist his personality to be his own person to find some sort of validation in not being like his brother...and for him, it felt so good!

He became more conceited and arrogant, starting to lack any humility whatsoever. Being concerned only with his amusement, he takes things head-on due to now having a rash and impatient nature, plus he figures whatever is ahead will definitely give him a bit of a challenge. Unfortunately, this can definitely lead to him making poor decisions, which in turn will cause him to fail...which is something he is constantly feeling. Austin hates having to rely on others for anything, but realizes in some occasions he has zero say so he ends up complying, just to get things done. Along with that, he can easily be provoked to anger and can get highly violent if someone tries to question his abilities or even throws up his brother at him.

While this is the case, he uses this to hide the fact he has a crippling inferiority complex...either that or this change in personality was caused due to it. Then again, it's not something he really cares about...not anymore. At the end of the day, the only thing Austin cares about is showing everyone that he’s not only NOT his brother, but he’s better than him in every way.

Biography:

Spoiler

“Do you know what it's like to have someone have the exact same face as you and constantly be compared? If you don't, then you have ZERO room to talk!”

Austin was born in Venice, Los Angeles, along with his identical twin: Bartholomew, Bart for short. The two of them were inseparable from the get go, and it would eventually be something that Austin truly hated, but until that day, he was enjoying his time with his brother. The two were always having fun, playing and even laughing together. However, things began to take a turn when his parents started to take a bit more of a liking to Bart, even to the point of neglecting Austin. This began the slow descent for the young man.

Bart could do no wrong, he was a true protégé in the eyes of everyone they came in contact with. Unfortunately, that also put plenty of pressure upon Austin. Every day, he heard those words from everyone: “Oh, you must be as good as your brother!” or “Can you do this better than Bart, Austin?”. It began to infuriate him, so much to the point that he wanted to run away from all this. Unfortunately, he figured that was the coward’s way out. So instead, Austin tried, he tried quite hard to be just as good as Bart...but in the end, he was just an utter failure. This constant cycle of trial, error, being compared to his brother and being neglected to the point of feeling inferior continued as they grew.

Soon there came a point where Austin did what he could to change everything about him: his mannerisms, his dress, dying his hair...the works. But he still couldn’t shake the fact that they just saw him as Bart’s brother...or worse, the failure of a brother. It struck Austin and it made him finally acknowledge a strong deep seeded desire that he had: he wished to be different than his brother, truly. At the same time, he wished to be better than him too. The desire for validation in this regard was finally known...and it unlocked something known as an Id for the young man. However, Austin didn’t know that this little power was unlocked and present...not until he was a bit older.

On a trip to the beach to get away from everyone, Austin found himself being mugged by an individual that he would describe as “supernatural”. He couldn’t tell what this person was able to do, or how, but he knew one thing: Austin apparently was able to do the same thing. It pretty much freaked both individuals at what transpired, but needless to say, Austin came out of this unscathed. And after this little encounter, he was approached via letter addressed to him by a group simply known as “Diluculo”. After reading it, which addressed that they knew of his "power" that they labeled an "Id" and that they were offering a chance to help the world, in a sense. Without a second's hesitation, Austin gathered his things and headed off to join Diluculo, where he knew his brother couldn't do what he could...and now he could definitely prove he was better in every way than him.

Combat Info
Codename: Crocotta
Weapon of Choice: Gun - Smith & Wesson M&P40 | Chains
Id Type: Augment
Id: Idposter [Validation]

Spoiler

In quite an ironic twist, Austin’s Id grants him the power of mimicking the powers of an opponent or teammate, as he tries to use it better than the user by observing the chosen Id. However, this won’t be a full strength variation of the target’s power, but a half of what it should be. This may mean that he can’t be too strong when the time comes, but it’s not that simple, there’s a caveat to his Id. If there’s enough exposure to the original Id, the mimicked power increase goes up by 75-80%. Unfortunately, Austin can only mimic one power at a time (approximately during a small time limit), so the possibilities of mimicking more than one at a time are impossible.

  • Austin’s name means the following: Austin - An English name, meaning “great, magnificent”, Rankin - A Scottish and Irish name, this is a diminutive or Ronald or Rand, with the suffix of -kin.
  • The naming scheme of this character comes from two separate characters from Marvel Comics who happen to have a similar power to him: Augustus Roman/Regent and Calvin Rankin/Mimic.
  • He has a bit of a codename or nickname that he likes to use when he can: "The Idpressionist".
  • Austin's birthday is November 29th. This is in tribute and remembrance of my late father, who's birthday was also November 29th.
  • Austin came about after looking at a character and their motivation, the character being: Scourge the Hedgehog, the Anti-Sonic/Evil Sonic. Because of this, the character was helpful in Austin's creation.
  • This marks the second character that doesn't follow my normal routine of Shonen Protagonist methods with RP characters: the first being Jet Hoshimi from Yu-Gi-Oh!: Project Crimson.

She's Got one

Biography:

Spoiler

For the first ten years of her life, Setsuko had a relatively normal life. Her parents weren't rich but her needs were taken care of, she was a student of average grades, she had a few friends and some wistful aspirations that she's long since forgotten. Around the time she was ten, though, things started to take a turn for the worse. The world around her was changing, and rapidly at that. Japan had hit an economic decline, harder than it ever had before, and her once modest living situation was suddenly teetering on the brink of poverty. With her parents hitting hard times, their relationship began to deteriorate and her own home started to become a bit hostile. However, remembering happier days, Setsuko decided to see if she could do something about this.

As she knew her parents had always been happy when she did well in school, the girl decided that the best way to start improving her life was to just do better. This didn't work out so well. Though they were still happy for her success, it hardly seemed to make a difference in their relationship. If anything, it started to make things worse. As Setsuko started to do better, it became a standard that she would do exceptionally well. And so when she did anything worse, her parents would start to get mad with her. Eventually, the two started to bare all of their aggression and frustration about their life on their daughter, putting the full weight of their expectations on her. She was expected to do be perfect. Do perfectly in school and get the highest marks on all of her tests. She was expected to be perfectly polite and sociable with all of the people around her. She was expected to constantly be thinking about her future and trying to keep up with a constantly changing world, so that the technological boom wouldn't leave her in the dust when she got out of school. She was even asked to get a part time job to help support them, and so when she entered high school she found a place she could work at at night and lied about her age to get it .

Despite the unreasonable expectations put upon her, Setsuko still worked and matched them to the best of her ability. Yet it was starting to be clear that her health was taking a turn for the worse. Always seeming to be tired and nervous, the girl continued to work tirelessly without anyone to help support her. Until finally, when she was at work one day and collapsed from exhaustion. Sent to the hospital, the girl stayed there for a day as she was treated, reflecting on how she had got there. She could realize that it was all over now. She knew that her job had likely found out she was lying to them, and was likely going to be fired. She knew that news of this would reach school, and probably effect her life there. She knew that her parents would be nothing short of disappointed with her and that she had failed them. As she continued to reflect on all of the choices she had made in her life to get here, she started to wonder why it ended like this. Ultimately, she realized that she forgot why she was doing this to begin with.

