Jun looked over as the Cyber Dragon appeared, aiding her own dragons in blazing through the shrooms. She was glad to see that their efforts were paying off, and the girl let out a hearty laugh as she said, "that's right! No monster, no matter how many can possibly defeat the power of the duel team!" She didn't remember anyone using cyber dragons on the duel team, but that she was winning her fight, that Yushiro had struck the Piper and that the skeleton army was winning over the Relinquished was definitely proof enough of the duel team's overwhelming victory. As the monsters started to go into a frenzy, Jun smiled saying, "now go dragons! Show these monsters who's boss!" The two dragons roared again, diving into the free for all and beginning to tear through the chaotic hoards of level 1 monsters.

Jun looked over to Yushiro to check out his progress on his battle which it now seemed like he was losing. Thankfully, she had proclaimed that could beat the duel team not the duel individual or however that went. So she hadn't lied yet. Pulling out a card from her deck, Jun looked at the monster and decided to test something out. "Alright, let's go. Unmasked Dragon!" A buff, flaming bipedal dragon appeared letting out a roar to signify its arrival. Curiously, though, in spite of not being level 1 it didn't get forced into a defensive posture. Jun thought on this for a moment, muttering, "so level 1 and 3 work, hm? In that case..." The girl didn't finish her thoughts aloud, and instead shook her head saying, "regardless! Unmasked Dragon, go kick that Piper's butt!"

The dragon nodded as it slowly flapped its wings and leaped into the air. Landing behind the struggling Piper and Yushiro, the dragon bent down and grabbed at the back of the Piper's neck. Pulling at the monster, trying to hoist him off Yushiro, the dragon's snake like head bent further down and around to be face to face with the Piper. Then, with a roar it went to breath flame through the monsters' face, angling diagonally upwards to avoid Yushiro.

It worked! It actually worked! Her Monster had managed to grab and drag the beastie into the field. Why she was supposed to do that she wasn't quite sure she knew but all that mattered was that she had succeeded! Or rather, her Monster did.

"King is the strongest in the world!" She declared enthusiastically, forgetting herself. Her excitement made her forget the situation for a moment but soon it all came rushing back to her.

Along with the realization that now the Relinquished was even closer to her than it had been before. She considered running but, after her earlier outburst, she feared she would lose her persona, and confidence, were she to do so. Instead the young girl stood her ground as she stared at the creature that had been causing so much trouble.

Taking a deep breath she pointed towards her Monster. "King of the Skull Servants! Most mighty of my minions! Now is the time! Show this wicked beast what happens to those who invade my territory!"

The King let out a roar. Or rather an eerie rattling noise. Then he gripped onto the opposing Monster with its bony fingers. Digging them into the Relinquished's grotesque body. With a powerful motion the King lifted it up into the air. Then, bending backwards, spine curving as he did so, the King slammed Relinquished onto the ground behind him. Sending up a plume of dirt and dust into the air as he did.

Melissa wasn’t entirely sure what was going on, only that the little voice in her head that wasn’t hers was still encouraging her and telling her she was doing okay. Oh, and that she’d managed to keep the panic of the non-duel-disk-wielding students to a minimum. So that was two things, but everything else seemed to go on in a chaotic whirlwind of dragons, fire, and, for some reason, suplexes. Taking things in one at a time wasn’t an option; there was enough that by the time she comprehended one thing two more sprung up in its place. The best she could do (and the best way to maintain her duel field) was to focus on a singular moment and try to deal with that as best she could.

The one she chose was the most eye-catching one, really. Gabriela commanded her skeleton king to deal with the massive threat that was the Relinquished, and it had done so with gusto. “Show it what happens to those who invade my territory” was an interesting choice of words, especially since the Relinquished ended up in the area it was supposed to protect, but still. Although, on the other hand, perhaps that was the plan. Melissa remembered some sort of talk to that effect. Her duel field made the monsters less real? More real? Whichever was the better one for them, hopefully. But also, like, if it was her duel field, didn’t that mean she could do something about it now? Something more?

