Contrast HERO [A Kamen Rider W expansion]

Hey Friends!  Kailyn popping in and out just cause.

Got an itch to make cards so here I am.  I also got really into toku as of this year so I figure it shows.

I was originally gonna just make Extra Deck monsters of these Riders, but then realized that Contrast HERO Chaos is basically just W (Fang / Joker) and it gets it's own sub-archetype.  Thus, I felt that it was justifiable to give my favourite rider series the sub-archetype in name as it's own fleshed out build.

Most of these are made with other pre-existing HERO cards in mind, and assumes the power scale of modern day cards in mind.  Tried hard to make the effects reflective of events in the show or attributed to the forms / abilities seen.

Source Material : Kamen Rider W

Kamen Rider W (仮面ライダーW[ダブル] Kamen Raidā Daburu) is a 2009-2010 Japanese tokusatsu drama, the eleventh series in the Heisei period run of the Kamen Rider Series.  This series heavily plays into the hard-boiled detective aesthetic while retaining quite a bit of comedy.  This coins the iconic phrase "half-boiled" used to describe one of the lead protagonists, Hidari Shotaro.  In this series, both Shotaro and his partner Philip combine their body and mind together to become one masked hero, Kamen Rider W.  Their forms are known by the combinations of gaia memories used to power their hero form (Gaia Memories are this series' collectible gimmick"). 

These include:

Philip - Cyclone / Heat / Luna / Fang

Shotaro - Joker / Metal / Trigger

In addition they have a combined final form, using the Xtreme Memory.

All cards named in this set after their various combinations each has a unique synonym for the memory they correspond to, as this series' naming convention is that each name can have two meanings in the context of the show.  In addition, all names have been horrifically butchered via self-imposed localization as this is something that frequently happens when moving cards from OCG to TCG.

Contrast HERO Chaos - A card from the Official Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG.  It is the only card of it's sub-archetype in the game, and bears an undeniable resemblance to Kamen Rider W's Fang Joker Form.  It bears a negation effect very reminiscent of Kamen Rider Eternal, who will be featured in this list as an Evil HERO due to being a Movie Villain and Anti-Hero.

Kamen Rider W - Fang Joker - A form of Kamen Rider W that is unique in that it has the two-in-one detective change which of their bodies is the physical body being put into the suit.  Ordinarily nearly all of W's forms require Hidari Shotaro (Contrast HERO Soaring Left) as the body, while Philip (Contrast HERO Radiant Right) provides the soul.  Fang Joker is the other way around; Philip provides the body and Shotaro provides the soul.  This is true for all forms featuring Fang, although the alternative forms would not appear until much later in the 2017 sequel manga - Futo Detective (風都探偵 Fūto Tantei).

Contrast HERO Soaring Left  Lv 4  DARK  Warrior/Effect  1800/1400

When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 set card your opponent controls, or one card in their hand at random and look at it. Once per turn you can discard 1 "Contrast HERO" card and declare a card name; your opponent reveals any cards in their hand or they control with the declared card name and sends it to the GY, Special Summon 1 "Contrast HERO Radiant Right" from your hand or deck, and you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn, except "Contrast HERO" monsters.

Contrast HERO Radiant Right  Lv 4  WIND  Warrior/Tuner/Effect  1200/1800

When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of a "HERO" monster, you can look at your opponent's hand.  If your opponent has a card in their GY with the same name as any card in their hand, all cards with those names are banished until the End Phase.  If no cards are banished by this effect: Your opponent draws 1 card.  If this card is sent from the field to the GY for the Synchro Summon of "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind", draw 1 card.  You can only use each effect of "Contrast HERO Radiant Right" once per turn.