She hated having to stress over every single exam like her life was on the line. She also felt antsy being overly polite and subdued whenever talking to anyone. She hated having to work after school every night and having to lie to work at all. She remembered that she did all of this to make her parents happy, because she thought it would make her happy. And now, in order to be happy, more than anything else, Setsuko just wanted to be from this sham of a life she lead. After reaching this conclusion, that night, Setsuko left the hospital. Running away from home and all of her responsibilities, Setsuko decided to begin her life of freedom anew .

Feeling high on rebellion and being homeless, Setsuko spent the next few months of her life being nothing short of an outlaw. Stealing from stores, painting up the town with graffiti, living in abandoned buildings and even doing minor acts of vandalism, all without being able to be stopped due to the sudden awakening of a mysterious power. Though she was having the time of her life, Setsuko also knew that this wasn't the life she wanted to lead, and was still just off the mark. Unsure of how to approach this issue of hers, she didn't really know how to proceed with her end goal. It was then that her minor acts of crime had caught the attention of the Diluculo. Though she was apprehensive to join an organization that she didn't have much say in the matter, she figured that perhaps leaving Japan proper was the breath of fresh air that she needed to figure out how to best attain her freedom. And so, she accepted the offer, hoping to find brighter sights over the horizon.

Shy Canadian

Spoiler

Character Info
Name: Ann Fernace
Age: 17
Birthplace: Sweet Grass, Montana/Coutts, Canada
Appearance

Spoiler

mdxHxf3.png

Usually found in a black or blue hoodie. Prefers to keep face covered, usually a hood.

4'8", 91lb

Personality

Spoiler

Ann is likely the most distant person you will ever meet. She generally avoids conflict in normal situations, and is scared of accidentally giving someone unnecessary pain. She is shy, yet kind, in the way that she doesn't want to hurt you. She's jumpy, and is quick to get up and move half way across the room to avoid someone. But she is at least understandable and focused, while knowing that it is not anyone's fault. This however is a stark contrast from how she acts on a bad day, overwhelmed by the pain of the past and present. She acts with mean, almost malicious intent. It almost seems like she is going out of her way to punish those who have caused her pain, which is everyone at some point. However, it usually passes quickly, mostly because she forces a bunch of pain on someone, in which she apologizes and flees the scene weeping in her hands. She simply wants to end the pain felt by those around her.

Biography

Spoiler

Ann Fernace was born to Jessica Fernace and Dennis Kendris in Sweet Grass Montana. Dennis was a Canadian from Coutts, a nearby town across the border. They got married soon after, and thanks to their new Dual Citizenship, they lived in Canada and Jessica worked in the States.

Ann's life was good, at least in the beginning. School was fine, and she did well enough. She learned the piano and French, began to learn good decision making (Yes it's a class). It seemed like she would grow up to be a model human being.

However, the home front was unstable. Ann's Parents simply were not compatible human beings, and they took this out on Ann. It led to some sleepless nights on her part, and it created a desire to understand why. To understand why people hurt each other like this. And then she did. Almost two years later, in her Freshman year of High School, Her Id revealed itself to her, in the form of Pain. She felt the emotional pain her parents were going through. And more she could feel. She could feel her neighbor stub his toe, and two kids in the house across the street wrestle with each other. It was too much for her. She ran from home that night, and was promptly overwhelmed by the pain of a small Canadian Town. She ran as far as she could.

She was eventually found two years later in Quebec. She was originally going to be returned to either of her parents (They had divorced at that point), but then, on complete accident, she touched the Service Worker on the Hand, and the worker felt the pain of the relationship issues, the Emotional Abuse from her parents, and the service worker stopped her return to Coutts and sent her to work with a special agent of the UN that happened to have an Id that would give her some emotional peace.

They sent her to live with a man named Ivan Gorginsky, who was the son of some Russian Immigrants. He had an Id that could block out the senses of anyone, an Illusion Id. In this person, she found solace. He taught her restraint, and how to minimize the pain she felt. He taught her Russian, and showed her how to dance. She went on many trips with him, and with him, she had peace.

However, this was not made to last. This was only a temporary assignment, and she was relocated to New York City. Ivan assured her that she would be safe. The night on the plane was the hardest she had ever had since she was picked up by Ivan. She continued to struggle, and continues too, even now in the outside of one of the largest cities in the world. She has had difficulties, but her hardest one yet begins soon.

Combat Info
Id Type
: Medical
Id: The Curse of Pain

Spoiler

Ann can feel pain of people around her, emotionally and physically. She can also remember it with excruciating detail. This comes with many additional perks and disadvantages. Firstly, she can also subject others to the pain she has felt with a touch, which was frightening the first time she used it. Secondly, she has a high pain tolerance due to the constant torture she goes through. Thirdly, she can absorb the pain of others around her by touching them. Fourthly, which is the most important part, is that the more time she spends around a person, the more hinting of internal pain comes along. Eventually, this manifests itself as a revelation, where she experiences the most painful memory that person has. The downsides are large and dangerous. Experiencing that much pain has had some effect on her mental sanity, giving her some quirks. Many fear however she may experience too much pain and simply snap. It also gives occasional headaches, insomnia, and has made her mentally unstable more times to count.

Other Information
Knows English, French, and Russian.

Knows Piano, enjoys playing classical music and playing it in other styles, such as playing "Fur Elise" in a Jazz Style, calling it "What Beethoven Would Have Wanted".

[Place in spoiler. Simply explain the life your character led up until they joined Diluculo. Did they join willingly or were they forced? What is their truest desire, and why is it such?]

Combat Info

Id Type: Elemental
Id: Bringer of Light

Spoiler

Wherever there is a source of light emitting any sort of brightness, Adel possesses the ability to manipulate its particles at will. This type of manipulation creates a special type of matter composed of pure light upon which Adel can use to form condensed objects in the air and control them as he pleases. Objects created this way contain a combined brightness equal to the sum of its particles, enough of which could deter vision or even cause blindness.

Weapon of Choice: Dual Pistols - Dotted with holes down the barrels and intentionally not loaded with ammo, Adel uses the reflective surface of these pistols to channel his ability to form and project bullets of condensed light. In a pinch, or in this case if there is no other sources of light around to utilize this technique, Adel has battery-powered flashlights embedded into the back of each pistol pointing down the barrel that he can turn on and draw power from if needed.

The Pages Turn

Character Info

QYPADCW.png

"They say actions speak louder than words. I say; work with both."

Name: Cade Laurent
Age: 19
Birthplace: Lyon, France
Appearance:

z3TyqF6.png

Standing at roughly 5'4, Cade is a relatively small person. Actually, a very small person. He doesn't have the stature that a male of his age would normally have, which one would think is a sore point for him... But it isn't. He wears his height with pride, especially when his Id started to blossom.