Her mind immediately went to her deck, and soon after, her hands had brought it out into view. She was looking for one of a few cards, and, as though by providence, one of them was right there only a few cards deep.

The Relinquished wasn’t so scary anymore. Whether it was her duel field affecting it or just watching it be overpowered by a fellow level one monster, Melissa wasn’t sure, but one thing she did know was, though it was a new addition, it couldn’t stay.

The path of the righteous is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil,” Melissa said to herself as she slid her chosen card into one of the Spell/Trap slots of her duel disk. It was, in fact, a trap card, but that just meant she could say a little prayer first, as an introduction. “Blessed are they, who, in the name of charity and good will shepherd the weak through the valley of darkness, for they are truly a finder and nurturer of lost children.

I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I take vengeance on them.
-Ezekiel 25:17 (NIV)

Solemn Strike!” Melissa called.

The sky darkened again. There were no clouds above the field, nor were there stars, though. It just served as a contrast to the bolt of divine fury coming down from the heavens, landing a direct hit on the Relinquished as it lay there on the ground. The moment it struck, too, the single bolt turned into a column of lighting and flame, erasing the darkness entirely. Melissa looked away. Witnessing divinity wasn’t an issue, of course, it was just a card, but the brightness still overwhelmed her.

Her attention shifted elsewhere, to the Mystic Piper and Yushiro wrestling on the ground. Jun had sent a wyrm out to help assist, and, when Melissa looked back at her duel disk, she remembered she had an ally that could assist there as well. “Ukoback, help deal with that Piper,” she said, and watched as it flew up and dove at the Mystic Piper, arms stretched in front of it to deal a flying punch to the back of the head.

it really is working, her voice said. And it was. Things were starting to turn around.

"Ash, we should really get in there, look at how hard they're fighting!" Elizabeth looked down at her arm, prepared to draw cards after confirmation from her partner in crime. There was no answer. She looked to her left and Ashley was gone; she quickly snapped to her right, looking for her: nowhere to be found: "Ashley?" Elizabeth questioned. It was about then when she realized she could hardly hear anything. She looked forward and could comprehend the things happening around her, but heard nothing. Ashley was with the crowd of others, cheering them on and doing all she could to keep morale high.

Elizabeth was frozen by something. Fear? Paranoia? She looked down at her arm, and the sensation only grew larger in the back of her brain. She took a few steps back, sensing such a feeling would only disrupt the ambition of positive emotions fueling their fight. She looked behind her and began to stumble back towards the door. She backpedaled as quickly as she could, nearly falling a few times, were it not for the trained dexterity in her lifestyle. Even still, her palms grew clammy, and the sense of dread grew stronger. She fell backwards through the door she had entered in, her rear slamming hard against the cold tile floor and prompting her duel disk to shoot her late brother's cards all over the floor. Elizabeth let out an agonizing gasp as she quickly scrambled to pick up the cards, sweat dripping from her forehead. There was one, faint whining in the back of her head as she collected them as quickly as she could, struggling to keep her hands from shaking while picking up cards gently from the floor to keep them as pristine as her memory. She stopped, unable to continue as only a single card laid on the floor. She focused in on the sound, and it was a voice:

"This isn't your fight Beth. They don't need you." What had started out as a whine, perhaps the sound of grinding machinery, came into the form of a voice that was clear as day:

"...Todd? What are you talking about?" she stared at the lone card on the floor, now broken into a full sweat.

"THEY DONT NEED YOU BETH! Quit chasing them!" His voice became angry; tempered. She began to shake.

"I...I don't" The voice continue to repeat itself while Beth struggled and crawled towards the card. As she approached it, hands quaking with fear, the voice only got louder. It took her entire power to touch her fingertips to the card when suddenly a boot planted itself on the other side of the card. She looked up to see Kyata's face:

"There's nothing you can do Beth. They don't need you."

Elizabeth snapped back into focus, taking a sharp breath. She was still standing in the circle. with all the other duelists. Everything was how she had left it. Ashley had run up with Kai, throwing cards into the struggle even, while the group slowly won the war against their assailant. She looked down at her arm: the deck was still there. Was it all a dream? What did it mean?

