why the FUCK is a major news outlet like NBC reporting autist inspiration porn in the year of our Lord 2023 and not even giving the autistic kid a chance to answer any of the questions in the interview

i mean, fair enough, but even though i dont know much about journalism issues i dont think this counts as one. the whole segment i complained about was about <30s or so and was part of a larger ~3 minute segment on "good news stories". this wasn't "bad journalism" it was a basic failure to respect human dignity, as for the good-news event to have happened so they could report on it in the first place, there had to be some kind of communication from the autie about his interests, but they suspiciously denied that in the interview segment and only let the mother talk even though the child was by her side looking into the camera
i sat through a whole segment of ads for this? but now looking into it i'm not surprised given that self-confirmed final solution seeker groups are who they invest their PR in on this topic as recently as last year so the question becomes, what the hell do we do to push back on that