Personality:

For most people, the development of an Id would probably be a startling thing, but for Cade, it was just the beginning of a lifelong ambition. The ability to control written word in ways that no one else could. And that would be the main thing that summed up his personality, he was overly ambitious in a way that... Probably wasn't healthy. His single minded devotion to literature was something that infested every aspect of his life from an early age, from the way he studied in school to the way his parents had a hard time dragging him out of the house without promising a trip to the library for him to pick out new books.

It wasn't a matter of him not being sociable either, when he did interact with people, he was capable of holding a conversation, it's just a matter of him not being invested enough in other people to do that. When his nose wasn't in a book, there was usually someone keeping him from being able to just that. Where other people would likely spend their downtime finding ways to react, his downtime is near identical to his uptime, working with his books to figure out whatever topic might be on his mind that day.

The best use of him, in his opinion, tends to be in the research department. He can go through books with almost no effort, in no small part to his Id making the process of running through a book much quicker. He gets straight to the point with his research and tends to avoid dragging out conversations about it, often leading with the most important information.

It's not like he was particularly conceited, particularly filled with anger... If anything, it was apathy for anything that wasn't part of his focus, part of his world of books.

(Still more to add, I think)

Biography:

Born in the third largest city in France, Cade was lucky to be a part of a wealthy family with a position of power in the city. As state officials, his parents were able to afford to send him to a private school where he was given the chance to establish an early understanding of the world and what he was going to have to deal with as time went on.

But, ultimately... That's all his life was. He didn't make the time for socialization, aside from the endless dinner parties and charity events his parents attended and sometimes would drag him to, using him as a way to show what good parents they were, how they sacrificed some 'luxuries' like longer vacations and a slightly larger home to make sure that he was cared for. They received praise for how much they cared for their son from some people, but the truth was that they were using him as an image booster.

He was knowledgeable and received praise in school for being bright, for being a quick learner, his parents must have been so proud. But no one really cared about the truth. His parents provided him with everything he wanted, but they didn't care about what he wanted. He would request books because he knew they would, maybe sometimes, ask him questions about what he was reading or studying and he could talk about it. Have their attention for a brief moment, but ultimately, it always ended the same way. They went about their business and left him on his own, only with the help to take care of him.

From a young age, it was like this. Each year at the private school was the same in that regard, only the topics that he studied really changed. His parents paraded him around as he did well on his tests, received academic awards, excelled in a few select academic extras, but it didn't change his parents. As time went on and he gained more independence, he started spending more time at the library, digging up information on ways he could sever his ties with them and pursue his own ambitions...

But with the turn of the century, it became clear that an out to his situation had presented itself, one that he wouldn't even have to alienate his family to take advantage of. Books in the libraries that he frequently visited were beginning to respond to him before he even got close to him. Books he looked for were turning up next to him, before he even moved... And over time, he was able to focus this control to a point where he could send books from him to their precise shelves without worry about them winding up in the wrong place.

It became a sort of... Party trick. His parents, while they should have been worried, saw it as a chance to create even more of a reputation, their son was something special. The reported cases of this sort of power forming were few at the time, and they were able to keep it in their inner circles for a while. He was a spectacle that they could bring out to entertain people...

And he wasn't too keen on showing people. Aside from his parents parties, he didn't show it off, he kept to himself and had started to spend more and more time in the libraries. His research had become more than just figuring out information people already knew, it was about figuring out why his Id was allowing him to do these things. He needed to know more, and he wanted to figure it out. His schoolwork started to slip a bit past 'acceptable' levels by what his parents deemed, but at this point, he didn't care.

Month after month was spent in the library, controlling books and moving them around, all while he did what research into the new phenomena... As limited as the understanding of it was, he was able to piece together one very important fact. It was based on desire. The reports all seemed to agree on that, as they came in, but he couldn't figure out any specifics...

As time went on, he started carrying around a larger backpack, more books of all sizes and shapes... And with his power, they weighed almost nothing to him. They moved as he wanted, even in the bag. At the cusp of his nineteenth birthday, he began experimenting with larger waves of books, walls and in one situation, a mountain of books from his personal collection. The last one was a resounding failure... But he was getting stronger. And here, he was unable to hide it anymore. Word got out about the boy who was a bit too attached to books, and he received a bit of a letter in the mail.

An invitation. By some organization gathering other people with strange powers like his own. His parents were deadset against it at first, but he managed to talk them into it by appealing to their need for social recognition. Surely, if their son was working with a group in an attempt to aid the world in such a way... It would reflect well on themselves. People would know they were wonderful people after that, and their political careers could soar even higher...

He didn't care either way about what they thought, but it was a lot easier to get there if he had their support. After packing his things, they gave the go ahead and arranged a private flight to the location mentioned in said letter, giving him an easy way to make his way to Diluculo.

Combat Info

Id Type: Elemental
Id: Literary Manipulation

Put simply, Cade is able manipulate books. The base level is the ability to freely move books and papers around him, forcing them where he wants them to be, making him a fantastic librarian. It's a very simple power at a base level, he can move books around, use them as platforms when he has enough control, create walls and strike people with them...

Whether it's drawing books closer to him or attack people by lashing out with them, he can do it. The scope of his power is relatively limited in the number of books he can control at right now when it comes to fine movements, but creating large waves and walls, if all the books have the same goal in mind, it isn't too hard for him to accomplish moving them.

The last major application of his power right now is the ability to rapidly repair books. Giving the nature of his Id, it's pretty important that he's able to do that, but the scattered pages of a book can easily be dragged back to him and repaired, making it exceptionally hard for someone to remove his weapons from him.

As time goes on, his power could develop even further obviously, but one of the main things that his power could develop into is the ability to alter words written on the pages themselves. This would give him the ability to alter memos, hide information from people, falsify records... But that would, more than likely, be an end game ability.

Other Information

His original desire was to be loved by his parents... But because his studies were the only thing that they responded to, it twisted as his Id began to manifest itself. He stopped caring about their approval and all that was left was a single-minded drive for knowledge, for the ability to access any book, no matter how restricted it was.

A few of his extracurricular activities: He briefly joined a Debate Club that was later shut down due to a lack of interest, he frequently helped in the library and got on good terms with the school librarian, he briefly joined a football team, but a combination of his parents not caring to attend, plus a minor ankle injury, led to him quitting the team. His parents never mentioned that one again once it was over.

He got minor lessons on how to play the piano from his primary caretaker at a young age, but nothing of it really stuck. He even forgot it happened in the first place.

Current Mission Earnings

Mission 1 - $250, spent $150.

Personality:

Spoiler

A true showgirl, Diana loves the thrill of being onstage with all eyes on her. There's only one thing that makes her happy and her whole life worth while, and that's a smile on everyone's face, especially when she was the one responsible for it. No, that's not enough. It actually goes deeper. She has a need to have all eyes on her cheering out her name in excitement as she takes the forefront of the situation and makes sure she's in the spotlight. Regardless, she lives for the moment and will always be the one to be the face of any group, even when she was explicitly told not to.

Diana tends to act more out of impulse than any structured plan. Whatever happens to cross her mind at a given moment is what she will do, not considering the consequences afterwards.

Biography: [Place in spoiler. Simply explain the life your character led up until they joined Diluculo. Did they join willingly or were they forced? What is their truest desire, and why is it such?]

