Eltain.

What is it now?

We've got a problem. A gnoll problem. Vile creatures. And a whole pack of them, at that! Five, ten... twenty? Yeah. Three groups of five, one group of four, and what seemed to be a leader of the bunch. These guys must have been behind all the trouble around here. Putting them down sounded like a good course of action. Gnolls.

You don't say. How incredibly observant you are.

I want you to get behind them. If they make it to these carts, we'll need to swap out. Although she could totally use an axe, calling her skilled in a straight fight where she was outnumbered three to one was a bit of an exaggeration. With those kinds of odds, she was better off staying in the back and thinning out the herd with arrow after arrow. That was her role in this group, and she didn't have any intention of fighting against it. As Lindow readied a crossbow of his own and supplied Reinaan with one as well, before firing upon the gnolls, Pyrrha opted for the new bow she'd picked up at the market. This was a great chance to try it out. Besides, she'd tried out using a crossbow once before. Not a big fan.

Once Lindow had settled on his target, Pyrrha wasted no time turning her bow, aiming her arrow appropriately to the same group as she hurried to one of the wagons, taking aim from what she considered the best possible angle. Taking out a whole group at a time would give them more angles to breathe from. Probably. Pyrrha was never much of a tactician beyond what she herself was capable of. At the very least, she'd have an easier time where she was dealing with this group, even if the rise in elevation wasn't that much. And so, Pyrrha fired off an arrow, intent on helping either cripple or finish off the beast Lindow had already gotten started on.

Spoiler

Pyrrha moved onto the left cart, and fired an arrow at gnoll #16. She's also sending her spirit past the group with gnolls 16-19

As Geoff made his comment to her, she couldn't help but feel as though anywhere would be safer than next to a Chosen. It didn't take long for the universe to show her once more that peril followed them at every turn. As the group had approached the farm, abandoned and vacated, the group went to examine it. The girl had felt there was something wrong with the scene, something obvious to likely everyone, and thus kept her wits about her, cautious for anything that may come. It didn't take long, once they had made their way to the wagons, for that something wrong to happen. Looking around, it became clear why this village had become so abandoned. A group of gnolls, a large pack that seemed armed and ready to fight, had ambushed them.

Ryia grimaced at the sight. They were outnumbered by more than 3 to 1, and she couldn't imagine any of these were flat out incompetent at fighting. Add to that the beast the leader-like one rode, and things certainly didn't seem to be in their favor. Yet still, they had been outnumbered by bandits before, and in terrain that was far less agreeable. Here, they had a clear position to defend, and Ryia knew precisely where it was she had to be. Though she wished that she could also help safeguard Geoff, she simply had to believe that he was good in a fight as well, and that Lindow would offer any support he needed to. So, Ryia stood in front of Keres, simply seeing fit to guard the water mage from whatever threats may come her way. Pulling out her crossbow, the girl attempted to help make their initial charge less of an issue, firing it out into the crowd of gnolls. This, unfortunately, didn't work out quite well and the girl had found herself firing the bolt directly into the ground then any of the enemies.

The girl sighed, thinking that she really needed to learn how to aim properly one of these days.

Reinaan had been on guard from the moment they'd first encountered dead bodies. And yet he hadn't noticed the sheer numbers of gnolls that were beginning to surround them as they came to the farm they'd set out for. Curiosities like the abandoned wagons and provisions and a trail of blood. But there the group was, staring down twenty of these strange dogman creatures. The young Draken had never encountered anything like them but the weapons and the way they moved spoke well enough to their desire to fight. The boy readied his halberd he'd bought in town and with his amulet in place about his neck he... still didn't feel ready to handle this many. That was when Lindow approached him with a crossbow and a proposal both of which he accepted as he lowered his new weapon to accept the ranged one.

"Just remember dragons are the very top." he quipped back, teasing his friend to relieve his own nerves for the situation. He wasn't about to be hunted, not a by a long shot. He prepared his first bolt and took aim on the nearest enemy, the same that Ryia had fired on and missed. The boy trained his eye for a moment, remembering from the battle in the desert how these things operated and how the bolts traveled.  He saw his chance and fired, lodging the bolt well into the creature's chest, though not downing it. Had it been a headshot maybe but this was fine. Every injury before they got up close the better. He began immediately readying his second bolt. With only four more on hand without returning the mule he fully intended to use what he had then move to the front line to assure the monsters didn't reach the others.

Spoiler

Reinaan hit gnoll 6 with a bolt (injured but not dead or immobile) and is getting ready to fire on the others of that grouping.

There was a brief moment. As the two gnolls were struck with the ranged weapons. A moment where nothing happened. And then they all, with the two wounded trailing behind, charged. Letting out a chorus of whoops they brandished their shortspears and ran full speed at the group.

Keres scrambled, with some difficulty, onto the right most wagon. Wading through the pile of vegetables she managed to get some semblance of balance as the gnolls reached the rest.

Ryia and Reinaan would be mere feet from the larger of the groups of gnolls. They would have mere moments to react before the beast-men were upon them.

The Water Chosen was more focused on the group of five coming in from the side. They seemed to be moving slower than the others. More carefully. Which made her concerned. Thinking they intended to wait until everyone was dealing with the charge and then coming in from behind. Coming up with a plan on the spot Keres created some water and, instead of launching it at the gnollls, picked up several of the vegetables in the cart and, using the water as a sling, began to throw the vegetables at the group. Slowing them down as they became pummeled by the fresh produce.

Over on the other side Geoff gave a laugh and hopped off of his buffalo. Patting the mount he said "Hold, my friend, you can sit out of this one."

The buffalo then moved towards the wagon Pyrrha was on and began to eat from it without a care in the world.

As the four gnolls closed in he charged right into the group. Not caring as he got semi surrounded. As the gnolls tried to advance he swung his polearm in an arc, forcing them back. Then, with another laugh, rushed forward and slammed the end of his weapon on one of the gnoll's feet. Then, with a circular swing, knocked them off their feet.

As one of the gnolls approached from behind and attempted to stab their spear into his back Geoff thrust his polearm backwards and hit the gnoll with the blunt end in the chest, knocking that gnoll off his feet too.

Meanwhile the leader of the pack stayed in position. Watching the proceedings with one clawed hand in the matted fur of the beast beneath him. If anyone were to pay attention you would see what looked like a smile on his face.

Spoiler

Okay so yeah, 16 is wounded with a bolt and arrow in him, and 6 has a bolt, which is making them move slower and less confidently than the others.

As the gnolls began their charge towards the group, Ryia simply discarded her crossbow behind her. "Ackrin!" As she shouted her spirit's name, it merged with her once more, hardening her skin. Drawing a scimitar and her shield, the girl assessed the situation at hand. Geoff was handling the ones on the side well enough, and with the others it would be no issue. Seeing the other side, though, she recognized that even though she was being charged, twice as many as that were going towards the others....there were also flying vegetables. Blinking at the sight, the girl knew that once she finished off her group, it would be necessary to go and aid them as fast as possible. So, deciding to meet the gnolls head on, the girl charged them.

