  1. A lot had happened in the past few hours. A little too much for Emi to really handle. Turns out the whole robot T-Rex thing was a test. It was a little annoying to her that the teachers would throw them into the deep end like that so quickly, but it made sense. Kind of. Not much use arguing about it, really, if this is how one becomes a hero.

The rest of the day, and the week for that matter, was a blur. So much new information, so many new people, so much new… well, everything. It was a little overwhelming, but exciting nonetheless. All of the teachers seemed nice enough, and the first week left Emi excited for what was to come. History with Ruby Heart was a little dull, but after seeing the punishment for not laziness on other classmates, Emi made sure to pay attention while attempting to act interested in the lecture whenever the #5 Hero happened to shoot her a glance.

The week was soon over. "That wraps up class for today, students! It's been a great first week, hasn't it?! I hope that we continue to get closer as a class! I also want to thank you for being patient with me! I was never a good student, so being on the teaching end is really quite strange! Oh! And don't forget! Please have your parents or guardians sign your permission slip for our field trip to the beach! You won't be able to go, unless they say so! Get home safely, everyone!"

“Really? A field trip in the second week? Are they even teaching you over there?” Mr. Kikuchi skeptically scanned the permission slip, eyebrows furrowed.

“It’s just a little break, dad. Since we’ve all been working so hard.” He wasn’t convinced. “It’s the beach. I can practice using my Quirk there.” Emi coldly followed. Just as coldly, he responded. “Fine, I’m going to sign this. Make sure it doesn’t get in the way of your studies.” He quickly signed the paper and headed for his room, closing the door.

That was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Emi gleefully ran to her room, excited to start packing for the next day’s events. Throwing everything into her bag, she hopped into bed and went to sleep.

The next morning, Emi was halfway to the school, going through a mental checklist for the third time to make sure she had everything.
    Sunscreen? Check.
    Towel? Check.
    Permission slip?
... Her heart sank. She didn’t remember putting the slip in her bag. Sure enough, after frantically rummaging through it, there was no paper. With a defeated sigh, she turned around and raced home.

By the time she grabbed the permission slip off her desk and made it to UA, most of the students were already on the bus. Emi ran onto the vehicle and threw herself into a random open seat. She tilted her head back, catching her breath.

    Made it!

  2. A roar echoed throughout the city, accompanied by the terrifying sounds of metal grinding against metal and concrete. The gigantic T-Rex stomped through the city, destroying all that came in its path. Obviously the next logical thing to do would be to head right for it.

Diana easily outpaced Emi, even though she got a head start. It’s probably her Quirk. She’s pretty strong and super fast, which will probably be useful for taking out the T-Rex. As they both approached the machine, a quick thought flashed in Emi’s mind.

This thing was a lot bigger up close.

Swallowing her fleeting feeling of panic, Emi tried to calmly assess the situation. A few of her classmates were fighting the beast off, circling around it, trying to find some sort of weak point. Though they were making some headway, the monster’s metallic hide was fairly thick, too thick for Emi’s Brine to do much to. There had to be a chink in the armor, a weak point.

Diana arrived at the scene first, picking up a manhole cover and throwing it like a frisbee at a sign that was already lodged into the creature, shoving it deeper into its metal joint. The creature roared as Emi stood in front of the Rex, assuming a battle stance. If she could just lodge that sign deeper into the joint, maybe that would do something Diana yelled to Emi with a thumbs up, “[Hey!] I found the weak point!” Before Emi could even react, a bombardment of lasers shot from the T-Rex. Diana rushed over towards Emi, tackling her to the ground and shielding her from any potentially harmful debris.

“Sorry about that, [uh...] Don't think I caught your name. But I think we can take this thing out with your water!” Diana offered her hand to Emi. “Oh, uh, yeah, I’m Emi.” She took her hand, and was hoisted onto her feet, still dazed from what just happened. “Thanks for saving me... Again. You said I could use my water? Diana pointed towards the mechanical beast.