Contrast HERO Shining Dragon  Lv 4  FIRE  Warrior/Effect  1500/0

If this card is summoned, it gains 100 ATK for each "HERO" monster in your GY until the End Phase.  If this card is sent to your GY by a Spell Effect, you can destroy 1 card your opponent controls.  When a  monster with "Axel" in it's name you control battles an opponent's monster: If this card is in your GY; you can banish this card from your GY, then double the ATK of that monster until the End Phase.  You can only use each effect of "Contrast HERO Shining Dragon" once per turn.

Contrast HERO Boss  Lv 4  LIGHT  Warrior/Effect  1700/1500

(Quick Effect): When your opponent activates a card or effect, you can reveal one card of the same type (Monster, Spell, Trap) from your hand; Negate and banish that card.  When this card is sent to the GY; you can add 1 card with "Contrast HERO" in it's name or effect text from your deck to your hand. You can reveal 1 "Nobody's Perfect" from your hand; draw 1 card.  You can only use each effect of "Contrast HERO Boss" once per turn.

Evil HERO - NEVER  Lv 4  DARK  Zombie/Effect  2000/0

(This card is always treated as also being Warrior-Type and Fiend-Type)
This card cannot be destroyed by battle or your opponent's card effects.  When this card is Summoned; you can add 1 card that lists "Evil HERO" in it's name or effect text from your deck to your hand.  When this card is used as Xyz Material for the Xyz Summon of "Evil HERO Forever", this card can be treated as 2 materials.  If this card is detached from an "Evil HERO Forever" you control to activate that monster's effect: You can target up to 2 "HERO" monsters in your GY; attach those monsters from the Graveyard to that face-up "Evil HERO Forever", as Xyz Materials. You can only use 1 effect of "Evil HERO - NEVER" per turn and only once that turn.

Fuuto Tower  Field Spell

When this card is activated you can reveal 1 "Contrast HERO" card in your hand; Add 1 "Contrast HERO" card from your deck to your hand, then shuffle the revealed card into your deck, afterward you can Special Summon 1 "HERO" monster from your hand, but it cannot attack and it returns to your hand during the end phase. If a "HERO" monster other than a "Contrast HERO" is summoned from your Extra Deck: you can send 1 "Contrast HERO Radiant Right" and 1 "Contrast HERO Soaring Left" from your Deck to the GY; Synchro Summon 1 "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind" from your Extra Deck or GY, and for the rest of the turn you cannot Special Summon monsters, except "Contrast HERO" monsters. You can only activate 1 "Fuuto Tower" effect per turn and only once that turn.

 

Contrast Fusion  Normal Spell

Fusion Summon 1 "Contrast HERO" monster from your Extra Deck by banishing monster from your side of the field or GY.  If a "HERO" monster you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect; you can banish this card from your GY instead.  If there are no "Contrast HERO" monsters left in your Extra Deck, and this card is in your GY: You can shuffle this card back into your Deck, then reveal your Extra Deck; Special Summon 1 "HERO" monster from your Extra Deck ignoring Summoning Conditions.  This effect of "Contrast Fusion" can only be activated once per duel.

 

Elementary, My Dear  Continuous Spell

Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to your "Contrast Change" Quick-Play spell cards. Once per turn, if you control a "Contrast HERO" monster, you can activate 1 of the following effects, or up to 2 if you control a face-up "Fuuto Tower":
*You can reveal 1 set card your opponent controls, or 1 card in their hand.
*You can add 1 "Contrast Change" Quick-Play spell card from your Deck to your Hand.  
*(Quick Effect): Target 1 set card your opponent controls or 1 card in their hand and declare 1 card name; if the revealed card's name is correct, banish it and add 1 card that lists "Contrast HERO" in it's effect text from your deck to your hand.

 

Memory Change  Quick-Play Spell

Target 1 "Contrast HERO" monster you control and send it to the GY; Special Summon 1 "Contrast HERO" monster from your Extra Deck.  (This Summon is treated as being properly summoned.) If this card is in your GY: When you activate a "Fusion", "Polymerization" or "Change" Quick-Play spell, except "Memory Change', you can set this card on your side of the field.  This effect of "Memory Change" can only be used once per turn.