Naturally, as like a pack of wily beasts and weak creatures would, the gnolls surrounded Ryia, with all of them stabbing at her at once with their short spears. Rushing past the ones that had circled behind her, she avoided those while the ones that had gotten to her right side had their spears bounce off her armor. Putting her shield up, the one she was charging attempted to stab her, but found its spear snap against the metal shield. Thrusting forward with her scimitar, the gnoll moved to the side, evading and drawing out a small hand axe in the process. As the gnoll she had been targeting brought down its axe towards her, the girl raised her shield up to absorb the blow, swinging her sword  behind to parry a thrust from another of the gnolls behind her. Seeing one to her side drop its spear and bring out an axe, the girl pivoted around to the side to face the both of them. Slashing at the one that had still had its spear out, the girl then brought up her shield to parry the other's axe. Digging her blade into gnoll, the girl went for another slash against it, grazing it as the two that had previous been behind her helped finally encircle her.

The girl was unable to guard in time against one of their spear thrusts, wincing in pain as it struck her arm, but simply ignored the other gnolls around her. With her original gnoll target attacking her, the girl continued to press on her new target, causing the swing to miss. Bringing her scimitar down, the gnoll attempted to guard, using its spear to block the attack but shattering it in the process. Drawing out an even shorter spear, the gnoll let out a cry of desperation stabbing at her throat. It was in vain, however. Bringing her shield up, the girl managed to stop the spear in its tracks, and let out a shout of her own as she pressed forward, slashing through the gnoll's throat.

As she did, however, the girl felt two thuds against her armor from behind. Then, a third, piercing sensation going through the left side of her back. Feeling the wind knocked out of her, the girl coughed as  she could feel the pain of the spear having stabbed through her. Yet, she was still standing. It was certainly painful, but she would endure this much. She would power through this. It was, after all, all she could do for the group. And she had to ensure that only she would feel this pain. Grunting, gripping her sword tighter, the girl simply prepared herself to take down the next four of these.

Spoiler

Ryia charged 5, and then missed. She then decided that she wanted to murder 4 and succeeded, with minimal damage, until 1 stabbed her like a rude dude.

As the whoops and cries of the gnolls grew closer, Lindow's expression darkened. Things would get very ugly if the horde managed to break the Chosen's formation with this death charge.

"Pyrrha," He called Elf's name over the noise after seeing both Ryia and Geoff meet the first of their attackers without hesitation. "go help the others, dear. Leave this side to us..." Though he was sure the other three Chosen could hold their own on the battlefield, the sheer numbers they faced were worrisome. It'd be much easier for the Thunder Chosen to cut loose knowing that they had someone providing firing support...

As the words left his lips, Lindow watched Geoff skillful knock two of the gnoll to the ground. The man's moves were rather impressive, and even though he was surrounded, the buffalo ridder clearly had control of the situation. Not wanting to let the opening slip away, Lindow quickly raised his crossbow and fired a bolt towards one of the gnolls to Geoff's right, killing it instantly with a well placed shot to side of the head.

Quickly discarding his crossbow behind the wagon, Lindow sprung towards his next target with his longsword already drawn. Before the downed gnoll could bring itself back up to its feet, Lindow was upon it. Without a word, the witch hunter dropped down and blunged his blade deep into the creature's chest, causing it to thrash around in agony for just a moment, before ending its life with a twist his wrist. With two down, he ripped his blade free from his victim's corpse whilst watching to see what the other three would do in response.

Spoiler

Lindow killed 19 with a headshot. He then dealt the finishing blow to 17, and is now watching for the enemy's next move.

The gnolls were still approaching. That was about what Pyrrha would have expected, honestly. This fight would be too easy if a single arrow deterred each one from attacking. What she wasn't expecting was for Geoff to not only step into the fray, but to do so rather skillfully! Perhaps having this guy around wouldn't be all bad after all!

"Pyrrha! Go help the others, dear. Leave this side to us..."

"Roger!" As Pyrrha got her next arrow ready, she hopped down from the cart she'd been on, hurrying along to the other side of the group's little area. It was true that this other side had more enemies on it than the other. Maybe being over here was for the best.

And where does that leave me?

Stay over there, Eltain. I may need a means of escape if this goes south. Once Pyrrha was on the other side of the battlefield, taking care to keep the stronger and tougher Reinaan between herself and the gnolls, Pyrrha resumed her shooting, aiming her next arrow at the group that left Keres in the most immediate danger. Even if she couldn't kill them in one shot, slowing them down had to have some value, even now.

Spoiler

Pyrrha moved a bit behind Reinaan then shot gnoll #13

With his second bolt ready, Reinaan fired quickly on the gnolls as they began their charge. With his first target staggering he turned to the other three most immediately approaching him and fired on the right most. The bolt sailed through the air and into the gnoll's face, halting its advance on the spot as it howled in pain and bled profusely. That still left two more coming up quick to which the Draken dropped his crossbow behind him and readied his new halberd which had been leaning against him as he'd fired for quick access. The center gnoll was closest and Reinaan felt no need to give his enemy a chance to attack. He swung the length of his weapon, the axe portion on a collision course for the gnoll's neck. The creature raised his spear to defend but the strength of the would-be-Dragon crushed through it and lodged the blade cleaning in between the shoulder and neck. The left most gnoll had kept moving as this initial engagement played out and readied his spear to stab at the boy's side.

The Fire Chosen however was ready to keep brute forcing solutions and so use the leverage of his halberd still in the first gnoll's neck to push the beast into his comrade. The two collided, the uninjured one pushing the other off which fell to the ground from the injury after Reinaan had retracted the weapon. The still standing gnoll went in for a straight on stab but Reinaan too possessed a spear at the end of his weapon and outranged this hyena's attack, the tip plunging into the center of the creature's chest. The now also seriously injured gnoll attempted to ready his spear to throw it at the boy with the length of the halberd as the only distance to gather. Despite the injury it stood somewhat firm but the Draken managed to drag it to the ground after twisting the weapon to aggravate the injury. The gnoll attempted to grab it out of instinct but Reinaan kept pushing it in deeper as he approached and stepped on it with one foot. A bit more twisted and pushing and the creature gave up the fight and succumbed to the wound. Reinaan pulled his weapon out and scanned the area. There were so many enemies it would be hard to focus. The boy's nude form was already splashed several times over with blood from the first two gnolls. Maybe he'd actually be a proper red Draken after this.

The gnoll injured by the second bolt would become the next immediate priority. The bolt had apparently hit one of its eyes as it was bleeding greatly from one socket and the eye looked horrible. It brandished its axe as Reinaan readied himself to engage again.

"Ziiyol," he said, his spirit appearing behind him in a puff of flames though keeping herself visible to only the Chosen. "Go to Keres until I call you back over." he gave his simple order which he hoped would be obeyed quickly.

"Of course Reiny." she said with a smile as she drifted off to the Water Chosen's side. Oh how she hoped to find out how well gnolls burned.

Spoiler

-Reinaan's still mostly in place
-9 got hit in the eye with a bolt and is bleeding a lot, is currently on the way to fight Reinaan with the axe
-8 is dead
-7 is on the ground, bleeding profusely from the axe that got lodged his neck for a bit there

Keres was running out of vegetables. She still had a good supply but it wouldn't last forever. Still what else could she do but continue to pelt the oncoming gnolls. If she let them past they would overwhelm the others in numbers.