Emi turned around and saw what she meant. There was a small gap in the dented armor in the front of its leg, light spilling out. "Okay, I see." Emi commanded her water to float off of the ground, and with as much force as she could muster, willed it into the tear in the metal. Before it could reach the source of the light however, the water began to be pushed back by some sort of other force. Emi kept pushing, but the other force seemed to grow stronger. With an exasperated gasp, the water was overtaken by the force, pushing the water away from the light's source, taking a metal plate with it.

Beneath where the metal once was, the source of the light: a giant, mechanical beating heart pulsated.

Emi called out to the rest of her classmates. "That's it! Guys! This is how we beat it!"

  3. Emi mindlessly kicked a piece of scrap metal from the robot she just destroyed as speakers blared.

<ALERT! ALERT! TOTAL OF 16 VILLAINS DETECTED IN TRAINING COURSE ZETA! ALERT! ALERT! LOCKDOWN PROCEDURES COMMENCING! MUST EXTERMINATE!>

The thought intimidated her a little, but this couldn’t be real, right? It was all part of the training or something. Before she could complete her thoughts, small robots began to flood the street. Before she knew it, Emi was quickly surrounded. She shrugged. “Kind of strange that they’d go all out like this on the first day.” Looking around she could see about ten of them closing in on her from all sides. A grappling hook shot out from one of the robots towards Emi. Luckily she was able to react quickly enough, fashioning a small shield out of her water, absorbing the impact.

    “That’s all you got?”

Challenging her words, the remaining nine robots launched their hooks as well. Emi stretched her arms out and twirled around. As she did, the water swirled around her, knocking each hook out of the air one by one, and a few of the robots over.

A deafening roar shook the training grounds. Emi turned to see a gigantic, metal dinosaur over the horizon. She stared in utter disbelief. Emi began to doubt her theory that this was an overly elaborate training exercise…

Distracted, Emi didn’t notice the security robot approach her from behind. It shot a hook at her, latching onto her arm. With a yelp, Emi was knocked to the ground, the robot dragging her away. “Hey!” Anger and annoyance bubbled inside her. “I don’t have time for this!" The water which was once on the ground rose from under the robot, knocking it over. The water floated above the robot as it struggled to pick itself up. Fuming, Emi subconsciously commanded the water to shoot downwards, but this time highly pressurized, cutting straight through the machine’s body.

As Emi pulled herself free from the lifeless automation, three slightly-less lifeless ones replaced it. Emi didn’t have enough water to take them all on quickly enough. Before she could lift herself up to fight again, a girl appeared, kicking one of the robots into the other two, incapacitating them. She turned towards Emi and flashed her a smile. "Hey there! Wanna help me take out a T-Rex?"

What was her name again? Diana? Yeah, that was it...

The T-Rex! Emi almost forgot. She looked over her shoulder at the mechanical monstrosity rampaging on the other side of the city.

Emi turned back towards Diana. “Hey! Thanks for that, I was in some trouble.” Emi gestured towards the beast on the horizon. “Yeah, I guess we should go deal with that, shouldn’t we? Let’s do it!”

Without leaving Diana a chance to respond, Emi lifted her water off the ground into a ring around her waist, turned around and started running down the street.

  4. Emi was still a little taken aback by the events of the past ten minutes, but she was raring to go. After the shaky introduction and throwing on their gym clothes, all the students gathered by the training grounds.

"This is where we'll be introducing ourselves, our quirks, AND our hero names to each other!  Please state your name to the class, and head on inside! There are tons of training robots running around here, kinda like your practical exams! Don't be afraid to go all out against them either. And don't take it too easy, because they won't do the same for you. You won't be aiming for points this time around, but everyone has to destroy at least one robot before exiting, is that c-c-clear?! If you have any questions, I'll be all ears. I'm excited to meet you all today!"

And boy, the variety in quirks was amazing! Emi was so enamored by everyone showing off she almost forgot to go herself. She steeled herself and started to say something, but another boy beat her to it. "I'm Be-... Sorry. I'm O'Hara Benjamin...but feel free to call me Ben. My Hero name...is Arachnid Hero - Multi-Threader. My Quirk is known as Spider Colony. It basically makes me a living hive in which I house spiders within my body...and I can command them.”

