  1.     It's once again time for the annual World Duel Nexus, a month long festival where duelists from around the world gather in teams to compete in specialized dueling tournaments, from Fusion and Xyz specialists to Entertainment and tag duelists, there's sure to be an event for everyone, all coming together in a team battle royal where points earned from winning events can be used to earn special cards to aid you and your allies. This year, to celebrate the twelfth anniversary of the event, a special set of cards has been released exclusively for competitors including the zodiac themed "Astrograhm" monsters, an archetype of low level monsters that can be discarded to summon a monster of the same attribute. A strange man has been seen challenging those seeking to collect the Astrograhms to duels and asking them to join his team for the festival, claiming to cover any travel expenses as well as entrance fees, but can a team of strangers really compete with company and country sponsored teams? and who is this mysterious man putting together "Team Fortune"?

the RP would consist of two main halves. first a series of "Event Duels" where team representatives compete in specialized duels with unique rules and/or win conditions designed to best bring out the event's theme aspect of dueling. i these Event Duels winning the duel itself isn't nessecary, intead duelists are scored based on various aspects of their performance such as number of turns, resources used, combo's, ect. the second half would be a series of team action duels where action cards are "purchased" using points earned from winning previous Event Duels, any team member can use Victory Points to gain Action Cards so teamwork is key, who needs the additional resources? and when should they be saved for? a particularly selfish team member or unwise choice could lead the whole group to defeat.

    Name - Marcel Agen

    Age - 16

    Gender - Male

    Hometown - Laverre City, Kalos

    Description

    Spoiler

    Marcel by inkescher

a pale kid with a particularly slim build, black hair, and deep blue eyes Marcel looks more like a ghost than a person. at an unusual six foot one he's at least a head taller than most of his peers, though you'd never know due to his horrendous posture bringing him closer to five foot eleven. Marcel tends to wear a pair of beat up black running shoes, grey skinny jeans and tank tops, and his old black hoodie with torn up sleeves that somehow manage to be to long and cover his hands most of the time. He carries most of his things in a black cinch bag that he lazily throws over his shoulder.

    Personality/Bio

    Spoiler

Marcel grew up with his father, a prominent Kalos breeder that specialized in raising and training Dark Pokemon, and would often help his father at his daycare with caring for the eggs and newly hatched Pokemon. He quickly became infatuated with the Ghost and Dark types his father raised and would take any opportunity he could to spend time with them, often preferring the company of the Pokemon over other kids claiming they were "easier to be around". His concern for his team makes him a somewhat tricky opponent, often basing his individual Pokemon's strategies on how best to prevent them from being attacked, this does somewhat hinder him though as he relies less on attacking and more on moves that defend his Pokemon and let him wait out the clock.

due to his working with his father he wasn't able to go on his own journey but was, for a time, content hearing about his fathers adventures. When Marcel heard about the Trainer Internship Program he immediately filled out an application and sent it in before even telling his dad, hoping it could be his chance to become a strong Dark and Ghost trainer. after a long and drawn out discussion about how long he'd be gone, what he'd be doing, and of course how often he'd call home, Marcel was allowed to go on the condition that he take one of his fathers younger purebred Pokemon, something he agreed to immediately as the purebreeds were usually off limits to him.

Marcel is less interested in challenging gyms than the typical trainer and more wants to study various Pokemon and trainers to determine how he can become the best trainer for his team.

Despite her indifference to her trainer she recognizes him as the son of the man who raised her and will stay by his side during his journey, feeling it's her job to protect him and any Pokemon he acquires along the way.

  3.     "How did we end up like this?" Sanwitch thought as they sat quietly in their seat, stuck between the feathered wings of an angel and that monstrous hunk of metal Melanie called a tool. "Every time there's a vehicle we end up stuck in the middle seat. Every. Single. Time. It's probably our size. Serafine was taller." they reasoned, looking at their "other body" sat on their lap until it was suddenly thrown forward by the vehicle braking, dragging their attention to the soldiers escorting the group.