Spoiler

Diana was raised by the Church family. The Churches were farmers who got by with a low standard of living, but still just comfortable enough to raise a child. Unfortunately, Mrs. Church was unable to conceive a child, so instead they adopted a daughter. Diana was ecstatic to finally get a new chance at life to be happy, but the site of her new home left much to be desired. The house was rugged and the only thing noteworthy was the fields of crops and livestock.

One day, a circus came to town and the Church family went. Diana had a wonderful time watching the performers pull off feats that she could only dream of. One that especially caught her attention was the magicians. It amazed her how they could make an entire elephant vanish before her eyes, how a person could be sawed in half and be put back together without any damage, and how they could escape from a situation that surely would have killed them. From the way the audience cheered them on, Diana realized that she wished she could be the one down there in the area on the receiving end rather than the giving end. She wanted to become the greatest showgirl she could possibly be, giving her the confidence she needed to pursue her dream of being in the spotlight making others cheer out her name in joy.

For her next birthday, Diana asked for a book on how to perform magic. As soon as she got it, she spent weeks with her nose in a book learning simple tricks and using any free time at school to research harder tricks. She would attempt to perform these tricks at the local park where she would draw a small crowd of the other kids.

Later in life, she would get her first real shot at the spotlight as the assistant to a magician named Oldor, who had just gotten his first live show at a older theater. However, he ended up screwing up several acts, leaving no one impressed. Not wanting to disappoint anyone, and further not wanting Oldor to be humiliated, she wished she could take the stage and perform herself. This is when her Id awakened. She suggested doing a trick where he would make her levitate. She imagined herself levitating and focused on the image of herself levitating. She heard the gasps of not only the audience, but also the look of confusion on Oldor as he went with what he was seeing, his assistant practically flying above him.

A social media post about the performance caught the attention of Diluculo, who at first believed the Id to first be a levitation Id, but further investigation revealed that it was actually an illusion caused by thought projection. An agent was dispatched quickly to recruit her. At first she was hesitant, not wanting to leave her current life behind, but some consideration, she realized that joining could give her the chance to make the world a happier place, and she would be responsible for it. Without a doubt in her mind, she eagerly accepted, ready to begin a new life.

Combat Info

Spoiler

Id Type: Illusions
Id: Thought Projection - For a brief moment, Diana can force words and images into other people's minds, feeding false information to opponents. More complex images and ideas take more time to fully register. These images could prevent someone from seeing someone else or from seeing things that are not really happening. However, these images cannot be felt, so for combat usage, so the effectiveness of this ability in combat is often circumstantial. A group can be affected, however the effectiveness of these projections is lessened by distance and size of the group, so images that wouldn't take much attention to detail are best for crowd control.

The images can be maintained, but she cannot be distracted while doing so or else the image will instantly break and will have to be regenerated.

Hey! No slacking, cabron!

Personal Information

Name: Lucia Emilia Soto Garcia
Age: 18
Birthplace: Torreón, Mexico
Apperance:

Spoiler

hoshino_girls_und_panzer_and_2_more_draw

Height: 5'6"

Personality:

Spoiler

Lucia is a very curious girl, wanting to learn as much of the world around her as possible. She is especially curious about the animals that she loves so much, wanting to learn and protect animals. Her curiosity and desire to learn, alongside her background of busy working, has made Lucia a very hard worker, never slacking nor half-assing anything she does. She is also determined to do whatever it is she sets out to do, not letting anything get in her way.

She is also very athletic, spending a lot of her time doing physical work. That, alongside with her attention to her diet has made her a sort of health nut. This is sometimes a problem, as she is very outspoken, and is quick to scold you for unhealthy life choices. She is also a bit rough around the edges, having grown up playing with the boys has made her pretty tomboy-ish and competitive.

Biography:

Spoiler

Lucia was born and raised in Torreón, Mexico in a relatively large farm with a relatively large family. Lucia was always a curious child, having a fascination with animals and, surprising everyone, baseball. When she wasn't going to school or helping with the farm, she was out in the streets playing baseball with the local kids. Her life was pretty peaceful, if not busy, as she focused her time with helping around the farm and her career goal of becoming a Wildlife Biologist. Her curiosity grew as she did, as she tried to learn as much as possible. Between that, the farm, and baseball, Lucia's day was very busy.

It was a pretty regular Tuesday for her that night. She had recently graduated from high school, and was now sending applications to every university and college she could. She even looked into studying abroad, as there were tempting offers over in America. Plus, she could learn more about baseball over there. She was excited, to say the least. As she tended to the goats, she could only think about how much she was ready to learn about these majestic creatures. Her desire to know more had exponentially grown as she learned more and more.

And, as she was petting one of the goats, however, she felt strange. Her head rang as she clenched her closed her eyes, collapsing on the ground. When she opened her eyes, she saw the goats were startled, bellowing as if their lives were at risk. As she picked herself back up, she felt something was... off. Slowly, she looked at her hands.

And was greeted by hooves.

She let out a scream, falling back over as she backed away from the goat. She went to look over again, refusing to believe what had just happened. Had she turned into a goat!? No, not quite - as she stood up on her two legs, she noted it was just the hooves. That, and the new pair of horns that she had just grown. As she tried to calm herself down, her father came out the door, and his face went paler than it normally was. "El Cucuy!" He screamed, running back in the house. She panicked, knowing exactly what he was going back in to reach. In a tense moment, she bolted out of there, running as fast as her legs would take her. Which was a lot farther than she normally could run - sure, she was pretty fit even compared to some of the other boys, but this was absurd.

And so she ran in a panic, just running. She wasn't sure where she was running, but she had to get away. As she ran, she heard people scream different things - Cucuy, Chupacabra, and Manuel. As she ran, however, she felt someone pull her into an alley, catching her off guard. "A-Alejate!" She screamed, telling whoever it was that grabbed her to stay back. However, much to her surprise, the mysterious man that pulled her over wasn't freaking out. She tried to run, but the man was relatively big and his hold was, while not painful, strong. As the man explained himself, and after a back and forth between what had happened and who he was, things were making sense. The man worked for a group called Diluculo, and offered to recruit her. She denied almost immediately, before the man reminded her about what had just happened. He promised her they'd figure out how to control her powers and that she'd be able to both learn more about the animals she love, and potentially make the world a better place for them. Hesitantly she agreed, not wanting an incident like this happening again. With a heavy heart, she turned her back on the city she called home and left with the mysterious man.

Combat Info

Id Type: Formshift
Id: Call of the Wild

Spoiler

Lucia has the ability to morph her body to imitate an animal that she touches. This includes growing limbs or transforming her current limbs - for example, touching a bird could let Lucia grow wings that allow her to fly, or she could touch a crab to transform her hands into gigantic pincers. The animal parts she copies is proportionate to Lucia's size and not the original animals, and Lucia can only copy generic traits of the animal's class, not specific species traits (i.e. touching a mantis shrimp will not give her super sonic punches). The transformation happens quickly, and only lasts for an hour. While Lucia has a transformation, they cannot transform again until the transformation is over. This includes reverting the transformation back to his human form.