"Maybe they don't...but I need them." Elizabeth spoke softly to herself and drew a card: she felt warmth from the card. What was this sensation? Comfort? Familiarity? She would have to go through the steps to be positive. Left foot planted firmly forward, with her right elbow ever so slightly tucked back. Championing the card into the air, Elizabeth exclaimed a summoning call, "It might not look like much...but you're in some serious trouble now, Mate!" she slammed the card down into her duel disk, causing a glitchy, metallic snake dragon to wriggle its way out of thin air. The coils and links kept on coming and coming until it had coiled itself up tall, screaming loudly, albeit frequently interrupted by a glitched sound or two.

Elizabeth could not help but think that her summoning call did not sound as good as his, but it mattered not what it sounded like to them. She refused to be remembered as the one who did nothing. She wanted to be remembered as someone who was there when she was needed. At least for once.

"Proto-Cyber Dragon, help Melissa and banish that wicked beast with your Electric Tail!" The beast shot over with great speed, slamming into the side of the beast attempting to snuff out Yushiro. The beast's great length would seek to scoop up the monster and serve it in the air like a volleyball to the Monster Melissa had summoned to do the same.

Elizabeth looked down at her wrist once again: the voice was gone.

A grotesque, agonized gurgling noise came from Relinquished, which was now laying prone on the ground, charred and blackened by the bolt of divine lightning. The King turned back around to look over its vanquished foe, and let out a roar of triumph as all around the tide began to turn. Without the pipe, the horde of low level monsters had descended into unorganized chaos, and the combined force of the students and their own decks began destroying them en masse. Over the mayhem Kuriborhn flew, keeping the pipe out of reach.

"Oh? What might you wa-AAAAAAAAA!"

The piper cried out in agony as Unmasked dragon shot a jet of flame into his face, the force of it sending him into the air, off of Yushiro, and conveniently right into the uncoiled tail of Proto Cyber Dragon. The mecha dragon scooped up its foe and, after constricting the piper for a moment in order to send a jolt of electric current through him, flung the piper forth towards the oncoming Darklord Ukoback. Yushiro watched it unfold as he gasped for breath, the searing pain in his legs dulled just a little bit by the realization that they'd won.

And indeed they had, for Ukoback's punch was enough to finish the piper. He hit the ground nearby with a thud, shattering into pixelated dusk before he even had a moment to gasp out some last words. Nearby, Relinquished suffered a similar fate, though its destruction was more gradual- turning to particulates from the bottom up. The monsters it had absorbed faded away with it, and a few moments later a familiar voice spoke in Yushiro's head. Surprisingly, he wasn't angry.

"Not bad, kid. Next time, try to fill me in on the plan though."

"Maybe, if you stop patronizing me."

"I just might. It took some guts to run through all of that on hurt legs."

"Yeah tha- wait how did you see that from inside Relinquished?"

"Duel Disk. So long as my card's on it, everything it sees, I can see. Even If I happen to be physically elsewhere at the time."

"Is that so you can spy on people?"

"Something like that. But we can talk about it later. You should get up. Go see your friends."

Yushiro winced as he used Unmasked Dragon's wing to steady himself and get back on his feet. He recognized it as a wyrm type- it must be Jun's. The other two were mysteries though. Either way, he owed all three of them a thankyou.

"Hmmmmwah!"

Kuriborhn tossed the flute and flitted back over onto Yushiro's head.

"I owe you big time too, pal." He said, as the two of them, accompanied by the other three monsters, walked back toward Melissa's duel field where the rest of their friends were waiting.

Meanwhile, the King of the Skull Servants looked over the spot where its defeated enemy had been. Something had caught his eyesockets. Carefully, the giant skeleton bent down, and using his thumb and forefinger, plucked something off the ground, then carried it back with him. He let out another roar to get his mistress's attention, and then took a knee. The King bowed in fealty, then outstretched his hand, offering up the blue monster card with their foe's visage printed on it up to Gabby- a prize for their well-earned victory. The rest of the Skeleton Army, having now fended off the remainder of the level one horde, turned and did the same as they began to disappear one by one- the piper's influence fading away.