One of the carrots she slung hit a gnoll in the back of the group directly in the head at such force they stumbled back a bit. Her success was short lived as a few of the gnolls seemed to muscle through the onslaught.

Even worse, while one went off to the side, and another started advancing, one brave soul took several vegetables to his body and pushed onward towards the wagon. He gripped the edge of it and pulled himself up despite the rain of vegetables.

Keres started backing away, releasing the hold she had on the vegetables. She couldn't continue to fling them as she had before with this gnoll approaching, snarling angrily, grip tightening on his shortspear.

---

Reinaan, being approached by two bleeding gnolls, would notice another making its way towards him from the side. Before he had time to react to them the gnoll he had shot in the eye came for him. Snarling wildly and swinging his axe down towards the draken. At the same time the one on the ground forwent its weapons and simply tried to lunge with its teeth and claws at the young hunter.

---

The gnolls near Lindow weren't able to get to him without passing by Geoff. And as one of them, towards Lindow's left, tried the Chosen of Buffalo whipped out his weapon and sliced through the beast-man's shoulder. Forcing him back and refocusing him on Geoff. The other went to take advantage of this to stab Geoff but the man had other plans.

With a practiced motion Geoff sliced through the shortspear and followed up by shoving the other end of the weapon into the gnoll's throat. The gnoll coughed and gagged, backing up several steps, clutching at its throat as it struggled to catch his breath.

"It seems our foes are no match for me!" Geoff called out. "I hope you are watching closely. Not everyday you get to see a Chosen fight!"

---

The gnolls surrounding Ryia let out laugh-like whoops as the one behind her penetrated through her defenses. Surrounding her on most sides they felt confident despite the loss of their ally. The one who had stabbed her took his axe out and went for an overhead chop, trying to bury it into the back of her head.

As he did the other two gnolls closer to the front of her also came at her with their own axes. The fourth, still wielding a spear, decided to wait and watch. Not able to get in on the action with the way the others were attacking. But he kept his eyes locked on them and stood half-crouching, ready to dive in at the first chance he got.

Spoiler

A lot happened and a lot is going on so it's a bit more complicated to describe but if you don't understand a situation lemme know.

With the gnolls around her going for yet another follow up attack on her, the girl brought her shield up to deflect the axe blade coming for her neck. As she did, the girl pivoted around the gnoll, with the other two that had struck at her having either missed their swing or bounced off her armor. With blade in hand, the girl swung her scimitar at the gnoll in front of her, though the gnoll had managed to use his axe deflect her clumsy swing away with the rest of his companions beginning to circle around. Continuing to press forward, Ryia again swung her blade, though the pain in her side caused her awkward slash to veer away from the gnoll and slashing nothing but more air. Thankfully, as the gnolls continued to strike at her, their axes as well either swung at nothing or simply bounced off of her.

With the gnoll in front of her swinging one more time, the girl was growing frustrated and simply brought up her shield to block against the attack. Pressing forward, she awkwardly swung at the beast's side again, though only managed to a light cut against them. Stepping backward, now swarmed once again, the girl furrowed her brow and got ready for the gnolls around her to attack again. There was one in front of her, one to her left, and two to her right. Getting ready for yet another attack from the gnolls, the one to her left began to giddily snarl and laugh at the same time before running forward to strike at her with its axe. Seeing this, Ryia merely did a small step back, though the gnoll was very excited to carve into Ryia. So excited that it kept moving forward at the same speed, charging right through where she was and smashing into the gnoll to her right. This, in turn, caused the gnoll to domino down into the third one, causing all three to fall flat on the ground.

Both Ryia and the only gnoll still standing were left dumbfounded at this supreme display of dexterity. Yet, all the same, the girl recollected herself and went for a slashing, killing the gnoll on top of the pile as she cleaved into its back. This, unfortunately, left her arm open and she winced in pain yet again as her arm buckled down from the axe that had now struck into her. Fighting through it still, Ryia slashed back at the gnoll, carving deeper into it as the other two gnoll began to get back up from their prone position. As the gnoll in front of her went for one last slash, Ryia simply batted the axe away with her shield before going for one last slash into the chest of the gnoll, slaying it.

With only two gnolls left, Ryia began to turn around, only to feel two sudden blades strike into her back. "Gah," letting out a pained grunt, the girl stumbled forward. Her breath getting a bit more ragged from the injuries she had sustained, the girl simply turned around to face the gnolls. With half of the ones she had been facing already felled, and no amount of wounds would stop her from felling these last two and rushing to her other chosen's aid.

Spoiler

Ryia killed Gnoll 2 and 1 and got hit three more times. Youch.

Pyrrha took only a moment to glance at the other fronts of the fight. It wasn't exactly a cakewalk battle, but it was certainly a fight they were winning. Thanks in a surprising amount to Geoff. More importantly, Eltain was effectively off in the middle of nowhere. Pyrrha had a plan for getting her own side of the fight taken care of.

Change of plans, Eltain. Get behind the gnolls that are over here.

You're really giving me a workout here. If you're thinking of doing something stupid, don't.

With Eltain on the way for the next part of Pyrrha's plan, Pyrrha drew her attention back to the part she still had to take care of. Giving Keres and Reinaan some breathing room in their own fight. And out of the three... Reinaan was in the most immediate danger. Though, out the corner of her eye, it was clear that Ryia could also do with some assistance. Eltain, how close are you to Ryia right now?

Close enough.

Stay near her, for just a moment! Pyrrha knocked another arrow, firing it off at one of the gnolls near Reinaan. The one that wasn't already on the ground, partially for an easier shot, and partly to avoid hitting Reinaan. But alas, either that gnoll had a really tough arm, or Pyrrha's arrow just didn't do much. Time to switch up her tactics then. Rather than knocking another arrow, Pyrrha put her bow up over her back, and reached instead for her right hip. Pyrrha pulled forth the scimitar she'd been gifted with earlier, making a beeline for the gnoll before slashing down at it. To not much effect, but certainly enough to get the gnoll to stop and look at her instead of Reinaan.

"See ya!"

Now! Swap! In a flash of green, Pyrrha seemed to have disappeared from Reinaan's side entirely. That wasn't quite the case. She'd merely been replaced with her spirit, and Pyrrha turned up where Eltain had been until the swap, and it was a pretty clean switch at that. Pyrrha hardly felt any dizziness or anything at all! Namely, behind one of the gnolls assailing Ryia, sword in hand, as she swung again, aiming at the gnoll's ribs. That didn't seem to have much effect either. It must have been this weapon. Swords were never Pyrrha's style anyway. And so, keeping one hand on her sword, Pyrrha reached with her right hand for her other hip, where her axe was holstered, and quickly pulled the weapon out, swinging it down on the gnoll's head. The attack landed, but didn't seem to kill.

Even worse, the gnoll was still able to retaliate. And he did. Pyrrha gritted her teeth at the surge of pain of a weapon striking her, but tried to keep a smile on as she lifted her face back up to greet Ryia. "Hi there, I'm here to back you up," the elf said through clenched teeth.