"Checkpoint 7-b's empty. I don't like the looks of this." one of them spoke into the intercom, irritating the druid to no end as it most likely meant more time stuck in the cramped transport.

when the opportunity arose Sanwitch nearly jumped out of their seat to escape the confines of the overdrive, even if it meant they'd have to partake in removing whatever roadblock had stopped them. They were barely able to grab their staff, figuring they could use some sort of plant's roots to dig through the rubble and dirt, as they were nearly pushed out the vehicle by the return of their least favorite begrudging ally, Gardna, from his meditation.

"I will follow. What shall you have me do?" the living shield's voice was magnificent, not so much that he compared to Kelova, but enough to stir memories of memories they couldn't quite place to Serafine or Sangan; and that left a bitter taste in Sanwitch's mouth.

Tapping their wooden staff against the shield to garner his attention, much like a child would to a parent, Sanwitch quickly explained their plan "We were hoping to plant roots to ensure the ground beneath us was safe in the least but to cover such a large area will take some time. We also hoped if a surprise attack occurred you might warn us and protect our vessel until we're finished." They gestured towards the floating furball next to them, which in turn gestured to the air mimicking Sanwitch.

    Description

    Spoiler

    Image result for sanwitch

    Personality

    Spoiler

Sanwitch is a composite of the two beings they’re mind is made of, Serafine was clever and conniving while Sangan was on the more innocent side, mischievous at best but not wanting to involve himself with others. Sanwitch is certainly intelligent and desperate to go back to being two separate people they aren’t particularly interested in using others unless they see absolutely no other option. They particularly enjoy quiet moments of contemplation when they can relax.

    Backstory

    Spoiler

A fusion of the demon Sangan and a witch named Serafine. The pair met in an underworld prison after a wild night around town. Sangan, in a panic to escape conviction for a crime he didn't commit, was easily convinced by the clever three eyed witch to perform a magical ritual that fused the two together in order to escape. This new form, which the combined minds called “Sanwitch”, was quickly released as, just like Serafine intended, they couldn’t be detained by underworld law as “Sanwitch” is considered a separate individual from the two cellmates.
Sanwitch quickly discovered that the power they held as Serafine had been channeled into the empty vessel that was once Sangan and the two could no longer separate. They currently are seeking out a possessed clock that can rewind their personal time to before they fused together. Figuring such a thing would live in a machine heavy zone they headed to Carousel.

    Spoiler

    Blackroot staff

A staff made from the root of a tree from the Black Forest, it allows for easy casting of nature based spells
    Sangan Vessel

The body of Sangan, it acts in unison with Sanwitch and always floats by their side, it carries the sealed away powers of Serafine and acts as a living weapon to unleash Sangans demonic magic.

    Powers & Abilities

    Spoiler

    Nature Mastery

Sanwitch can generate and control plant life around them to a degree, they can create thin vines and herbs of any kind and can use them to entangle and trip up enemies. They can also use this ability to warp and stretch their staff for hand to hand combat.
    Healing Remedy

Sanwitch can somewhat accelerate the healing process by imbuing magic into herbs.
    Fiendish Fury

using the Sangan Vessel they can release a wave of dark magic to disorient enemies. This dampens their Nature Mastery ability for a short time.

    Misc.

    Spoiler

The spell that fused the two was taught to Serafine by her sister.

while the Serafine part of them wants her power back the Sangan part of Sanwitch wants to separate to be reunited with his love.

Serafine, as one connected with forest spirits, is a vegan while Sangan eats souls. Sanwitch compromises by being a vegetarian.

Denied. While I like the character concept as a whole, saying no on the basis of its powers and abilities. Not necessarily overpowered, but the ability to spontaniously reach full maturity on command isn’t adequitely explained and takes away from the appeal of playing a young dragon that’s still learning the ways of the world. As well, the idea that the red-eyes archetype simply polymorphs into their various fusion/equip materials is.... odd, to say the least. Do they change shape and fuse together? Is there a time/energy limit? How do they learn to do this? What causes the divergent evolutionary paths that the dragons take (darkness, flare, metal, alternative, wyvern etc)? What about the other members of the archetype that aren’t dragons? I think this needs to be reigned in some and explained more thoroughly so that I know how and why this works and what the limitations are. Give it some edits and we’ll see.

