Rules

Spoiler
First and foremost, all YCM and RP section rules apply. That means no powerplaying, godmodding, etc. You know, obvious things that you should not do because you’re a decent human being.
I, and by extension, any and all cohosts, have final say. I am the law. However, I can be lenient if you are calm and explain yourself well. If you do not post within several days f when you are needed to post, I reserve the right to move your character. If you do not post for two weeks, then I reserve the right to write out your character. However, I can extend the timeline if you have a valid reason, but you have to tell me.
This is PG-16 to allow all kind of things to happen. Death happens, bad things happen, good things happen, stuff happens. Circle of Life, Circle of Death.
Customs are allowed, however, you must run them by the host and cohosts, and they must be approved by us before you can use them.

Setting

Spoiler
Project Crimson take place fifty years after Yugioh 5Ds, and ignores the events of Zexal and Arc-V. During these fifty years, six major cities were constructed, each one focusing on a Summoning Mechanic. Each town has every form of summoning, however, the ones they specialize in are more common, and more powerful cards of that kind appear in their town.

Due to the tireless research of Yusei Fudo, he was able to develop a program that stabilized the Momentum Reactor, allowing free and clean energy for the world to use. Because of this, technology made many advances. About 25 years later, Solid Vision was created, which allowed for a new kind of Dueling to rise, Action Dueling. It became a popular sporting event, and became its own league.
Psychic Duelists still roam the world, some using their power for good, others for their own selfish gains, and some gave themselves up for research, to discover the origins of their power. In hushed whispers, people speak of a more sinister version of Psychic Duels, where you use your own life force to power your monsters. They are called Destiny Duels.

During these fifty years, the game of Duel Monsters evolved even further beyond, adding two new summoning methods, known as Xyz and Pendulum. At first, there was an outcry that Xyz were too easy and Pendulum were even worse. The stigma still does exist with a vocal minority, but they have been accepted for the most part.

Database

Spoiler

(This will be updated as seen fit. Be sure to check back now and then. Or maybe not because spoilers are a pain in the fucking ass.)

Greater Domino Area

Spoiler

The Greater Domino Area is a large chunk of the world that is, by all means, the ultimate hub of all things Duel Monsters, and is identified quickly by six large cities. Because we live in a world where card games mean everything, this by no coincidence means that the Greater Domino Area is also considerably more urbanized and densely populated in comparison to the rest of the world. Technology in this area is a fair leap ahead of the rest of the world, and in addition to a bustling and powerful economy, it's not hard to see why somebody would opt to live here. Of course, due to so many people living here, the Greater Domino Area also has the downside of being the most likely place in the world where something goes terribly wrong.

The Cities

Spoiler

Domino City (Main)

Spoiler

The largest and oldest (not to mention namesake) city of the Greater Domino Area, Domino City is the Duel Monsters capitol of the world. Millions of Duelists from far and wide come here to participate in any number of tournaments, set up businesses, or watch their favorite Pro Duelists go head-to-head with each other. This is also the central headquarters for Kaiba Corp, who have established a monopoly for new technology and printing cards for the game that has made Domino City such a massive metropolis. As a result, the economy has found itself based almost entirely off of Duel Monsters; even its tourist attractions have to do with card games.

Most notably, the Duel Museum was constructed twenty years ago and contains in great detail the history of Duel Monsters and the champions of the game that continues to form the core of society. By closely observing the duels of past champions, the Duel Museum was even capable of being equipped with an AI unit that can be dueled, fully equipped with the decks and techniques of champions past. For a small fee, of course. While Domino City has all the comforts and luxuries one could ever ask for from a major city, it also comes fully equipped with the downsides one may not be so proud of.

Domino City has come to a point where two things make the city go round: Duel Monsters, and cold hard cash. It's a dog-eat-dog economy out there, and greed can run rampant in the hearts of Domino's citizens once they get a taste of just how much power can come with enough cash. This isn't to say one can't be broke and survive here, but it certainly makes life difficult in the big city. Under its cheering tournament crowds, neon lights, and bustling tourism, Domino City's heart is slowly rotting.

Reffo City (Ritual)

Spoiler

The smallest city in the Greater Domino Area. Reffo is the "suburb city", so dubbed for its calm atmosphere, open space, and sparse population compared to the overpopulated cities in the rest of the area. KaibaCorp has designated Reffo as the city where the most powerful Ritual Monsters and ritual support get shipped, and as a result, the city's taken a natural stance that favors the Ritual Summoning mechanic. The lack of reliance on an Extra Deck as well as a much more rural vibe than the other cities in the Greater Domino Area are what Reffo is known for at a glance. A deeper look also shows that a lot of the population is quite old, and it would seem that many folks from other cities retire then move to Reffo.

The people of Reffo have proven to be quite hospitable with outsiders, and outside of Duel Monsters, the city gets a lot of its income from a plethora of inns and restaurants put in place to make visitors more comfortable during their stay. Reffo's most distinguishing feature is perhaps Old Town, a district found dead in the center of Reffo City that seems to have been thrown straight into the modern day from a time long since past. Dirt roads, traditional shrines and temples, paper lanterns, and more decorate Old Town. As a result, the atmosphere of this particular area is extremely different from the concrete buildings and streetlights of the Greater Domino Area in general. Roughly in the center of Old Town - and as a result, Reffo City itself - is a massive, three-story pagoda that is the city's largest dueling arena, which has found itself surrounded by several inns, restaurants, and stalls.

Taccon City (Fusion)

Spoiler

Statistically, Taccon City is the wealthiest city in the Greater Domino Area. The average income of its families is higher than in any other city, which leads to inflated egos in many of the locals, but don't be fooled. Taccon City just barely takes home the gold for being the richest city, and the number of wealthy families living here gets artificially inflated by the presence of the Greater Domino Area's largest and most prestigious Duel Academy, not to mention the most expensive to attend. While a lot of Pro Duelists and their families end up living here due to the famous Duelist Academia, Taccon itself ironically has no proper dueling arena. Instead, its tournaments are hosted in the mighty Duelist Academia's dueling fields.

Although KaibaCorp has decided to focus its more powerful Fusion Monsters and fusion support toward Taccon's stores, the Duelist Academia holds courses for all manner of summoning methods. As a result, Taccon isn't as largely populated by users of the local summoning mechanic as other cities would be. It's perfectly likely to find a user of any summoning mechanic here, either as a Pro Duelist, a student at Duelist Academia, or somebody who either aspires to be or is related to either of the above. That being said, the people of Taccon have a particular distrust for Xyz users, due to some negative stigmas attached to Hearthome City and wanting to keep their image as a very desirable place to live.

Turbo City (Synchro)

Spoiler

If roads and vehicles were bills and coins, Turbo City would by a long shot be the wealthiest city in the Greater Domino Area. However, they are not, and Turbo City's economy is by no means booming. As its name so subtly implies, Turbo City is a city built with Turbo Dueling in mind. By no coincidence, KaibaCorp chose this city to be the spot where the most powerful Synchro Monsters and synchro support would be sent. The whole thing works out rather nicely; powerful synchro cards get sold in Turbo City, which encourages Synchro Summoning monsters in Turbo Duels, generating Momentum for the Greater Domino Area and causing living expenses in Turbo City to drop considerably. This in turn leads to cheaper housing, letting people spend more money on new synchro cards, and the whole thing has spiraled in a way that leads some to call Turbo City "The Power Plant", as it's where most of the Greater Domino Area's Momentum comes from.

Turbo City's infrastructure can be confusing to outsiders at first; in an attempt to keep traffic under control, the city's roads and highways had to be built in three layers, two of which are occupied by the city itself. The city's bottom layer consists mostly of businesses and the occasional duel arena. Despite very efficient road layouts, traffic still gets pretty congested down here, but this bottom layer of the city serves as the economic (and physical) foundation for the rest of Turbo City regardless. The second layer, often called the "Nest" by the locals, holds the city's housing and inns. There are a great many ramps that connect the Nest to the businesses below, but traffic around these can still clog up during rush hours when most businesses open and close. Quite a few houses in the Nest connect to a business directly beneath it that the residents own. Most interesting, however, is the third layer.

The top layer of Turbo City, otherwise known as the Skyway, almost entirely consists of vast looping highways designed for Turbo Duels. The Skyway is accessed via a handful of "skyports" that can be found throughout the city, which act both as parking garages and large elevators for vehicular use. The Skyway also has one singular building besides the skyports used to access it; a large duel arena with a large track running along its perimeter, to be used in Turbo Duel tournaments. D-Wheel safety is a particular concern among Turbo City officials, as despite several efforts put into place to protect Turbo Duelists on the Skyway, crashes are still fairly common.

Hearthome City (Xyz)

Spoiler

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Nobody's sure what caused it, but some time about a decade ago, a violent protest in Hearthome sparked up and became a full-blown riot. That riot led to more riots, and Hearthome nearly destroyed itself with a full month of violence, lawlessness, and property damage. By the time the dust had settled, Hearthome was a city of dilapilated buildings and run-down shacks that many agree would be better off demolished and rebuilt. Despite the seemingly universal wariness of the city's current state, the authorities of the Greater Domino Area have made no effort to restore order in Hearthome, and KaibaCorp has not revoked the city's status as the destination for the most powerful Xyz Monsters and support. Anyone who wants to make it big with an Xyz-based deck considers visiting this city a necessary evil, and for good reason.

You could spit from a Hearthome rooftop and it would almost certainly land on a dishonest human being who will lie, swindle, manipulate, and cheat to eke out a pitiful life in the rotting corpse of a once-gorgeous city. Even the city's run-down shacks, looking as though they'll collapse at any second, are terribly overpriced, and it would seem as though how easily one can afford their groceries here directly correlates with how good they are at stealing those very groceries. The only thing the people of Hearthome hold sacred in this city's disrepaired roads and shady alleyways is the local duel arena; the only building that wasn't damaged during the infamous riots. Inside the arena's walls, even the filthiest of homeless Hearthome citizens and the richest of gangsters running the city become equals, and - in their own distorted way - the people become respectful toward one another inside the arena's walls. Disrespecting somebody in "the pit" is considered a serious offense by the locals, and anyone who offends the people of Hearthome will find that they're a vengeful sort with a warped sense of community, and will make the already-difficult lives of anybody that offends their city damn near impossible.

For the most part, Hearthome is run by gangs that are constantly warring with one another for territory. As a result, the "laws" that govern a person's daily life can change in the blink of an eye. However, Hearthome citizens aren't a hopeless sort. If oppressed too strongly, the common men and women here violently rebel against their criminal overlords. This turns gang wars into an odd form of politics where local criminals keep the masses content with their miserable lives in order to secure their territory, in exchange for the masses holding down the fort for the local gangs. Of course, vigilantes exist, and most famous among them is the "Dread Knight"; an enigma with very little known information.