The Perfect Storm

Spoiler

Character Info
Name: Rock Dinovaldo
Age: 24
Birthplace: America
Appearance

Spoiler

3zMEsYo.jpg

Height: 6'5

Weight: 270 lbs

Personality

Spoiler

Rock appears to the common people as a stern, angry, and a bit of a hardass. Physical appearances are deceiving though, as his fellow recruits will attest to. Rock is a laid back, wisecracking, and all around slacking member of the organization, never really taking his duties seriously. He's in this for fun and everyone knows it.

He loves a good fight, actively seeking challenges and receiving them. He especially loves being pushed to his limits, so even if he is beaten, bloody, and bruised, he will fight with a smile plastered on his face. He likes his fights to be fair, so he will let someone recover in order to be able to fight them at his best.

He does have a dark side, however. His anger is a ticking time bomb, and when the countdown is complete, he explodes into a unrelenting fury. At this point, he'll fight with everything he has, not caring about the damage his attacks can cause to the things around him. This unrelenting fury will not stop until he has destroyed the target of his rage. He has even fought while unconscious, just to demolish the thing that angered him.

When he gets like that however, he usually is relying on pure instinct, making him easy to predict, with the added side effect of him not clearly remembering what happened. He also hates fighting that way, as he wants to know how he defeated his enemy, instead of being told it.

He occasionally gets a bit uneasy in his position in the group. After all, all he really can do is fight. He feels as if he loses his position, he'll have nowhere to go, and nothing else to do with his life. As such, he is very defensive about his ability to fight and to serve as a member of Diluculo.

Biography

Spoiler

Rock doesn't remember his family, or if he even had any in the first place. His first memories were of an orphanage. However, he doesn't remember too much about it, as he was quickly adopted at the age of three by a man called Doc.

Doc had recently lost his family in an accident, and in an attempt to fill that void, he adopted Rock, traveling across America and teaching Rock how to box. The boy grew up with the art, his childhood molded by it. As he grew older, he honed his skill, and realized he was really good at fighting, and began to enjoy it more and more, until it was nearly an obsession.

He worked himself to punch harder, faster, stronger, all the while taking on Major Boxing Leagues. Doc had trained Rock well, and he quickly rose in the ranks of the league, where he soon learned an awful truth. At the higher levels, not only were a majority of the fights rigged, but there were dire consequences for not playing along with them, which was leaned the hard way when Doc was attacked by some convenient 'muggers' one night and sent to the hospital.

Despite his love of fighting, Rock was beginning to feel shackled and restrained by his sport, especially since he was forced to lose often to someone with a more marketable face. During one fight, he had enough. He didn't want to be bound, to be forced to hold back.

I want to be free.

Going against what he was told, he went for a massive, fight ending uppercut on his opponent... and in that moment, his Id manifested in front of everyone in the audience and on live TV. A mighty gust of wind turned into a small tornado that threw his opponent out of the ring. Doc was worried about all these developments, and frankly, even Rock believed that he was perhaps too hasty.

However, retribution from the boxing puppet masters never came, as Rock was approached by Diluculo. With the promise of strong opponents and protection for his adopted father, Rock eagerly joined the ranks ready to fight... and save the world or something.

Character Info
Name: Arash Ahmadi
Age: 20
Birthplace: Turkey
Appearance

Spoiler

izm81te7hac31.jpg

Personality

Spoiler

Arash is a man of contradictions. On the outside, he seems to be a friendly and emotional guy, always willing to lend a helping hand or to listen when he needs to, but in the inside, he rarely feels anything. He wishes to help everyone around him, but refuses to take care of himself beyond what is needed to function.

He knows it's hypocritical, but to him, it's all he has to live for. It's the path he will travel, no matter what stands in his way.

Above all else, he is self sacrificing to an extreme. Helping others and working towards a world where everyone can smile is his goal, and he will do anything needed to make it happen. He wishes to help everyone he can reach, and is glad that he can join Diluculo to extend his reach as far as possible.

Biography

Spoiler

Fire.

That is the first thing Arash can remember. The burning air, the screams of dying people becoming silent, the awful smell. It was hell on Earth, and the ten year old was stuck in the middle of it, trapped under rubble with no escape. He was a good as dead, with no hope of salvation.

However, despite all the odds, before the last of his life drifted away, Arash was found. A man dug him out of the ruins of the village, tears streaming down the older man's face as he smiled at the survivor. Despite the burning hell around him... that smile reassured the boy, showed him a beautiful dream... and would spark his life long passion.

I want to become a hero.

He was taken to the city to recover in a hospital, where he learned a few things. He was the sole survivor of the fire, and the cause of said fire was unknown. Some thought it to be a very bad gas leak, or someone with a Fire Id. Arash couldn't speculate, as he couldn't remember a thing from before the fire, the trauma searing the memories away. Still, it didn't matter to him. All he wanted to do was to make sure that he would become a hero, and prevent that hell from ever coming back.

He soon discovered he had an Id of his own, but where did it come from? Was it something he had from before the fire, or was it something that manifested because of the fire? He didn't know, and he didn't care. For the next ten years, he trained his body and Id, until he was confident enough in them. He then became the vigilante known as Failnaught, going around and helping people by stopping criminals.

Word of his existence soon spread to Diluculo, who recruited him. He eagerly accepted, seeing this as one step towards his dream.

Combat Info
Id Type
: Augment
Id: Strength of a Hero - This Id allows him to enhance up to two of his physical capabilities for up to ten minutes with a five minute cooldown, the most common ones he uses being his eyesight and arm strength. In order to not run his time limit out, he prefers to use this power in small bursts instead of leaving it on all the time. He can also have larger bursts of power, but doing so can damage his body, and greatly reduces the time he can enhance himself while lengthening his recovery time.
Weapon of Choice: A bow and arrows and a small dagger.

"Time to begin the experiment!"

Spoiler

Character Info
Name: Tateru Raidā
Age: 18
Birthplace: Japan
Appearance

Spoiler

68747470733a2f2f73332e616d617a6f6e617773

Personality

Spoiler

If one was to describe Raida in one word, that word would be curious. He loves to experiment and learn how things work, anything from machines to Ids. He can be easily attracted to anything that is mysterious and interesting, such as new innovations, and will relentlessly pursue it. This will continue until either he reaches a conclusion or someone forcibly stops him during progress.

Despite being very smart, he's a very happy go lucky kind of person and loves to be praised. Combined with an inflated ego and a sharp tongue, he can be a bit unbearable to be around, especially when he praises himself or teases others for their comparatively lower IQ. He likes to depend on his own skills to accomplish things and never expects help, so is sometimes taken off guard when someone offers to help him.

He firmly believes in fighting for peace, and sees working at Diluculo as a means to that end. Honestly, he rather be researching and building rather than fighting or doing missions, but will square up when needed to.

