Lady Debug's okay, but I'd rather use the Normal Summon for Gazelle to dump something, or for Foxy's Duality effect.
I do have a pair of Impermanence, but space is an issue. I'm thinking dropping a Veiler and a Roar for them.
-
I've got till Sunday to test this, but here's what I got for Salamangreats. I really like Violet Chimera as a means of removing problem link monsters, also, 6 ROTA is fun.
Semi-Budget, so no Fantastical, but I do have the Cynets in there, as those are way more affordable.
Monsters: 17
3 Gazelle
3 Foxy
2 Spinny
1 Fowl
1 Falco
1 Jaguar
3 Ash Blossom
3 Effect Veiler
Spells: 16
3 Cynet Mining
3 S. Circle
2 Will
1 Sanctuary
2 Fusion of Fire
2 Called
2 Twin Twisters
1 Monster Reborn
Traps: 7
3 S. Roar
1 Rage
3 Solemn Strike
Extra: 15
3 Sunlight Wolf
3 Baleynx
2 Heatleo
2 Miragestallio
2 Violet Chimera
1 Knightmare Phoenix
1 Hiita, the Fire Charmer, Ablaze
1 Borrelsword Dragon
Side: 15
3 Pankratops
2 Sea Turtle Kaiju
2 Super Poly
1 Twin Twisters
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
3 Evenly Matched
3 Heavy Storm Duster
Side Deck is a WIP, though I'm throwing in extra Spell/Trap removal for the Mystic Mine decks I expect to run into. Wonder if I should switch the MST and HSD ratios if I do. Super Poly for the mirror of course.
As much as I like playing this, I wonder if I might be better off playing MM burn instead. IDK, but leaning towards this atm.

Honestly, kinda sucks that Hawking isn't still around to react to it, considering he did so much research into these things.
-
Is it unreasonable to think that a sword and/or shield would be used to summon/revive/access the game's legendaries in some way?

Deck updated for the January 28 Ban List and also post-Savage Strike.
Aloof Lupine is really nice. Certainly makes up for the loss of 2 Gold Sarc, though it kind of interferes with thunder-type summons a bit what with it being beast-type. Wee Witch makes use of it though. And a 3100 ATK Colossus is always nice to have.

@jabber2033Glad they didn't hit Colossus after you got them, and I guess you don't have to worry about getting the Gem-knights for Brilliant Fusion xDYeah, that's nice. Problem is what to play in place of Gold Sarcs. I know they're getting a wolf card that banishes stuff, so I'll play that once I get those.
-
First page edited to include the Jan 25 changes.
-
Sky Strikers are still best deck.
Engage has jumped $20 less than two hours after the list dropped. Just bought my playset before it jumps any more.
-
Bit the bullet and ordered my Colossus pair this morning.
I'd rather see IF than not, and having it at 2 makes me see it less. Yeah, it's annoying drawing multiples, but you've got Dragonhawk to fix your hand.
I do wanna try the Brilliant engine, and I have a playset of BF, but I don't have the Prism or Amber. So Called is in its place for now. Called might actually be better, just because the deck is somewhat vulnerable to Ash.
-
Finally got all the cards for this in the mail, so now I can use this deck. Problem with building a new deck around Ban List season is you don't know how it would get hit. My question now is, should I get the remaining two Colossus now, or wait?
Monsters: 25
3 Thunder Dragon
3 Thunder Dragondark
3 Thunder Dragonroar
3 Thunder Dragonhawk
3 Thunder Dragonmatrix
3 Aloof Lupine
2 Batteryman Solar
2 Effect Veiler
3 Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Spells: 13
3 Allure of Darkness
3 Instant Fusion
3 Called by the Grave
2 Thunder Dragon Fusion
1 Gold Sarcophagus
1 Monster Reborn
Traps: 2
2 Infinite Impermanence
Extra DecK: 15
3 Thunder Dragon Colossus
2 Thunder Dragon Titan
1 Kaminari Attack
1 Thousand-Eyes Restrict
2 Some Summer Summoner
1 Wee Witch's Apprentice
1 Knightmare Phoenix
1 Knightmare Unicorn
1 Summon Sorceress
1 Borreload Dragon
1 Borrelsword Dragon
A note on Impermanence: I got lucky and pulled one, and traded one of my spare Borrelswords I pulled for a second copy. I'm not blowing $90 on a third when we're getting reprints in a couple months.
-
Two Borrelswords out of like 15 FLOD packs. Yesterday I traded my spare for my second Impermanence.
Also, two Electrumite out of 10 packs of the set it came from, back when it was decently priced.
Normally, though, I tend to have terrible luck pulling from packs.
-
This means it'll be a $5-$9 card instead of a $30 card. And way more accessible. Multiple copies of this means I don't have to swap out my only playset in and out of various decks.
Question is how much are the other reprints gonna drop?

2 Level 3 monsters
Monsters this card points to cannot be destroyed by card effects. If this card on the field would be destroyed by battle or an opponent's card effect, you can send 1 other card you control to the GY instead. You can send 1 Level 3 monster from your Deck to the GY, then target 1 "Burning Abyss" monster on the field; it gains ATK/DEF equal to the sent monster's ATK/DEF, until the end of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Cherubini, Black Angel of the Burning Abyss" once per turn.TCG release confirmed here by ygorganization.
It's coming, guys.