 

Hard-Boiled HERO  Normal Spell

Special Summon 1 "Contrast HERO" monster from your GY.  Once per turn, except the turn this card was sent to the GY: You can banish this card from your GY; Add 1 "Contrast HERO" monster from your GY to your hand.  Once Per Turn: While this card is banished, you can banish 1 "Contrast HERO - Boss" or "Masked HERO Skull" from your GY; Add this card back to your hand.   

 

Nobody's Perfect  Normal Spell

Add 1 "Contrast HERO" card from your Deck to your Hand. If you control 1 face-up "Contrast HERO Xtreme Dream" and this card is in your GY: banish this card and 1 "Contrast HERO Skull" or "Contrast HERO Boss" from your GY; then Special Summon 1 "Contrast HERO Gold Xtreme Dream" from your Extra Deck by using it as material (Transfer its materials to the Summoned monster).  You can only activate 1 "Nobody's Perfect" per turn. 

 

MAXIMUM DRIVE  Quick-Play Spell

Target 1 "Contrast HERO" Extra Deck monster or "Evil HERO Forever" monster you control, and for the rest of this turn only the targeted monster can attack;  It gains one of the following effects until the End Phase of this turn for each "Contrast HERO" Extra Deck monster or "Evil HERO Forever that is banished or in your GY".
*This card can attack twice during each Battle Phase.
*This card cannot be targeted by your opponent's cards and effects.
*This card cannot be destroyed by battle.
*This card can attack directly.
*When this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step.

W's other 6 base Forms -

  1. Silver Sky - Target 1 face-up "Contrast HERO" monster you control; This turn, it gains 500 ATK and can attack all monsters your opponent controls once each.  If you control 1 face-up "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind", "Contrast HERO Burning Steel", or "Contrast HERO Shining Desperado" and this card is in your GY: you can banish this card; This turn, any monster that battles a "Contrast HERO" monster you control and is not destroyed by battle is returned to the owner's hand.
  2. Speeding Bullet - Draw 1 card, then if you control 1 face-up "Contrast HERO" card you can reveal the card you drew and draw 1 additional card. If you control 1 face-up "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind", "Contrast HERO Burning Steel", or "Contrast HERO Shining Desperado" and this card is in your GY: you can banish this card; return 1 card your opponent controls to the owner's hand.  You can only activate 1 "Contrast Change - Speeding Bullet" per turn.
  3. Hot-Blooded Guts - When a "Contrast HERO" monster you control battles an opponent's monster; Inflict damage equal to the attack of that opposing monster to your opponent and destroy that monster.  If you control 1 face-up "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind", "Contrast HERO Burning Steel", or "Contrast HERO Shining Desperado" and this card is in your GY: Banish this card; destroy 1 card your opponent controls, and if it was a monster inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's ATK or DEF, whichever is higher.
  4.  Explosive Magnum - Target 1 "Contrast HERO" monster you control and 1 face-up monster your opponent controls: Your opponent's monster loses ATK equal to the ATK of your "Contrast HERO" monster.  Any battle damage inflicted to your opponent from a battle involving that opponent's monster this turn is doubled. If you control 1 face-up "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind", "Contrast HERO Burning Steel", or "Contrast HERO Shining Desperado" and this card is in your GY: You can banish this card, then target 1 "Contrast HERO" monster you control; Destroy up to 2 cards your opponent controls and if you do, that monster's ATK and DEF become 0 until your opponent's next End Phase. You can only activate 1 "Contrast Change - Explosive Magnum" per turn.
  5.  Bright Boon - You can activate 1 of the following effects:
    *Change the battle positions of monsters your opponent controls up to the number of "Contrast HERO" monsters you control.
    *Tribute 1 "HERO" monster you control; Target 1 monster your opponent controls, take control of that target until the End Phase.
    If this card is in your GY: If a "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind", "Contrast HERO Burning Steel", or "Contrast HERO Shining Desperado" monster(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can banish this card instead.
  6. Hard Gleam - When your opponent activates a card or effect that targets 1 "Contrast HERO" monster you control: Your opponent must flip a coin; If the result is heads, your opponent must target 1 monster they control instead; If the result is tails, your opponent must target 1 spell or trap card they control and send it to the GY.  If your opponent cannot resolve the coin toss result, banish up to 1 card from your opponent's hand. If you control 1 face-up "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind", "Contrast HERO Burning Steel", or "Contrast HERO Shining Desperado" and this card is in your GY: you can banish this card; Special Summon up to 2 "Contrast HERO" monsters from your GY.  You can only use one effect of "Contrast Change - Hard Gleam" per turn and only once that turn.

