on a serious note for void, what parts of ncm do you recommend for people who dont use the site often but want to b/c everyone's there now?

Hmm. If you're totally fresh, start with making a post in Introductions. Beyond there, it kinda depends on if you an card maker or a roleplayer. If you do cards, start in casual singles, while if you RP I'd start by browsing the RP Rules in Out-Of-Character Planning.

You could also post here in Miscellaneous to get a feel for the community.

What series, game book movie show etc, would you say is the one you're most into?

Sorry for the very late reply - not only has it been a very busy few weeks, but it also seems I did not have notifications to my Email enabled.

As for the question, tough one. I tend to fluctuate on what series I'm tied into on a seasonal basis.

Yu-Gi-Oh! has dominated most of those seasonal cycles since I discovered it 18 years ago, but has wained in recent years as I struggled to keep up with the meta, as well as our exodus from YCM to here on Neo diluting my exposure to it.

Next, I guess would be RuneScape - I've been an active member since 2006, and tied into its roleplaying community soon after. I even attended Runefest in 2013, possess signed concept art, as well as a Ring of Kinship made by one of the JMods, and even won an RS Gaming Chair which isn't available to purchase to the general public. Today I'm now the head admin for the RuneScape Roleplay Wiki, the central library for the collective lore we've established since the golden days. And while the roleplay community has declined into obscurity due to gradual player base attrition and a series of fundamental disagreements between factions (my appointment being one of them), I continue to play daily.

Beyond that, I'm a Star Wars nut, a Halo enthusiast, and generally, anything sci-fi is what I go for. I may dabble in other fantasy genres from time to time, but I'm very picky.

tl;dr: I rotate between Yu-Gi-Oh, RuneScape, Star Wars, and Halo, with some other stuff inbetween.

Konton Genma Armityle – Kyomu Gen’ei Rashoumon (Armityle the Chaos Phantasm – Hollow Phantom Life of Agony) / Armityle the Chaos Phantasm – Phantom of Fury
    DARK/Level 12/Fiend/Fusion/Effect/ATK 0/DEF 0
“Uria, Lord of Searing Flames” + “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder” + “Raviel, Lord of Phantasms”
    (1) This card’s name becomes “Armityle the Chaos Phantasm” while on the field.
    (2) Once per turn: You can give control of this card to your opponent.
    (3) Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card’s control changed this turn: Banish all cards you control, then this card’s owner can Special Summon 1 “Armityle the Chaos Phantasm” from their Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions.

Note: This card is a reference to Armityle’s effects in the anime that was not kept in the printed version. While Crunchyroll translated the name Johan/Jesse used for it as “Total Destruction and Reincarnation Wave”, that rather matches Armityle’s attack name, so we assume it is a mistake and ignore it.

So. You get to banish the opponent's entire field, and then get one free OG Armityle. Nice.

The only way they could have made this any better is if it was summoned by Dimension Fusion Destruction (which will be the primary fusion method, behind Verte targeting DFD), it would pass on the damage negation effect to the OG Armityle it summons.

If you're running the OG Armityle in your Sacred Beast build, you now need to pair it with this in the Extra Deck.

    <<CMD Officer: Commander [REDACTED] "VOID" S-013 - CIRCUS One>>

[AUTHORISED EYES ONLY - UNDER PENALTY OF EXECUTION - PER THE OFFICIAL SECRETS ACT OF 2550]

    <<DECRYPTING... STAND-BY>>

    <<Begin TRANSMISSION>>

Listen up, CIRCUS, because I’m only going to say this once. As you all remember, twelve months ago, the Office of Naval Intelligence dragged us from the smouldering wreckage of the UNSC after the ceasefire, ink’d our records black, and put us through hell to become SPARTANS.

CIRCUS Team - Phantom spartan misfits. We only had one objective: To participate in the testing of Project: ELDEWRITO, an experimental replacement for the existing Wargame simulations already being used by every other Spartan and their sainted mothers in the outer colonies. It might have been short-lived, but I’m proud to say we gave the techs all the technical and tactical data they could ever want - and personally, it was a blast.

Since then, you’ve all been twiddling your thumbs here on Anvil Station, waiting for an excuse to go out and kill something since the Carnival Protocol was enacted. Fuckin’ stupid name for a protocol if you ask me, but tell that to the spooks. Anyways. Well, the UNSC is finally going to reap the benefits of the project - and we’re going to dive headfirst into this new hell.

In 3 days, the UNSC will be deploying the Multiphased Combat Center for NCM Company. The next evolution in simulated combat - no longer tied to inferior, proprietary hardware, and with a vastly expanded set of wargame simulations, and objective scenarios directly reproduced from the viewpoints of critical individuals involved with the war against those Covy’ bastards.

This is where we’re coming in.

Orders came in from Colonel Rio last night at 00:23 hours.

“(Priority Alpha) >>Open the Hushed Casket.”

The Carnival is over. CIRCUS Team has been reactivated by Section 3. Operation: MARATHON begins when the MCC goes online.

    Objective: Finish the Fight.

Further intelligence will be dispatched via DISCORD Protocol communications across the next 72 hours. Until then, I’d polish your MJOLNIR up nice and take a picture of it - because once we’re finished, it’ll never look that shiny and new again.

    Dismissed.

