radio414 940 Posted September 24 On 9/23/2024 at 1:26 AM, yui said: what's the biggest red flag you've seen on another person? the biggest green flag? i don't think there's a faster way to lower my opinion of someone than the usage of slurs. i could be getting along fine with someone and then they'll drop an r-slur, for example, and i immediately feel myself drop to standoffish at best. and yeah, some of them might have an air of reclamation to them and i open myself to that discussion, but yeah. fastest i've become friends with people is through music. it doesn't have to even be music i like (though it helps when someone says "king gizzard and the lizard wizard" and you can point at each other from across the room), but it's a common enough shared experience that you can get people talking about recommendations even when they're otherwise antisocial. in high school i met one of my best friends because they were humming jonathan coulton songs in math class. i got a handle on another person's personality by finding out they liked hyperpop fine but not 100 gecs. the list goes on.