Cradle City (Pendulums)

Spoiler

If it's bright and flashy you want, look no further than Cradle City. Bright neon, streamlined roads, and several arenas designed specifically for Action Duels that feature monitors on the outsides make Cradle a city that never sleeps. Perhaps because of its bright colors and personality, KaibaCorp designated Cradle as the location where the most powerful Pendulum Monsters and related support would be found. Due to an unusually high amount of local tournaments that are hosted in Cradle City, many who aspire to make it big as Pro Duelists end up living here, especially if their pursuit involves Action Duels. Every duel arena in Cradle is equipped with Solid Vision generators, and due to the considerably large amount of them, Cradle City has become the number-one Action Dueling center for the Greater Domino Area.

Cradle City is also the home of the WDMA, causing it to gain even more attention from the fans of newer pros around the globe as they come here time and again to participate in tournaments that would grant them entry to more prestigious events hosted in Domino City. It's not at all uncommon for a person to go about their daily business in Cradle and see a rising star on the streets at least twice a day. However, just as much as this is a place where hopes and dreams are born, Cradle City is where those of many an aspiring would-be pro come to die. The WDMA headquarters in Cradle is the stage for a semi-annual tournament that attracts many would-be pros, with the winner being recognized as an official Pro Duelist. However, this tournament will also reject a duelist if they've participated three times and still not taken the gold.

Aside from its grand duel arenas, most of Cradle's buildings are fairly modest; no towering skyscrapers to be found like in Domino or other big cities, and housing is more compact in size to allow for more of it in quantity. Cradle City's population and size is second in the Greater Domino Region only to Domino City itself, and it also boasts the lowest amount of homeless and/or unemployed citizens. There's always something to do here, and the city itself welcomes anyone who thinks they're up for its fast pace and bright atmosphere.

WDMA

Spoiler

The World Duel Monster Association. Think of it like the NFL, the head of the sport leagues of Duel Monsters.

Duel Museum

Spoiler

Twenty years, this museum was built to honor the champions of the past. By watching the old duels, they were able to recreate the champions' decks, and create an AI that can be freely challenged.

Dread Knight

Spoiler

Not much is known about the Dread Knight. Few have seen him, and those who do hardly can describe him. From what has been gathered, he is a man dressed in black clothes that resembles light armor. with a purple scarf. He seems to play Phantom Knights, and it is rumored he is a Psychic Duelist.

Kaiba Corp

Spoiler

After buying out Industrial Illusions, Kaiba Corp became the sole distributor of Duel Monsters, creating a card game empire. They are also the reason why the cards are spread as they are. Due to marketing, they threw the best cards of a Summoning Mechanic to the city that had the most interest in them. Domino itself, however, got the short end of the stick, but got the newest cards first.

Kaiba Corp is the largest provider of jobs in Neoteric Domino, and as such, pretty much have the local government in their pockets. They apparently are starting to spread their influences farther, although what this means, no one truly knows.

The Current Duel King

Spoiler

Kyouji Ryuu is the current Duel King, the third one after Yusei Fudo, and he is a loud, passionate, and hot blooded man. He runs a Synchro Dinosaur deck known as the Dinozars. It is rumored he is a student of the one and only JACK ATLAS.

Duel Spirits

Spoiler

Duel Spirits are beings from a parallel universe that can inhabits Duel Monsters cards. Usually, they can only been seen by special people, or by people who have a strong bond to the card. They have distinct personalities, and more often then not help their Duelists. Some may have more sinister motives though.

Cards

Spoiler

Only three sets of cards are off limits. The Egyptian God Cards, The Wicked Gods, and the Sacred Beasts. The signer cards have been reproduced, and they do not have the spirits of the cards like the signers’. Number Cards do not have the anime Number Clause, meaning they can be destroyed by battle from any kind of monster.
There is no ban list, and any cards will be their pre-errated cards, however, do not stack your decks with them. Exodia OTKs and Yata locks are off limits.

Classy

IGGEbA0.jpg
"You're one of the lucky few to be gifted with a mark instead of death. At least try to act the part, would you?"

Name: Natsumi
Age: 17
Gender: Female

Physical Description:

iMwmcOm.jpg

A girl on the shorter side, standing at a mere 5'3", Natsumi has a head of naturally green hair, which she cuts cautiously and meticulously to be just the right length. Her frame is an overall thin one, which seems only thinner when considering her chest is reminiscent of a coffee table. Natsumi dresses neatly, and is very particular about the little things in her outfit, like wrinkles, stains, or worst of all, something being off-center. Also worth note is that Natsumi walks with a limp, putting her weight more on her right side. This is because - as the keen observer may find for themselves at some point - her left leg is in fact a prosthetic.

Personality:

A perfectionist with too much attention on the little details, Natsumi believes in change and progress above all else. Progress is what separates the cutting-edge technology of today from the sticks and stones of ancient times, and change is what turns misery into joy. Without those sacred concepts, life is meaningless. As such, Natsumi frowns upon old-fashioned views and traditions. It's the new experiences and ideas that thrill her, which has the benefit of Natsumi often trying to come up with new solutions to old problems. Of course, it also makes her restless and impatient. Natsumi can't stand sitting around and simply waiting, and has to be productive with her time. She likewise expects others to not slack about and make use of their limited time on this earth.

For someone of such rough and unsavory origins, however, Natsumi carries herself in a manner more befitting a girl from a house of class and prestige. She finds that even - or rather, especially - when one comes from a life that doesn't get any respect, acting in a respectable manner is the key to getting by in a civilized world. Imperfections and blemishes on one's character should be hidden away, she'd say, but Natsumi still has plenty of traits left over from her run-down childhood.

She values material wealth greatly, and tries to be a frugal spender as best she can. This includes greatly frowning upon wastefulness. Especially when it involves food. It can also be hard to gain Natsumi's trust, which only further incentivizes her to put up an icy, "perfect" exterior.

Biography:

Born and "raised" in Hearthome City, Natsumi never knew her birth family. The orphanage staff were her parents, and the other orphaned street rats were her brothers and sisters. It isn't a past Natsumi particularly likes talking about. Her time after being adopted into Project Crimson, on the other hand, is a different story.

Taken on at the ripe age of nine, Natsumi was pulled out of Hearthome and into an isolated facility in the attempt to give her a fake Signer mark. While she didn't fully understand the weight of this experiment at first, she was exceptionally cooperative and enthusiastic about the project the more she worked it all out. Even if she died, doing it in the name of science was far better than getting stabbed in some grimey alleyway back home. Perhaps because she was so willing, Natsumi was among the first of the Project Crimson orphans to develop a Signer mark. Needless to say, she was thrilled, and is looking forward to meeting the other successful experiments.

Deck, Duel Dragon, & Custom Cards:

Deck - Scrap: An archetype of EARTH monsters that have a variety of types, the Scrap archetype emphasizes a strategy that involves destroying its own monsters to recycle monsters. This deck is garbage. It's ace monster and Duel Dragon is Scrap Dragon.

latest?cb=20181012182322

Custom Cards:

Scrap Wyvern (retrain)

Misc. Info:

  • Duel Dragon Theme
  • Duel Spirit: Scrap Worm.
  • Has always wanted to learn to play violin.
  • Doesn't get along well with animals. Fears dogs in particular.

Put Your Faith in the Light

Spoiler

Name: Kiyoko Matsumoto
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Physical Description

Spoiler

nw6Oq3l.jpg

Alright guys, listen. I don't like this part. You don't like this part. So let's get it over with. Kiyoko, that girl up there, you know. Her. The signer. Yeah, she's like, 5 feet and 8 inches tall, this fucking amazon of a woman. Speaking of, she has weight. How much? Dunno, i would've just made up a number and you would've just been like, "that's a number" anyway so yeah. She's an athletic girl so she's got muscle. But not like, any amount that her basic animated self would be any different from a normal girl of her stature. But when you got those close ups for those high actions scenes when they're doing stuff, boom, that's when you know it.

She rides a d-wheel. Here, it's like this. But has gold trimmings or something because LIGHTSWORNS! Alright that's it for now.

Personality

Spoiler

Very driven, Kiyoko always works towards the goals she has set out to accomplish. Kiyoko does not believe anything is insurmountable, and with enough hard work and effort anything can be overcome. There are no brakes for this drive, as Kiyoko will constantly tackle whatever obstacle stands between her and whatever goal she currently has with simple determination. While not necessarily stupid, once she begins her path to solving whatever objective she's set out to do she becomes a tunnel visioned as to how to solve this. After all, the shortest path from point A to B is a straight line, and if you have to get a little bruised or use a little force to get there then so be it. With an ironclad resolve, Kiyoko's body is faster to give out then her spirit is.

Kiyoko is a very formal person and not exactly someone who makes friends easily. To Kiyoko, there are only two kinds of people; colleagues and obstacles. There are either those who she can work with and help get to her end goal, or they're just there to get in her way. In the case of the former, she's cordial and polite with them, and very willing to cooperate. In the case of the latter, she is either dismissive or downright hostile towards them, depending on how much they're willing to get in her way.

Biography

Spoiler

With no real memory of her parents, Kiyoko only ever knew the confines of her orphanage. The kids in the orphanage weren't necessarily poorly treated, but there was no real guardian figure and they were often left to their own devices. Naturally, with no real authority figure this bred some feelings of superiority in some of the older kids which caused a variety of living experiences. Some wanted to look out for their little "siblings" while others wanted to take advantage of them. Once she was old enough to start speaking her mind and actually act on her own beliefs, she started opposing these kinds of bullies. She fought with them, constantly. She lost to them, constantly. However, no matter how battered or bruised she got she never seemed to back down when she saw something go wrong, and this continued for many years of her life.

This came to an end when an executive from Kaiba corp came around to find someone for Project Crimson. Looking through the prospective kids, he eventually learned of Kiyoko, and intrigued by what he imagined was a strong resolve, decided to take her back with him. Skeptical of him at first, her now handler had managed to convince the girl that by the end of their testing, they would be able to give her the power to stand up for herself and the others she fought for. All she had to do was go along with it, and she'd soon be able to help not only her "siblings" back at the orphanage, but also those across the world of similar circumstance. Thinking it for the best, Kiyoko went along with the experiments and  bared whatever harsh procedures were necessary with iron resolve, working tirelessly with those around her when she could to make sure that everything would come out a success.

Runner-Up

Spoiler

"I... I'm not supposed to be here..."

Name: Leiko Kotodara
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Physical Description:

8CC0UmD.jpg

Leiko is a small young girl standing at 5 foot 2, slight and physically unimposing. Her hair hangs to just below her shoulders, straight, plain, black, with long bangs that sometimes can hide her dark blue eyes. Her skin is pale, even more so than normal with her limited exposure to sunlight in the last few months of experimentation. Her expression is usually quite impassive and hard to read, eyes always seemingly sizing up whatever is around her at the time without giving away what her thoughts are.