 

W Forms using Fang -

  1. Chaos Strider - Destroy 1 card your opponent controls.  If you control a face-up "Contrast HERO Chaos", destroy cards your opponent controls up to the number of "Contrast HERO" monsters you control instead. If this card is in your GY: you can send 1 face-up "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind" you control to your GY: Special Summon 1 "Contrast HERO Chaos" from your Extra Deck, ignoring summoning requirements (This summon is treated as a Fusion Summon).  You can only activate 1 "Contrast Change - Chaos Strider" per turn.
  2. Edged Talon - All "Contrast HERO" monsters you control gain 1000 ATK and DEF. If you control 1 face-up "Contrast HERO Chaos" and this card is in your GY: Banish this card; Your opponent's monsters lose 500 ATK for every "Contrast HERO" monster you control, and if any monster's ATK is reduced to 0 that monster is sent to the GY.  
  3. Tusk Bolt - Destroy Spell and Trap cards your opponent controls equal to the number of "Contrast HERO" monsters you control. If you control 1 face-up "Contrast HERO Chaos" and this card is in your GY: you can banish this card; banish 1 card your opponent controls.

 

Xtreme exclusive -

  1. Prism Breaker - You can target 1 set card your opponent controls and declare it's card type (Monster, Spell, Trap), then reveal that card; If you declared right, you can add 1 card of the same card type from your deck to your hand, then destroy that card.  If you control a face-up "Contrast HERO Xtreme Dream", you can search for any card instead.  You can only activate 1 "Contrast Change - Prism Breaker" per turn.
  2. Final Illusion - Target any number of your banished "Contrast Change" Quick-Play Spell cards; Return them to the deck, and you may reveal set cards on your opponent's field or in their hand up to the number of cards you returned.  If you control "Contrast HERO Xtreme Dream", you can add 1 "Change" Quick-Play Spell card from your deck to your hand, except "Contrast Change - Final Illusion".

Contrast Rider Machine - Normal Trap

Special Summon 1 "Contrast HERO" monster from your GY or that is banished.  While this card is in your GY: if a "Contrast HERO" monster you control would be destroyed or banished, you can banish this card from your GY instead.

 

Contrast Memory W.B.X. - Normal Trap

If you have 3 or more "Contrast Change" Quick-Play spell cards in your GY: You can activate this card from your hand.  Set 1 "Elementary, My Dear", "MAXIMUM Drive", "Hard-Boiled HERO", "Contrast Rider Machine" or "Case Closed" from your deck, and if you control "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind", you can activate that set card this turn.  You can banish this card from your GY; return up to 2 "Contrast Change" cards from your GY to your Deck.

 

I didn't hear anything about this! - Counter Trap

If you control a face-up "Contrast HERO" monster: When your opponent summons a monster, or activates the effect of a card whose effect includes summoning a monster; Negate that summon or card effect, and destroy that card.  If you control a face-up "Contrast HERO" Extra Deck monster and "Fuuto Tower", you can actiavte this card from your hand.  You can only activate 1 "I didn't hear anything about this!" per turn.