completely reasonable, I figured the growth spurt ability was a bit of a stretch anyway and only really included it as a nod to the card's effect. in terms of the transforming abilities i can certainly get more specific with how they work and which forms can be taken. honestly i kind of didn't even think about time/energy limits because of how i intended to have him use the power (in sudden instant bursts) and that was probably near sighted. I'll rework it and have it back in a couple days at the latest

  6. A Bright-Eyed Adventurer

    Spoiler

Name: Caraminus (nicknamed Bright Eyes for his cheery disposition)
Age: 2-4 years (depending on if you count egg incubation or not)
    Gender: Male
Depicted In: Black Dragon's Chick & Red-Eyes Baby Dragon
    Race: Dragon
    AlignmentNeutral Good
    Appearance

    Spoiler

    Related imageRelated image

Even as a hatching his species is on the larger side of around 3' ft and are often heavier than they appear. Caraminus is an average 2'10 when on his hind-legs, when on all fours (his preferred state) he's just below 2 feet tall. When he's particularly excited and chirping happily it's not uncommon for a small burst of flame to escape his beak. More closely resembles "Black Dragon's Chick", however since that doesn't show it's body I'm using both card's art as reference.

    Personality

    Spoiler

Caraminus can mostly be described by two words, happy and innocent. He's mostly happy to help and will try to do the right thing but due to his young age he can easily be convinced of just about anything by someone he views as an authority figure. Like most children his emotions are volatile and, while cheerful and at peace tends to be the default, are prone to sway on a dime, going from a bawling mess of sadness back to his happy self at the drop of a hat (or more specifically the drop of his favorite snack), and with those swaying emotions comes a dramatic shift in the strength and volume he is capable of with his fire breath.

    Backstory

    Spoiler

Before hatching Caraminus' egg was poached by a knight from a legion who trained and used young dragons as steeds. His egg was given to that knights son as a right of passage, he was to be that child's first steed and was to be raised and trained along side him. Yet upon the eggs hatching the excitement of Brien, the paladin-to-be, became pity for the dragon his father had stolen. He no longer sought to join his family, seeing the confused and scared face of Caraminus (whom he later gave the nickname "Bright Eyes") changed something in him. Thinking it wrong to take these "lovely creatures" away from their home he ran away, hatchling in tow, to return the young Caraminus to his home. Along the way Caraminus learned from the boy as much as he could about the world and by the time they arrived at the land he believed his father had found the egg Caraminus had bonded with Brien and wanted nothing more than to stay with him, so much so that he had to be tricked into not following him back.

A stranger amongst dragons and seemingly abandoned by the closest thing he had to family, Caraminus wandered across Millenian in search of the first face he ever saw, accidentally becoming a member of the occasional band of thieves along that way that used his innocence, small size, and ability as a portable blowtorch/campfire to their advantage. His most recent group left him behind in Carousel in a panic as the insect enemy attacked. lost and dejected, Caraminus still holds out hope that "his father" is looking for him as well somewhere.

    Inventory

    Spoiler

Caraminus owns very little but something he tries to keep with him at all time is the remaining shell of his egg as, while travelling to return him home, Brien used it as a makeshift nest for the young dragon having found it not only incredibly durable but useful as a dish for food and water and as place to hide Caraminus from onlookers. He continues to nest in it as it serves a great deal of comfort to the young dragon and also uses it to store anything useful he might find.

    Powers and Abilities

    Spoiler

Flight - due to his young age and relatively small wingspan "hover" would be a more appropriate name for this ability as, for a short amount of time, it allows Caraminus to float 4-5 feet from the ground, allowing him to get to hard to reach places or over short ravines.

Caraminus is from a particular dragon tribe that have form-changing abilities, while he hasn't completely mastered the various forms he can take he is currently able to take on two forms outside of his base. These form changes are exhausting and cannot be held for long periods of time, as such their optimal use is as a "quick change" to be used for a sudden instant when needed.

Metal Morph - A defensive form that gives his scaled body added protection with a metallic coat, however, the added weight makes it impossible to fly.