Spoiler

Pyrrha shot an arrow at #9 then hit him with a scimitar. She then swapped to a location behind #5 where she combo attacked him with the scimitar and her trusty axe before getting hit herself.

Reinaan raised his weapon, ready for the one-eyed gnoll's attack, only to be caught slightly off guard himself by Pyrrha's arrow that hit the gnoll. It distracted its attack on the boy but ultimately did little damage to him while the wind chosen suddenly disappeared from sight. Reinaan would later catch a glimpse of her closer to Ryia but he didn't have the time to spend mental energy understanding her powers. The previously injured gnoll, still bleeding quite a bit from the neck, was scrambling on the ground toward him. There would be little time to read to the metal end of his weapon so instead the Draken slammed the end of the staff into the creature's back, pinning into the ground. With a quick spin around he then plunged the tip of the spear into the creature's back. It would cease moving soon after and prove to be only a threat to anyone directly on top of it while it bled out slowly on the ground.

The one-eyed gnoll meanwhile was ready to attack and swung his axe at the fire chosen. However, the attack fell short, perhaps the one eye affecting his depth perception. Reinaan pulled his halberd out of the grounded creature's corpse and swing it horizontally to dig the axe into his assailant's side. The strike was slow enough the creature had time to move but not entirely out of the way. The shaft still hit its side, an audible snap indicating Reinaan's strength and the durability of feywood had managed to break a bone. The gnoll was stunned from the pain, giving Reinaan enough time to retract his weapon and plunge the spear point into the thing's neck as another shower of blood rained down on his face as a result. Still he wanted to look this thing in the eye as it died and send it off to the afterlife with a fear of Draken carved deeply into its soul.

"This thing's working wonders" a thought drifted through Reinaan's mind in relation to his new weapon. The length and versatility of it were proving very helpful with so many attackers. In the midst of the adrenaline of battle his body paused a moment to simply breathe and stop thinking. Two more gnolls were on his way and his attention would soon snap back as they readied their weapons.

Ziiyol meanwhile had made her way closer to Keres with the thought of burning gnolls still dominating her mind. In fact, it seemed much more appealing than being close to a water spirit and she imagined trying to burn the one inside the wagon with the girl would be very helpful. Fire had a tendency to burn everything, friend or foe. And so she made her way to the front of the cart where another gnoll stood close by with two others still approaching, having been slowed by the onslaught of vegetables earlier.

"Now then, dance among the flames for me!" the spirit spoke joyfully as she readied her fans and began twirling about in the air. Bits of fire would form on the ends of the fans and fly about in all directions before her. To the gnolls they would simply see fire forming from the air itself and falling around them as Ziiyol had not made herself visible to them. Hopefully at least one of them would catch fire. It was all the spirit could hope for.

Spoiler

-Reinaan incapacitated 7 who wont be able to hurt peeps unless they get right on top of him while he bleeds out
-Reinaan killed 9
-6 and 13 are approaching him

"I would be far more impressed if had chosen to actually finish one off..." Lindow responded to Geoff's gloating with a shrug before reaching down and plucking the short spear from the hands of the corpse at his feet. "you move pretty well though."

Taking only a moment to line up his shot, Lindow tossed the borrowed weapon towards the gnoll with the injured shoulder. Watching the spear lodge itself into the creature's leg, the Thunder Chosen closed in on his target with a sudden burst of speed. He met the gnoll with a thrust from his longsword, observing it's sloppy attempt to block with the axe carried, as he powered through and drove the blade deep into the monster's chest. Though that didn't seem to be enough to outright kill it. Struggling to use the last of it's strength, the gnoll whimpered and took a final swing of it's axe. Lindow responded in kind, quickly drawing his short sword and parrying the attack, before stepping in and driving both blades even deeper into the Gnoll's body for a brutal finishing blow.

With another enemy defeated, Lindow took a moment to inhale deeply. He could hear the others fighting the rest of the pack, but didn't bother to look back to check on them. He needed to trust that they could hold their own until he and Geoff cleared this side of the battlefield. If this was too much, then they were doomed from the start after all...

He exhaled. Pushing back the tiny inklings of concern, Lindow kicked the dead gnoll free from the embrace of his swords. Landing on his front foot, the Thunder Chosen took off towards the gnoll that had been lingering in the back of the group. Twirling his short sword to a reverse grip in his left hand, he attempted to slice at the creature's throat with the longsword in his right hand.

Spoiler

Lindow threw a spear at 18, then proceeded to kill it. Is now going to slash 16 with his longsword.

Keres struggled to control her breathing. She backed away, hindered by the fruit still lining the floor of the wagon, as the gnoll approached her with its shortspear raised. It looked so fierce. The creatures of the swamp were dangerous but she knew how to avoid them. This she couldn't avoid. Worse she saw the others getting closer as she hesitated.

She had to fight back. With a frantic motion she splashed the gnoll with water. At first seemingly nothing came from it but then the magic activated. The gnoll, who had been grinning and licking its teeth as it came towards her, suddenly paused. It looked behind Keres and stumbled backwards in a panic. Keres took advantage of the situation and grabbed the brigand with a rope of water and tossed him over the side of the wagon.

Unfortunately directly behind him was a second gnoll who came charging in at her.

---

Both of the gnolls near Reinaan seemed a bit more wary than the others had been. The draken proving more skilled than they could handle. But they had numbers so they didn't back down. They came at him from the left and right. Both still in front but towards the sides rather than head on. Holding their shortspears waist high they came in. Attempting to pierce Reinaan through his ribs.

While one of the gnolls by Ziyol had managed to slip out from under the flames the other two scrambled back to keep from being caught in the sudden blaze. They couldn't tell where the fire was coming from but they knew they had to avoid it lest their fur get caught ablaze. One of them tried to throw their shortspear through the fire as though hoping to somehow hit its source.

---

The two gnolls now faced off against one Chosen each. Though the one that had struck Pyrrha seemed more confident given the elf's less armored body. They pulled their axe out and went for another savage swing, moving forward as it did, bowling into the girl even if the axe swing didn't meet its mark.

The one facing Ryia snarled at the girl as he tried to find an opening. Unlike the other gnoll he was more cautious. Not attacking directly. Instead keeping an eye on the girl he had ended up targeting as prey. He barked something at her in a language she couldn't understand but the mocking and vicious intent was clear in the tone of his voice.

---

"You're not so bad yourself, I admit." Geoff said. "If you were a chosen I'm sure you'd be rather impressive!" His opponent had dropped their shortspear and grabbed their axe. Going in to swing at his shoulder with a rough chopping attack.

The "chosen" deflected the blade to the side and followed it by bringing the end of his weapon into the gnoll's side. Crashing against a rib and causing the gnoll to cough in pain. Geoff backed away and thrust the end into the gnoll's chest. He knocked the beast-man backwards and spun the weapon around, slicing through the gnoll's throat and causing them to drop down.

Despite having been struck by projectiles the gnoll that Lindow went to attack was more alert and aware of them as he closed in. Bending back to avoid the sword from slicing through his neck he ducked down and attempted to ram their shortspear through Lindow's gut.