    <<END TRANSMISSION>>

CIRCUS Team is being reactivated for the release of Halo 3, as part of the Master Chief Collection for PC! The CIRCUS Team group is now open for everyone to view and join. Join the NCM Discord and chat in #Gaming to arrange Halo game nights with us.

    See you on the 14th!

  5. This is expected to be the last batch of new cards for Sacred Beasts of Chaos. We’ve also had the full checklist printed, which you can find HERE.

We’ve also had confirmation that the TCG’s equivalent: Structure Deck: Sacred Beasts, will be arriving on July 10, 2020. However, the blurb seems to hint that Trilojig might not be arriving to the west so soon. Anyways, onto the final new cards.

    image0-153.jpg?resize=206,300&ssl=1

    Chaos Core
    DARK/Level 3/Fiend/Effect
    ATK/ 0 DEF/ 0

"You can only use this card name’s (1) effect once per turn.
(1): When this card is targeted by a card effect or for an opponent’s monster’s attack (Quick Effect): You can send up to 3 cards from your hand and/or Deck to the GY (1 each of “Uria, Lord of Searing Flames”, “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder”, and “Raviel, Lord of Phantasms”), and if you do, place 1 Phantasm Counter on this card for each sent to the GY, and if you do that, you take no battle damage for the rest of this turn.
(2): If this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can remove 1 Phantasm Counter from it instead."

I speculated this would be made into a real card since they revealed Dimension Fusion Destruction - the pair go great as a 2-card combo. Chaos Core allows you to stall for time with a single-turn battle damage nullification and multiple destruction negations, at the cost of milling the Sacred Beasts to the GY - which then could either be revived by Hyper Blaze, or used as material by DFD to quickly pull out Armityle or Trilojig. Just remember that it has to be targeted for battle, or destruction via card effect, by your opponent for it to set itself up.

You really only want this in your starting hand, while going first. I’d keep 1 copy in at all-times, and then side deck another for when you're in that scenario, and that once you’ve used it up, rush to use it as link material for Salamangreat Almirjat or another protective Link Monster.

    image1-2.jpg?resize=206,300&ssl=1

Konton no Shoukanshin / Chaos Summoning Beast
    DARK/Level 1/Fiend/Effect
    ATK/0 DEF/0

"You can only use this card name’s (1) and (2) effects once per turn each.

(1): You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 “Uria, Lord of Searing Flames”, 1 “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder”, or 1 “Raviel, Lord of Phantasms” from your hand, ignoring its Summoning conditions.

(2): You can banish this card from your GY; add 1 “Fallen Paradise” from your Deck to your hand."

HNGGH. Do you know how I said Dark Beckoning Beast was our best Sacred Beast support card yet? Well, this is a VERY close second.

Chaos Summoning Beast is basically the offspring of Dark Beckoning Beast and Dark Summoning Beast (don’t ask the logistics of that!), in that it can be tributed to Special Summon 1 Sacred Beast from your Hand - but with no restriction on attacking the turn it was summoned, and without needing to be tribute summoned, giving desperately-needed speed summoning of your beasty beatsticks.

“But wait, there’s more!” As once in the GY, it can be banished at any time and search out Fallen Paradise from your Deck, setting up immediate targeting and destruction protection for your Sacred Beasts and a +2 hand advantage each turn.

But do not think Dark Summoning Beast is obsolete - You still need to set up a Sacred Beast in your hand beforehand (though DSB’s GY effect, the next card, and DBB makes that trivial), and you’re still restricted to using each of Chaos’ effects once per turn.

Like DBB, you will find it essential to run 3 of these in your Main Deck.

    image2-1.jpg?resize=206,300&ssl=1

Shichisei no Kaimon / The Seven Spirit Gates Unleashed
    Continuous Spell

"You can only activate 1 card with this card’s name per turn.
(1): When this card is activated: You can add, from your Deck to your hand, 1 “Uria, Lord of Searing Flames”, 1 “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder”, 1 “Raviel, Lord of Phantasms”, or 1 monster that specifically lists any of those cards in its text.
(2): Once per turn: You can discard 1 card; Special Summon 1 Fiend monster with 0 ATK and DEF from your GY.
(3): Once per turn, if you control a Level 10 monster: You can add 1 Continuous Spell from your GY to your hand."

Do you want more search and recovery power? You’ve got it! This continuous spell card has 3 useful effects: one upon being activated, and two you can trigger once per turn. Also, note you can only use 1 card with the same name as itself per turn.

Firstly, when the card is first activated from your hand, you get a free search of your deck for any Sacred Beast or a monster that mentions any of them by name and add one to your hand. This is not as versatile as Beckoning’s searcher effect - but considering this can search Dark Beckoning Beast, Chaos Summoning Beast, and Dark Summoning Beast, it is still damm effective.

Second, during your turn, you can discard a card to the GY, to Special Summon 1 Fiend monster with 0 ATK and DEF from the GY. This is SO abusable, as you can just SS what you just discarded - Dark Summoning Beast benefits the most from this, but Chaos Summoning Beast can also use this if your Normal Summon for that turn has been exhausted. I can also see this being used to bring back material for link summons.