Meteor Mode - This transformation is built for speed, while he can't fly particularly high  still this form greatly increases the speed and length at which he can zip through the air and makes him more akin to a miniature kinetic impact missile. Caraminus cannot breath fire in the form but the speeds he reaches can make his body hot to the touch.

Growth Spurt - a one-use ability that that will cause Caraminus to begin his species rapid aging process to his adult form, with this change comes more control over existing abilities as well as more forms he can take for combat, each with their own distinct advantage. (this ability will only be used if/when the host gives permission and only if it's an appropriate time story-wise and will be accompanied by an updated list of powers and abilities)

Fire Breath - While not very strong usually, the black and red flames Caraminus can create vary in power based on his emotional state. From a small puff when happy to short but hot sparks when sad. the key to this powers usefulness lies in both his and his parties ability to reliably control his emotions.

Tantrum - not truly a separate power in of itself, "tantrum" is the name given to Caraminus' fire breath at full force. As the name implies at the moment Caraminus is only capable of this ability when he's been upset to the point of a complete meltdown where he will attack uncontrollably and indiscriminately.

    Misc.

    Spoiler

Caraminus' favorite treat is very common a sweet tasting fruit that reminds him of Briens home.

Caraminus' name was chosen by Briens father, thus Brien took it upon himself to rename the dragon "Bright Eyes" after running away. He still prefers Caraminus though as it's what he's used to.

Caraminus has a fear of men in armor instilled in him by Brien to keep him from exposing himself in public areas where knights or soldiers are prevalent.

While viewed as "animals" by most dragons tend to vary in levels of intelligence and in most cases simply lack the ability to communicate with other species verbally.

When a monster is Synchro Summoned using only this card and other Synchro Monsters as Materials Special Summon the other Synchro Material Monsters. This card's Level is always treated as -5."

I wanted to try for something that, while difficult to use with Link monsters being a thing, can theoretically be splashed into any deck seeking to quickly fill the board with synchro's, more specifically for when you don't have enough zones to get out materials and you don't want to lose the Synchro's you already have. I also really wanted to come up with a name who's acronym is "GAS"

    how about a Fire monster?

  9.

Duel Monsters is at its peak in popularity, it’s the standard form of resolving conflicts, in many countries it is considered the most popular sport, and there are even pricey private schools to train for the pro circuit. For those that seek the fortune of a professional duelist without the fame, those who desire the funds to go pro, or those simply seeking a thrilling duel “Duel Castles” are the way to go. Places for duelists to come and participate in high stakes duels, often with their own twist or mysterious puzzles, these businesses offer an experience unlike any other and draw in duelists from across the globe in hopes of conquering the castle of their choice and earning whatever prizes lie within!

The United States "Las Vegas Duel Castle & Casino" has opened it's doors and duelists, professional and casual alike, are quickly  making their way to the tower and working their way up it's ten floors. It is the coveted top floors “Jackpot Duel” that yields the highest rewards, a battle royale fusion between Duel Monsters and Poker that few qualify to participate in, will you climb the castle walls and win the jackpot or crumble under the pressure and go bankrupt?

basically players will be in a race to amass enough "LifePoint Chips", both the gambling currency and the measure of your lifepoints during duels, in order to qualify as a "high roller" to reach the tenth floor where the ultimate duel and grand prize for conquering the castle wait. each floor has it's own gimmick and rule change that participants will have to contend with in order to be victorious. but unique duels isn't all, the building is also full of other ways to earn the needed "LP Chips" by gambling on every game imaginable. the higher up the tower you travel the larger the minimum bets become, resulting in an escalation of risk and reward that will either propel your character forward or bury them in debt.

This monster cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. this monster cannot be Special Summoned, except by its own effect. You can tribute 2 Negative monsters you control; Special Summon this card from your hand or GY. You can only use this effect of "False God's Manifestation" once per turn. If this card battles an opponent's monster (Quick Effect): you can banish 1 Negative monster from your GY; banish the opponent's monster this card is battling, then your opponent takes damage equal to half the combined ATK of the monsters banished by this effect. If this card was Special Summoned by tributing a "False God" monster, this card gains the following effect:

    - Once per turn, during your End Phase; you can return 1 banished Negative monster to your hand.