 

Case Closed - Normal Trap

Banish 1 "Contrast HERO Radiant Right" from your GY; Your opponent cannot Special Summon monsters from the GY, and monsters Special Summoned from the Extra Deck cannot attack or activate their effects the turn they are Summoned. You cannot Special Summon "Contrast HERO" monsters from your Extra Deck or GY until your next Standby Phase, except "Contrast HERO Kirifuda: or cards whose name contains "Contrast HERO Axel". During the Standby Phase after this card was activated, banish this card from your GY; Special Summon 1 "Contrast HERO" Plucky Wind from your GY or Extra Deck (this summon is treated as a Synchro Summon), and add 1 banished "Contrast HERO Radiant Right" to your hand. You can only activate 1 "Case Closed" per turn.

 

Enjoy your HELL - Counter Trap

When your opponent activates a card effect while you destroy a face-up "Evil HERO Forever", Negate that card and destroy it. Your opponent cannot activate cards with that name so long as this card in the GY. If this card leaves the GY; you can send 1 "HERO" monster from your deck to the GY; set 1 "Enjoy your HELL from your deck to your side of the field.  You can only activate 1 "Enjoy our HELL

You can reveal any number of "Contrast" spell or trap cards from your hand and reveal cards your opponent controls or in their hand equal to the cards you revealed. You can reduce this card's ATK by 1000 until the End Phase; this card can attack directly this turn. When this card declares a direct attack: you can add 1 "HERO" monster from your GY to your hand.  If this card is destroyed and sent to the GY: You can Special Summon 1 "Contrast HERO Plucky Wind" or "Contrast HERO" Burning Steel" from your GY. You can only use each effect of Contrast HERO Shining Desperado" once per turn.

Xtreme Dream  Rank 8 WIND Warrior/Xyz/Effect  3000/3000

3 Level 8 "HERO" monsters

When Xyz Summoning this card, if a"Contrast HERO Plucky Wind" you control is used as Xyz material: the other materials can be 1 "Contrast HERO Soaring Left" and 1 "Contrast HERO Radiant Right" in your GY. This card's summon cannot be negated.  Once per turn (Quick Effect), you can detatch 1 Xyz Material and banish 1 card from your opponent's GY; banish all cards with that name in it's controller's hand, Main Deck, and Extra Deck.  If your this card is attacked and has no Xyz Material: destroy this card. 

Gold Xtreme Dream  Rank 10  WIND Warrior/Xyz/Effect

(This card is always treated as both an"Elemental HERO" card and all attributes).
This card cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of "Nobody's Perfect". This card's summon cannot be negated, and cards and effects cannot be activated in response to it's summon.  Once per turn (Quick Effect) you can detatch 1 Xyz Material from this card and activate one of the following effects:
*Your opponent reveals their hand, and all cards they control or in their GY with the same name cannot activate their effects this turn.
*You can look at the top 5 cards of your deck, add 1 "Contrast" card to your hand, and place them back in any order.
 If this card leaves the field, you can Special Summon 1 "Contrast HERO Xtreme Dream" from your GY and attach this card to it as Xyz Material.

Swift Axel Xtreme  Level -8  FIRE Warrior/Dark Synchro/Effect 3500/1000

"Contrast HERO Radiant Right" - "Contrast HERO Shining Dragon"
When you Dark Synchro Summon this card, you can treat 1 "Contrast HERO  Radiant Right as a Level 12 Dark Tuner monster. If this card is Summoned, banish 1 "Contrast HERO Soaring Left" from your GY; destroy all cards your opponent controls. This card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect.  When this card attacks or is attacked: This monster gains ATK equal to the ATK of the opponent's monster it is battling, until the end of this turn.