---

The gnoll leader watched the proceedings with a wolfish grin. The beast under him stirred and he grabbed onto its fur and tugged sharply. The beast turned its head towards the gnoll and barked something, in the language of the gnolls, to which the leader replied with a more commanding tone.

Growling the wolf-like creature turned back to the fight and the leader continued to watch.

When Pyrrha made her move the gnoll let out a sound that was a mix of a laugh and a snarl and pressed his feet into the mount's sides. Which then proceeded to take off across the field. Moving swiftly and elegantly, but with powerful strides, towards Pyrrha.

The leader grabbed the bow from his back and launched an arrow at Pyrrha. The arrow struck true, sinking between Pyrrha's shoulder blades. With a howling cheer the leader put away his bow and took out both axe and shortspear. As the mount got near Pyrrha it suddenly veered to the side and the leader jumped off its back and brought the axe, held in his right hand, down towards the small elf girl.

Spoiler

Map

The leader has made its approach. Ryia would recognize the mount (21) now that it's closer as a Warg, which she would have seen once or twice in the company of goblins. Wolf-like monsters with near human intelligence.

Though there were wounds in her body, the girl stood firm and steadfast, knowing that the heavy load of her work had almost been complete. With only two of the five gnolls remaining, the girl was feeling more confident in her odds of success and prepared herself to meet them head on yet again. However, her eyes went wide with shock as someone had appeared right behind one of the gnolls she had been fighting. Seeing the chosen of wind bring her scimitar down on the creature, That she hadn't killed the enemy, though, was the least of her issues. Why was she here suddenly?

Ryia figured that it must've been some kind of magic, but that didn't matter much. She couldn't help but wonder why she had decided to help her. Though the sentiment might've been appreciated, Ryia couldn't quite condone it. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that Lindow and Reinaan were still fighting gnolls of their own, which meant they, Geoff and Keres weren't safe yet. As a result, the wind chosen appearing before her now meant that she wasn't helping them. And that she had opted for a more dangerous approach here, meant that she was only endangering herself to aid Ryia as well. As a sudden surge of guilt began to build up within the girl, this only seemed to grow more as the gnoll leader began to make his charge atop his dreaded beast.

With Pyrrha getting struck by an arrow from the man, the girl's eyes went wide with panic as he made his way to double team her alongside the gnoll she had attacked. Shouting, "Pyrrha, get away!" The girl paid little attention to her own safety, stomping her foot on the ground and forcing a wall of earth to shoot out of the ground and block the gnoll leader's attack against the girl. As a result, Ryia felt yet another sharp pain course through her as her panicked eyes darted towards the culprit. She didn't seem to register the pain that much, as instead adrenaline seemed to be pumping through her much faster than before. She had to make sure the others were safe, and had to keep Pyrrha safe from the three enemies now around her. And this gnoll was only getting in the way of that.

As he swung back again with his axe, the girl stopped it with her shield. Tired of being blocked, the gnoll then reached out with his other arm, grabbing onto the girl's shield and yanking it. Though he pulled her closer, the girl's grip on her shield remained firm and she herself began to go on the offensive. With scimitar in hand, the girl went to slash at the gnoll, only for his axe arm to get in the way and take the blade instead. As the beast howled in bed, the girl took this as an opportunity to press forward, shoving her whole body into the chest of the gnoll and knocking him off of his feet. Laying prone there, the girl slashed at him once, causing a large gash to appear across his chest. However, still alive, the gnoll tightened his grip on his hand axe. Bringing her own blade up overhead, Ryia plunged the sword downward as the gnoll began to slash at her once again. Unfortunately for the creature, the girl was faster and proved too much as her blade sunk into his arm and pushed it further down into his chest.

With one final gasp, the gnoll breathed its last, allowing the girl to stand back upright again. Before her were two gnolls and a warg. The gnolls were a problem themselves, but she had known that the wolf-like beast before her was a dangerous predator in its own right. Glaring at the beast, who itself seemed to be observing the action, the girl prepared herself for whatever it was plotting. Though her breath was ragged and posture unsteady, and she was unsure herself how many more injuries she could sustain, she was not about to let herself falter at this moment.

Spoiler

Ryia uses earth wall and saves Pyrrha from her own demise. She takes damage for Yui's sins however, as she then gets into a duel with Gnoll 3 and kills it.

Lindow wasn't the least bit surprised when the gnoll dodged his first attack, given how long it had to brace itself. Seeing the creature duck down and go to stab him with it's spear, the Thunder Chosen let the momentum of his swing carry his body to the left for a dodge whilst swiping his short sword upwards to try and slice through the frail looking shaft. The gnoll quickly pulled it's weapon back, just in time to avoid having it destroyed. Though while his opponent focused on saving it's spear, Lindow was already pivoting unto his back foot in preparation for a follow up attack. Thrusting his longsword under the gnolls left breast, Lindow sneered as the creature tried retaliate with another poke from it's spear, despite the near fatal wound it had just received.

A spray of blood painted the air as Lindow yanked his longsword free. Using his shield arm to deflect the spear, he quickly slashed at the beast's side, leaving another gash and causing the spear to fly out of the gnoll's hands. Seeing dying gnoll make a desperate reach for it's axe, Lindow sprang into action once more, quickly slicing it's hand with his longsword before finishing the beast off with his short sword. The gnoll let out a whimper before falling back, dead before it hit the ground.

With all the enemies on his front cleared out, Lindow shook the vile blood from his blades as he turned his eye to other side of the battlefield. "Tsk," Things weren't looking good for the other Chosen, but at least none them had gotten themselves killed just yet. "Hey, we're not done..." He called over Geoff. "help the little one will ya?" As he spoke, the Thunder Chosen's shadow grew darker, bubbling and expanding as it began to hungrily swallow it's owner's boots, then his entire body soon after. Moving through the realm of shadows, Lindow made his way towards the wall of earth that Ryia had erected moments prior.

Spoiler

Lindow finished off 16, and is heading towards team Earth and Wind via Shadow Travel.

Reinaan had two of the gnoll fighters coming at his front from two different angles. Spears were readied and forward, looking to skewer the boy's chest from both sides. In an attempt to not get caught in the middle of this the Draken took a large step to the right and wound the halberd behind his back. With a full swing he aimed to take the right of the two gnoll's head clean off but the beastman was fast enough that the blade of the axe missed, instead having Reinaan slam the shaft of his weapon into its neck. This blow was still fierce enough to knock the gnoll off to the side. With it's throat injured it struggled to breathe let alone stand for a moment. However the other gnoll was still on target and managed to just barely pierce the Fire Chosen's side with the tip of its spear. It seemed the amulet the boy had bought was proving helpful after all, or else the creature just wasn't very strong. But still, it wasn't a pleasant feeling as the draken's body twitched at the wound.