Personality:

Leiko is withdrawn, preferring to stay quiet unless she has something to say she finds important. She's used to being quiet, used to fading into the background, to being overshadowed, and being yanked into the focus during her time with Project Crimson has been a severe adjustment period, especially with how far behind schedule she was. She has very little experience talking to people, with her handler Morodate the one she's probably spoken the most with in the last four years. She's a more internal person, a thinker rather than a talker. Naturally curious and adept at figuring things out, Leiko is very intelligent and analytical, usually able to notice details others don't. It's only when she's placed under pressure or can't plan something out that she tends to lose her thread of logic and panic. This comes across largely as freezing up, paralyzed in her decision-making.

Leiko suffers from severe lack of confidence and inability to make decisions. She naturally defers to the authority of anyone around her (often even when she has a perfectly legitimate solution to the given problem) purely because she doesn't trust herself to make choices that are good for anyone. The only place she has any confidence is in a duel, where her logical, quick mind is able to jump several steps ahead, her knowledge on individual cards and effects being very potent as well. Even then she has her moments, particularly when she is pushed into a corner that requires her to summon Warmind Dragon or achieve Clear Mind, both of which she has failed at multiple times, each failure drilling into her and making all the ones before it hurt more and more.

With her recent addition to the Project, Leiko still has a healthy amount of distrust of the people running it. She's been doing her best to nose around, and figure out exactly what's been going on. There's one thing she is very confident in: If Project Crimson is responsible for whatever happened to Houki, she doesn't intend for them to do the same with anyone else.

Biography:

Spoiler

Leiko has always seemed to be in the shadow of her own life. Odds were stacked against her from the very start, when her mother died giving birth to her. Her father would leave son after, driven to grief at the loss of her mother. He left Turbo City before Leiko was even four. The only one who stayed was the one who couldn't leave; Leiko's then-six-years-old sister, Houki. Houki was confident, brash, and ready for anything, even if that meant taking care of her younger sister. She actually took care of Leiko by herself (not very well, she WAS five) for four days before CPS found out about the situation and arranged for the two to be placed in Foster Care.

The two were shuttled between the cities of the Greater Domino area, moving to a new home every couple of years or so, but always together; Houki would protest loudly whenever the idea of the two being split up was even mentioned. She was quite insistent, always saying "Me and Leiko are gonna go through everything together! Isn't that right, sis?" She was the one who guided Leiko through everything, especially how to duel. Though the two moved through multiple different homes across the Greater Domino Area, Houki always preferred the use of Synchro Monsters, and taught her sister the same. Leiko gravitated towards them naturally, to Houki's delight, and she was actually able to improve Houki's use of them, Leiko being better at the more complex math needed to add up to the Synchro Monster you needed at the exact moment. Leiko considered that the only thing she ever was able to teach Houki in return.

Leiko loved her sister, looked up to her and wished she could be like her in many ways. She was especially admiring of how Houki dueled; With great power and swaths of bold creativity, always seeming to find a way to struggle out of scrapes. Houki always insisted that she had managed to defeat the Seto Kaiba AI at the Duel Museum once, to the collective eye-rolling of everyone who knew her. Leiko always believed it, though. Houki was skilled enough that she had multiple people at the various schools they attended ask her if she was going to join the WDMA when she was old enough. Her response: "Nah, not just then... Gotta wait for my sis to help take it down with me, right sis?" Leiko always tended to hide in the corner whenever this was said, only for Houki to drag her back out again, laughing jovially.

It was a very supportive relationship, with Houki always being quick to call out anyone messing with her sister in any way. Which was why Leiko was left devastated when Houki vanished when Leiko was 11. Her foster parents didn't have a clue what had happened to her, but Leiko was the only one to receive any news. Five days after her sister disappeared, Leiko received a letter, which bore her sister's unmistakable handwriting.

Dear Leiko-chan,

I'm sorry I had to go so suddenly; I didn't really have too much of a choice. I'm still trying to adjust to things here, but I wanted to write to you to tell you: Don't worry about me. I know it may seem hard without me there now, but I'm doing alright here, I think. They had a good reason to take me... They think your sis is going to do some pretty big things. I wish I had you here to help me; You could probably understand half the stuff they're talking about. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. All a bunch of mumbo-jumbo to me, but if even half of it's true... Well. I'm not really allowed to go into detail abut THAT.

I'm gonna be gone for a while. I'll be back home as soon as I can... Don't know quite when that is, I've got some... pretty crazy stuff to take care of. I'm sorry I can't be there to watch out for you, Leiko, but I just got a whole bunch more people to look after. Be strong. I know you're scared of being on your own, but you can absolutely do it. I can't wait to see you again; See you be strong like I know you can be.

Love Houki

Knowing at least that her sister was alive, Leiko tried to move forward over the next few years. Much as she tried she couldn't bring herself to rise up to the standards she associated with Houki. Every day after school Leiko went to the Duel Museum, challenging the Seto Kaiba AI. She lost, each and every time. She never came close to defeating it. She just wasn't as confident without her sister at her back. Her visits dwindled, slowed to a trickle, eventually stopped, Leiko looking longingly to the Skyway she could distantly see through her bedroom window at night, where Houki was going to teach her how to ride when she turned 13. Without her sister, and with her withdrawing from the dueling community, Leiko slowly drifted into the background as she was moved to a new foster home in Reffo City. Without her sister, with her so quiet, she felt like she barely existed for nearly four years; Just moving like a ghost through life.

It happened in the middle of the night, Leiko out on a random street Turbo City, underneath the Skyway that filled her with painful memories, wanting to be anywhere but the house that wasn't a home for her, when she was grabbed, the small girl forced into a vehicle and immobilized. She was taken somewhere far away, out of Turbo City, terrified and discombobulated, to a facility where she was placed in a small living space and left there. There were no windows, no doors she could open. Just the basic necessities: a bed, a bathroom, a desk. There was only one thing that was out of place: A D-Wheel she recognized as being Houki's.

She scrambled to the D-Wheel, and saw that there was a card on the Duel Disk inside. It was the ace monster of her sister, a card called Warmind Dragon. Attached was a note in Houki's handwriting, though it was harder to read than usual, shaky, as if her hand had wavered while writing it: Please Leiko-chan. Take this. Be what I couldn't.

The experimentation started the next day. The scientists running them seemed nervous, flighty, unwilling to explain things to Leiko properly. All they would say was that her sister's Mark had been almost ready, and Leiko was the best substitution. They wouldn't answer her questions about where Houki was, only that she was her replacement. The pressure of the situation and having to live up to her sister yet again, now with some strange, much larger scope she didn't understand, wore down on Leiko constantly. The scientists weren't much help either, placing her through multiple painful experiments daily and also into many duels against AI opponents. They had botched another key element too: Leiko did not have her deck on her when she was taken, so a new deck had to be procured. She performed poorly with several decks in a row, breaking down in tears when she realized on one occasion she was playing with Houki's own, and she was completely incapable of bringing herself to summon Warmind Dragon. This last point really seemed to rankle the scientists.

"We don't have enough time," they kept saying to each other, when they didn't think she could hear them. "She'll never be ready, we're gonna be one short." Leiko slowly withdrew further into herself, becoming less responsive. Three months of slow, awkward testing ground by, with very little progress made, as Leiko deteriorated both mentally and physically from the rigor. Leiko spent almost all of the little time she had to herself crying in her room, unable to leave, nobody to talk to. Only Houki's D-Wheel for company.

Keeping it maintained with the little mechanical knowledge she had was all Leiko had to soothe herself. She would spend hours late at night cleaning it obsessively, even when it was spotless, tightening wires and caps that were screwed as tightly as they could be. Nevertheless, it still took three months for her to find the card that was underneath the Duel Disk in it's surface. She looked at the card; It was Risebell the Summoner, her personal favorite card. Houki had always teased her for her favorite card being a Pendulum Monster, but Leiko had found it when they briefly lived in Cradle and taken an immediate liking to it. "It's like you and me, One-sama," she had said at the time. "The Older sister and the younger sister."

"The older one's a guy, Leiko," Houki had said, laughing. "No crummy Pendulum Monster is like what we have, right?" And yet here the card was. Houki had placed it there, she was sure of it.

Leiko placed the card in her pocket, where it's stayed since.

She was given a new deck that day, the one she would keep from that day on. "These ones are very valuable," one of them said to her. "You have no idea the kind of trouble we had to go through to reconstruct Antinomy's deck." That meant nothing to her. What did mean something to her was the drawing, the only bright spot of light she had gotten since she arrived. As she dueled, she held it in her mind, taking refuge in it. Her plays crystallized, regaining some of the strategic edge she once had. She gained advantage, managing to summon multiple Synchro Monsters. And then Leiko lost track of what she was doing. It was only later when she saw the footage of the duel, when she had started to perform a Synchro Summon... On her opponent's turn, before she lost consciousness as a searing red light blazed into her arm.

"I'll be damned," her handler, a stern man with the surname Morodate, said with surprise. "She's capable of Clear Mind... Like Fudo Yusei. Maybe Houki was right after all."

Since then the Tech Genus deck was made Leiko's official deck, the Mark the scientists had been talking about finally taking, albeit awkwardly and painfully, onto Leiko. They focused on two things: Trying to guide Leiko to use Clear Mind once again, and to make her summon Warmind Dragon. They were unsuccessful in both. While Leiko was able to use her Synchro Monsters to summon cards they referred to as "Accel Synchros," she wasn't able to achieve it on an opponent's turn before passing out. As for Warmind, she refused to call it out, unable to look at this reminder of her sister. All that kept her going was the card in her pocket, the card Houki had kept to remember her.

"You have potential, Leiko," Morodate said to her once. "The power of Accel Synchro is something the Project is very much interested in... Especially when fueled by Clear Mind. It's a shame you haven't been able to fully replicate it's effects. Houki always said you could be just as good a duelist as she was. I had my doubts until you took on her Mark, almost achieved Clear Mind. If only you could achieve it again."

Leiko zeroed in on one point of that sentence. "Houki said that? Where... Where is she, Morodate?"

Morodate looked away, clearing his throat. "It's things like this that are holding you back, Leiko," he told her as he left. "The Project cannot advance if you don't. Houki understood that. You're smarter than she was... You should understand it, too, before you meet the other subjects."

Three more months passed, more fruitful than the last. Leiko was able to win more duels, adapting to her new deck, and she even regained enough strength to learn how to ride the D-Wheel. Things were improving steadily, but even Leiko was aware that she wasn't making enough progress. Finally, she was led from her room, outside the building she had called home for the last several months. "You're going to meet some new friends," she was told by Morodate, who seemed nervous. "They've been with Project Crimson longer than you have. They were supposed to meet your sister today, but... Hopefully you will impress."

