Yugioh - The Fractured Dragons [Interest Check]

Recommended Posts

It was 2000 years ago to this day. 2000 years ago when the fate of Humanity was turned from its path.

In ancient times, the fledgling race known as humans lived side-by-side with Monster Spirits. Creatures from another realm that crossed the bridge formed by Humanity's natural spiritual connection. A mutual friendship was built between the two, and the Earth was protected by five shamans, and five incredibly powerful dragons that had partnered with them.

Their fate was to bridge the two worlds, but then, They came. Called the Zeitghast, they were an alien species from the ruined planet Zaes, seeking a new home.

Humanity offered little resistance, but the Five Dragons were the greatest threat they had ever known. But they were prepared. For with their fleet they brought the EX.Machina, five titanic bio-mechanical mechas. The Five Dragons and the EX.Machina fought, but while the dragons lost strength from constant battles, the EX.Machina never tired, thanks to their Infinitude Batteries.

It was inevitable that the dragons would lose, and their shaman allies perished. In shame they fled to the Spirit World, and went into hiding for fear of the Zeitghast finding them. But to be certain, they shattered the only direct link between both worlds, cutting Humanity off from the Spirit World. With no defenders left, they surrendered, to the Zeitghast.

It is now the 2000th year since the Zeitghast won, and the future between both races is... tepid, at best. The Zeitghast had to drag humanity into their future, and after much time, the humans learned. They learned maths. They learned science. They learned the language of the Zeitghast. And they learned who was the dominant force on this planet.

Humans and Zeitghast live collectively in their cities, wiling away their days. With it being excruciatingly difficult for humans to enter high-ranking positions, their capacity for art has flourished. They invented their music, their songs, their dance. They crafted art, and sculpture, and clog dancing. Humanity, without need of running their more important aspects of their lives, live for self-satisfaction and enjoyment.

To aid in this, the Zeitghast analysed data collected via their Hyperspace Technology to draw information from the Spirit World. And in doing so, they created a card game to keep the humans entertained. In the Zeitghast's language they called it Card Battles, but the slang names of "Yugioh" and "Dueling" were picked up instead.

Great battles were waged with solid vision technology, and, quite interestingly, many of the Zeitghast even picked up the game it was that surprisingly enjoyable. And through this game, Duel Spirits managed to return to the world. And thanks to their former ties from long ago, every human player would possess at least 1 Duel Spirit that had bonded with its matching card. But, much to the dismay of the spirits, humanity had lost the language the Spirits spoke, and their spiritual ties were greatly weakened by their dependence on technology. The voices of the spirits were often described as Illusory Noise Syndrome, and was endemic to most humans. The voices were left ignored, and life went on.

But with this reunion, five angry spirits stirred in the Spirit World. The Five Dragons, still hidden away in unsuspecting forms, had to bear 2000 years of rage and hatred. And now, with this card game granting them a link back to Earth, it was time to find five new shamans. It was time, for their revenge.

Spoiler
[The Zeitghast]

The Zeitghast are an alien species resembling a children's scribbled drawing of what they perceive an alien to look like, with plain round blank grey eyes, and a grey crescent for a mouth. They hail from the planet Zaes, which they had fled 2000 years ago due to abusing its ecosystem for resources to the point they had even drained its core until the planet was hollow. Vowing to never repeat such an offence ever again, they took what they had and made an exodus for the nearest habitable planet, which had been Earth. Though wishing a peaceful surrender, they were forced to use the EX.Machina in order to defeat the Five Dragons.

Having conquered Humanity, they chose to elevate the species in lieu of extermination, thus allowing both species to co-exist. Zeitghast, in spite of allowing 2000 years of learning, still hold a condescending view of humans, to the point no human can ever govern a city, and it is rare for them to go to university or hold high-ranking jobs. Zeitghast are naturally more intelligent than humans; not simply opinion, but fact. However, due to their unsettling appearance, they tend to wear fake human suits to keep the real humans at ease. The empty eyes are typically ignored by most people.

Zeitghasts possess a natural affinity for mental abilities, with many of them picking up one form of power. Most typical tends to be telekinesis and telepathy, though pyrokinesis, cryokinesis, and other powers have been seen. The rarest of them all are mind control and mind reading; both of which are utterly outlawed in Zeitghast society.

[Humans]

Originally a species with a high affinity for spirituality to the point they could connect with the Spirit World, their upbringing by the Zeitghast have diminished this ability to the point that it is near useless. They are still able to faintly hear the spirits that have bonded with their decks, but due to having forgotten the language of the Spirits in favour of the Zeitghast's language, they can no longer understand their allies.

They are, without a doubt, the main contributors to the arts and entertainment industries, having made use of Zeitghast technology to create movies for entertainment, as well as recording music. Most humans are usually pushed towards these interests by Zeitghast teachers, in order to ensure humans don't strain themselves thinking too hard and trying to involve themselves in the science.

Under Zeitghast rule, humans live by stricter laws, including a curfew that disallows humans below the age of 16 from venturing out of their homes after 6pm until 6am. They also must apply for a grant to have a child from the government, to prevent overpopulation. These laws are adhered too not out of loyalty, but sheer apathy as Humanity inherently accepts their circumstances.

[Earth]

Earth, in the hands of the Zeitghast and their terraforming technology, has become a beautiful planet. Former desert regions are lush and beautiful, and the ice caps are treated with intense regard. All nature is left alone, with the humans and Zeitghast living together in 20 cities across the globe. They use very little in resources, and it is unknown what powers these cities to the point that no pollution is made.

[The Spirit World]

A parallel world coinciding with Earth, it is a place filled with strange and unusual monsters. Originally an ally of the humans, they have waited patiently ever since the day the link between worlds was broken to see Humanity again. However, they were not happy with what they saw.

[The Five Dragons]

Incredibly large and powerful beings that could maintain a physical presence on Earth due to their power and their bond with the shamans. They were defeated and they fled to the Spirit World, planning one day to return to seize their revenge.

[The EX.Machina]

Six massive bio-mechanical mechas. There were five that were brought with the Zeitghast fleet to act as protectors, and to deal with any forces that may resist them on their new home. Where they are now is a well-kept secret by Zeitghast officials, though it is alluded to that the first ever EX.Machina was left behind due to being impossible to complete.

Said to have an evolving Artificial Intelligence that could learn as it lives.

[Vengeance Signer]

A name given to the Duelists who are chosen by the Five Dragons.

[Black Hunters]

The name of the elite Zeitghast force who enforces laws against Humanity; typically curfews. They are equipped with stealth technology to efficiently hunt lawbreakers.

This sounds very interesting. Gives me a post-apocalyptic vibe where if the signers lost to the immortals. Count me in.