I do like the new wording of Soul. Also dropped the BP restriction as I feel that's too much of a restriction. The deck needs it's BP.
Re-worded Paladin a bit, also made it target Eyes of Blue monsters instead of Blue-Eyes monsters. Less OTK potential but still decent.
5 hours ago, Dova said:trigger of targeting
Also, wtf does this mean?
-
Fixed Elf's hard OPT clause.
One says Elf is fine, another says too strong. Any suggestions?
And I guess Paladin's draw effect might be too much considering Alternative is also BEWD in grave. So that's a 6-card draw for one summon. Decided to make it apply to the Normal BEWD only. So 3 cards drawn max.
How to make Soul better? Just make it a generic Eyes of Blue summoner without the BEWD restriction? Or something else?
-
So thought I'd start with some Blue-Eyes support. Loved it when it was relevant, but the deck just got power-crept. Hopefully these cards can help it get back in the game.
QuoteElf with Eyes of Blue
LIGHT / Effect / Spellcaster / Tuner / Level 1 / ATK: 0 / DEF: 0
When this card is summoned: you can add 1 "Blue-Eyes" or "Eyes of Blue" monster from your deck to your hand except "Elf with Eyes of Blue." You can shuffle this card in your GY to your deck: Special Summon 1 "Blue-Eyes" monster from your GY to the field. Each effect of "Elf with Eyes of Blue" can only be activated once per turn.
QuotePaladin with Eyes of Blue
LIGHT / Effect / Spellcaster / Tuner / Level 1 / ATK: 0 / DEF: 0
When this card is summoned: draw 1 card for every card you control or in your GY whose original name is "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". You can banish this card from your GY (Quick Effect): target 1 "Eyes of Blue" monster you control; it gains 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF until the End Phase, but your other monsters cannot attack this turn. Each effect of "Paladin with Eyes of Blue" can only be activated once per turn.
QuoteSoul of the White Dragon
Normal Spell Card
If you control 1 or no monsters: take 1 "Eyes of Blue" monster from your Deck or GY, then, if you control "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" you can Special Summon that monster, otherwise, add it to your hand. You can only activate 1 "Soul of the White Dragon" per turn.
What do ya'll think? Too strong? Or not enough?
Blue-Eyes is bricky as it is, and I thought I'd give it a few cards to help increase the consistency a bit. Not sure what the deck is missing to be honest. Might give these pictures eventually as well.
-
That last line really confuses me. What would prevent you from gaining the LP?
Called by the Grave negates the entire card, including the last line. Aside from that, I can't see a way for the LP gain to not happen after this is activated.
-
Okay, that makes sense. I saw Max 5 materials and thought, "hey, a materials limit would make it a bit less broke!" but I guess not.
-
Effect:
Quote2 or more (max. 5) Level 4 Warrior-Type monsters
During each of your opponent's End Phases: Detach 1 Xyz Material from this card. This card gains effects based on the number of Xyz Materials attached to it.
- 1 or more: Cannot be destroyed by battle.
- 2 or more: Gains 1500 ATK and DEF.
- 3 or more: Unaffected by other card effects. ?
- 4 or more: Your opponent cannot Normal or Special Summon monsters.
- 5: Once per turn: You can destroy all cards your opponent controls.Thing needs to die in a fire.
A friend of mine runs this in Six Samurai, and he can drop it with 5+ materials fairly easily. If I Ash his Sorceress or Solemn Isolde, I can usually stop it from coming out. I haven't played against meta decks like Gouki or Dark Warrior that can play this to compare, but I can imagine.
Edit: bit of a question as well: can this exceed five materials via Number 75: Bamboozling? Or can Number 75 not be attached if it would give this more than 5 materials?
-
Yeah, Gumblar, and Number 86 are the two big things people want banned at the moment. I've played against Six Sams Rhongo and that deck can drop it with 5+ materials fairly consistently. Haven't played against Gouki Rhongo or Dark Warrior Rhongo so I'm not sure how they compare.

Just thought I'd post a link to the current Ban List here in case people need to look for it.
We can also post any future Ban List updates in this thread as well. I don't follow the OCG, so I'll leave that to someone else.

So I did a lot of lurking in the old YCM forum, but did post occasionally around the TCG section, including the occasional deck list and card discussion.
Probably will do much of the same here, but glad to have this forum going again.
Also, why no Pokemon TCG section alongside the Magic and Hearthstone sections? As one of the three biggest card games along side Yugioh and Magic, seems like it should deserve it's own section.
Language Barriers in Yugioh
in Banlists & Theories
Posted
So with Worlds in August, something hit me that I hadn't considered before.
What happens if you get paired with someone who doesn't understand your language.
Like, I have no understanding of foreign languages at all, so I wouldn't know what to do if I had to play someone who only spoke Japanese. Are there translators, or what? How do the officials at the World Championship handle language barriers?