"You wanna play, huh?" the reptile more snarled than spoke to the gnoll as he relinquished one his hand's grips on his halbered and grasped his assailant by the neck. Reinaan began squeezing with all his strength as the gnoll in kind attempted to deepen the wound of his spear. However the draken won and soon the boy's claws pierced the flesh and began digging into the insides of the thing's throat. As it struggled in pain the Fire Chosen inhaled deeply and blasted a stream of fire right in the thing's face for a few seconds, thoroughly charring its face and, combined with the neck injuries, took its life. The gnoll that had received the blow to the neck meanwhile was rushing in again but it was clearly in no condition to continue the battle. Its strike was poorly placed and its spear merely glanced off of Reinaan's scales. The boy released the enemy he'd just killed to turn his focus here while also ripping the spear from out of his side. At the same time his other hand was choking up on his halberd. With a swift strike downward the axe struck into the gnolls shoulder and lobbed the arm clean off. With the injuries it had sustained, the creature made no resistance as Reinaan plunged the spear end of his halberd into his chest, piercing the heart or close enough to it. The gnoll fell to the earth dead.

With blood near covering him, Reinaan took another moment to just breathe from the exertions of fighting off these waves of gnolls. Things were still going on around him but it was already clear what he needed to do next. Keres only had him nearby enough to help and there were still four gnolls close to her. The moments of collecting himself seemed to drag out for ages in his mind under the adrenaline of the situation but he soon readied his halberd in both hands and turned himself about to run off to the Water Chosen's aid.

"That's right! Dance with me!" Ziiyol meanwhile called out as the hesitant gnolls attempted to avoid her flames and discern their source. Creatures and their fear of fire ever fascinated her and so a brilliant new idea came into her mind. With another burst of flame she made herself visible to even the gnolls, wondering how they might react to more fire and her appearance in general. Still her dance continued as flames flew off of her fans out in front of her.

The leader was coming. Uh-oh. This positioning maybe wasn't so good for her. In fact, it certainly wasn't. Evidenced by an arrow finding its way into Pyrrha's back, followed by the leader hopping off its mount with two weapons of his own and looking ready to make mincemeat of Pyrrha with that axe of his. An attack that Pyrrha wasn't afraid to discard her own axe to avoid the brunt of. Luckily though, she didn't have to, as the next thing she knew, a wall of earth separated Pyrrha and the gnoll leader. That was a breath of fresh air to be certain. At least in this instant, Pyrrha could focus fully on the other gnoll; the one she'd initially attacked. And so, once again, Pyrrha swung her scimitar at the gnoll, keeping her axe hand ready for defensive techniques.

Spoiler

Pyrrha swung her scimitar at gnoll 5.

Geoff was surprised to see Lindow disappear as he had. Letting out a laugh he proclaimed. "It seems our friends have a few tricks up their sleeves! Well, we can't be left behind now can we." He nodded to himself and began running towards the center of the fight. Where Ryia and Pyrrha were beset by several large enemies.

The first of which, the gnoll Pyrhha was attacking, wasn't just taking the swing laying down. The girl seemed to be slower to act, her wounds starting to affect her, and her swing ended up not hitting her target. She felt a haze as the wounds and blood loss started to get to her but she would notice the gnoll raising his axe up and ready to bring down on her head.

The leader, dazed from hitting the wall, slowly moved around the side of the formation. Once he saw his minion attacking her rushed in. Bringing his axe back while thrusting his shortspear forward towards the girl's side.

Which was also when the worg, with a disturbingly human smirk, decided to act as well. Loping forward he ran towards Pyrrha as well to try and bite into her left arm and tear it off.

While this triple threat was going on Keres, not able to focus on the problems of her allies, was now facing down two gnolls. A second had climbed up the side of the wagon with the other and was approaching. Letting out a grunt Keres launched a water blast at the original and knocked him off his feet. Seeing this the other gnoll readied his axe and started towards the Water Chosen.

She felt her leg touch the back of the wagon and knew if she went any farther she'd tumble off the edge. She didn't know if she could handle both of these in such a small space but if she tried to escape in her haste it was possible she'd fall and injure herself anyway.

Which was when she noticed Geoff's buffalo. It had wandered over towards her and moved to the side, presenting its broad back to Keres at the edge of the wagon.

Understanding dawning, and an idea forming, Keres flung more illusion charged water at the gnolls and bailed. Falling onto the buffalo's back before clambering off the other side.

The buffalo stood still for a moment then began wandering off, to eat some of the fallen vegetables.

As Keres landed she looked towards Reinaan. "Wagon." She called out.

On the other end of the wagon the two gnolls seemed startled at the female form appearing amidst the flames. One of them, some of the flames catching his arm, yelp at the other and barked something sounding like alarm. To which the other barked back in an almost mocking tone. The other one took off running away from the group. While the remaining one shook his head and, deciding to risk it, charged through the fire and went to grab onto the edge of the wagon to pull himself up.

Things seemed to have gone from bad to worse in her operation to try and save the Wind Chosen. Though the girl had managed to stave off one attack and had defeated one more of the gnolls, the girl didn't seem to be able to escape in time. With two gnolls and the warg converging on her position, Ryia had no idea what to do to save the girl. In the most dire of situations, she figured she could simply throw herself in front of her ally and find some way to take the blow for them. But not only was she too far away, even if she were able to she hardly doubted she would be able to take all of the attacks at once.

Her mind continued to race to find a way to bring Pyrrha out of this hole, but couldn't think of anything she herself could do on her own. She could only hope that the elf girl had a way to get out of this herself. She had a method to get in, so that same method could probably used both ways right? Though, she didn't quite understand it to begin with, and she figured if the elf could then she probably would have already. Yet, believing in the girl to escape was all she could do to keep herself sane and narrow down her options as to what her job was. And, if she was relying on the wind chosen to find her own way out, then all she could hope to do was buy space for them to do so.

Looking in front of her, there was only one option she had to take. Which was convenient for her anyway, as it seemed to be the one going for the most lethal blow. Steadying her sword arm, the girl took a deep breath as she rushed forward towards the gnoll with its back towards her. Letting out a fierce shout as she did, thrust forward, her scimitar piercing through the gnoll's back. As she did, the beast's attack was paused, the creature itself lurching forward as the wind was knocked out of it, and blood seemed to be coming out with each cough that followed. Though its arms fell to its side after the attack, the gnoll didn't let go of its axe. Instead, making a noise that was some mix between a growl and a gurgle, the creature twisted to its right, attempting to strike at the earth chosen.

However, with all of the initiative in this situation, Ryia simply removed her sword from its back and stepped in the same duration the gnoll was moving. As the axe bounced off her shield, the girl went for one more slash, cutting through the chest of the gnoll and causing it to let out one last cough of blood before falling to the ground. With one threat down, she could only hope it was enough.

Spoiler

Ryia attacked gnoll 5 and stopped it from murdering Pyrrha. She then killed gnoll 5.

Axe. Spear. Wolf. Surrounded on all sides. Pyrrha had been reckless. Eltain. I need you over here now.

No rest for the naive, is it?

That's the wicked you're thinking of. But I'm not wicked. Indeed, Pyrrha was a just girl. And a bit of rest after she slipped out of this hairy situation was probably warranted. She wasn't in any condition to fight up close, at least. Pyrrha could see her spirit heading her way. For this last moment, Pyrrha had to hold out. But with three opponents and only two arms, how was she supposed to do that?