Emi’s body shivered. She hated spiders, and the thought of them living inside of someone… scuttling around... really creeped her out. Emi shook her head in an effort to ignore the thought. Now’s not the time for this.

    Here goes nothing!

Emi turned towards the class, uncapped her thermos, and raised her hand to get everyone’s attention.

“Hey everyone! I’m Kikuchi Emi,” she paused for a second to tip her thermos over, pouring out its contents. Instead of falling on the ground however, the water swirled midair into a hoop that circled around her waist, about an arm’s length in radius. She continued, “but you all can call me the Aquatic Hero - Rivulet. Nice to meet you! If you couldn’t tell already, I can do some pretty cool things with saltwater.” She placed the container on the ground. “I’ll come back for you later.”

Emi twirled around and made a beeline for the training grounds.

Robots patrolled the grounds, with Emi soon finding herself in front of one. Its eye glowed red as it meandered towards her. “Let’s do it.” Her hoop of water split, becoming two separate tendrils. One reached out and grabbed the robot’s arm, the other wrapped around its neck. Emi made a downwards pushing motion with her arms, as the water tendrils pulled the robot down, knocking it over. Moving her arm in one fluid motion, the rope of water around the robot’s neck condensed itself, crumpling the metal and popping its head off.

“Aw yeah, I’m just getting started!”

  5. It was a delightful April day. The sun was shining and everyone was out on their daily commute. Usually on a day like today, Emi would have ambled a little more, taking in the morning's warmth.

Instead, she was sprinting down the street.

Of course. Today was such an important day, and she just had to oversleep. It could’ve been the fact that she set her alarm for a.m. instead of p.m. by accident, or that she was too nervous to sleep. This is U freaking A we’re talking about here - the best of the best. What if her Quirk wasn’t good enough? What if she didn’t train enough? She passed the exam, but still, she wasn’t really sure what everyone else was capable of. What would her parents think if she flunked out? It was thoughts like these that kept Emi up for a little longer than she wanted to.

Luckily for her, the Kikuchi family didn’t live too far from the school. After a panicked yelp upon seeing the time, she threw on her uniform, not even buttoning the jacket, and grabbed her backpack. “Morning mom and dad, I’m off!” Before they could respond, Emi burst out the door.

Seeing UA on the horizon, Emi stopped to catch her breath. She slumped against a nearby tree and slid to the ground breathing heavily. After about a minute or so, Emi picked herself up and continued her trek, walking this time just because the building was so close. As she approached, Emi couldn’t help but marvel at the structure.

“Wow! This place is amazing...” she gawked.

She barely noticed the important-looking dude standing at the entrance rifling through some papers. He was a fairly tall man in what looked to be a hero costume, and was about a foot taller than Emi.

“Hi! The name’s Kikuchi. Kikuchi Emi as a matter of fact.”

He thumbed through his papers. "Ah, yes, Kikuchi... It seems you performed reasonably well on the entrance exam. Have you been training your quirk?" Maybe it was Emi’s imagination, but the man’s intense golden eyes seemed to stare right through her. They intimidated her a little, but she guessed that meant this guy was no joke.

She excitedly replied, “Totally! I worked pretty hard, you know, after the whole exam thingy. You know the deal, working out and exercise and all that.”

"Of course. Just don't be giving it up now that you have made it in. Things won't be getting any easier."

"Oh don't you worry about that. Trust me!"

"In that case, go ahead and head right in. Best of luck."

    “Thanks!”

Emi turned away from Glory and walked into the building toward the classroom. Everyone’s probably there already. Hopefully I can meet someone before classes start. She didn’t want to be left as the odd one out in the class without anyone to talk to at the end of the day. She picked up her pace and entered the classroom.

Most of the seats were already taken, so Emi settled for the only open one closest to the door. She set her bag down and assessed her surroundings. Everything seemed relatively normal. Well, except for the one guy who was standing on all fours in front of the teacher’s desk wolfing down what looked like monaka. A little strange, but nothing too jarring. Maybe he missed breakfast too.