  12. The Story

    Spoiler

For the past sixteen years there's been a mysterious string of deaths across the northern United States attributed to a serial killer known as "The Breath Thief", each one seems to have suffocated to death, each autopsy reveals nothing, no bruises to indicate strangling or anything lodged in the victims throats, their bodies each appear untouched to such a degree that not even fingerprints were found. It was only after a surviving victim accused him that the culprit was found, a man by the name of Aurelio Cohen. Despite nobody figuring out just how he did it he was found guilty thanks to the survivng victims testimony and impartial DNA evidence found at the various crime scenes and was placed in Strattanville Maine Maximum Security Prison. Soon after his incarceration strange, even supernatural occurrences, began popping up all over the town of Strattanville. Could it just be small town urban myth or is something more dangerous in the works for the people of the small town?

You take on the role of a Stand User, either one native to the town of Strattanville or one drawn there for one reason or another. have you been recruited by a mysterious young man with a Stand made of paper or are you here to confirm your suspicions of Stand Users in Strattanville? Either way bizarre adventures are assured during your stay as one group uses their Stands to terrorize the town and achieve a mysterious goal and the other attempts to stop their mayhem.

    The Game

    Spoiler

Players will be participating in a game of "cops & robbers" between stand users, it will quickly become clear that the recruited Stand Users have been gathered to aid in the escape of the convicted killer. the opposing group must then gather information through whatever means they deem necessary to discover the identity of Aurelio's minions as well as how they plan to free him in order to thwart his escape attempt. while there will hopefully most likely be violent encounters between the factions both sides should attempt to stay focused on their goal and avoid confrontations if able.

Growing up he was subjected to torment by his father to awaken his Stand, it was upon his Stands awakening that his father lost interest and all but abandoned him. Paper Cut is a non-combat oriented Stand with the ability to possess paper and take on various origami forms, most often a crane as it allows the stand to fly. The Stand can travel a great distance from it's master, around 50 meters, It's main use is to deliver messages as anything written on the Stand's paper body will disappear, only to be spoken to the intended recipient in it's Users voice. Linken can also draw eyes and ears on the Stand for spying. As Paper Cut isn't really meant for fighting it's main battle strategy is to cover it's opponent in small cuts and scratches as a distraction while its User makes an escape.

"When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 Negative monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck, in face-up Attack Position. This cards level is always treated as -4"

    False God's Vessel

    DARK
    Psychic/Negative/Effect
    Level 4 - 1100/2100

(This card's Level can be treated as Level -4.)
If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: Send 1 card from your hand to GY. During your turn, except the turn this card is sent to GY: Banish this card from your GY; then Special Summon 1 Negative monster from your GY. You can use this effect of "False God's Vessel" once per turn.
    --------------------
    Negative form of existing card.

And how about next something that isn't Light or Dark.

  14. EscherMonstrosity by inkescher

You never really explained how they work exactly.  I assume they're basically just Main Deck monsters, but with a negative level?

    Escher Monstrosity
    DARK -********
    Beast/Negative/Effect
You can tribute 2 monsters whose combined total Levels equal 0: Special Summon this card from your hand or GY.  You can only control 1 "Escher Monstrosity".  If the combined total Levels of all monsters you control equals 0: You can destroy all other cards on the field.  You can only use this effect of "Escher Monstrosity" once per turn.  This card's Level is always treated as -8.
    3000/3000

Next: Make another generic Negative Monster

my bad, thought it was self explainitory, it's just any monster who's Level/Rank is/has the capability of being a negative value

  15.     "Not so fast" Sota adjusted his glasses, finally taking his turn to address the crowd, and opened a folder he'd brought with him "This duel is a showcase of the rules for the event." he explained, pulling out six squares of cardboard. "These your lives, they can look however you want as long as you have no more than three."

Luna, bored of all the talking, snatched the squares from Sota and ran off, handing three to Aster then three to his chosen opponent.

"You need to bet these when you duel, when you run out you lose." Elenor continued while Sota glared angrily at the hooded boy. "Since this is just a showcase our two volunteers will only be betting one each."

