I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.
-Micah 5:12 (NIV)

The bones and roots gave chase after Zadkiel and Melissa even without their mistress to give them orders. It was something that seemed a little unsporting to Melissa, though she supposed she had little reason to expect anything else from the witch, given what she had seen so far. She willed Zadkiel to fly a little slower, hoping that the cherub could swipe at the pursuing missiles with its sword, but there was just enough spread between all the ribs that Zadkiel could only hit one at a time, and there were enough femurs and ribs still flying along that it was inefficient at the very least, if not outright dangerous. Who knew what else Morgan had imbued these remains with? She sped back up again.

Thankfully, it did not take long for Melissa to come up with a better idea. She had Zadkiel fly back up, gaining just enough extra space before it came to a halt and Melissa switched over to Sandalphon. Each of the ophan’s multitude of eyes was already aglow, and its rings all spun around Melissa, protecting her from every angle it could manage. The bones came flying in, and as each one of them made contact with Sandalphon, the ophan released a burst of energy, disintegrating the missile and rotating again to block the next. Soon, nothing was chasing her but the roots, all densely packed and trying to mindlessly grab at whatever angelic parts they could. Those could be cleaved. Melissa could see through Sandalphon’s eyes Fen doing so with a blade made of ice, and she returned to Zadkiel’s cherubic embrace to allow it to do likewise with its flaming sword.

They descended all the while, hacking at root outgrowths until there was nothing else that could pose a threat, but despite the soft landing, Melissa still collapsed to her knees when Zadkiel disappeared. “Whoa,” she said, as vertigo overwhelmed her. She thought she had gotten used to this! As she tried to maintain her shaky brace, digging her hands into the cemetery dirt, Melissa tried to figure out what was going wrong. Was it residual dizziness from that roll Zadkiel had done to evade the skulls? Was it because of the constant back-and-forth switches she had pulled without the protective assumptions of the simulation pod? More mysteries to add to the pile.

Fen was asking her something. Fen was asking if she was alright. “I’m okay,” Melissa said. She was pretty sure she was, anyway. “Give me a minute.” Her nausea had cleared quickly, and she returned to a kneeling position easily enough, though she wasn’t confident enough to stand all the way up just yet.

I would tell Mauvache immediately, for the remains that need reburying and the graves that need reconsecrating if nothing else,” Melissa said when she managed to parse Fen’s other questions. “It makes sense to set those things in motion earlier rather than later, even if she can’t do anything about it until morning. Plus, Mauvache seems like the sort of person who would already know, so the less delay the better.” Did that make sense? Melissa felt like she was overthinking things again, or maybe that was just where her brain was still. “And I don’t know. I guess what I’m most worried about is that she’ll recognize us next time.” Melissa only realized as she was saying it that she was implying there would actually be a “next time.” “She seems like the type to hold a grudge.

Fen didn't really know how to tell Trevor that she had also never heard of this "Great Wizard Merlin" before she had come here, though she also figured that the both of their magics were fundamentally different on some level. All the same she could understand some of his comments, nodding and saying, "yeah, I could uh, barely keep pace with her attacks with my own magic. So I still have some things to work on for myself." The girl was glad that both of her companions were no worse for wear, at least physically, about the whole ordeal. And as they both seemed to think that it would be a better idea to keep Mauvache informed sooner rather than later, she found herself agreeing with the idea and looked at her watch.

She had already done this with Kelsey before, so it was just a matter of repeating the same steps just with a different recipient this time. Of course, she had only done this once before so the two of her other squad mates could see the pause and hesitation in Fen's actions before she finally managed to get to the message app, seeming to pump herself up as she began to write out her message.

We went to the destination and encountered a witch by the name of Morgan Reaperson. She was quite powerful. We managed to repel most of her offense and she ended up leaving the scene of her own accord for reasons that I am not sure on.

Will send more details on request or come speak personally to you tomorrow.
-Fen

After pressing send a reply came almost instantly.

Okie dokie artichokie

"Eh?" Fen was audibly confused as she looked at the reply. She hadn't spoken much to Mauvache before so she couldn't say with certainty that this wasn't like how she'd speak normally, but it certainly far differed from her expectations. Dumbfounded as to how to respond, starting to type something, another reply came through.

sorry

And then another.

Understood, that girl has been a problem for some time and she keeps slipping away.

Understood, I shall continue to be on the lookout for her then.