Finally, if you control a Level 10 monster (AKA: A Sacred Beast), you get a free Cibtubuous Spell recovery from the GY. This is not exactly as good as the monster SS - you’ll just be using this to recover another Spirit Gate or Cerulean Sky Fire that has been previously MST’d, but it's still a nice little bonus

Still, I’d stack 3 of these as well into your deck for the monster search and GY SS alone.

    image3.jpg?resize=206,300&ssl=1

Kakusei no Sangenma / The Sacred Beasts Awaken
    Continuous Trap

"1) This card gains these effects, depending on the number of “Uria, Lord of Searing Flames”, “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder”, and “Raviel, Lord of Phantasms” you control with different names.
    * 1+: Each time your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster(s), gain LP equal to their combined ATK.
    * 2+: Negate the activated effects of monsters that your opponent controlled when that effect was activated.
    * 3: Any monster sent to your opponent’s GY is banished instead.
    2) Once per turn, during your turn, if you control a Level 10 monster: You can add 1 Continuous Trap from your GY to your hand."

Finally, we come to one of the most potent utilities of Sacred Beasts, which ramps in intensity as you acquire more Sacred Beasts (with different names) on the field - all with a bonus Continuous Trap recovery to boot.

Let's start with trap recovery: Control a Level 10 monster, and you can return 1 Continuous Trap from your GY to your hand per turn. Just the same as before with The Seven Spirit Gates Unleashed, you won't be using this too often - and in this case, only to recover another copy of itself and Hyper Blaze.

With your first Sacred Beast, you gain LP equal to the ATK of all monsters that your opponent Normal or Special Summons. This is a passive effect for a start, meaning your opponent can’t shut this down with most trigger-counters, like Solemn. The LP boost itself is nice enough, and can help in a pinch to avoid being KO’d from heavy hitters - including “Raviel - Shimmering Scraper” should you be facing against the same deck. You can also take advantage of the LP difference between you and your opponent for Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula. However, be warned that Bad Reaction to Simochi and Darklord Nurse Reficule will turn this effect against you into a deadly burn.

Now with two, you get in the broken territory, as your opponent’s activated monster effects are negated. This essentially gives you a Skill Drain @3, that doesn't affect your own monsters, and cripples a good chunk of current meta. Get this working before your opponent is ready to set-up a boss monster, and its game. Just remember it only works on activated effects: Passive effects that, for example, prevent the destruction of a monster from battle or card effects, will still work.

Finally, if you have the complete trio, any monster your opponent sends to the GY is banished. This essentially is end-game frosting on the cake, as you’ll have at least 2 4K beatdowns on the field, Uria with whatever ATK he has accumulated and his set S/T clearance - against an opponent who has a monster with mostly-to-fully negated effects. The banishment will displace their monsters away from the GY, ensuring they can’t Special Summon something to prolong the duel.

These effects make The Sacred Beasts Rising a potent card, but not without counters and drawbacks. They are all dependent on maintaining their presence on the field, discouraging you from using the beasts as Fusion or Xyz material and keeping them as beatsticks with niche side effects. I’d recommend testing this at 2 in your main deck, then judge for yourself if 3 will hurt your consistency.

With that, this review is complete. I have to say, Sacred Beasts of Chaos looks set to be on a par to Lord of Magician R - reinventing a classic archetype into a modern, budget-friendly meta. I already have plans to build a deck when it arrives in the west, and you should too.

I’d like to give my thanks to The Organisation, for their quick translations and HQ images, and to my friend Iris for helping me implement these cards early on Duel Monsters Genesis for testing.

  6. “...Satisfaction has officially declared that their intention is to reach the Unity Stage, and occupy the entirety of Unity Square, to take advantage of media attention surrounding the last qualifiers of the Fortune Cup…”

While seemingly everyone in the Duelist Pit was enthralled by Blazing Roxy’s duel against her unfortunate opponent, one lanky individual near the back of the room was not: Asaka Yukio. He was as engrossed with his smartphone as his fellow competitor Aster, who has sat just three seats to the right of him.

Their respective devices expressed the very different personalities and ideologies of the two - though nobody, in reality, would discern the pair from such a mundane object.

Asaka’s smartphone was custom, but not in the sense it was bespoke-made for a wealthy citizen of the “Neo Domino bourgeoisie”, as the more radical elements of Satisfaction decry the residents of the Satellites. It was a collection of recycled and refurbished components, patched together by competent but inexperienced hands, and then brought to life by a wide library of open-source homebrew software. The final product was just as good as the modern equivalent - even if there was no warranty when he would eventually drop the screen and splinter the sapphire-crystal glass.

    “Bruuuzzzz.”

The motor spun within. A message - probably just from the network. Asaka had been browsing online for most of the day. His heart briefly fluttered at the thought he had used up his data cap - the fees for extra data on these contract are atrocious!

“One New Message. From: Bis. Grey.”

“Oh hell. Not now, PLEASEeeee.” immediately popped into his head, as well as a moderately scowled face.

It has been tense between himself and the Bishop the last couple of weeks - The Church had been continuing to bicker amongst itself, and now were clawing at the arrangements for the qualifying rounds. Asaka’s sponsorship had not been cheap, after all: D-Wheel, Pit Crew and Entry Fees alone cost the church a hefty five-figure fee, and some questioned his effectiveness in “purifying” the message of the Church of the Celestial. Yet again - he never thought of it as a real church - Grey wasn't even a real Bishop: It was just his first name, and a stupid one at that!

Still. He owed them a big debt. He tapped into the messages app, and onto the avatar of the greyed, elderly figure that was Bishop Grey.

“Can you video call us as soon as your done with the tournament organisers today? Thanks, B. Grey.”