"What IS Project Crimson?" Leiko asked. Morodate just shook his head, and gestured for her to get in the van. "It's not my place to tell you."

Leiko moved up into the van that was taking her away, sitting beside the D-Wheel she had been given as well. She placed a hand on the vehicle, thinking fervently:

I know they know what happened to you, Houki-chan... But if Project Crimson is to blame... I'm gonna take it all down. I don't know how, but... I'll take it all down to find you.

Deck: T.G. (Tech Genus)

Leiko plays a Tech Genus deck, a deck that specializes in hard and fast Synchro Summoning, while using those Synchro Monsters to attain great value with incredible speed. Leiko has also supplemented her deck with a variety of powerful Trap cards, always wanting to be able to respond to her opponent at a moment's notice. She duels defensively, reactive rather than proactive, a certain timidity to her dueling even with how explosively she can summon a wide variety of monsters at once. Her deck also holds the ability to achieve Accel Synchro is Leiko is able to use Clear Mind, though she has not yet perfected that ability.

Leiko's birthday is September 20th, and her blood type is AB negative.

Her favorite food is ham and swiss sandwiches.

Leiko's original deck used the Psychic-Type extensively with cards that regained her Life Points. Her sister Houki used a Shiranui deck.

Leiko went through four different decks before she settled on her current Tech Genus, including her sister's own.

Leiko was only experimented on for a period of six months, since her DNA is the closest to Houki's and she was the easiest to attach it to without having to start from scratch.

Savior of the World

Name: Shannon Almaz
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Physical Description:

3MeEUz8.png?1

Standing at 5'2", Shannon is a fairly petite girl, with multi-colored hair reaching down to the middle of her back, shimmering with shades of blue, white, and pink that seem to move. She keeps her hair clean, priding herself on her unique look. Her eyes also shine with a similar array of colors, blending together with her pale skin, making her stand out like a sore thumb at night.

She tends to favor dress clothing, making sure she looks as nice as her hair does.

Personality:

Aside from some vanity in regards to maintaining her appearance, Shannon is the hero of her story. And your story. And everyone's story. Between her unique looks and her status as a Signer, she is convinced that she's meant to be the leader of the people, some sort of savior. It's not that she thinks she's above others, as a savior should be of the people, but that it is her duty to lead others and save the proverbial day. She has a particular soft spot for the poor and orphaned, given where she came from.

Eager to take charge or to take THE charge, Shannon will put herself out there for all to see in an instant. It seems she may have a spot of entertainer inside of her, but she doesn't actively realize that it's there, leading it to only show when she's acting as a savior.

The real question is... Does she truly believe she's the savior, or is she simply a chuuni?

Biography:

Shannon was born in Cradle City to... parents she would never meet. Her parents were kids themselves when she was born, so Shannon was on the front steps of a church almost as soon as she was born. The clergy took her in to the orphanage and raised her, but Shannon was never unhappy for it.

No, it would turn out that she would be quite happy there. She saw the clergy and other orphans as family, they lived in an area that was better off than most of the other major cities, so she never went too hungry... and she loved helping out with the services. Paritioners and clergy alike called her an "angel", no doubt in part due to her otherworldly appearance, but also due to her desire to help others out and take care of them. The fact that she was a rising star in choir didn't hurt, either. The young girl enjoyed the praise, even if some of her "siblings" were a bit jealous of how beloved she was. The fact that it went to her head and formed a bit of a complex certainly didn't help the negative emotions brewing, but Shannon was oblivious.

After all, she was the special one, right? Special enough to be called an angel? Maybe even more than that? It wasn't malicious, but a sort of arrogance grew within her, growing into a sort of entitlement. The girl was too comfortable in her settings, and, seeing that, the clergy decided to send her off to a sister church, in hopes of brightening that location... and humbling Shannon.

However, it was a mismatch from the start. The clergy at her new home could hardly stand the pre-teen and her arrogance, unintended though it was. And Shannon was no happier than they were.

Didn't they know she was special? An angel? A star?

But the sister location was not so... upstanding as her home was. After about a month there, Shannon found herself in a car with Kaiba Corp employees. It had happened so fast, the men handed the priests a briefcase... and now she was here. Terrified, Shannon begged for the men to tell her why they were taking her, and why they couldn't take her back.

Because she was a chosen one. At least, that's what she heard when the man told her that she was chosen for some tests.

Chosen one. It echoed in Shannon's mind the entire ride. The fear she initially felt was gone. She was going to miss her family, but maybe she could learn or gain something here to help them. And to punish the wicked ones who would sell her away.

She was no angel. She was a chosen one. THE chosen one.

Deck:

Pendulum and Dragon

The basic idea of the deck is generic pendulums, especially those that would be easy to obtain multiples of, as well as support for those cards. Basic pendulums at the start, Archfiend Eccentrick being the craziest card she has, with some very special Extra Deck bosses as she grows more comfortable with using Pendulums for other methods.

She does not start with Luster Pendulum's upgraded forms, only the single copy of Luster.

The Unwilling Participant

Spoiler

Name: Tora Mori
Gender: Female
Age: 16

Appearance:

Spoiler

k5aVfnL.jpg

Tora stands at 5'6" with a slim build, black hair and dark eyes. Her attire almost always seems to prioritize comfort over anything else when she isn't seen wearing her coveralls. Hoodies, jeans, sneakers, you name it. If it's comfy to wear, she'll probably have it. Tora's hair is always in a state of dishevel and, while typically clean, almost no work is put into actually making it look fashionable or stylish. Tora is never seen wearing make-up, and if there is anything on her face at all, it's usually grease or food. Often both.

Personality:

Spoiler

Tora is a kinda, hard-working individual who prides herself in her work above most anything else. Her world also revolves around mostly two things: duel runners, and turbo dueling. Tora doesn't do her work as a mechanic simply to pay the bills, or because she has to. She does her work as a mechanic because that's her world, her zone, her life-blood. Truth be told, Tora is not the most sociable of individuals. She shys away from groups or large gatherings and has difficulty holding a conversation if it doesn't have to do with the latest fuel injectors or the why someone just won the grand prix and what they did to accomplish it.

This is because Tora is very much about her own comfort zone. She loves her work and she loves what her work has to do with. When she's in her zone, when she's around what she loves or doing what she loves, Tora is a boisterous and energetic individual. However, when she isn't where she is most comfortable, Tora is otherwise very quiet and subdued, preferring to get out of where she is as soon as possible. Even worse, she's quite the fearful individual who often prefers "flight" over "fight". If it wasn't for this, she just might have been out there racing in the tournaments herself.

Biography:

Spoiler

Tora never grew up in a particularly rich family. She grew up, with her older brother Hiroto, raised by their single mother. At a very early age their mother abandoned them and left them at a local orphanage. There they continued to live for many years without adoption, until eventually Hiroto had grown old enough to move out, bringing his sister with him.

Hiroto got a job as a member of a big-shot turbo duelist's pit crew, among a few other part-time side jobs. Money was tight and the work was hard, but it meant that, on a very regular basis Tora was allowed to be brought along and watch these duels up close and personal. It was at this age that her interest in Turbo Dueling was sparked, and both she and her brother paid very close attention to the duels and the races that occurred alongside them. After saving enough, Hiroto managed to purchase his own deck and, from rejected, almost-scrap parts, construct his own duel runner with Tora's help. His deck wasn't particularly strong and his bike not particularly fast, but after enough hard work and training Hiroto managed to get himself signed up as a participant in a small-time tournament with a few close friends and Tora as his pit crew.

Hiroto won that tournament and managed to gain a bit of a name for himself. He went on to have a decent career as a turbo duelist. He wasn't the greatest, and he hadn't garnered a strong enough record yet to earn himself a spot in the Grand Prix, but he slowly gained a good following of fans, and as the wins were tallied up he managed to upgrade his runner with better and better parts. He remained faithful to his deck, however, and earned a bit of a reputation for this. After a couple years, Hiroto had finally earned himself an invitation to the Grand Prix.

This was when disaster had struck. During Hiroto's second match there was an accident. Something had happened with his bike and all of the safeties failed. He was rushed to the hospital, but it had been too late for him. His bike had been totaled, but his deck was returned to Tora. Nothing had been the same for Tora or the pit crew  ever since. To keep the money flowing they had opened a bodyshop, and it was there that Tora was taken care of by the oldest of the pit crew, an elderly gentleman named Yamada.

At the age of 13 was when Tora had been taken into Project Crimson under the guise of a prestigious program. Yamada, as her acting guardian, signed her up without a second thought, hoping to give her a chance at a better future. It was there that Tora was experimented on, and it wasn't long until she had earned her mark...

Dueling Information:

Spoiler

Deck: Tora plays with her brother's old Formula Athlete deck. Here she utilizes the high-speed action of the F.A. racers to take control of the duel through the use of clever plays and turbo-charged tactics. Smart plays that can shut the opponent down, of course, if she really knew what she was doing with the deck...

Duel Dragon: Mach Accel Dragon

Other Customs: F.A. Shining Star GT Retrain

Misc. Information:

Spoiler
  • Duel Theme
  • Tora loves salty junk food
  • Tora is in ownership of several vintage Yusei Fudo and Team 5D's posters
  • She also has a Yusei Fudo figurine on her desk

The Rain Hides Your Tears

Spoiler

Name: Hotaru Hisakawa
Gender: Female
Age: 17

Appearance

Spoiler

Image

A rather tall, at 5'10", but thin, girl. Rather waif-like it's clear she's skinnier than she should be. Her skin is pale and rarely shows color. even when embarrassed. Her hair is shoulder-length, with bangs that entirely cover her eyes if she doesn't keep brushing them aside, and has a tendency to stay wet for long periods of time. Her dark blue eyes tend to glaze over often which gives her a lost-in-thought look.

She dresses rather simply in whatever she can find but it's usually dresses more than anything else.

Personality

Spoiler

A rather languid and mopey girl. She doesn't seem to have much motivation to do much and is prone to falling into despair at every setback. Though in an odd way she has almost accepted that was how things are. She doesn't get upset anymore at negativity. Instead she accepts it with a cynical outlook. Things are bad and they are going to be bad so she just has to deal with that as it goes.

She doesn't have much hope or desire personally. She knows she has to keep going for...some reason. She's not entirely sure why she doesn't just give up but she assumes it's because there's nothing much else for her to do.

There's a sarcastic edge to her that comes out now and then but she usually mumbles and doesn't like to speak up to other people. In fact she is incredibly uncomfortable making herself noticed which leads her to dislike her height, which makes her stand out in a group more often than not, and usually attempts to shy away from wherever the most people are located. If you do get her to talk it's usually talking to the floor, or from behind her hair, and if asked to repeat herself she tends to respond with "Nothing, never mind." instead of repeating herself.