Praise the Lord.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,
Praise him with the clash of cymbals,
    praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.
-Psalm 150 (NIV)

Melissa’s world began to fade from view. Not in the sense that she was losing consciousness or, worse still, that the world was ending, but with the defeat of the Mystical Piper and its Relinquished, as the remaining hordes of monsters on both sides began dissipating into the aether, there wasn’t as much a need to keep her duel disk running. It still lingered for a few moments longer, the collective subconscious of everyone around her working to keep it alive, but at the same time, with the return to clear skies above, was the light of her duel field even necessary anymore? They had done it.

They had done it!

All of the exhaustion she had accumulated throughout the day, from the initial panic and scramble to constantly being on edge as she and her friends made their way across campus to the difficulty of keeping up appearances with everyone around her suddenly hit Melissa like a train full of bricks. That all-too-familiar shortness of breath came with it too, starting with a massive exhale, the kind that she only ever felt when she held her breath for too long (had she been holding her breath?), before proceeding into panting gasps for air. But, strangely, she didn’t feel like dashing off to a restroom or some other private area to recover. With this old, yet still unfamiliar feeling, what she wanted to do was find her friends.

Jun and Elizabeth, of course, were right next to her, or near enough that she could find them. Even Souji and his HEROes could still be spotted without too much effort. Despite their proximity, though, Melissa still tried to address each one of them in turn. “Thank you for saving us in Taylor Hall,” she told Jun. “And for providing the inspiration for all of this.” To Elizabeth, she said, “Thank you for believing in this. You were one of the first to arrive, and we surely wouldn’t have managed without all the help you brought.” And to Souji, Melissa said, “Thank you for being the hero we needed.

And then there was Gabby. Just like Souji’s HEROes, Gabby’s King of Skull Servants had been a product of her own cards, so had not yet dissipated like its brethren. It still towered over everything, even as it knelt down to hand something over to its mistress, which really made her just as easy to find as everyone else had been. But Gabby, well, there wasn’t anything that really needed saying at all. Not in that moment. Melissa waited for her to be finished with her Skull Servant, and when Gabby turned, Melissa wrapped her in the warmest hug she could manage, content that that said enough.

Gabriela would have fallen to her knees in relief, something quite unbecoming for her "station" for certain, if she could move at all. No, after all the fear and excitement Gabby couldn't move a muscle. She stood stiffly staring in awe as the Monsters began to fade away. Leaving only those that they had summoned themselves. And even some of those were gradually being removed from the field that was their schoolyard.

The King, in all his giant bony glory, approached her. Strangely Gabby felt at ease as he approached despite his monstrous appearance and size. She was shocked as he knelt down by her and bowed his head but she didn't let it show. "A-ah, good work! You have done well my...dark vassal!" She said. Then she reached out and awkwardly patted the monster's large skull.

That's when she noticed the object he was handing to her. It seemed to be...a card? A card of the monster they had just defeated. What did this mean? That someone had summoned it here using this card?

Her initial thought was that she should rip it in half and be done with it. Perhaps it was dangerous? At the very least she felt wrong holding it. Yet...she didn't really have many cards of her own. And she didn't want to take from the binders at the club, it didn't suit her character after all, so she should take this chance while she had it. "Ah, yes, the spoils of war!" She declared and then, gently, nervously, slid the card into her deck.

She had a feeling she was being watched and when she turned she felt a sudden embrace. It didn't take her long to recognize the assailant as Melissa and she nervously hugged the girl back. She guessed this meant she wasn't mad at her about the newspaper thing.

"It's...it's over, at last." Gabby said with a sigh. What a terrible event this had been. Yet, perhaps, even if just a bit, she felt she might have grown stronger during it. Perhaps she could survive this school of elites. Well, one could certainly not blame her for hoping.