The scowl receded, followed by a small smirk slid onto an otherwise worn face - the old man always signs his texts like they were an old-fashioned E-Mail. Clasping the back of the phone with both of his ungloved hands, he tapped away with his thumbs a quick reply

    “Will do.”

With that, Asaka slid away from the device into the left breast-pocket of his leathers and returned his amber eyes to the warmth of the monitors… only then to realise not only that Roxy had wrecked her opponent, but everyone was enthralled by an announcement coming from the main door into the room.

"But today there is a special announcement I must make. See, one of the competitors has retreated from the race, and their place has been reassigned. The lady who has just graced her with her presence is madame Lydia Maupin, representative of the duelling circuit of Paris."

What? Who the heck lost their nerve and dropped out, Asaka pondered. But it was a fleeting thought  - the mystery that was his mind turned to the fact that madame Lydia was french. Foreign languages where never his forte in school. God forbid if he would have to draw on that knowledge in a duel - if god, or gods, existed, in Asaka’s mind.

  7. We've got a bunch of new cards revealed for Sacred Beasts of Chaos, as well as some confirmed reprints:

    Confirmed Reprints (as of 13/02/20):

    • Raviel, Lord of Phantasms
    • Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder
    • Uria, Lord of Searing Flames
    • Dark Summoning Beast
    • Fallen Paradise
    • Phantasmal Martyrs
    • Armityle, the Chaos Phantasm
    • Phantasm Emperor Trilojig

We're also getting two new Tokens with this deck: A Phantasm Token, and a Phantasmal Martyrs Token.

    PhantasmToken.jpg?resize=206%2C300&ssl=1PhantasmalMartyrToken.jpg?resize=206%2C3

    New Cards (12/02/20)

    RavielFist.jpg?resize=206%2C300&ssl=1

Genmaoh Raviel – Tenkai Juurinken / Raviel, Lord of Phantasms – Heaven Crushing Fist (Dub: Raviel, Lord of Phantasms – Shimmering Scraper)
    DARK / Fiend / Effect
    LV10 4000/4000

"Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 3 monsters.
You can only use this card name’s (1) and (2) effects once per turn each.
    (1) (Quick Effect): You can discard this card, then target 1 “Raviel, Lord of Phantasms” you control; for the rest of this turn, its ATK is doubled, also it can attack all monsters your opponent controls, once each.
    (2) If this card is in your GY: You can Tribute 1 monster; add this card to your hand."

I find this a rather weird implementation - it feels like it should have been an Equip Spell Card for Raviel, but was changed to be in line with Hamon and Uria's support: all 3 being the same card type as used to summon them by their own effect. It can't even be used as a substitute Raviel for Armtiyle. Either way, this card can be discarded from the hand to make Raviel a Stardust Charge Warrior with 8K ATK for a single turn, and then be recycled back to the hand for your next turn for 1 tribute: assuming that either Raviel isn't blown up, or that you even need the next turn. I can also see this being used alongside a plethora of discard effects and Phantom of Chaos for an additional 4k beatstick alongside your existing Raviel. I'd run this at just one in a Sacred Beast deck - It can be an OTK if you start second and draw a good starting hand, but can also quickly become a garnet.

    NewSummoningBeast.png?resize=206%2C300&s

Ankoku no Shouraishin / Dark Beckoning Beast
    DARK / Fiend / Effect
    LV2 0/0

"You can only use this card name’s (1) effect once per turn.
    (1) When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 “Uria, Lord of Searing Flames”, 1 “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder”, 1 “Raviel, Lord of Phantasms”, or 1 card that specifically lists any of those names in its text from your Deck to your hand, except “Dark Beckoning Beast”.
    (2) During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 1 Fiend monster with 0 ATK and DEF, in addition to your Normal Summon/Set (you can only gain this effect once per turn)."

By far, Dark Beckoning Beast is the best support card we've had revealed in Sacred Beasts of Chaos so far. While lacking any offensive stats, this Level 2's two effects are brilliant: Upon being Normal Summoned, you have a free choice of adding any of the Sacred Beasts, or any card that specifically mentions them by name, from your Deck to your Hand (excluding itself). Most of the time, this will be for Dark Summoning Beast - which synergises nicely with Beckoning's second ability - an additional Normal Summon of 1 Fiend monster with 0 ATK & DEF per turn. This essentially makes Beckoning a no-tribute version of Dark Summoning Beast, while at the same time thinning your deck of beasts you can't summon. If you don't intend to summon a Dark Summoning Beast, you can always use Transmodify on it to bring out Sangen and get that sent to the GY to search out a hand trap, or a Tour Guide of the Underworld for a Link/XYZ next turn.

TL;DR: You need 3 of these in any Sacred Beast Deck.

    BigThunderEnergy.png?resize=206%2C300&ss

Shitsuraku no Hekireki / Lightning Strike of Paradise Lost (Dub: Cerulean Sky Fire)
    Continuous Spell Card

"(1) To Special Summon “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder” using its own procedure, you can send face-down Spells you control to the GY instead of face-up Continuous Spells (or any combination of both).
    (2) Once per turn, when an opponent’s activated Spell/Trap Card or effect resolves while you control an Attack Position “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder”, you can negate that effect, then change 1 “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder” you control to Defense Position.
    (3) If “Uria, Lord of Searing Flames”, “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder”, or “Raviel, Lord of Phantasms” you control leaves the field: You take no damage for the rest of this turn."