Biography

Spoiler

Orphaned at a young age, her parents dying in a car accident on a rainy night, she lived in an orphanage from the age 6. A shy, but polite, girl she usually wouldn't have much trouble being adopted. However there was one thing that set her apart from the others and drew people away from her. She had Psychic abilities. Something that most prospective parents were too leery of to want to try and deal with.

However one day, at age 10, she was adopted by a rich couple from Taccon City. They were a rather eccentric and status-obsessed pair who thought it would be "quaint" to have a Psychic child. And that it would show them to be "generous" and "charitable". However after a couple years they got tired of this and, when more of their rich friends began to have their misgivings about the child, they decided to give her up.

Which led her to being part of a rather unusual experiment. Project Crimson.

"...one day...I'll be free...until then, however..."

Personal Information

Name: Jet Hoshimi (Lit. Hoshimi Jet 星美ジェト)

Age: 17
Gender: Male

Physical Description:

Spoiler

JGtMmza.jpg

Height: 5'9"

Weight: 130 lbs

Above is Jet's normal appearance, complete with his messy light brown hair and deep emerald green eyes. He wears a short-sleeved faded dark green jean jacket with a black tank-top underneath, as he wears a pair of faded black jeans with a pair of white shoes. On his right forearm, the Signer Mark can be seen, though he usually tries his best to hide it with either medical wraps/tape or even cover-up at times. For his Dueling equipment, Jet has in his possession a Duel Disk that has been customized with a pure white paint job along with his Duel Runner.

Personality:

Spoiler

Before he was thrown into KaibaCorp, Jet had some inklings of being kind, though it was fleeting. It was only replaced by a survivalist attitude and being able to look out only for himself. Because of this, Jet was a extremely callous towards others. He's not an outgoing individual, normally keeping to himself the best he can, as he doesn't feel like getting into confrontation if things go wrong...and most usually they do. At the end of the day, although begrudgingly, he does what he's told and follows orders. Though deep down, he harbors a strong hatred towards the Kaiba name and all they hold, as he takes them as the one who selected him to be stuck in this hell hole.

Since his time with KaibaCorp as a guinea pig in this little experiment, Jet hasn't been able to sleep all that well and his internal clock has been messed up in the process. Therefore, he has a been diagnosed with narcolepsy by the medical staff, though he just feels incredibly exhausted. He seems to be very shaky with his right arm, but that reason is namely due to the sheer excruciating pain that comes from the mark that they put on his arm and only when he summons Stardust Spark Dragon. Because of the pain that his arm pulsates every time he summons that Synchro, he is adamant about not playing that card in a Duel. Unfortunately, there are moments where he has no choice or is forced, and when it comes, it's a wonder he'd be even standing at all.

Biography:

Spoiler

"Oh? You were hoping for a happy go lucky history...then you were sadly mistaken."

Jet Hoshimi was born in Turbo City. To reasons never truly told to him, Jet's parents abandoned him and left him at the local orphanage. And with the newer staff being a few levels under the kindness meter, Jet was thrust into situations in where he had to learn to survive and look out for himself. It was an attitude and personality he truly hated to go through, but as the years of his childhood slowly passed, it became almost second nature to him. The only way he was able to keep going, was his Duel Monsters deck of Crystrons, the only real family he had. He could see the Duel Spirits of the gem creatures and when he could, he enjoyed their company, especially the company of Rion. But even with them close to him, despair only rooted deeply into the child's heart, thinking that this was all he was ever going to know. Before he knew it, the Crystron monsters, their Duel Spirits began to fade from his side. However, a ray of hope shimmered through the darkness with outstretched arms.

When Jet turned thirteen, some people from KaibaCorp came to the orphanage to find a few children. Their reason wasn't mentioned, but this threw the kids into a frenzy, as they hoped to escape the hell-hole of an orphanage. However, their eyes fell upon the Hoshimi child. It could be that they saw something within the child that they others didn't...or maybe it was something else. Whatever the reason, they came to him, extending their hand for an escape. "Come with us...and you can leave this life behind for a much better one", was the promise and it was on that promise Jet accepted to eagerly. It is this promise...that Jet wishes he could've rejected.

When Jet left the orphanage, he was sent to the Turbo City branch of KaibaCorp...and what he thought was going to be a great life...he found was not. He was strictly sent to a lab where these KaibaCorp scientists began to run countless tests on the boy. He never knew why they did this, but one phrase kept going around in the labs: Project Crimson. He had asked what this was, but was only told that it was a funded project that the previous CEOs of KaibaCorp set in place, no other information was given to him. After all these tests, which also involved giving Jet a strange looking mark on his right arm, he was handed him a Synchro monster and told him to use it in his duels. Jet was hesitant on using the card, but he did so regardless. A flawless summon of the monster Stardust Spark Dragon...however once the dragon hit the field, Jet doubled over in excruciating pain coming from his right arm. He asked many times what this was, but no one gave him a direct answer, but he found out that it only occurred when he summoned Stardust Spark Dragon.

Years continued to pass and the tests and experiments continued on, and young Jet was finally at his breaking point. Jet attempted to escape, but was only detained before being told that the promise he agreed to so many years prior meant that he belonged to them until his usefulness ended. Jet tried to argue, but was only met with KaibaCorp per-verbally spitting in his face at his attempts. Because of this, Jet has just obeyed the orders he was given like a good soldier, if only to survive and not have KaibaCorp dispose of him.

Spoiler

Wind Beneath the Wings of Dragons

When Jet got into the Turbo City Branch, the scientists gave him a new deck to use: Dragunity. This replaced his old Crystron deck, which made it all but a memento of his past and his old Duel Spirit friends.

This deck allows Jet to have swift and quick Synchro Summons during a Duel. While some may go straight for a total field control aspect of a Duel, Jet's Dragunity deck deals with getting out his strong Synchros out and controlling the field in this aspect and to hit hard with everything he has. Not only this, but utilizing the equipping of his Dragunity Tuners in order to gain effects or even Special Summon them in order to perform a quick Synchro.

While he has no specific ace cards, he does take a liking to Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana. However...there is another card he uses often, but against his own will. If anything, he prefers not to have to use Stardust Spark Dragon, due to the experiments done.

Misc. Information

Jet's Theme | Duel Theme (Alternate) | Summoning Ace

  • His name: "Jet Hoshimi" are points to certain aspects of his character. Jet is an English name for a black gemstone, a point towards his workings with Crystrons, who are comprised of jewels and gems themselves. Hoshimi is a Japanese name meaning "Starlight", which is a point towards Stardust Spark Dragon being his ace.
  • Jet's name also could work with the Japanese name for Stardust Spark Dragon: Flaring Jeweled Dragon - Stardust.
  • When he summons Stardust Spark Dragon (which he tries his best not to), his summoning chant also points to how much he wishes to be out of KaibaCorp: "Your star lights up the escape route for me! Spread your wings and take flight! Synchro Summon!! Liberate me from this hell! STARDUST SPARK DRAGON!!"
  • Even though the Duel Spirits he had and played with are no longer around him, Jet still cherishes his Crystron deck, having these cards being more of a keepsake to remind him of them and the fun they used to have.
  • Jet Hoshimi originally came from the YGO RP: Яeverse of the Earthbound Immortals hosted by Final Fan/Tsumugi Shiranui, in which he was a part of a select few that were known around Yliaster as "Brand Signers", Duelists who in a sense have artificial Signer Dragons in the forms of the Duel Dragons from the 5Ds manga. However, things have been changed for Jet here, but some of the original ideas still remain.

Pitch Black Soul
Spoiler

jmAWxFr.jpg?1

"OUT OF MY WAY!"

Name: Nathan "Nate" Campbell

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Spoiler

BRCbBkd.jpg

Height: 1.86m/6'1ft

Weight: 75Kg/165lb

That's Nathan. He always wears black and white clothes. His favourite match is a leather jacket with underneath a long-sleeved white shirt, black jeans and black (or sometimes gray) boots. He never really tries to cover his mark because of where it's located, but, surprisingly, no one never noticed it. His dueling equipment is comprised of a red and black Duel Gazer for outside duels and a black dueling disk that resembles a Pteranodon's wing.

Personality:

Spoiler

Nathan is the most unhinged and angry guy in the whole universe, and hates every corner of it. He knows that people can't stand him and doesn't care enough to fix that; from the outside you could almost say that he likes being a total douchebag. In reality he does this because he thinks that anyone who gets close enough eventually dies, as destiny has proven to him many times.

All the stuff that happened to him in his life prior to the experiments gave him a pretty cinic and nihilist outlook on life and, thanks to this, he developed a self-distructive behaviour: he doesn't care about risks, he's all about overcoming the challenge, even if it would mean him dying. Then the experiments came in and turned things for the worst.

While being an unstable ball of hate anger, Nate has a moral code: never hurting anyone who doesn't deserve it. Also, all this "Signer Shenanigans" gave him a bit of hope for the renewal and redemption of Hearthome.

Biography:

Spoiler

Nathan was born in Hearthome from two normal people that abbandoned him. He can't definetly remember the names or faces of his parents, nor knows or wants to know if they're alive. He was raised by a group of "outcasts" living in the underground of the city since the age of 4 and grew up caring for himself and no one else.

After some time, a local gang raided the "shelter" that he and his friends lived in because one of them had stolen some food from one of their warehouses to give it to the others that lived there; no one survived, other than him of course. Years went by and he grew up hating the society that he lived in and the outer government that didn't make anything to fix the situation. When he then reached the age of 13-ish years, he started to notice strange people following him around the districts he roamed in search for something to eat or some cards for his deck. A couple months after the first guy appeared, three guys in a black suit appeared out of nowhere: they said they were from Domino City and they were there to take him to a better place.

"A better place, huh"

Right after that, they grabbed him and took him to their car without asking him or saying anything else to him and brought him to their lab. Next thing he remembers he woke up in Satellite surrounded by scientists and with a mark that looked like a dragon's hand on his right hand's palm.

Deck:

Spoiler

Evol

Nate uses a pure Evoltile/saur/zar deck and he's able to just swarm the field with big bad Dinosaurs/Dragons in no time. He also plays some rank 4 through 6 Xyz monsters to just stomp people with an enormous board.

Duel Dragon: Evolzar Solda

Miscellaneous:

Spoiler

ThemeDuel Theme | Duel Dragon Theme

- He can see all three of the Evolzar dragons' duel spirits; they act as the rappresentation of his instinct (Dolkka), self-control (Laggia) and rational thinking (Solda).

- He enjoys classical and (you would have never guessed) metal music. He uses one to keep himself at bay and the other to just get on and fight.