Biography

Spoiler

Tateru Raidā was born to two brilliant scientists, both who were assigned to research the Id phenomenon. As such, he grew up around a lot of Ids, which sparked his thirst for knowledge. Seeing his parents work hard and discover new things lit a fire inside of him, giving him one clear desire.

I want to discover new things.

When he was 7, Raidā discovered his power while messing around with a simple experiment about powering a clock with a potato. He had absorbed the wires, giving him a coppery form. Both he and his parents were fascinated by this power, and they all began to study him as a family project. They soon learned the limits of his power, and even helped him push it farther than he thought he could, allowing him to absorb two items at once.

When he turned 15, his parents were approached by Diluculo in order to help the organization research Ids even further. Of course, Raidā went along with them. While he wanted to join a team right away and use these powers outside of sterile lab experiments, he was refused, due to being too young. However, three years later, on his 18th birthday, he was told he would be transferred to New York in order to join a Diluculo team. He, of course, jumped at the chance.

It was finally time to begin the experiment.

Combat Info
Id Type
: Formshift
Id: Henshin! - By touching an object, he can absorb it and gain physical properties of said object. For example, he can grab a rock and gain the hard exterior of the rock. He can do this with up to two objects at a time. The object itself disappears, and will not return until he de-transforms. He can only hold a transformation for 15 minutes at a time, and if he is hit significantly hard enough, he can be knocked out of said transformation.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

Spoiler

Character Info

Name: Siew Chen (Chen) Luo, (罗秀全, hok. Luo Siewchen, man. Luo Xiuquan)

Age: 21

Birthplace: Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia

Appearance:

Spoiler

b086715a6a11d2032da68d19924a8e04851d38ea

5' 8", average build, 150 lbs. Chen prefers wearing simple Chinese-style clothing while not on duty, but will wear what is practical while on duty. He prefers yellow and black.

Personality:

Spoiler

Bold and outspoken, Chen naturally tries to take a commanding role in any given situation. This tendency gets him into trouble when dealing with people of actual authority, as he rarely gives them the respect due to them unless they have earned in it some other way, However, his need to command everyone around him did not make him an authoritarian, encouraging his ‘followers’ to give their input in situations where they excel, encouraging them with his raw charisma, and mediating personal conflicts wherever they appeared. Despite his strange mysticism around his motivations and his destiny, he is otherwise a shrewd and pragmatic leader.

Chen, a natural tactician, constantly draws up plans for almost any situation and avoids entering any situation without a plan, approaching everything in a slow and methodical way. When he comes up with a plan that his teammates all agree to, he expects all of his teammates to stick to it. Teammates who do not stick to the plan often find themselves being condescended upon and lectured incessantly by a concerned Chen. However, when his plans go wrong, he is excellent at thinking on his feet, quickly coming up with new plans on the fly and accepting any and all blame for the mishap, whether he was the cause or not.

Due to his traumatic past, Chen finds scenes of persecution and government oppression intolerable, finding it difficult to maintain his composure around them and those who perpetrate them. Considering himself a warrior for liberty and democracy, he often goes out of his way to undermine anything he considers to be oppressive towards the helpless, protecting those who cannot protect themselves. Conversely, when confronted by criminals who are acting out of survival or economic desperation, Chen is more than willing to turn a blind eye, apprehending them only if they show that they are acting out of selfishness or greed.

When not on duty, Chen does not rest for long, busying himself by keeping up with the politics of several countries and keeping up with the operations of his own political organizations. When he finally settles down, he is usually found in prayer and meditation in front of an ancestral shrine or reading classic literature and philosophy. He is also an excellent cook, having spent a lot of his high school days working in his parents’ restaurant, specializing in the Southeast Asian cuisine of his homeland.

Biography:

Spoiler

Chen spent his formative years in Pontianak area, living within a relatively wealthy enclave in the countryside. His family was troubled by near constant harassment from the native Indonesians, caused by the government’s anti-Chinese policies at the time. This harrassment was exacerbated by his family’s refusal to drop their Hokkien Chinese names and adopt Indonesian names in defiance of the law. Chen was not exempt from this harsh treatment despite attending a private school, causing him to become withdrawn socially until his parents made the decision to immigrate to America.

When Chen was 13, he and his family immigrated to Los Angeles to escape the rumored “death squads” of government hitmen sent to crush dissent amongst the Chinese minority within the country. The more welcoming environment brought Chen out of his shell, proving to be an eloquent and intelligent public speaker, eventually becoming a prominent member of his school’s Mock UN Club. It was in this club where he eventually found the subject of his obsession that would define the rest of his life.

The club decided to hold a series of mock UN sessions that revolved around historical failed states and short-lived independence movements, where Chen was assigned the Lanfang Republic. While researching his assignment, he realised that not only was his family West Borneo, where the bygone Republic once ruled, but that he was distantly related to the founder and first president Luo Fangbo. While he argued ferociously on the behalf of his ancestral homeland during his mock UN session, he was unable to succeed in his objectives, marking a rare defeat in his otherwise perfect record. This defeat marked the start of his obsession with the Republic, lasting well after the end of the club’s activities.

Chen’s Id manifested around the time when his obsession with the Lanfang Republic reached its fever pitch. During this time, Chen would spend all his free time at libraries and historical societies, attempting to scrounge all surviving records of the bygone Republic. What few records he could find and what the confused historians could tell him only reinforced the futility of its struggle against Dutch and British imperialism. His dejection reached its peak when his family received news of his distant relatives in Southern China being oppressed by the Communist Chinese government, being forced from ancestral homes to make room for settlers from the mainland. The news deeply troubled him as he thought that the Hakka and Hokkien people had a homeland in China and that growing persecution from the Han majority was quickly proving him wrong.

That night, Chen had a dream where he spoke to Luo Fangbo himself, who implored him to found a new homeland for the Hakka and Hokkien, such that they can avoid persecution and forge their own destiny. His ancestor also beseeched him to revive the lost tradition of Chinese democracy and to liberate all of Asia from the yoke of dictators and tyrants once the homeland was founded. At the end of his dream, his ancestor handed him a glowing clay ball, saying that it would provide him with the power to call upon the earth to create new lands.

When Chen awakened, he found himself clutching the same clay ball from his dreams. The next three days were spent fussing over the lump of clay, trying to discover how it could be used to create new land. At the end of the third day, Chen nearly dropped the ball onto the ground in exhaustion, only to find himself holding it in space using only his thoughts. After discovering his Id, Chen began practicing its use, first in secret, later in public when he used it as a dramatic flourish during public rallies. This flagrant public use drew the attention of the Diluculo Organization, who paid him a visit and offered him an opportunity to develop and refine his newfound powers. Hoping that he would be able to make good on his promise to his ancestors to create a new homeland, he accepted the offer.

Combat Info
Id Type: Elemental
Id: Land of Our Fathers

Chen controls the earth around him, bending it to his will. His control appears to be limited to moving dirt, sand, and stone, but he hopes to be able to control more earthen materials with practice. His manipulation appears to be telekinetic in nature, allowing him to instantly pull forth mounds of dirt, create simple stone structures, and even throw rocks with great force. However, Chen prefers more defensive use of his abilities, using walls and mounds to absorb incoming projectiles and obscure enemy vision.