Cerulean Sky Fire is one of those cards which looks good on paper but turns out to be deeply flawed in reality.

Its first effect of allowing the use of any face-down Spell Card as a substitute for a face-up Continuous Spell as a tribute for Hamon seems clever - until you realise that 95% of the time you will be summoning Hamon via Dark Summoning Beast anyways and that the spells in your deck that would have to sacrifice would be quite valuable, and in reality, I would consume this card as part of the tribute and lose out on the other effects. The only time I would use this was if my opponent was using something like Anti-Spell Fragrance, and that presumes I had activated Sky Fire beforehand.

Cerulean's second effect is the "best": Once per turn, if I control an Attack Position Hamon, I can negate the effect of an opponent's Spell/Trap card by switching Hamon to Defence. This synergises with Hamon's own effect, directing any of your opponent's attacks to a 4K blocker. This is useful for preventing your opponent using staples like Monster Reborn and Raigeki, and in a pinch can save Hamon from an unexpected Mirror Force. If you have this available to play, then you should prioritise the summon of Hamon over Uria and Raviel.

Cerulean's final effect is rather bland: If Uria, Hamon or Raviel leave the field, no more damage (battle or effect) for the rest of the turn. Note this doesn't prevent battle damage involving them if they are destroyed in battle: Damage Calculation occurs before destruction during the Damage Step. So it might still be game over even with Cerulean Sky Fire on the field.

In short, I'd experiment with 2 copies so far, and see how effective they are, and then evaluate if you can make do with just the 1.

    HyperBlaze.png?resize=206%2C300&ssl=1

    Hyper Blaze
    Continuous Trap Card

"(1) To Special Summon “Uria, Lord of Searing Flames” using its own procedure, you can send face-down Traps you control to the GY instead of face-up ones (or any combination of both).
    (2) When an attack is declared involving your “Uria, Lord of Searing Flames”: You can send 1 Trap from your hand or Deck to the GY; its ATK/DEF becomes 1000 x the number of Traps on the field and in the GYs for the rest of this turn.
    (3) Once per turn: You can discard 1 card; take 1 “Uria, Lord of Searing Flames”, “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder”, or “Raviel, Lord of Phantasms” from your GY, and either add it to your hand or Special Summon it, ignoring its Summoning conditions."

The final reveal today is Hyper Blaze, and in many ways is similar to Cerulean Sky Fire - only better. Its first effect is identical to Cerulean's, only it focuses on Uria and the use of any face-down Trap for tribute. While most Sacred Beast decks are only going to have Solemns and Return from the Dark Dimension, Uria-centered Burn decks might see Hyper Blaze as a way to diversify their repertoire of traps without compromising on Uria's summoning conditions.

Uria's second effect is more direct and compensates for Uria's crippling weakness - Total dependency on Continuous Traps in the graveyard for ATK power. By discard a trap from the Hand or Deck to the GY, Uria's ATK becomes equal to the number of traps (note: any trap, not just continuous) in all graveyards x1000, until the end of the turn. That can easily turn Uria into the strongest monster on the field during the late-game, though this effect shouldn't make Uria your priority to summon. There also might be some traps that could take advantage of being sent directly from the Deck to the GY.

Hyper Blaze's final effect is the highlight, finally giving us an effect the Sacred Beasts were stripped of when they became real cards - revival. Once per turn, for only a discard, we can either add to our hand or Special Summon 1 of the 3 Sacred Beasts. Apart from the general greatness of this effect, the discard can be used to send Dark Summoning Beast to the graveyard, ready for Phantom of Chaos to take advantage.

Like Cerulean Sky Fire, I'd start off with 2 of these. I'm not sure if you would want to change beyond that yet - it all depends on how long you can protect your beasts with other cards.

  8.

    Just now, Darj said:

The heck? It's a freaking meta massacre.

Aye, its a bloodbath. I'd say its clearing the way for new meta, once the updated rules come into effect in April.

I've had to pretty much rebuild all my decks on Duel Monsters Genesis to salvage what I can. The limiting of Demise is what I consider the most damaging. It cripples anything that doesn't have either its own draw power or a compatible draw engine.

At least now Solemn Warning is at 3.

  9. First new card for the Sacred Beast structure deck has been revealed, and its the debut of an anime-only card.

    731_20200109064341_img_1_mxXbQxuU5lAMUGs

Jigen Yuugou Satsu / Dimension Fusion Destruction
    Spell Normal
    (1) Special Summon 1 “Phantom”* Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, by banishing its materials from your hand, field, and/or GY, ignoring its Summoning conditions. You take no damage from battles involving the Special Summoned monster. If you control “Uria, Lord of Searing Flames”, “Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder’, or “Raviel, Lord of Phantasms”, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this card’s activation.

*Note: Due to weirdness in how the Sacred Beasts were translated from the OCG to the TCG, this could theoretically be abused to unintendedly summon other fusion monsters such as Chimera the Mythical Flying Beast, who is considered a Phantom Beast by rule text. So, expect errata changes when it makes it over to the west. Currently, in the OCG this card can be used to only summon Armityle and Trilojig.

Been testing this on Duel Monsters Genesis, and I can say this for sure makes summoning Armityle much easier, now that you can have his materials also in the hand or GY. Means you only need to use 1-2 Dark Summoning Beasts now to set him up. The no battle damage buff also covers one of Armityle's gaping flaws, but not the other - a big stinking lack of protection, leaving us still relying on Fallen Paradise. The Speed Spell 4 clause for having one of the materials on the field is little consolation if it can still be Raigeki'd the next turn.