- He likes Classical and Neoclassical art and sculpture

The Masked Stranger

Spoiler

Name: Hypatia Dex
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance:

Spoiler

masquerade_by_snellsnail_d6ysosn-fullvie

Hypatia stands at 6'2'' and has an androgynous appearance. She is often mistaken for a man because of this, although she doesn't mind. She has extremely pale skin and hair and typically wears overly formal suits. She collects various masquerade masks that she wears when she thinks she can get away with it. She likes to accent herself with plenty of rings, chains, and earrings in silver colors that tread the balance between tasteful and gaudy.

Personality:

Spoiler

Although she's lost her memories, Hypatia is something of a bleeding heart. She can't help but care about the suffering of other people and is extremely good at putting herself in others shoes. Because of this, she tries to see the good in everyone and has a hard time believing that people are truly evil until she's seen it for herself. But once she has seen it, she can become quite vindictive, and nothing will stop her in her pursuit of justice. She can act rashly in these situations, but otherwise she errs on the side of caution, preferring to learn all that she can before taking action.

Hypatia has a flair for the dramatic and a melodramatic personality. Combined with her eccentric style of dress, her demeanor can make it hard for people to take her seriously. She often gets past this with her ability to act and influence others. She performs well in tense situations, and is good at changing the flow of an encounter to suit her needs. More than anything she uses these talents to make sure the people around her don't get hurt and can be an excellent actor and liar to this end.

Biography:

Spoiler

Hypatia can't remember anything before the experiments. Her childhood and where she came from is a mystery even to her, a fact that she can't help but wonder about. Occasionally a memory will come back to her, but they often leave just as quickly. She does often have flashbacks to the experiments, however, and she can still remember the cruel smiles of those who took her memories in exchange for her mark.

Deck:

Spoiler

The Masquerade Ball

Hypatia uses a "Masquerade" deck, focused on changing the names of it's cards to summon fusion monsters that couldn't normally be summoned. She's had these cards for as long as she can remember, which, admittedly, isn't that long.

The deck's strategy is a mix of denying cards with certain names and summoning it's 3 fusion monsters, Masquerade Black, Grey, and White. Her boss monster is her duel dragon Void Ogre Dragon.

THUNDER

Spoiler

0opcgzr.png
"Let's get this over with..."

Name: Raijin Hanazawa
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Physical Description

Spoiler

KiPQqKZ.png
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 157 lb
Raijin looks more or less like the picture above, usually sporting his iconic green jacket and a pair of black and ripped jeans. His black shirt is plain and short sleeved, although he will occasionally wear white shirt. Unlike in the picture, Raijin does not have that gold thing on his hair, although he usually does tend to have his hair in a ponytail as shown. Sometimes, however, he will have his hair undone, leaving him with very long blue hair that goes over both of his shoulders.

Personality

Spoiler

Raijin is, above all else, a slacker. He would prefer to spend most of his time laying on a nice meadow and stare at some clouds, thinking about random thoughts, or possibly just sleeping in a nice bed. Of course, life is not so simple, especially for someone like Raijin. This does not mean that he is not cooperative, just that he is begrudgingly so. He will try and get any tasks done as quickly as possible, which has made him oddly efficient when working on any given task. That doesn't necessarily mean that he will get the best outcome, just that he will get it done as quickly as possible with results that are probably acceptable.

Raijin is brutally honest, not really putting much thought in what he says to people. This tends to make him come off as rude, which isn't completely wrong although not his intention. Not that he really cares about what other people think about him; if anything this outcome is better for him since it means people won't ask him to do stuff or bug him about some other pointless crap.

Biography

Spoiler

Raijin used to be part of a rather luxurious family living in Taccon City, although that didn't last too long. At the age of 12, his parents were both killed in a large fire that had engulfed a theater. It wasn't long after that event when Raijin moved into the local orphanage, where he had a less than enjoyable time. See, Raijin didn't duel all that much - not just because of his laziness but also because the main summoning mechanic he used was Xyz. The few times he did duel he avoided using his Extra Deck as much as possible, preferring to go into what little Synchro Monsters he had. However, it was near impossible to keep his secret from everyone, and the few that learned treated him like dirt. To add salt to his injuries, somehow whenever he was right about to be adopted, his potential adoptee would somehow find out about his Extra Deck and almost immediately reject him He was essentially forced to deal with the burning resentment he felt from the people around him, eventually learning to tune them out.

One day, however, an old man with a suit as silver as his hair came into the orphanage with a suit case. Even for Taccon City standards, this man looked fairly wealthy, and rather mysterious. Something was off about this man; he didn't seem like the kind that wanted to adopt a kid for himself at all. Raijin figured he had a wife that wanted to adopt a kid, an assumption that was confirmed when he overheard the man talk with one of the workers. He also overheard the help desk worker be floored by what sounded like the suit case slamming onto the table and opening - whatever was in there was impressive. Raijin figured this was going to be like every other adoption. He was wrong.

As usual, the other kids got to be seen first, the man's expression staying as stone cold as it had been when he walked into the building. When it was Raijin's turn, everything was going as expected. The old man asked him questions, Raijin answered, and the old man's expression did not change. Eventually, the old man asked a question Raijin dreaded - he wanted to see his cards. Raijin knew exactly what was going to happen and, begrudgingly, gave the old man his cards. Raijin waited for the man to react with disgust and reject him on the spot. However, instead something else happened - the man's eyes seemed to light up a bit as his lips curled into a faint grin.

Later that day, he was informed that not only had he been adopted by the old man, but he was going with him on that day. Raijin was ecstatic, finally being able to leave his personal hell.

He now wishes he had stayed back at the orphanage.

Deck

Spoiler

Rank 4 Thunder Control

The closest thing Raijin's deck has to an archetype is the hunder line of monsters. However, the general gist of his deck is a more controlling Thunder deck that makes Rank 4 monsters and uses generically good Thunder monsters like Thunder Sea Horse and Denko Sekka. His deck is light on Trap cards, although he still has some. He also has exactly 2 Synchro Monsters in his extra deck - Crimson Blader and Avenging Knight Parshath, although he rarely uses them.

Customs

Spoiler

9jkUyPm.png

If only your opponent controls a monster while you have no Set Spells/Traps and you have not activated a Spell/Trap this turn, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). While you have no Set Spells/Traps: Each player may only activate 1 Spell/Trap card per turn. If this card is sent to the GY: You can destroy 1 Spell/Trap card on the field

lxHaEmy.png

When this card is Summoned: You can add 1 "Makiu, the Magical Mist" from your Deck or GY to your hand. You can double the ATK of this monster once per turn. If you used this effect, your opponent takes no battle damage this turn, also destroy this card during the End Phase.

8gpuDBb.png

When you Normal Summon a Level 4 LIGHT Thunder monster: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. Cannot be used as Synchro Material except for a Thunder Synchro Monster. A LIGHT Xyz Monster that was Summoned using this card as Xyz Material gain this effect during your End Phase.
• Once per turn, you can target 1 Level 4 Thunder monster from your GY: Attach it to this card as Xyz Material. If this face-up card would be destroyed, you can detach 2 Xyz Material from this card instead.

And now it's time for Host reviews, the part of the show where a subpar host reviews your shit! Oh, and, Yui and Skaia add their scores in to.

Yui

Spoiler

Yours is pretty good. I have no complaints.
Saiku: 8/10

Skaia

Spoiler

Your app is A+ material, and your character is pretty good to. No complaints.
Saiku: 8/10

Leiko

Spoiler

Saiku: I personally like this app. I think it's good. I do see though that a lot of people suddenly brought out their A game to this rp, but I still really like Leiko. I'm not sure if that's because of Skybound though.  7/10

Yui: 5/10. It's not a bad app - it's totally fine actually - but everyone else seems to have spontaneously busted out their A-game and you sort of lagged behind. Still a good app though.

Shannon

Spoiler

Saiku: Hands down favorite app. Good job Black. 10/10

Yui: 10/10 My favorite app overall. Exemplary work! Her appearance is rather odd, but you not only pointed that out, but made it a key point of her personality and bio.

Tora

Spoiler

Saiku: I like this app. I was afraid it would just be a rehash of Skybound, but you made her different enough that I like her. 8/10

Yui:  7/10. This is a nice change of pace from the typical action girl type of character that you often create with your girls. Sai seems to be a big fan of your bio too, and while I'm not particularly nutty about it, Tora brings some stuff to the table that nobody else can.

Hotaru

Spoiler

Saiku: I really like her. Her lack of motivation however, kinda concerns me, but I trust you as an RPer Cowcow. Also Dragonecro in a funny hat. 7/10

Yui: 7/10 I've never been big on the more mopey types, but Hotaru seems pretty good overall despite that. Is one of the few biographies where she was actually an orphan when taken into the project, so you get bonus points for that. Also, I just really like the idea of a goofy Dragonecro.

Jet

Spoiler

Saiku: Jesus Christ Chaos, where did this come from? I came in expecting the usual Chaos character, which isn't a bad thing, but good lord. This is really good. We gotta point out this app shocked all three of us, and had effectively derailed our conversation for 30 minutes. 10/10

Yui: 10/10  I'm surprised! There was a lot more heart and effort put into this app, and it really shows! Definitely somebody I'm looking forward to seeing in the RP.

Nate

Spoiler

Saiku: We're not gonna score this because it's a WIP. However, I will review the personality, and buddy, I'm sorry to say it's a mess. I can kinda see what you're going for, a bit of an asshole that does care for people that get close to him, but it's not... written concisely. "He likes to wreck things, but he follows the law not to get in trouble". Like, I understand, but doesn't sound good, you know? You'll want to sit down and figure out the personality a bit more. Also, Evilswarm is not fun to play against in an RP setting. Either you can't it right, or no one else can play. Improve/10

Yui: WIP/10. Sai just about covered what I wanted to say, but in a more polite manner. Evilswarm (and Steelswarm too for that matter) are supremely anti-fun decks, which is bad for an RP, and your dragon doesn't even have to be rank 8 with the weird clause. It could just be "x Level 4 "Evilswarm" monsters" like all the other Evilswarm xyz. Will need to see a biography before I can say much of anything Sai hasn't said, but a heel or two wouldn't hurt to have around.

Hypatia

Spoiler

Saiku: I like your character and her concept. I like over-dramatic characters, they're fun. I have a few issues with your duel dragon, but I don't think it's anything we can't work out. 6/10

Yui: 4/10. I like her melodramatic demeanor and theatrical flair, but the stuff about how she can predict people gives me flashbacks to a certain RP character from the past who became a legend for how universally he was hated. The archetype is also wonky but that's life. Has the potential to gain the most points with me, but currently at the bottom of my personal list. Also, we need to talk to you about your Duel Dragon.