Emi grabbed her notebook and pens from her bag and placed them on her desk. Then, she whipped around towards the young man sitting behind her.

Grinning from ear to ear, she decided to introduce herself. “Hi! The name’s Kikuchi. What’s yours?”

"Magic is out there, you know? You just have to look for it."

    Name: Emberlynn Grey

    Gender: Female
    Role: Standard
    Birthday: January 14th

    Appearance:

    Spoiler

    9fd8c9ab02f1e34e86f52cd2a262e929.jpg

    Height: 5' 1"

    Personality:

    Spoiler

Free-spirited, energetic and very imaginative, Emberlynn marches to the beat of her own drum. She usually has her head up in the clouds, finding it hard to focus on one specific thing at a time. She’s quite blunt in this regard, always speaking her mind. She pretty much does what she wants to without much regard for others, not wanting to be tied down by other people’s wishes.

Through the stories that her grandfather told, he tried to teach her that there’s magic in the world - you just had to go out and look for it. She knows how cheesy this is, but she’s always stuck by it. As such, Emberlynn is quite inquisitive, always looking for ways to learn and find excitement in what she does. She’s extremely ambitious, sets her goals as high as possible and will see them to completion no matter what. That is, when she does make a decision. Emberlynn is fairly indecisive, having trouble making big choices. She often considers both sides of a problem thoroughly before throwing all rational thought out the window and going off of her gut reaction.

    Biography:

    Spoiler

Many of Emberlynn’s fondest memories were of her sitting next to the fireplace, listening to her grandfather tell her stories. Emberlynn’s grandfather was an accomplished writer, archeologist, and - in Emberlynn’s opinion - a master storyteller. Throughout her life, he would entertain Emberlynn with countless stories of ancient heroes, courageous acts, monsters and gods walking amongst men. By sharing his passion for finding excitement in the world, Emberlynn was able to receive it and make it her own. While her grandfather expressed this thirst for adventure and excitement through his stories, Emberlynn expressed this through dueling. Emberlynn loved dueling almost as much as the stories her grandfather would tell, and would do so at any opportunity she got, even if she wasn’t the best at it.

Emberlynn could never earn enough money to buy a fancy duel disk or a top-of-the-line deck, she still made do with what she had available. By borrowing excess cards from friends and “finding” cards in other’s backpacks - totally not stealing them - Emberlynn was able to make a deck. She rarely won, but each setback inspired her to grow and get better.

Though Emberlynn begged her parents to buy her a duel disk, they saw it as a waste of their daughter’s time. Instead, they would stress the importance of her role in continuing the family business, one that has been run by the Grey family for generations. As such, they tried to push her towards science, mathematics, technology, and a whole bunch of other stuff she didn’t really care about. All she wanted to do was, well, she didn’t know, but she’ll figure that out soon enough. Just not business.

Right before she turned seventeen, Emberlynn’s grandfather passed away suddenly. This hit Emberlynn extremely hard, leaving her angry and bitter for a while. A few months after this event, when Emberlynn and her family were clearing out her grandfather’s house, they found a plain, cardboard box with Emberlynn’s name on it. Inside was a well-used duel disk, a deck, and a card. The card was addressed to Emberlynn, explaining that these were her grandfather’s old deck and duel disk, and that he wanted to give it to her for her seventeenth birthday. The deck had cards she only vaguely recognized from TV. Cards that were both monsters and spells? The concept was so foreign to her, yet it excited her.

After some light refurbishing to the disk, she was able to enter into a few tournaments throughout high school. Though she got some better results than she used to, she still wasn’t the greatest. However, she was determined to make this new deck her own.

As for college, she didn’t really care where she went. So just to appease her parents, she chose the college they both went to when they were her age. It was fairly close to home too, which was a bonus.

Of course, when she saw the flyers to join a dueling team, she had to do it. Hopefully they wouldn’t mind a freshman that doesn’t really know her own deck. Oh well, looks like they’re gonna have to deal with it.