The wording of "Phantom" monsters could be hinting at a retrain of Armityle, or other chimeric fusions of the beasts, so we'll just have to wait and see. The deck will include the 3 Sacred Beasts and Armityle as reprints.

  10. It has been a good haul this year. Took longer because someone in the family was being lazy, after complaining about us not staying up too late on Christmas Eve. But here is the primary haul.

    1. Intel i7-9700K Processor. This one was kinda weird, as I paid for 2/3rds of it myself, and ordered it myself. My parents trusted me to handle my techy purchases. It even almost never made it - DHL delayed the shipment from Taiwan and only made it to my door with a day to spare. Took me most of the day to gut out my PC and rebuild it with the 9700k, along with a new(ish) motherboard I had bought in anticipation for it. The old parts will be sold on to let me continue upgrading it - mainly an AIO cooler to replace the hazardously sharp tower cooler I have now, and maybe some 3200Mhz DDR4 RAM.
    2. £85. MONEY MONEY MONEY.
    3. Fake Gold Bullion Piggy Bank. this one was funny. I've been playing more GTA: Online with the release of the Casino Heist update. Seems appropriate someone with my vast online criminal enterprise would have a solid kilo bar of gold as a paperweight. Dunno if my parents knew, or just got lucky. I guess the latter - they don't dare go into my room.
    4. Spider-Man: Far from Home DVD. I don't get to go to the movies often, so I saved my trip this year for The Rise of Skywalker after boxing day. This makes up for missing it in cinemas.
    5. Mini USB Vacuum Cleaner. For when I eat too many Tortilla Chips over the keyboard while watching Spider-Man.
    6. Haribo. Because I've yet to contract Diabetes.
    7. Body Sprays and "Smellies". I get the picture.

A surprising lack of pants and socks this year - there was a policy of "if it ain't on Amazon, your not gettin' it." due to work timetables being so tight. There was also an emotional moment: My sister burst into tears, followed shortly after by my mom and grandfather when she was gifted my late grandmother's necklace, after being cleaned up at the jewellers. I didn't have the same impact since I already knew. Parents were also pleasantly surprised when my uncle gifted my parents a £300 gift voucher to a 5-star spa and hotel. It is actually where the NATO Summit was hosted this year.

One downside. Dad pissed me off and I couldn't say a word. I don't eat Turkey (makes me feel ill), so he bought me an absolute beast of prime sirloin steak... and just ruined it! He just bunged it in the oven without seasoning and turned it into a well-done, dried roast! And I had to put on a fake smile as to not ruin Christmas dinner. GRAH. *Flips table.*

    Rear Admiral Ghanem:

I respect your tenacity in your thorough questioning of several ONI officials, and I personally have the greatest of respect for you for what you have lost in the line of duty to the UNSC. Neither of us will forget what she did to us and the others on Reach, will we?

But with the strongest possible terms, I insist that our official stance regarding the Office of Naval Intelligence’s involvement with SPARTAN Operations has not changed.

Circa January 1st, 2553, all SPARTAN-III and IV supersoldiers are under the sole command of SPARTAN branch while remaining SPARTAN-IIs remain under the command of the UNSC Navy’s Special Forces Division. The Office of Naval Intelligence maintains no direct control of any SPARTAN operatives and associated military projects under any circumstances. Our only involvement with SPARTANS Operations since the end of the war with the Covenant (apart from the usual intelligence) has been strict with the continuing refinement of Project ORCHID’s augmentation program, and the internal development of specialist MJOLNIR variations.

Any suggestion that the Office of Naval Intelligence is interfering with the training and deployment of SPARTAN supersoldiers, let alone a supposed “SPARTAN Skunkworks” by Section Three, is a very serious allegation.

Out of personal respect of yourself and your rank, I have taken it upon myself to indulge your request for an investigation, cross-referencing the service number you provided one of my subordinates during a heated discussion. It was found to be invalid: no individual, civilian or military, within the UEG has ever been issued with that identification.

Your other submissions regarding “CIRCUS” are just mere fantasy - Captain Richards has stated that no unit under NAVSPECWAR has ever had a fireteam with this designation. At best, this “CIRCUS” is in all likelihood a colloquial nickname of an existing deployment in the Marine Corps. Unlike yourself, many parts of the UNSC do have a sense of humour.

With that, I consider this matter closed Musa. I would rather not have the Security Council begin to question your place as the Commander-in-Chief of SPARTAN Operations over a non-issue.

    Serin Osman,

    Admiral

    Colonel Rio:

We have a problem. Rear Admiral Ghanem has been asking questions about CIRCUS for weeks and it's caught the attention of Serin herself. As you can see, I’ve attached a copy of her reply.

Musa is not an ignorant man and Serin probably suspects my hand in all of this. Their connections to the other SPARTAN-II washouts will eventually uncover the damning evidence (Ronald’s involvement is sure to be a red flag).

Your duty is clear: Operation: Carnival is to go into effect. I’ll keep Section Zero and HIGHCOM blinded however I can.