      "You have been Chosen"
As you hear these words your thoughts immediately turn towards the myths. A prophecy that states that, when the world needs them most, 9 heroes will be chosen by the Elemental Spirits to fight evil itself. In the form of Demon Gates hidden throughout the land. Wicked contraptions that connect the world of Fantalius to the Demon Realm. For the past two-hundred years Fantalius has been dying. Monsters, evil humanoids, and worse have control of the land. The common folk are forced to cower in their cities, traveling only by protected caravans. While adventurers can travel as long as they keep their wit about them, it's a constant struggle against death just to make it to the next city. However you, and 8 others, have been given a chance, and a destiny. If you take it upon yourself it is guaranteed to be an adventure full of risk. However if you succeed in destroying the Demon Gates and bringing peace back to Fantalius you will be hailed as heroes.
You are The Chosen. Now step forward, brave adventurers, and embrace your destiny!

And as mentioned it would be limited acceptance. Only 8 others will be chosen (I will fill out the last Chosen myself after the rest are picked). But don't let that scare you. It will be a time and quality based choice on my part. If you write a character that's really amazing you'll likely get a slot early but other than that I will review all of them best I can to find the ones that work the best.
This doesn't mean super long and detailed either. Something short but understandable and well made is perfectly great.

      May 1st, Sunday, 3:13 PM
Though the forecast was showing it would be a dark and stormy night, the skies seemed to only be overcast at the present mid-day time. And yet in spite of these bleak looking skies it did little to abate the activities and excitement of the people of Camellia. Though the big city didn't know much in way of rest today was especially abuzz with activity as the people had all filed into the new - several year old - Aspect Stadium, the main hub for all things Blue Rose would be broadcast. The reason was simple. Today was a day for introductions, for promotion and for showcasing. Each and every duelist partaking in the Blue Rose tournament had been called to the new - though in reality five year old - Aspect Stadium; the building where all duels for Blue Rose would be held. All thirty two of them were to listen to the announcer for the event tell them all that was expected for the tournament. The rules, code of conduct, the long and storied tradition and history of the both the tournament and the sport. And finally for the viewers at home a short introduction of each of the players, simply stating all of their names, decks and what province they were representing. When all was said and done, the group was dismissed from the tournament hall and free to go about their business.
Upon exiting the stadium proper, they would see a crowd of people who had all been waiting for them, some fans of the sport and some reporters and journalists looking to interview the duelists. Naturally some of the participants were more popular than others, last year's third place being swarmed the moment that she had left the building, and they would deal with their fans and crowds in their own way. The group of tournament participants would be able to spend the rest of their free time however they wished for the day, knowing full well that tomorrow was the start of the games proper.
Iris, for her part, didn't particularly feel in the mood to do any press for herself as well. Smiling and waving to all the people who had called out to her, Iris merely continued her way forward and managed to get past all of them. Looking up to the sky the girl frowned, thinking that the gray skies wasn't the best of omens for the coming tournament. Not to mention it was neither sunny nor raining, making her ever present parasol nothing more than a fashionable accessory. Sighing to herself, the girl continued to walk into the unfamiliar city proper, thinking that surely there was something to pass the time with.

Hello......hello. Again? No, that's not right. Hello for the first time, for you at least, everyone. I hope this message gets through. You see...there have been some problems in my universe. Oh, right, there's multiple universes. Don't worry you'll understand eventually. Anyway something has gone horrible wrong. And the only hope we have is...all of you.
No pressure. Well. Perhaps a small, just a tad, a smidgen really, bit of pressure.
I, we, really need your help. You won't be alone and, even if you find yourself in the unfamiliar, take heart that you have comrades. You will fight together. Live together. Argue with. Forge bonds. Perhaps even more. At least...I hope so.
Perhaps you'll just kill each other. This isn't an exact science. It's not even science at all, not really, actually.
But that's enough from me. There's plenty more to say and I, while I'm a wonderful orator, would take far too long to explain it all.

I want this to work and not just be a "fun thing to play around in for a month then leave" so be sure to pick your character carefully. They're gonna be with you for a while. If you're unsure about anything let me know. I'll try and point out anything I see as problematic but don't feel down if I do it's kinda just my nature.
Lastly I won't have a solid limit on number of players but if I feel it's too much I'll make a limit.
Well...there you have it, let's get this going!