    Deck and Ace:

    Spoiler

    Pendulum Magicians

A group of Pendulum exclusive Spellcaster-type monsters that focus on recycling themselves and swarming the field with some decent cohesion. They are not the strongest on their own, but they work well as support cards to other Pendulum archetypes. As such, Emberlynn’s ace monster is Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, a high leveled beatstick, due to a lot of the Magician’s effects supporting Odd-Eyes cards.

    Miscellaneous:

    Spoiler

    -Battle Music
-Emberlynn has always wanted to try Turbo Duels, but never had the opportunity to do so. She loves watching them on TV.
    -She loves chewing gum
    -Usually goes by Em
-Her favorite story is The Odyssey by Homer. Do not mention it unless you want your ears talked off.

  7. “That’s all for this week. You’re dismissed!”

Ugh, that’s all? It didn’t even have anything to do with me. I rushed over here for nothing.

Alice couldn’t believe she slept through her own alarm and almost missed the meeting. She’d only been here for a little while and didn’t want to make a bad impression on the other hunters. After throwing herself out of bed and rushing out her room she barely made it to the meeting. She barely even had time to make herself look presentable. All that for what?

By now the rest of the people in the building began to disperse, leaving to take care of the day's business. Well, most of them were at least. Some went into the break room, others were starting a fight on the other side of the room. As for Alice, a drink sounded really nice right about now. She headed straight for the kitchen and made a beeline for the fridge.

    Height: 5" 2'
    Weight: 109 lbs

    Personality:

    Spoiler

A bubbly and perky person by nature, Emi is very energetic. She’s never afraid to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger, and loves to meet new people. She’s extremely talkative, too much so at times, with most of her thoughts spilling out of her mouth. In this way, she can be a little blunt and a little too truthful, not thinking about what she says before she says it.

She does not have much control over her emotions, and is prone to be temperamental. She can be quick-tempered and emotional, especially in stressful situations.

One of her greatest fears is letting others down, and will go to great lengths to prevent it from happening. Emi highly values others’ trust in her. As such, when someone asks her to do something, she will try her best to do it, ignoring her own interests.

    Biography:

    Spoiler

Emi was born as an only child into a relatively normal family in southern Japan. From the time her Quirk began to develop, she was put into martial arts classes. Aside from that, in middle school she was involved in a number of different school organizations and clubs, spending most of her time with friends outside of the house.

When he was younger, Emi’s father wanted to be a Pro Hero. However, he failed the entrance exam to be entered into a hero program on multiple occasions, and was unable to live out his dream. His bitterness and jealousy from this stayed with him, and he carried it into fatherhood. On top of this, Emi’s Quirk had enormous combat potential. As such, her father greatly pressured Emi into applying for the hero program when she was of age.

Though Emi didn’t dislike the idea of becoming a Pro, she hated feeling she had to carry on her father’s failed ambitions. Maybe she’ll learn to like this whole hero thing once she starts taking classes in the fall.

    e313e9d48cce5af2ad428d0c5e147c1c.jpg

    Height: 5' 9"

    Personality:

    Spoiler

Alice is a girl of few words. She’s quiet, and does not input much into conversations unless she has to. Not that she doesn’t have an opinion, but she chooses not to share it. Due to constantly being overshadowed by her parents’ long work hours and the high standard set by her sister, she tries to stay out of the spotlight, sometimes deeming herself unworthy to be in it. She gives her actions and words a lot of forethought.

Alice cares deeply for other people, and will do whatever she can to help another person with whatever they need. She thrives off of seeing people happy, often willing to sacrifice her own happiness to help. As such, she can be easily taken advantage of. Sometimes she’s aware of this, but not often.

    Biography:

    Spoiler

Born in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, Alice lived as the youngest in a family of four. Not much of a risk taker, Alice didn’t live too exciting of a childhood. Most of her life was overshadowed by her ever-busy parents’ work and the successes of her older sister. Alice was never as athletic or smart as her sister. While her sister cruised through high school and ended up at a prestigious university, Alice didn’t. She decided on a community college where she could stay in the area she grew up in.