    [22/09/2558]

Been tinkering with the old GEN 1 suits with the technicians during downtime. Microengineering has allowed us to strip out redundant subsystems and supplant them with the upgraded modules from discarded GEN 2 components. Though the colonel may be furious when he learns that this MIGHT have disabled the fail-safe detonation system, it means this mothballed equipment can be tuned individually to make up for shortfalls in the different augmentations each SPARTAN program used.

We’ve also managed to crack the kernel security on the Mark VI BIOS [S43.3945782.01], and found a bunch of incomplete firmware we can make use of. With some butchered rewiring of armour modules, we’ve been able to enable the following portable enhancements with the MK. VI:

    • “KAT” Kinetic Actuator Turbocharge - Invented and named after B-320, we’ve been able to interweave her safety limiter override protocol into the suit itself, and can be toggled with a killswitch depending on the desired combat scenario.

    • Z-5080 Short-Range Spectrum Augmenter/Vision - Salvaged Forerunner hardware from Requiem has been made compatible with MK VI helmet, enabling the tracking of targets and equipment via thermal imaging. Limited tracking capabilities of cloaked targets possible, but has visual artefacts due to lack of translation software.

    • Series 1 Portable Fusion Power Bank - A bank of 77 miniaturized power cores are hotwired into MJOLNIR’s energy shield matrix, giving a brief period of nigh-invulnerability before the cores fizzle out and require a total replacement.

    • “REP’s Fist” - A personal project by Ronald, this module takes the Series 1 Power Bank and uses the entire charge as a single pulse at either fist, which then detonates as an explosive blast upon contact with the ground. Somehow, the user is left unharmed...

    • Type-27 Responsive Holographic Form Emulator - Reverse-engineered Covenant technology, used to generate a holographic decoy of the user for a short period.

    • X390 Kinetic Neurostimulation Package - A cocktail of adrenals and other experimental drugs are injected at the base of the spine, reducing reaction time during close-quarters combat by 50% for a short period.

    • RF Shield Prototype 1 - Semi-functional prototype, salvaged from the ONI scrap pile. Plans suggested intended functionality was to deflect “heavy yield” projectiles away from user by dynamically reshaping suit’s energy shield. (Investigate: MK VII shield system retrofit?)

    • Type-3/1 Refraction Dissonance Modifier/Vehicular - Human-modified Covenant active camouflage unit. Bends light around a vehicle the user is currently interfacing with, including themselves and any passengers. Modification of bafflers to cover such mass renders each unit single-use before total failure.

We’re not expecting any more breakthroughs due to the lockdown. CIRCUS will get to test them out soon enough in the next round of simulations. ~V

    SPECWAR//Group Seven//CIRCUS Team

ONI Preliminary Report - 19/03/2558 - Edward Rio, Colonel, CIRCUS, Commanding Officer

Not exactly what I had in mind when I asked for permission to establish a SPARTAN fireteam under group seven. Insubordinate rejects, washed-up failures, ne'er-do-wells, walking wounded, and even an actual pirate. I suppose it makes sense- the SPARTAN branch probably got ahold of all the operatives without disciplinary and medical issues years ago. Nonetheless, very disappointing. I ask for soldiers, and instead, I get a bunch of clowns. At least the name fits.

ONI Evaluation Report - 28/03/2558 - Edward Rio, Colonel, CIRCUS, Commanding Officer

This lot has piqued my curiosity with their… unorthodox training methods. They have repurposed our prototype wargames simulator and the mothballed [GEN 1] MK. 6 MJOLNIR Armor we requisitioned for them into a form of amusement for themselves and their unaugmented comrades assigned to NCM company. This is unexpected, as many of them are experienced veterans from various campaigns, from the Fall of Reach and New Mombasa to Onyx and Requiem and beyond. I'll admit, like the menagerie of men and women that now hang on their every word, I've laughed at their antics on more than one occasion. I find their incessant taunting and immaturity strangely cathartic, even if I cannot help but question whether or not their protracted service has wreaked irreversible harm and havoc upon these poor souls' sanity.

ONI After-Action Report - 10/04/2558 - Edward Rio, Colonel, CIRCUS, Commanding Officer

I must admit, I had my doubts about this bunch of misfits at first, but they’ve managed to pull together. Their first Op was a resounding success, even if they diverted from the planned extraction coordinates to, quote, “Play another game of Oddball”.

I’m requesting permission to recruit additional operatives from the pool of SPARTAN-IV recruits, preferably candidates that fit in with the rest. I’m sure SPARTAN won’t have a problem parting with their worst offerings.

In addition, I’ve decided to begin broadcasting the team’s “Training Sessions” to NCM company as a whole- its done wonders for morale.

    -END OF REPORT-

CIRCUS Team is looking for members to join for casual matches and minigames in Halo: Online - the unofficial port of Halo 3 multiplayer to the PC by the Eldewrito team (And eventually the PC Master Chief Collection). UNSC Personal Evaluations: CIRCUS TEAM

Commander SPARTAN [REDACTED] "VOID" - CIRCUS One - Urban Pacification

    Spoiler

    hJXX1jm.png

    Unit: SPECWAR/GROUPSEVEN/CIRCUS

    Enlistment Date: CLASSIFIED

    Location: CLASSIFIED

    Gender: Male

    Birthplace: XXX

    Birth Date: XXX/XXX/XXX

    Combat Specialisation: Urban Pacification

    Performance Rating: LETHAL

One of the founding members of CIRCUS Team, there is little to read between all the black ink [note - I was quite sure ONI was redacting page numbers at one point]. All I know is the rumours around his career as an ODST, and the data leaking in regards to Operation: WHITE GLOVE. “Void” as we call him (his name and full rank is also redacted) is quiet, technically-skilled, proficient with multiple forms of field combat, and yet utterly lacking in proper communications skills and possessed of a frankly terrifying sense of “humour”. You wouldn’t consider him the right candidate to found and direct such a unique fireteam, but it's worked so far. Probably because the rest of the team is far too scared of what he might do if they disobey his orders.  Luckily for everyone involved, he has a firm grasp of tactics and strategy.