NOTE:  For Flavor reasons it is considered a Dark Synchro, due to the form only being seen in non-canon video games, and only referenced in show.  It is a form given power by hatred and veangeance, and pairs Philip and Terui Ryu (Radiant Right and Shining Dragon) instead of Shotaro (Soaring Left).  For any [Advanced] card review, consider this card to be a standard Synchro Monster, removing the effects related to Dark Synchro, similar to how other Dark Synchros have made their way into the TCG.

Masked HERO Shippu  Level 6 WIND Warrior/Fusion/Effect  2000/1500

Must first be Special Summoned with "Mask Change".
(This card is always treated as a "Contrast HERO" card).
(Quick Effect) You can reveal any number of "Contrast Change" cards from your hand, add an equal number of "Contrast Change" cards from your deck to your hand with different names than the revealed cards, then shuffle the revealed cards into the deck.  During your opponent's turn: You can activate 1 "Contrast Change" Quick-Play spell card from your hand.  When this card leaves the field: Special Summon 1 "Contrast HERO Radiant Right" from your Hand or GY.  You can use each effect of "Masked HERO Shippu" per turn.

Masked HERO Kirifuda  Level 6 DARK Warrior/Fusion/Effect  2300/1700

When this card attacks, you can destroy 1 card your opponent controls. If your opponent controls no cards, you can send 1 card from their hand to the GY. If this card is sent to the GY; you can add 1 "Nobody's Perfect" from your Deck to your Hand.

Masked HERO Axel  Level 7 FIRE Warrior/Fusion/Effect 2000/1200

Must first be Special Summoned with "Mask Change".
(This card is always treated as a "Contrast HERO" card).
When this card is Summoned, it gains 100 ATK for each "HERO" monster in your GY until the End Phase. When this card destroys a monster by battle, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monster's ATK.

Masked HERO Axel Try  Level 8 FIRE Warrior/Fusion/Effect 2000/1200

Must first be Special Summoned with "Mask Change".
(This card is always treated as a "Contrast HERO" card).
Once per turn (Quick Effect) when a card or effect is activated; you can negate that card and destroy it.  This monster can attack up to the number of monsters your opponent controlled at the start of your battle phase.  When this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the damage step.  If this card was summoned using "Masked  HERO Axel" as material, this card gains 100 ATK for each HERO monster in your GY.

Masked HERO Axel Boost  Level 8 FIRE Warrior/Fusion/Effect 2000/1200

Must first be Special Summoned with "Mask Change".
(This card is always treated as a "Contrast HERO" card).
If this card is Summoned; You can draw 2 cards, then discard 1 "HERO" monster.  If you cannot, discard your hand. This card cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects.  Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can halve this card's ATK; This card can attack directly this turn. If this card was summoned using "Masked HERO Axel" as material, this card cannot be targeted for attacks.

Evil HERO Forever  Rank 4 DARK Zombie/Xyz/Effect 2500/2000

2 level 4 "HERO" monsters
(This card is always treated as a Fiend and Warrior types).
When this card is Xyz Summoned, you can add 1 card that lists "Dark Fusion" in it's name or effect text to your hand. (Quick effect) Once per turn you can detatch 1 Xyz material from this card; negate the effects of all cards on the field, except "Evil HERO" cards. If this card would be destroyed, you can detatch 1 Xyz material from this card instead.

Xtra HERO Vagrant X  LINK - 4 DARK Warrior/Link/Effect  1000

2+ "HERO" monsters
This card gains ATK equal to the combined total of all "HERO" monsters it points to. (Quick effect) Once per turn you can target 1 "HERO" monster in your GY; this card gains that target's effects until the end phase of this turn. If this card would be removed from the field, you can banish 1 "HERO" Extra Deck monster in your GY instead. During your Standby Phase, you can return 1 banished "HERO" Extra Deck monster to your Extra Deck.

Note:  Decade (Xtra HERO Vagrant X) is really just here as the "Crossover" HERO, much like Wonder Driver.  He was also featured in W's origin movie, as the other half of the "Double" feature.  It's partially a joke, but also kind of a legit design.