Raijin

Spoiler

Saiku: Okay, so I just wanna start out with saying my god, I wasn't imagining the Xyz hate to be that strong, but since you done it, I love it, and I kinda wanna go more extreme, like nuns trying to exorcise the Xyz from a deck. The character is good to. 8/10

Yui: 8/10. The personality and bio are both good, but don't really mesh together that well from where I'm sitting. Maybe I'm just crazy. You're one of the two apps that used an xyz for your Duel Dragon though, which is nice. I'd call this worth the wait overall, though it can still be a bit better.

Francis

Spoiler

WIP. Also, playing Rex Goodwin.dek is a bad idea. Duel dragons should be as generic as possible and sadly Dragonmon Sun and Moon are not. Sorry man.

Box of Surprises

Spoiler

Name: Octavia Morgan Hayes
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Physical Description:

Spoiler

GBpQLEO.jpg

Height: 5’1
Weight: 110 lbs

Octavia is, by all standards, a rather plain girl. With very little in the way of special looks, she stands at slightly below-average height and wears clothing that isn’t particularly flashy to avoid too much attention being put on her at any given time. More often than not, she’s wearing clothes that could almost be considered masculine, and would almost never be caught dead in anything like a skirt, even one that was comparable in length to her shorts.

Her hair is easily the most feminine quality of her appearance, always being tied up behind her to avoid having it fall in her face or anything of that nature. While she does keep it long, she generally doesn’t style it in a way that makes it look particularly feminine, instead opting for functional in the form of keeping it tied up.

Personality:

Spoiler

At first glance, Octavia appears to be nothing more than a quiet girl who moves about her day to day life with little to say, but when given the opportunity to interact with people in a safe environment, she’s surprisingly eager to socialize. After spending her childhood in the presence of a gang that she couldn’t really relate to, and followed that up with being experimented on with only a handler to really talk to, she seemed more withdrawn than she actually is.

When given the chance to interact with people, she’s more than eager to do so. Often times she would interact with homeless children back in Hearthome, but aside from that, she never had much of a chance to get to know people who were closer to her age, and sometimes she can miss on subtle cues that they might not exactly want her around at the moment. Even when people respond negatively, she doesn’t exactly cower unless a person gets explicitly violent thanks to the fact that the streets of Hearthome were already a dangerous enough place to teach her basic survival skills.

When she’s hoping to be a little less noticeable, it’s fairly common that she’ll introduce herself by her middle name instead of her first name. Using her appearance and the name of Morgan, it can be easy for her to slide underneath people’s radar to get better deals and information that she might want, though she generally only used this when she was negotiating for cards back in Hearthome. For the most part, she tries to be open with people, despite the fact that would have gotten her in a lot of trouble in the past.

Biography:

Spoiler

Born to a well off family in the Xyz city of Hearthome, Octavia had a fairly privileged upbringing at first. Her father had a position that made it very… Easy for him to snag cards that he was interested in, and her mother was well known among the city has a rising politician that had the potential to gain the title of mayor in the future. The two were considered a fairly powerful couple, but they didn’t let details of their private lives escape much, so the fact that the duo had a small child was only known briefly… Thanks to the fact that her mother was unable to hide the pregnancy. But once Octavia was born, she was shielded from the general public by her parents employing a full time caretaker, along with planning to hire tutors once she was old enough to be taught.

While she began her education at the age of five… A particularly tragic event occured, the massive protest in the Hearthome caused a massive instability in her father’s work, leaving her family without a solid source of income now that the local government was in a position that her mother couldn’t work in. The family lost access to their home and had to relocated in the middle of the growing riots, but they weren’t able to leave the city with the growing anger of the crowds. During this time, the criminal underworld of Hearthome had grown emboldened thanks to the growing unease, and different gangs had begun to spread their influence before the conflict could calm down in hopes of expanding. Unfortunately, during the riots, her mother was caught in the crossfire and injured badly, being put into intensive care at a nearby hospital, but with the ongoing chaos, the hospital suffered many attacks which ultimately caused her to pass away. Thanks to being so young at the time, Octavia doesn’t have a strong memory of her mother, and only vaguely recalls the earliest years of her life.

During the chaos of the following month, her father was approached by a growing gang, who offered him protection in exchange for access to some of the cards that he had gathered during his career. While he was hesitant, he ultimately didn’t see a better way to provide for his young child and accepted the deal. The duo were pulled away from the danger of the city to a safer haven, where he acted as a consultant to the gang leader and helped them form decks that could keep them competitive in the madness of the riots. Meanwhile, Octavia was given training among a few of the gang’s members who felt that having her able to duel when she got older could be beneficial to them. She wasn’t considered much, but with her father so often occupied, he wasn’t around to stop them from their attempts to teach her the game with a more… Aggressive edge. Sadly for the gang members, she had taken liking to a deck that wouldn’t exactly inspire fear in her enemies.

A few years passed with Octavia learning to play from a few of the ‘nicer’ gang members, while her father would run missions to increase their collection and attack rival gangs. After she turned 9, her father suffered a loss and was taken hostage by a rival guild who were growing in strength, and when the attempt to negotiate for his return soured, they made an example of him and he was killed. She stayed with the gang that they had joined after that, having nowhere else to go, and continued to learn in return for occasionally running missions undercover. Because she was never really leaving the gang’s locations, most people weren’t even aware she was a part of it, and she had free reign to travel as long as she didn’t stand out. She took advantage of this to make deals by trading cards, doing her best to always trade up using things she had learned from eavesdropping on her father. She became known among the gang as a potential asset, once she grew older. And she was, she became known for her proactive style of chasing after cards, and where her father left off, she quickly picked up the slack as she started going out on her own to the Pit to try and make trades with cards she didn’t use herself.

Once she turned 13, she was approached while in the pit, after conducting a deal for some cards she had been wanting for herself. A duo had cut her off from the exit and said they had cards that she might be interested in, and that if she would come with them, they would be happy to negotiate a deal. She walked with them out of the pit and to an abandoned building that had been ransacked ages ago, and they revealed that the gang that she was with had been coerced into handing her over, as there were rumors of a child who was getting more adept at smooth talking people out of their cards. They offered her a secure ‘home’, along with a few cards that she had been looking for in exchange for coming with them, and with the city in the state that it was, she decided to cooperate, leaving Hearthome to go with them. It might not have been her greatest deal, but it couldn't be much worse than the gang life. She spent roughly two years undergoing experiments, with only minimal socialization with her Handler as she was considered to be 'behind schedule'...

Deck:

Spoiler

Octavia uses, in all of her infinite wisdom, a deck based around the card Box of Friends. It was one of the first cards she was able to collect multiple copies of after the riots in Hearthome, and it symbolized stability to her as she grew older. As a result, her deck has a decent chunk of theming around using Normal Monsters through Box of Friends to Xyz Summon…

Except for the part where she focused mainly on cute monsters. While she gives her Extra Deck a little bit of leeway in this and opts for both power cards and utility, her Main Deck is practically composed of only monsters that are considered ‘cute’ by her tastes, which means a lot of her duels are more like she’s trying to show off.

However, there was a criminal lack of Cute Normal Monsters to play with Box of Friends, so I was, uh, kinda required to make some myself to go with this idea. Considering they’re all normal monsters, I don’t imagine that this would be a big problem, but if it is I'm only planning on a small selection at the moment.

3 Level 3 Monsters
Once per turn, you can Xyz Summon "Duke Seathe" by using 1 Rank 4 monster you control with no Xyz Material as material. (Quick Effect): You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; apply 1 of these effects (but you cannot apply that same effect of “Duke Seathe” again this turn).
● Shuffle 3 cards from your GY into the Deck, including a Normal Monster, then you can Special Summon 1 "Box of Friends" from your hand or Deck.
● Monsters cannot be destroyed by battle this turn, also the next time a monster you control battles, its ATK and DEF are doubled until the end of the damage step.

Duke... Might be a bit much? It's anime as fuck so I figured it might work, but if it's too much, I'll make changes to it and tone it down.

She's fully aware of the bias against Xyz Monsters some people hold, but despite that she enjoys the Box of Friends too much to shift over to another idea. Whether it's a result of her being too stubborn to change or just a style that she likes isn't entirely clear.

A side idea for the character was to have her swap out Normal Monsters fairly regularly, it wouldn't change the deck, it would just basically be an appearance thing, but there weren't nearly enough Normal Types that synergized with Box of Friends to make that feasible.

Not entirely done. Have a few Misc Things to add, along with finishing touches on some things, but the base is done.

Faytl

Spoiler

Saiku: I liked it before, and making her an orphan makes her much better. I like the angle of her being untrusting and actually curious on what's going on. Overall, much better.

ArgosPanoptes

Spoiler

Saiku: I... well, it's definite improvement, I applaud you for that. However... it's still not up to snuff compared to everyone else. I like the Dino deck, that's a much better choice. The real issue is here, is that the personality you've chosen is not very good for RP. If this was a fanfic, it would work out well, but instead of one author, we have like, 10. It doesn't really work.

You bent over backwards for us, and it works. She's much more usable now. Good job.

Well, you are the best new app we have (not to mention only one) and dammit, this is good. Very good. Like, 9-10/10. No complaints. Good job.

After the IC

Spoiler

Okay, so, the new deadline is August 18th, which is a Sunday. Three rounds until the night falls.

Also @Fearen, I'm not sure what's up. I hope everything is okay, but for now, I've put your character off to the side, but it'll be easy for her to come back if you return.

Blake asked me to look into joining, so, uhm, here ya go! Hopefully I included enough detail and stuff, but I can edit as needed! ❤️

Name: Ryuji Sanada
Gender: Male
Age: 17

Spoiler
Spoiler

Physical Description:

danganronpa-2-goodbye-despair-gender-ben

Height: 5'6"

Weight: 108 lbs.

Ryuji is probably what most people would describe as a bit of an eccentric. His clothing choice tends to fall towards exceedingly flashy, wearing things like necklaces, bracelets, eyeliner, or anything that would draw attention to him. He almost looks like he's trying to be the first one spotted in a crowd of people, wearing vibrant pink contacts along with his rather clashing outfit. If he thinks something will make him stand out, you'll usually find him wearing it!

His hair is likely the first thing you'd spot on him once you saw him though. Vibrant pinks, blacks, blues, and whites all layer themselves together in such a chaotic pattern that it almost looks like he's doing it on purpose.

Spoiler

Personality:

Ryuji tends to be incredibly open-minded, not giving a care in the world what others thought of him. If someone said he looked girly, he might go right along with them. He also tends to be caring, trying to watch others to make sure they weren't hurting. He loves talking to people, always loving to discover new personalities and types of people thanks to his more eccentric personality.