Weapon of Choice:  Ithaca Model 37 shotgun, equipped with bayonet, buckshot, beanbag rounds and slugs. The stock is stained bright yellow with the characters "客家" (Hakka) written on them, representing the flag of the Lanfang Republic. The bayonet is wider that standard and is engraved with the phrase "I strike at the heart of tyrants" in Hokkien.

Lala M.D.

Spoiler

Character Info
Name: Lala Taylor
Age: 18
Birthplace: Greymouth, New Zealand
Appearance:

Spoiler

pesz19h.jpg

Personality:

Spoiler

Lala is a very soft-spoken and shy girl, but has a heart of pure gold and loves to help people in need.  Usually Lala can be found baking snacks for her friends, or writing cute romance novels, but whatever she's doing she loves to share her interests with others.  She bakes mainly to please her friends, and tries new things all the time to get their opinions on her culinary improvements.  In times of need, Lala would be the first one you'd want to talk to.  She's kind, caring, and understanding, and might even let you lay your head on her lap should the situation be dire enough.  But don't expect her face not to turn bright red in the process.

Biography:

Spoiler

Lala was born into a loving family on the island of New Zealand on the 20th of February.  Her father owned a local Bakery store on the outskirts of the city of Greymouth, where the also lived in the studio above.  Lala loved to be apart of the baking process, even as a toddler.  Her father let her whip the icing, and make any shape of cookie she wanted.  These were some of their best selling products, as they were labeled 'Made with Love from Lala' on the store counter.  She was basically the mascot of the bakery growing up, and even started to work there even into her late teens.  Lala wanted to continue her work in the family business, but hoped to one day own her own bakery, and have her own family!

However, that dream was cut a little short when the family was driving home from a recent vacation into the big city.  On the way back, an intense thunderstorm blew their car off the road and into the face of a cliff.  With her mother relatively unscathed, and her father in critical condition, Lala begged her father not to leave.  Not before she was able to have her own store.  Miraculously, a pink light began to light up the dark night sky from her hands, as her wish seemed to come true right in front of her eyes.  Although she was growing sleepier by the second, she could tell that her father was going to make it when she started to see his chest rise and fall at a normal pace.

The next day, she woke up in the hospital, along with her parents.  The doctors described that the father's bones and organs had grown scar tissue, and gotten stronger, as if years of healing had passed the instant he had become injured.  With no answers as to how this was possible, it was determined that a plain miracle had happened that night.  However, rumor began to spread that it must have been more than just a miracle.  Some weeks later, government officials had stumbled into the Taylor Bakery, asking for Lala.  Nervously, she was interrogated on the spot.  She told them her memories of the night, and waved them off as some sort of delusion.  The agents seemed interested, and poked more into the details.

After a harsh grilling session, the agents seemed to believe she had what was called an Id, and that with her specific Id she could save people.  At the thought, Lala was immediately on board.  Helping people was what she was best at in life, and if there was a place for her in a group like that she wouldn't hesitate to join.  The next night, Lala packed her bags and hugged her parents, and hopped on the next plane to New York!

Combat Info
Id Type: Medical
Id: Transfusion - Lala can transfer her life essence into another person to speed up the healing process by touching the person directly.  Her palms shine with a pink aura during this process.  The more severe the damage, the more it drains Lala.  Usually, eating sugary snacks or taking a nap is all it takes to recharge her once again.  Through her touch, Lala is able to determine the severity of wounds and where damage is located.  Lala can also use this power to drain another persons essence for herself.
Weapon of Choice: Weighted Yo-Yo

Captain Russia - Sergei Shustakov

Sergei fits well enough in, and my only major gripe with the app is that his Id may be a little bit too potent, over all. Seconds to heal a broken bone is pretty strong for so early into the era of Id, so maybe make it closer to a minute. Maybe 30 seconds is fine. Even so, the idea that he can go full scrub with it seems a bit much for me, overall.

That said, I appreciate that we have a tank so early on. It's a good niche to carve out.

Copycat - Austin Rankin

Austin seems about in order, though I do question the... choice of weapon. However, I think it's fine to start there. I just doubt it stays there, with time.

Id is fine, considering I helped you with the balancing points. He seems like he makes more sense as a support than a DPS, but if he wants to try and DPS, it's his to try.

Shy Canadian - Ann Fernace

Mmm... Her image is broken, but otherwise I like her a lot. The Id is a different way of tackling empaths, and I'm excited to see where it takes her. Personality, bio, and all seem in order, so as long as you fix her image, seems solid. And she's a more genuine support than Austin. Extra points for the great Id name!

If both Ann and Austin make it in, it seems like their Ids could be used to help one another out.

The Pages Turn - Cade Laurent

Seems great, overall. We already discussed the in-story limits of Cade's Id, and I can see a number of inspirations in the character. Definitely feels like support, too.

Host's note: BREE INSISTS THAT CADE IS DPS.

Nothing up my sleeve - Diana Church

A nitpick, but it reads a little choppy... like, the prose just doesn't have great flow. Not the biggest crime, just a minor thing.

As for the character, Diana should work out decently. I'll have to rely on you to not abuse her Id too wildly. It's a powerful ability, which is very easy to cheat with. It can work, but it depends on you to keep it in check, should I accept your app.

Seems like she can perform support well, but I don't think she can defend herself well with just a cane, as-is. We'd see where it went.

The Perfect Storm - Rock Dinovaldo

Worst thing I can say about it is that the Id feels a little unbalanced to me. Not sure if it's slightly under or over, but it's not too much, either way.

I think this is a solid app to lead with, and I'm excited to see the other three as well, so that I can gauge which one I like most. And hey, someone that's actually DPS!

Oh, and more bonus points for solid naming.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness -  Siew Chen Luo

Honestly, there are parts of his personality that feel like they conflict. Being coolheaded enough to solve when things go wrong, but also flies into a rage if things go wrong via disagreement? That just doesn't... make much sense, at least to me.

And as a nitpick, it doesn't really make sense why he was contacted. He never made a spectacle out of his Id in any way, it just... happened, and it's fairly inconsequential to his biography. More just a bridge to get him into Diluculo.

Especially because his Id feels the most disconnected from his desire. If it appeared after his dream, then it makes some sense... But it sounds like it appeared just before the dream, which just feels ????.

Solid name for the Id, tho. Seems like he's another tank.

Lala M.D. - Lala Taylor

Seems mostly in order. My biggest nitpick is how quickly Diluculo got there after she used her ability, considering her parents were still unconscious.

I'm also not sure how I feel about it being used offensively. I'm also curious about how it activates. Does she need to touch someone to use it? Or does it just happen when she wills it to, contact or otherwise? I don't hate the idea, but I would like a bit more detail, and maybe a sort of limit on the draining.