Coming home after a university event one evening, Alice realized she left her key inside, and reached for the spare under her door mat, only to find that it wasn’t there. She heard a scratching noise around the corner, and went to investigate, assuming a rodent took her key for some reason. Instead, there was a horrifying creature huddled in the alleyway corner holding her key - something that was difficult to physically describe with words. It rushed over to her and tackled her, its bony figure now looming over Alice’s panicked body. She instinctively grabbed a shard of glass on the ground and stabbed the creature in the neck. Its blood dripped onto her clothes and face, with a large spurt getting into her mouth. The creature grabbed her by the neck. Alice screamed. Everything around her began to feel warm; the creature recoiled in pain and let go of Alice. The stench of burned flesh wafted through the air as the creature scaled up the building in retreat.

“This isn’t happening…” she said, her voice as loud as a gunshot.

Maybe I’m dreaming. Yeah, that’s it.

She reached for her key on the ground, but passed out before she could grab it. Next thing Alice knew, she was… somewhere. Definitely not her room. More like an infirmary. Some people came to her bedside and explained everything.

Demons. Real? It can’t be. But what was that… thing last night? I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe they’re helping me get better. You know, fixing… whatever the hell is wrong with me.

    Gift:

    Spoiler

    Photovoltaic

Alice’s body absorbs and stores sunlight, and can convert it into other forms of energy. She’s able to tap into this stored energy to do a number of things such as generating heat and light from her body, strengthening her physical capabilities, and firing beams of pure solar energy. These can occur at varying intensities depending on how much energy she’s stored. However, if she uses too much energy at once or if she spends too much time away from sunlight, she will begin to feel tired and drained. Alice can also use her abilities to strengthen others, albeit to a much smaller degree than she can do for herself. To do this, there has to be direct contact between her and the person she wants to give energy to.

When she is actively using the energy she stored, her eyes become a vivid orange color.

  10. Willow and Flurry

    What

    Spoiler

Y'all ready? I'm heading for the top! You better watch out, 'cuz here we come!

    Name: Willow Meyers
    Age: Fifteen
    Gender: Female
    Hometown: Floccesy Town, Unova
    Description:

    Spoiler

    large.jpg

    Height: 5' 3"
    Weight: 109lbs

    Personality/Bio:

    Spoiler

Born and raised on a small dairy farm near Floccesy Town, Willow always wanted to travel the world. Though the Meyers rarely left town (and when they did, it was only to the neighboring cities of Asperita and Virbank) Willow imagination soared, often wondering what it would be like to live away from the farm.

Willow can be quite trusting of others, almost too much, believing pretty much everything she hears. Growing up in such a small town full of friendly people, there wasn't much reason to do otherwise.

For as long as she can remember, Willow worked on her parents' small dairy farm. From am early age, she was taught to be hard working and diligent in the things she does. She cannot stand to see something unfinished or incomplete, and always sees her goals to the end. This usually results in an "act now, think later" mentality, she tends to not think

Willow quickly grew tired of the farming life, and was amazed with the grand battles of the Pokemon World Tournament broadcast on television. She quickly realized that she wanted to become a Pokemon Trainer, travel the world, and maybe one day, become strong enough to compete in the PWT. Soon, she was hooked. She would have mock Pokemon battles with her friends using the Purrloins and Lillipups around the town. While these didn't always work out (the Pokemon would never listen), they were still exciting to Willow.

Word of MapCo's internship hit Unova, and Willow was immediately on board; this could be her ticket out! After applying online and a great deal of bartering and pleading with her parents, Willow was on her way to the Virbank port, bound for the region of Johto.

Her closest friend among the MapCo starter pokemon is Cranidos, who is protective of her.

    Spoiler

    Nature: Timid

    Characteristic: Highly Curious

Flurry is shy and skittish; easily frightened and non-confrontational. Conversely however, she is also inquisitive, and often wanders off to investigate something that catches her eye, only to come inevitably sprinting back when something startles her. Though she's fearful and reluctant to battle, Vulpix is a warm, gentle soul who genuinely cares for others around her, and will occasionally come out of her shell to offer help. Her closest friend among the MapCo starter pokemon is Cranidos, who is protective of her.