Thanks to his time in his hometown of Turbo City, Ryuji has also adapted a bit to being a bit of a show-off. Due to this nature, he's been seen roaming the streets of Cradle to watch the stunning pendulum Action Duels, even going so far as to practice poses in secret to get them down right. Cradle seems to have also caused him to adopt even more of a 'Showman' personality, especially when he watches the more entertaining Heels of Action Dueling, and having a deep respect for those who can play the villain for the crowd. In fact, he even collects copies of some of his favorite entertainer's cards!

As well, he has a bit of a verbal tic where he might say things twice...

Spoiler

Biography:

Ryuji's father had been rather sick before he'd been born, apparently passing barely 2 years after his birth. His mother had been heartbroken, often becoming unresponsive or sad whenever she looked at Ryuji. He was well cared for during that time, though whenever his mom looked at him, he felt like she was looking through him instead. He started to become distant, one day his mother telling him the reason... She had been planning to have twins. He couldn't blame her for the way she looked at him anymore, taking to avoiding the house.

While living in Turbo City, Ryuji was always looking for a tourist to ask questions about recent matches they'd seen. Sometimes he'd get scoffed at and the tourist would walk away, though others would start to reminisce about the match in great detail, especially the ones that dressed flashy! Seeing the ones who were flashier tended towards being good at telling stories for things he couldn't always get to see, he started to dress in a similar fashion. It even had the side effect of making his mother happier to see him! If only it had lasted longer... Around when Ryuji had been 5, she passed away as well, leaving him to wander the streets.

One day,  a man started asking him questions instead. What duels had he seen recently? When he admitted that he actually hadn't ever seen a duel, he was given an invitation to Cradle with the man to view a tournament. His eyes shown bright as he watched the Duelists able to athletically leap around, voices booming through the crowds as he felt waves of anticipation with each turn ending before the opponent. The Heels were always his favorite to watch. He could tell they weren't really bad, nobody with that big of a smile could be! At this point, after the tournament he was asked if he wanted to be a Duelist.

It was a few months later, had to be while he was 13. He was learning a Duel Style that was a mix of Action Dueling and Turbo Dueling. Personally he preferred to call his style Session Style Dueling, practicing all sorts of jumps to Action Platforms in Solid Vision using a regular bike at first before he started to figure out cards. He slowly started to challenge himself more on different action fields, finding out his preferred Action Field to be Action Field: Neon City due to its bright lights and difficult tricks for Action Cards.

A few months after he was finally getting himself on his feet with his dueling, the man who had asked him if he wanted to be a Duelist approached him. He said that he'd come along well, and at this point he was sent off to a few scientists. He didn't really mind so long as he could still practice his unique style of dueling, and even then the nicer old man had become his 'Handler' and would usually keep him in line and out of trouble. Sometimes he'd disappear, though he had enough respect for the Handler to never leave the isolation, though he got pretty verbally berated one time for it... He wound up staying for 4 1/2 years, his constant disappearances sometimes making an experiment have to restart. Can't say he was upset with the person who got him here at all though... Maybe this was for the best?

Spoiler

Deck: Ryuji uses a deck themed around Gemini Monsters! He runs cards that go along with Normal Monsters in order to get value out of both parts of their effects, preferring to show a style of Dueling where his monsters get to come back for an Encore, A.K.A. what he calls 'Ending the Session'. You can't have a proper session without an Encore, right? He also utilizes cards that support his Gemini Monsters in his extra deck, along with some slight utility to try and take his opponent by the blindside if his Gemini's don't seem to be able to get the job done. Phoenix Gearfried tends to be his go-to Main Deck card, usually using it to fetch his Ace Extra deck monsters such as Vola-Chemicritter Methydraco.

This character might also wind up having Ace Cards like Superalloy Beast Raptinus, still trying to figure out what cards they'd run in the deck since I want them to be a more fun-leaning character with a serious side they can get into. I admit I'm still a bit newly getting into Yugioh and learning all the new cards that have happened, so I'll happily take some pointers that people can point out with cards that would fit in the deck theme that they'd enjoy playing against in RP.

      May 1st, Sunday, 3:13 PM
Though the forecast was showing it would be a dark and stormy night, the skies seemed to only be overcast at the present mid-day time. And yet in spite of these bleak looking skies it did little to abate the activities and excitement of the people of Camellia. Though the big city didn't know much in way of rest today was especially abuzz with activity as the people had all filed into the new - several year old - Aspect Stadium, the main hub for all things Blue Rose would be broadcast. The reason was simple. Today was a day for introductions, for promotion and for showcasing. Each and every duelist partaking in the Blue Rose tournament had been called to the new - though in reality five year old - Aspect Stadium; the building where all duels for Blue Rose would be held. All thirty two of them were to listen to the announcer for the event tell them all that was expected for the tournament. The rules, code of conduct, the long and storied tradition and history of the both the tournament and the sport. And finally for the viewers at home a short introduction of each of the players, simply stating all of their names, decks and what province they were representing. When all was said and done, the group was dismissed from the tournament hall and free to go about their business.
Upon exiting the stadium proper, they would see a crowd of people who had all been waiting for them, some fans of the sport and some reporters and journalists looking to interview the duelists. Naturally some of the participants were more popular than others, last year's third place being swarmed the moment that she had left the building, and they would deal with their fans and crowds in their own way. The group of tournament participants would be able to spend the rest of their free time however they wished for the day, knowing full well that tomorrow was the start of the games proper.
Iris, for her part, didn't particularly feel in the mood to do any press for herself as well. Smiling and waving to all the people who had called out to her, Iris merely continued her way forward and managed to get past all of them. Looking up to the sky the girl frowned, thinking that the gray skies wasn't the best of omens for the coming tournament. Not to mention it was neither sunny nor raining, making her ever present parasol nothing more than a fashionable accessory. Sighing to herself, the girl continued to walk into the unfamiliar city proper, thinking that surely there was something to pass the time with.

Yugioh 5Ds: The Call of the Duel is a Yugioh RP, set in the time period following the defeat of Z-ONE at the end of 5Ds, in the aftermath of the Signers of the Crimson Dragon going their separate ways. The story will follow rising stars in the landscape of New Domino in 2038, as the troubled history of their city appears to continue, with a new wave of crime, corporatism, and an undercurrent of occult conspiracy sweeping into the gap left behind by the Z-ONE disaster. Some highlights include; the presence Turbo Duelling Vigilantes, such as the 'Re-Enforcers' and 'Ryder Zero', the reemergence of KaibaCorp into the public eye, Jack Atlas serving as the Head of Sector Security, whispers about remnants of the Arcadia Movement, and more. Intrigue is the name of the game, and the only things you'll be able to trust are yourself, your deck, and if you have it, your Duel Runner.

This is more or less the entire old OOC from YCM. Will see about adding in the character stuff later. Also note that not all the information is quite accurate atm but I wanted to keep it as true to what it was (I did remove a few things though).
Well, didn't add the character stuff but hey, don't need that anymore! RP Completed.

Extraordinary individuals on Earth have existed since the beginning of recorded history, or even before then. As long as man has looked up at the stars and wondered what higher powers exist out there, there have been a select chosen few who can bridge that gap. Gifted with powers, whether supernatural, technological, alien, or simply exceptional among humanity; they have rode the crest of the wave of history, shaping it at every turn... whether for good or for evil.
Over the last few centuries, as the modern geopolitical sphere solidifies, so does the culture of superheroes. Multiple groups arise, each one policing their corner of the globe, trying to stay disentangled from the worries of the rest of the world. There are so many, in fact, that it took a few days before the full picture came together one hot summer day in 2018.
Seven young heroes, vanished into thin air. And when they return, the stories they tell will only be overshadowed by the secrets they keep...
      GUIDELINES
Please read and understand NCM and section rules before posting.
You have creative freedom when making your character, but please remember that GM word is final, and you may be asked to change things if deemed necessary. There's a fine line between over-the-top and just plain silly: I expect you to know where that lies. I won't be restricting your potential powers, but please be reasonable and consider how your character's abilities will work in the context of an RP.
(Note: Characters with a "cosmic" origin or power source, ex. aliens or Green Lantern-esque heroes, must be cleared by me prior to applying, and will be held to greater scrutiny.)
Being accepted into this RP means that you are committed to seeing it advance. If you end up falling inactive, you may be dismissed from participating. When posting, please let at least two people go before you before posting again; and aim to post at least once a week. If for some reason you'll need to be inactive for an extended period, please let the hosts know so they can write around your absence.
As of right now, I only want one character per player. If you are competing for a particular position against another applicant... well, tough. I'll pick applications based on how I think the characters will overlap and interact with one another--we're following the trope of Superhero Speciation. Finally, six characters max will be on the Young Guardians, meaning I'll only accept five other players.

This is by no means a complete history: feel free to expand on it in your app. (Please forgive my poor attempts at Google Translating Russian.)
1900's While empowered individuals as a concept have existed since the dawn of time, the idea of costumed villains and vigilantes only became culturally widespread with the advances of the 20th century.1940 The "Golden Age" of superheroics begins a year into the Second World War: this was when heroes were deployed to the front lines for the first time as tactical ultimatums. The war ends with a two-pronged attack. The French Légion de la Gloire and the British Division 10 moved in the Western theater, and the Soviet красные знаменосцы (Red Pennants) and American Sentinels took the East. Notably, this avoided the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Rather, the trigger for the Axis' surrender was when a Soviet hero named Огненное Знамя (Fiery Banner) went insane and razed the city of Dresden to the ground, incinerating nearly one million Germans. (He would later be executed for war crimes, which set off future international tensions.)Sep 2, 1945 After the end of the war, the primary world powers gathered at Dresden to sign into account the Dresden Accords, a list of rules for deploying superheroes under national orders. As a result, heroing became a mostly-national phenomenon: international scenarios were rare to the point of irrelevance.mid-1950's An unintended consequence of the Accords was the rise of global super-crime, mostly by the shadowy organization M.I.S.T. Against the tension of the Cold War, which was only held at bay by the tenuous balance of powers, this globespanning group plundered and spread terror, lead by the mysterious and charismatic Gray Mask. These two factors are considered to be the beginning of the "Bronze Age" of heroes, where realpolitik eclipsed a unifying foe.Mar 4, 1983 This state of uncertainty fell with a bang! with the invasion of the K'rrik, a race of insectoid aliens looking to strip Earth of her resources and subjugate her citizens. Humanity suddenly found they were not alone: and although they unified in the face of such evil, they were on the back foot of a number of days until the arrival of the Cosmic Legion (name subject to change).Mar 17, 1983 The tide turned, and within two weeks the K'rrik invaders were beaten back, but at the cost of millions of casualties. March 17th became the Day of Memory, an international holiday to commemorate the loss of life. A side effect of the Legion's new presence on Earth was the acceleration of spacefaring technologies, letting humanity quickly establish lunar and Martian outposts.JUNE 2018 A group of seven young superheroes make their first entry into the Otherworld after being abducted in their sleep.