-Fen

With her last reply being sent, Fen let out a deep breath before looking back to the others. "Well, she uh, seems informed of the situation now though, Morgan  does sound like a well, persistent problem for them. So, I guess we should keep on the lookout for her. Oh but uh, if she recognizes us maybe we'll be able to talk instead of uh, this." The girl gestured to the mess around them. Sure the collective of them had taunted her, but if she was petty enough to hold grudges maybe she was also petty enough to consider this a win? And not need to fight again? Fen hoped at least. She didn't look or sound entirely confident in this, though, and instead decided to just say, "well, I guess our work is done. So uh, let's head back...team."

In the meantime, while Melissa suggested that they inform Mauvache immediately and as Fen did so, Trevor proceeded to cast a quick Curaga on the rest of his teammates. Of course, they weren't as banged up as normal, but the healing powers of the Cure magic would definitely not only heal him and his allies, bit give them a bit of a rejuvenating feeling in order to keep going.

"There we are, right as rain." he chuckled, letting out a content sigh. He of course was still thinking over it all. Such powerful magic users, and yet, he couldn't find one to potentially work with in order to better his own magical skills. Things were a bit bleak on that front, especially given Gregoriy...

"Well, she uh, seems informed of the situation now though, Morgan does sound like a well, persistent problem for them. So, I guess we should keep on the lookout for her. Oh but uh, if she recognizes us maybe we'll be able to talk instead of uh, this. well, I guess our work is done. So uh, let's head back...team."

"Naturally...seems like just one issue right after the other." Trevor sighed with a light chuckle. "Team Grand for one...that one tea saucer individual I ran into...and now miss Reaperson. I feel like we continue to make enemies...or just happen to have individuals who simply don't care for us in general." Not like Trevor wasn't too used to it. After all, his old allies and team he worked with back during his time in the Ever had it's ups and downs, especially traveling to each and every world they had. Trust wasn't a huge thing apparently...seems like that stayed true.

"In any case, I say we did our best. Perhaps tomorrow will present us with better fortune than it did today."

The rest of the night passed uneventfully and they were able to get a night's rest without being disturbed. Which brought with it the next morning and something rather surprising.

Though before then if any of them were to check the news feed that would automatically pop up on their watches in the morning they would find that the big news story of the day was "Plants In Pants concert delayed due to security being turned into pumpkins".

At first, beyond that odd headline, everything seemed normal that day. That is until one of them were to go downstairs. Once they did they would find something in the hallway.

Laying in the middle of the hallway near the front door, curled up in a ball, was a girl. At first glance she seemed mostly human. However a second look would reveal a long lizard-like tail. A third look and one might notice the patches of scales that were all over her body. These were clearly visible as the girl did not have anything on to cover her body.

She wasn't doing anything but laying there and appeared to be fast asleep without a care in the world.

Spoiler

At first I was trying to figure out a hook for each person individually and make this a longer post but then decided to just throw this short post curve ball first thing in the morning that everyone is bound to be able to react to and we can figure out what you each want to do today beyond that.

Back on the old Card Maker, in the early 2010s (or was it slightly before? Whatever.), I started doing these all-all crossovers which eventually lead to me making X-Over Academy, which was about characters from all over the multiverse being in school.

There was also a reworked version where the Academy was a type of magic school and the characters from all over the cosmos were their familiars. Others too have done their wee takes after this.

But now, I want to bring X-Over Academy back in its purest form - as a school where characters from all different kinds of series get together. Original characters are permitted - but only if you can prove that they are from a roleplay or even Fanfiction that has graced either this site or the old one.

EDIT: Instead of just characters from YCM or NCM, I am now permitting characters used from different sites as well, be it another forum, fanficdotnet, AO3, etc., as long as you can prove that they exist and were made prior a good long while to your signups. I understand that Discord RPs or other Chatroom RPs are popular and you'd want to use characters from those, so uh, I'll think of something.

If you're going to ask if characters like MMO avatars or the like are permitted since they might fall into the 'originales des character' territory - yes, yes they are.

Instead of a vaguely defined centre of the Multiverse like prior, I'm thinking the roleplay's setting will be a bit of a set world - specifically a section of Kivotos from Blue Archive. Kivotos is a big Academy City, and a lot of stuff happens. The Academy is meant to skirt the line of being a secret and being known - so what better way than to hide a tree in a forest, especially if a lot of things happen in said forest that are more interesting than the tree you're hiding? Plus there's lots of good places around. What do you think? Do you have other places in mind?

In prior versions of the RP, there were 'normal' subjects in addition to combat classes, and by extension teachers. How about this one? Should I have many classes (obviously excluding combat-based classes if need be) be replaced by online learning - seeing how in school RPs, characters don't really roleplay them out? Or should I just have teachers as per normal? If so, playable or NPC?

This RP will have the occasional incident in school to make things interesting, festival for celebration or field trip if you feel that your current location is a bit boring.