Luckily, she didn't have to worry about that. Ryia had the gnoll with the axe taken care of. That just left two. The spear coming at her side, and the wolf aiming for her arm. Each on opposite sides, and with Ryia blocking a third angle, even if she'd been a huge help. Only one direction left, and that was taken up by the wall Ryia had put up. Some sort of diagonal move then. And so it was that Pyrrha dove toward a spot between Ryia and the gnoll leader. It worked wonders for avoiding the jaws of the beast, but in exchange, she could distinctly feel a spear pierce through her arm and into her side on the way down. She wasn't sure where she'd been hit, and she was losing too much blood to stop and find out.

But she could see Eltain. Her spirit had made it, though she would have appreciated if he was just a liiiiiiittle bit faster. The spirit seemingly tackled Pyrrha directly, entering her body, and then the world seemed to move in slow motion. This is our second time doing this, right?

Second. Now hurry up. I can't keep us combined very long.

On it. She only had a little bit of time, but that was plenty to make an escape if it was like this. The Wind Chosen got up to her feet, going around and behind Ryia, darting past Geoff on her way away from the gnolls, then stopping behind a cart. This was as far as she could go combined with Eltain in her state. As if forced, the spirit of wind shot out of Pyrrha's body, eyeing over the rest of the fight from his Chosen's new spot out of combat.

Spoiler

No attacks or anything fancy like that. Just an elf getting the fuck out of dodge while she has the chance.

With Keres' singular word instruction of wagon, Reinaan trained his sight on the two gnolls that had been going after her. He began running and with the strength of his longer and larger legs found himself able to leap up over the side of the thing to join the two gnolls. In the same motion he rammed the spear end of his halberd into the right of the two's chest, though from the movement it wasn't an amazingly clean hit. Still, neither gnoll seemed to realize he was there despite the attack. It took a second but it clicked for the boy that Keres had cast her illusion magic on them which was perfect. There wasn't a lot of room to work with given the vegetables and three of them standing in the space. While pulling his weapon out of the gnoll he back handed its face with his left hand, knocking it over in the process. The enemy was then in the perfect spot as the boy stabbed down with his halberd, piercing the thing's neck and ending its life. However, the other creature seemed to have snapped out of the illusions and took note of Reinaan killing his comrade. The gnoll that hadn't run away from Ziiyol's appearance had finally braved the flames and climbed up to the back of the wagon as well.

"Hm?" the spirit pondered audibly while looking at her dance floor. Slowly her twirling came to a stop as she began to pout. "Fine, don't burn then." Ziiyol complained as she started drifting to the side of the wagon to watch her partner in action. "Go Reiny!" she called to ears that were far from paying attention to her at the moment.

Reinaan had prepared his halberd again to stab at the gnoll who had broken free of Keres' magic. Despite the close quarters the creature still managed to dodge and swing his axe down on the weapon to knock it out of the boy's hands. Instead of fight it the Draken let the weapon fall to the wagon floor and tackled the gnoll, his claws lashing at the thing's face. The maneuver knocked the gnoll over but it was still in a position to put up a fight as it bit into Reinaan's shoulder. Hissing in response the boy began anew a proven effective method of killing the beasts. Both hands found themselves wrapped around it's neck as they struggled on the floor. Shortly the reptile's appendages were digging through the outer layers of flesh and piercing to the inner throat. The gnoll's strength faded quickly as its blood began pouring out through the several wounds. It relinquished the clamp of its bite as its life bled out.

Even in this position Reinaan could tell the third and last gnoll in the wagon was approaching. With the gnoll he was tumbling with dying he pulled his claws out of its neck and rolled off the body to reach for his fallen halberd. This he managed to grab in time to ready the spear for the approaching gnoll. This hyena man was hunched forward readying its axe but was met with a spear plunged into its face. Despite this, the gnoll managed to throw its axe with incredible skill, landing a decent slash into the Fire Chosen's chest. Reinaan winced in the pain but would later imagine it probably should have lodged itself into his rib cage without the amulet. Despite the pain of a few injuries and the fatigue of struggling with so many gnolls back to back he managed to bring himself to his feet and began pushing the halberd deeper into the gnolls face. It wouldn't be able to fight the Draken's strength long and it passed quickly. Reinaan stood for a moment, leaning on his halberd to keep from hunching over. His breath was ragged. He couldn't bring himself to scan the battlefield immediately. But then it crossed his mind: Keres. All of these gnolls had been going for her and he hadn't as yet confirmed if she was okay past her yelling wagon to him before. Reinaan turned himself about and walked toward the opposite end of the wagon. As his foot reached the edge he tripped over himself and face planted out onto the ground below with a thud.

"Uggghhhh" he groaned as he pushed himself up and back up onto his feet slowly. Dirt now covered the parts of his body that had been splattered with either his own or gnoll blood. And he'd been so shiny too. Well, at least parts of his tail had kept the polish job pretty well in place. And he did have more of the stuff to pretty himself up again in the future. Shaking himself a bit to see if he couldn't dislodge some of the dirt, Reinaan looked and locked his sight on Keres who seemed very much uninjured to him. But then maybe he wasn't seeing straight.

"Hey..." he addressed the Water Chosen, still gasping for breath a bit. A moment passed and the breaths eased up some allowing him to continue. "You... okay?" he asked while somehow managing a smile.

Spoiler

-Reinaan stabbed 12 in the neck, killing it

Without much hesitation, the leader of the gnolls took off towards the wagons to finish off the wounded Wind Chosen. It left Ryia to the warg, who rushed towards the Earth Chosen as of planning to to cover it's rider's escape. Though in it's haste, the beast failed to notice that Ryia's shadow had begun to quiver and twisted in a rather unnatural manner.

Just as the warg got close to enough strike, a blade of crackling energy shot out from the darkness to intercept the beast. The effects were instant. With the sudden current of electricity causing the warg's body to seize up and spasm as Lindow emerged from Ryia's shadow with the Third Blade still angrily chirping in his extended hand. "Good grief..." The witch hunter addressed the Earth Chosen with a glance. "It would be shame to lose the Wind Chosen twice." He said whilst pointing back over his shoulder with his thumb. If he knew Ryia like the thought he did, Lindow was sure she would go running to the other girl's aid now that she had an opening...

As Lindow spoke he watched the warg regain it some of it's composure. With a growl the beast turned him and lunged, breaking off the end of the extended Third Blade was lodged in it's body. Grinning at the warg's strength Lindow hopped backwards, retracting what remained of his spear of lightning to form it into a cutting edge around his left hand. Simultaneously, he reached grabbed the handle of the Bandit Cleaver to release a quick downwards stroke towards his attacker, who was forced leap backwards to avoid being cleaved. It certainly was much more skilled the the gnoll he had slaughtered earlier.

"Magic. Disgusting." The warg snarled in the common tongue as Lindow surged forward.

"Oh wow it talks!" The man didn't care to hide his amusement. He had heard of creatures such as this but this was the first time he had ever laid eyes on one. "what other tricks do you know?!" Swinging the Third Blade in a wide arc, Lindow intended to follow with an upwards strike with his sword. However it seemed the warg had other plans. Seeing the creature intentional take his first attack, Lindow's grin flickered as the beast went to try and bite down on his right arm during the second swing.

Losing an arm was certainly not on the agenda...