Truth and Lies

Spoiler

Character Info
Name: Akiko Gekkane 暁子 月光羽
Age: 22
Birthplace: Japan, Shimonoseki Province

Spoiler

Appearance:

moe-anthropomorphism-zebstrika-pokemon-b

Spoiler

Personality: You could say Akiko is rather happy-go-lucky, cracking jokes and pranking fairly frequently. Though they're also fragile, someone she considers a friend telling them to shut up making her nearly shut down and try to avoid them as best as possible, sometimes even winding up using her own Id on herself to tell herself truths about herself in order  to feel better.

Though sometimes if she was in a dark enough place she'd start to tell herself all of the lies she said as if they were true. She tries her best to avoid using her Id on herself due to this, although otherwise she's quite peppy!

Spoiler

Biography: Akiko was born in Shimonoseki, and as such was quite close to the areas of Japan known as the "Sunny Side of the Mountain" as well as the "Shady Side of the Mountain" in reference to a mountain chain going through her province. Her family always told her a story about the mountains she had been fascinated with while she was growing up, influencing some of her beliefs.

Her time as a child was for the most part unremarkable. She always found herself telling people little white lies to make them feel better than what she considered to be a black truth, her philosophy unbreaking from that of the story she was told. Although, she would usually be found miserable after someone found out she had lied, bullied and any friends she made quickly breaking off telling her lies were unforgivable, even if she had seen their smiles when they had been told them.

More recently, she had been in college, taking care on her tests and attending classes. Until she recieved the call from a detective about an incident that had occured... On the day of the incident she had decided to journey up the mountain, but when asked if she would take the path on the Sunny Side or the Shady Side she had decided to walk the much longer route horizontally across the mountains, desiring to see if each side was truly Shady or truly Sunny. On her journey she saw that the story had been exaggerated, seeing patches of shadow on the Shady side and bright, shining meadows on the Sunny side, though only in more less-trodden areas.

While she had been out, she got a call from the police, saying her family had been taken from her. The detective she had spoken to didn't seem to mince words, letting her know her parent's bodies had been found posed around their dinner table, as well as a spot marked for her in what they could confirm was the parent's blood. A suspect had been apprehended to the detective, and she was told he was setting up someone to take her into protection just in case.

After being told such a black truth, Akiko had nearly choked as she responded, "They're dead?//They're alive damnit!" The detective seemed to calmly ask, "...Miss Akiko, is someone with you?" She simply responded, "What? No, of course not!//Not that I know of..." Whoever this detective was seemed to be silent for a moment, "...There's a change of plans, Miss Akiko. You have 8 hours then I need you to meet a contact of mine at the base of the mountain, where the Sun and Shade meet." And her cell phone went silent. She didn't know what to do. 8 hours? That wasn't enough time! Although, she might be in danger...

On her way back down she had been lost in thought, realizing her true desire: To see the Sunny and Shady sides being able to interact with eachother, ever since she was a kid. And now she knew that this mountain showed her it was possible. Then, when she had managed to get to the bottom, there was what she assumed was the contact, "Miss Gekkane?" Akiko seemed frozen for a moment, "Yes?//No?" as she responded, the contact seemed to nod, "Seems what the detective told me was true." And the last thing she saw was a flash of white and the ground rocketing toward her face, before unconsciousness greeted her.

Pins & Needles

Spoiler

Name: Marcel Barrett
Age: 19
Birthplace: New Orleans, LA
Appearance

Spoiler

latest?cb=20150722022610

Personality

Spoiler

Marcel doesn't like to socialize and is often mistaken for shy but in truth he can't stand to talk to others, to people that can't understand his condition and who he can't relate to. Still he tries to remain pleasant and good natured on the surface until whoever he's talking to takes the hint and leaves him alone. Marcel can't stand others talking about his condition and makes it a point to remain vague about it.
Marcel doesn't much care about the pain he inflicts on others, reasoning he's experienced much worse for much longer and he deserved the reprieve no matter the cost. It's not all that uncommon for Marcel to actually take pleasure in the suffering of his victim to a small extent.

Biography

Spoiler

Marcel Barrett was born with unknown form of Chronic Pain Syndrome. What started as a dull tingling in his fingertips and toes as an infant slowly spread, at age five his elbows and knees were numb and moving his hands or feet in certain ways caused searing pain, at ten the pain had spread to all of his joints and he began using a wheelchair as the pain of walking often made him collapse. By the time he was sixteen he'd somewhat adjusted, in part aided meditation and physical therapy, and was able to withstand the pain basic movement caused if he had to but it wasn't enough.

As he grew up Marcel became increasingly jealous and spiteful towards his able-bodied peers. No matter how used to his pain he got and no matter how much he was able to manage and lessen it, it would always be there holding him back from the kind of life he thought he deserved. Playing outside, hanging out with friends, even just going out for groceries, all things he could never do without at the very least significant discomfort. He reasoned if he had to feel constant pain it would be the kind he could be in control of.

It all came to a head one day in school. the first day of his senior year, he'd rolled up his sleeve without thinking and exposed his scars to a new, and incredibly nosy and socially inept, girl at lunch who immediately began berating him for his "self mutilation", telling him that things would "get better" and that he needed to "be stronger" and resist. He couldn't stand it and began driving a small pin from his bag into his palm out of frustration. To his surprise the pain stopped and he felt at ease, meanwhile the girl, although he was unaware in his blissful state, began screaming about a stabbing pain in her hand. It was as if all his anger had been directed through that needle and into the incredibly self righteous girl. After finding out what had happened and putting two and two together Marcel began hiding needles all over his person and using them to redirect his pain to his classmates, both alleviating his suffering and getting some form of petty revenge at them for having the kind of carefree life he'd longed for.
Eventually several groups took interest in the "school curse", interviewing students that had experienced the inexplicable pain trying to find an link between the victims, researching events that may have been connected, looking over the schools history and construction. While most saw nothing and gave up, reporting in the article, blog, or whatever else that it was a freak occurrence one one supposed reporter was determined to find the truth. eventually they made the connection that most people who experienced the phenomenon shared a class with Marcel, seemingly the only one in his grade that hadn't been afflicted. One thing led to another and Marcel ended up recruited by Diluculo to train his newly discovered Id in hopes of using it to permanently end his pain.

Combat Info

Id Type: Medical
Id: [Sado-Masochist] Marcel's Id allows him to transfer the pain he feels in a given instant to someone within eyesight. There are some limitations, in order to activate his Id he must inflict some sort of pain to himself in the form of a piercing injury (stabbing, cutting, being shot, ect.) and the pain transfer is always proportionate in time, intensity, and location to the damage he does to himself. While the suffering is transferred to his enemy the actual wound is not, overuse of his Id could easily lead to unknowingly bleeding out, additionally until his Id deactivates he can't feel any physical pain and therefore has almost no way of knowing if he's been injured.
Weapon of Choice: several small knives and needles

Other Information

Marcel always carries bandages and disinfectant for himself and is sure to clean his weapons regularly.
He speaks English, French, and (although not very well) Vietnamese
while at the base Marcel uses an electric wheelchair to lessen the stress on his body
in order to use his Id as effectively as possible Marcel studies human anatomy to learn how to cause the most amount of pain with the least amount of damage