Warrant Officer SPARTAN Yui Yurican - CIRCUS Two - Guerilla Warfare

    Enlistment Date: CLASSIFIED

    Location: CLASSIFIED

    Gender: Male

    Birthplace: XXX

    Birth Date: XXX/XXX/XXX

    Combat Specialisation: Guerilla Warfare

    Performance Rating: DEADLY

One of the first to be inducted into CIRCUS Team, Yui shows a relaxed attitude with a slight detachment to reality: Normally a dangerous mixture in a SPARTAN, this is encouraged and flourished as effectiveness in the field when applied to CIRCUS Team. Expert in ambush tactics and taking long strolls through fields of corpses. Received demerits during his tenure with the marine corps for lack of situational awareness and a tendency to quote “Wander off.” Gets overwhelmed easily in direct firefights. Best when left to his own devices- he’ll lay a perfect trap and still have time to stop and smell the roses.

Chief Petty Officer Thar B-164 - CIRCUS Three - Marksman

    Gender: Male

    Birthplace: XXX

    Birth Date: XXX/XXX/XXX

    Combat Specialisation: Marskman/Sniper/Long Range Combat

    Performance Rating: DANGEROUS

Ah, Thar. A prime example of my initial misgivings with the personnel available to Circus Team. A consummate marksman, his abilities in other areas are… lacking, to say the least. Combined with his horrible attitude, it's a wonder he was selected for removal from Beta company in the first place. And for what purpose, I cannot fathom (and will likely never know- his file is covered in nearly as much black ink as Void’s).

That being said, the rapport he has managed to develop with the rest of the team has made him an invaluable asset in his own right. Put simply, the guys love him, and at this point, going into an operation without Thar would be unthinkable from a moral perspective. Not to mention, as Rep has so eloquently pointed out, “He shoots good.”

Warrant Officer "Rep" Ronald S-203 - CIRCUS Four - Point Man

    Enlistment Date: CLASSIFIED

    Location: CLASSIFIED

    Gender: Male

    Birthplace: XXX

    Birth Date: XXX/XXX/XXX

    Combat Specialisation: Frontal Assault

    Performance Rating: LETHAL

Circus Team’s first SPARTAN-II, and quite frankly one of the toughest men I have ever seen. Brawny, even by SPARTAN standards, “Rep” (using his actual name tends to result in violence) is big on bravado, bullets, and breaking things. He doesn’t have time for things like “planning” or “patience” or “thinking”, preferring instead to punch all of his problems first (or blast them with a shotgun shell) and worry about the consequences never. The source of a large share of the lunacy that is Circus Team’s comms chatter, he’s become something of a favourite among the enlisted men, as evidenced by the following note we found in the latrines:

The List of things Rep can punch out-

Rockets, Sniper Rounds, Sarge’s Warthog, Sarge’s other Warthog, Scorpion Tank Shells, Scorpion Tanks, MAC Rounds, HAVOK warheads, a brute chieftain, suicide grunts, Installation 04, Installation 08, 343 Guilty Spark, All of Circus team (At once), All of NOBLE team (At once), All of Blue Team (Except John-117), Sarge’s other other Warthog, The Arbiter, That one Elite nobody likes, Bungie…..

    It goes on and on.

    2

Lieutenant “Zai” Leon-BXXX - CIRCUS Six- Asymetrical Warfare

    Spoiler

    PCg8eag.jpg

    Unit: SPECWAR/GROUPSEVEN/CIRCUS

    Enlistment Date: CLASSIFIED

    Location: CLASSIFIED

    Gender: Male

    Birthplace: XXX

    Birth Date: XXX/XXX/XXX

    Combat Specialisation: Close Quarters Combat

    Performance Rating: LETHAL? (PENDING VERIFICATION)

CIRCUS team’s newest hand… and something of a wildcard. Willingly dropped out of SPARTAN and volunteered for Circus team himself (though he insisted on being number six… when we only had five members). The file is heavily redacted (even his service tag has been stricken)- all I’ve managed to dig up on this SPARTAN-III from the war or prior is that he got brained by a Brute Chieftan’s gravity hammer on Reach. Somehow managed to survive and make it to CASTLE base, where he promptly entered a coma and stayed that way until after the war was over. Assigned to fireteam CRIMSON during the Requiem campaign where he racked up an impressive record against the Prometheans and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant.

Says he’s “rusty” and not quite over the damage that space ape did to his noggin, but if that’s true then I shudder to think of what he was capable of before his injury. Leon specializes in uneven fights. One on one, he’s your typical SPARTAN III: highly skilled- works best in concert with his fireteam… However, against superior numbers, a skilled opponent, or other difficult obstacles, he excels, showing incredible tenacity even by SPARTAN standards. Tends to break killstreaks in training matches. Also has one hell of a grenade-throwing arm.