Quickly pulling back mid-stroke, Lindow clenched his fist to dispel the last remnants of Thunder Magic in his free hand. A loud snap could be heard, as the warg slammed it's jaws closed, narrowly missing it's target due to the man's speed. With a grunt, Lindow hammered his shield down into the beast's face whilst moving back to regain his footing. The warg responded by pushing the small shield away with a swing of it's head before lunging at Lindow again as if trying to tackle him. The Thunder Chosen's eyes narrowed. The warg had to weigh at least four times his own body weight, and he had no intention of seeing what would happen if the two of them were to have a head on collision.

Thus, his shadow sprang to his aid, quickly raising from the ground between the two in order to protect it's owner as he hopped backwards to gain some distance. Knowing all too well that his hasty defense would only buy him a few precious moments, Lindow began to backpedal whilst reaching for a pair of throwing knives. When warg broke through his shadow, he would reward it by tossing the two razor blades towards the creature's face with intention of blinding it.

Spoiler

Lindow emerged from Ryia's shadow and engaged the warg Liam Neeson style. After a brief exchanged he used his shadow do defend, and will throw 2 Throwing Knives.

Keres was startled when she saw Reinaan jump onto the wagon. She had thought it was clear what she had intended. The gnolls were all gathered in the wagon, the flammable wagon, but it seemed the message didn't get through. Or, was it that the Draken didn't want to take what may have seemed an order from her?

It would make sense. Who was she to tell them what to do anyway?

Either way the warrior had managed to clear the wagon out regardless so all was well.

Except she saw that Pyrrha had gone down. Having taken several serious blows to their relatively fragile body. It...was quite bloody.

"You... okay?"

"Ah." Keres let out a soft sound that could almost be described as surprise as the blood covered Draken made his way towards her. She instinctively took a step a way and cast her gaze downward before remembering this wasn't the tower and she wasn't a student.

"Yes. No injuries. Unlike you...do you need help?" She asked, before glancing over again at the fallen elf. "Wait..." She said, and started in the direction of the girl. Stopping once she saw the two foes nearby. Should she try and fight them off? But then she didn't know if she could help with Pyhrra's injuries...Her hesitation caused her to not act as the two last foes made their move.

The leader of the gnolls barked out a laugh as he saw the little elf go down. He started in her direction, content with the knowledge that the worg would deal with the armored one.

But someone appeared from nowhere to engage them. Snarling the leader took his gaze from the unconscious elf to the human girl. She was armored and, even worse, wielded a thick shield. They had mostly been attacking merchants up until now. Not soldiers. And now many of his pack had been killed off. But, he could still take advantage of the situation. They were wounded and one was down already.

He started towards Ryia but paused. With a snarl he turned from her and began to run at Pyrrha's body. Though he kept an eye on the human girl as he did so.

The worg let out a howl as he charged through the dark magic and went for Lindow. One of Lindow's knives cut across the beast's cheek. The other stuck in the corner of the worg's eye. It howled and began to shake its head to get the offending object out.

Geoff came in from the side, slashing across the beast's shoulder, tearing a wound into it.

The worg thrashed to the side, head hitting the "Chosen" in the stomach and pushing him away.

It snarled as it looked between the two, blood running down its face. It took a few steps back, crouching, and growling.

"Leave. Leave food. Will eat you instead if stay." It said, in a rough tone.

Ryia didn't have much time to catch her breath as the gnoll fell to the ground before her. Looking forward, she saw that the warg had already trained its sights on her and was already attempting to charge at her. Knowing that she was in no way going to outspeed the beast, she simply took a defensive stance and braced herself as the creature ran at her. Naturally, she was as surprised as the warg was as Lindow burst out of her shadow and stabbed at it. While she knew the Thunder Chosen was capable of such a feat, it didn't quite sit well with her to have him burst out of her own shadow. Nonetheless, as he seemed to have the beast under control and so Ryia turned her attention to the Gnoll Leader.

Looking at the creature, the two looked to be sizing each other up, before the gnoll leader had made a break for it. It was clear to her that he aiming for the Wind Chosen, and that left unchecked he would simply kill her now unconscious body. Of course, Ryia had to do everything in her power to stop that, and so the girl began to make a break for it. However, as she did, something seemed to keep her from breaking into a full on panicked sprint towards him. She knew that he was likely the most deadly of the gnolls, after all he had to be their leader for a reason. And thus, were that the case, he was likely far more skilled in a fight then they were and, as she was no prolific fighter herself, Ryia as well. As she began to run, she had remembered the last time she had thoughtlessly charged at a man far more skilled than her. She had been bested without much of a fight really.

With this in mind, Ryia thought to herself that mindlessly charging in would simply endanger both her and Pyrrah. As such, she needed something to help catch him off guard, to bridge the gap in skill between the two if only for a moment. "Ackrin!" As the girl thought her spirit's name once again, it split off from her as she began to charge the gnoll. With the Earth Spriit creating a belt of rocks around itself, it soon launched them at the gnoll leader, catching them by surprise as they had to use their arm to defend against the sudden barrage of rocks from seemingly thin air. In that moment, Ryia had managed to close the distance and though the gnoll leader still had his axe at the ready to strike at her she had, for once, been faster to the draw of attacks.

With her scimitar cutting into the beast's arm in a clean motion. Letting out a cry of pain, annoyance and anger the gnoll leader didn't seem any less willing to swing at Ryia, as he brought his axe against her side. As his axe was on her weapon side, the girl awkwardly twisted herself to block the axe with her shield, only to have the gnoll attempt to follow up with the spear in his other hand. Pivoting in her body away from the spear that was being thrust towards her leg, the girl went for a follow up slash of her own only for the gnoll to catch her blade with his axe. With the scimitar's blade being snagged underneath the blade of the axe, the gnoll began to pull back in an attempt to disarm her. Keeping her grip on it, the girl pulled back a bit, though soon figured that going into this kind of a contest would simply be playing into the spear's next attack. As such, Ryia simply let go.

With her scimitar being flung away, the girl took the opportunity she had created in setting the beast off balance by pushing forward and bashing her shield into its face. Being struck hard, the gnoll stumbled backward, shaking it's head before it snarled and went for yet another attack against her. Taking out her mace, the girl readied herself as the gnoll went to strike at her face with its axe. Bringing up her shield to defend, the girl had been too slow to do so and the gnoll seemed to be skilled enough to change the course of its axe mid swing. With her shield being ineffective, Ryia simply stepped back and leaned her head back to avoid a fatal blow, instead taking the axe straight to chest instead. Letting out a pained cough as the breath was knocked out of her, Ryia stumbled backwards as the sharp and blunt pain resounded throughout her body. Though her armor had prevented the attack from being a critical blow, it still did a number on her.

Pivoting around her, the gnoll went to stab at her side again, and though the girl attempted to pivot and defend with him, her body locked up as the pain in her chest jolted through her again. Letting out another pained grunt as the spear stabbed into her, Ryia stumbled back as she looked to her foe. Her breath was ragged and it felt as though every part of her body was currently in pain. Her stance wasn't particularly steady either. Yet still, she hadn't fallen yet, still able to fight  and defend. And so so long as her body allowed, she would prevent the creature from killing any of the other chosen.