"Enough of that boring stuff though, let's have a bit of excitement huh?" Alex grabbed Aster, grinning for the crowd as he led the smaller boy to the dueling fields.

Aster tried and failed to adjust his Duel Disk's strap while he waited for his opponent, an older silver model he got from his brother, his mother had offered to get him a new one for his birthday once but he refused, saying his brothers disk was good luck. after giving up in frustration he looked through his deck, a toy rabbit jumping on clouds, a stuffed bat with a single button eye, a plush looking toy chest, until she arrived.

he stared at her, she'd been just as nervous as him in class, "Maybe this'll go well" he muttered. "You can go first, if you wanna . . ." his voice wavered making his fears apparent as he turned on his duel disk, the display orb in the center glowing blue and displaying "4000"  and trying to link to his opponents newer model. his hand was ejected as the display changed "Duel Start!"

Miss Chara looked to her lingering student quizzically "Is that so mister Tor?" She put her finger on her lips in a way she tended to do when thinking of something interesting before flashing a quick grin ad taking a seat behind her desk "I suppose it's only fair isn't it?"

She grabbed a a spare sheet of paper and began drawing with a pen, a rough but not all that terrible drawing of what seemed to be a sorceress surrounded by runes.

"You may not be aware but I just so happen to be the school writing club's Chaperone, you can probably imagine English is my preferred subject." she explained, handing Jacob her finished picture. "Although I do have a soft spot for the other creative arts, Duel Monsters being a close second." She looked over Jacob, noticing the crowd at the hill just out the classroom window. "But I'm sure you'd much rather see what your fellow classmates are up to than waste your recces in here, hm?"

  16. OOC (Please Read)

    Spoiler

As I said in the OOC one of our players seems to have disappeared so I've redone my last post, changing his opponent to the newly arrived girl Amaryllis, in order to retcon Aria (the now absent  character). If you'd also like to redo any posts made after, should you feel this change would affect your characters actions, feel free

Miss Chara added yet another check to her clipboard as the last of the students finished, silently taking note of Alex Solomon's return.

"Wonderful everyone!" she checked the clock before continuing "Now that did take a tad longer than expected so we're going to run through the class rules real quick then it's off to recces."

She quickly erased her own drawing from the blackboard before writing down something from her desk

"I'm not as strict as some other teachers you may have had but there are is one rule that even this class has to follow, firstly, while I myself am a duelist, trading cards and playing duel monsters, along with any other disruptive activity during class time, will result in a punishment based on your offense and your history of disruptions." she turned to face them, a wide smile on her face as she linked her fingers together. "That being said, when you go outside you'll notice the playground has three dueling fields which you're welcome to enjoy."

The group, having been informed by Alex that Jacob was no threat, eagerly stood at the hill waiting for the class to gather, a few of the more eager kids already waiting with duel disk in hand. Once everyone who seemed interested were together, including the guest of honor, Eleanor stepped forward.

"Students of Miss Chara's class one o' four, you've been promised a duel monsters tournament by myself and the others beside me." she tried to sound as authoritative as possible, imagining her father on the phone with an employee. "We intend to give a full explanation but first we need two things, a volunteer and the person responsible for all of this. . ."

Alex pushed in front of her, pointing towards the groups target, nothing but malice in his gaze "Aster Yutsu, this is all thanks to you!"

Aster, who had been listening with excitement, his own poorly fitted duel disk sliding off his arm, jumped at the meanest boy in his grade calling him out. wanting to avoid angering him Aster quickly shuffled up the hill.

"Cool, you brought you're stuff, that'll make this way easier!" Luna grinned, more sincerely than Alex or Eleanor, forcibly shaking hands with the boy. "this is gonna be awesome I bet!"

"Thanks Luna." Aster replied, a bit confused at his classmates friendliness.

"Oh, oh! El, let Aster pick!" Luna insisted, tapping her shoulder until she nodded in approval.

"Umm, okay then. . . ." Aster scanned the small crowd of raised hands until his eyes settled on someone, a girl who seemed to have just arrived. "I pick . . . her."
