OP's suggestion. The HU put out a new track, and I had to share with the rest of the class as soon as I found out!

    7/10, would shoog again.

Ms. Hitotsume did have a point. So far, it had mostly been herself and Yuuka doing all the work against this guy, while the boys just kinda watched. And while the two seemed to make a fine team, it didn't seem likely that this big bad thug would go down just against two girls. No matter how much screaming or poison they threw at him. Of course, Hibiki couldn't think too much about that, what with having had her face punched by the guy in question, knocking her clean off his body, knocking her sunglasses right off her face and breaking them, and prompting her to take a couple small hops back, to get some distance from him as well as from Yuuka's cloud. She wasn't good at that in-your-face fighting, was she? Not really built for it.

Unlike Herc, who took to the fight himself after being scolded and subsequently taunted. She couldn't quite make out what had happened with the sun and her poor sight, but it looked like he was doing pretty well at first. And then it looked like he was getting shot up into the sky. And the guy was... glowing? Or something? Was he about to explode? As horrific as that would be to watch, it sure would be convenient. The important thing was that it seemed like the harder everyone hit him, the harder he'd hit back. So little attacks that could have long-lasting effects? Like Yuuka's cloud! Or...

This sun was really getting to her. Hibiki closed her eyes, opened her mouth, and let out that distinct noise again. Bad guy there. Herc, Yuuka, Itsuki, Taro, Ms. Hitotsume and the lady she was fighting, but she wasn't looking for people. She was looking for something like... by the curb! An empty glass bottle! Hibiki hurried in that direction - minding the location of the thug and taking care to avoid him - before picking up the bottle and listening in on the fight, keeping just out of eyesight but still close enough to make out what was going on with her ears and voice. She'd only get one shot at this, and had to not mess it up.

"Uhm....she's already gone ahead of us. So I suggest we follow before we lose her!"

    She WHAT!?

"Hang tight! We'll be right back!"

"Wait, shouldn't we--" It was no use. Oswald was already in the water, where he wouldn't be able to hear her anymore. This felt like a bad idea. But it was now or never, she supposed. And so, mask and other gear properly adjusted, Kanon jumped into the water, following up on Oswald retreating beneath the surface, herself followed by trusty companion Bubbles. Being beneath the water was an entirely different experience to being within the trees, or on the city streets. There was a distinct quality about it. Almost like what she imagined flying would feel like, but heavier.

As Kanon continued downard, something caught her eye. A little sparkle. She swam over in its direction - not too far off-course - to investigate. And what she found was a little pearl. Neat! Kanon picked it up and jammed it into her diving suit, not having the pockets to put it anywhere else for now. Only a little bit of water got in. Now, where was that guide?

In an RPG setting, what would your signature skill, attack or spell be and do? I mean details like visual effects, any status effects (e.g. burn, freeze), or stat bonuses/reductions, etc. For instance, IIRC you are into the water element so I imagine it could be something like Scald from Pokemon, or a waterfall attack, or a freeze spell. No need to go into base power/damage since as a signature-personal skill it would scale up with your level.

Water-type special attack that deals damage twice. First time involves an exploding bubble being lobbed at the enemy, and then the second damage happens on the next turn when all the water comes back down from the explosion.

It sounds like something I'd hear in a bullet hell game of some sort in the later half. Wasn't too keen on the first half, but it made up for it later on. 7/10, would've been an 8 if not for the first half being kinda filler-y.

OP's suggestion. I've been playing a lot of Terraria for the past month and a half or so, and while I haven't quite beaten the game yet, I think I know who my favorite boss is, for more reasons than just her theme.

I distinctly remember I didn't want to hear this until I fought Plantera in-game. Was not disappointed with my decision. As much as I love this song though, I can't see it getting any higher than a 7/10 at best.

"I suppose I have to decide everything for you people don't I?"

As Morgan looked over the current listings, so did Aurora. There was an action movie, indeed, with fast cars, one-liners, and all that good action movie stuff. There was a comedy movie that seemed funny enough, but something about it just didn't click. Aurora opted to skip over the horror movie, or at least, she skipped the part where she'd consider watching it. And then there was a steamy romance movie that was... well, it certainly didn't look like the kind of thing that she'd find playing at home in the living room. Morgan, for whatever reason, seemed to have her eye on the last one.

"It says it has a lot of 'hot action' that's what you wanted, right?"

Somebody had to stop this girl before she made a wrong decision. "That's, uhh... that's not the kind of action we meant, Morgan." Pointing up to the Maximum Overdrive movie, she continued "We were talking something more like this. Cars, guns, explosions, all that stuff." That was what an action movie was all about. Whether or not they were written well didn't matter as long as it delivered on adrenaline-pumping action scenes. I wonder if they do 3D glasses here. Those things give me a bit of a headache anyway though.

"Sounds fun, right?" she asked, already heading up to buy the tickets unless someone stopped her.

"Here's some advice sweetheart. Examine the enemy. Figure out what kind of attacks work. These things probably don't really need their heads all that much and a little hole from an arrow ain't gonna do much. But don't worry, I've got this, Miss Chosen."

"It worked last time I had to fight an oversized bug," Pyrrha muttered. Maybe bees were just a different story. Pyrrha hurried over to the dead bee, only to be stopped in her tracks by those other two bees coming out from the sides, stingers out and ready to make her into a shish kebab. The girl leapt back, drawing and releasing an arrow aimed at the abdomen of one of the bees. She wanted to send out Eltain - it would make the fight way easier - but nobody else seemed to be using their spirits. Were they supposed to save them for special occasions? Was there some sort of physical tax she wasn't aware of that didn't apply in the Council's tower?

Whatever it was, it was probably good to show what she was capable of on her own merits anyway. And so, for good measure, she shot a second arrow at the same bee's abdomen. "And my name is Pyrrha," she added. "Not Miss Chosen!"

I rather like Nitro's work, but the slow ZUNpets/synths so don't mesh well with the faster heavy guitars and drums. And then it picks up in pace to match, but that doesn't quite feel right either. Some AU fanatic must have tied him down and forced him to do this. The remix also would have been better off without Megalovania if you ask me, but it probably has something to do with the plot of the AU and Undertale AUs are an entirely different rant that I'll spare you since you didn't come here to read an essay.

4/10. Sorry Nitro, but this isn't your finest work.

"...Doing is great and all, but rushing into a plan won't help either. You bring in a shiny new police force and people are going to stick with the evil they know. The gangs are terrible, but they're familiar at this point. Who knows what a corrupt police force might try to enforce on them? And then there's the matter of where you get people for that police force... If they come from another place, the people in Hearthome won't trust them. They did nothing for us before, why should we think they would help us now? Maybe you're right, honestly. Maybe we can't fix the place, but it's my home. I'd hate to just abandon it entirely. Right now, I have nowhere else to go when this is all over."

"That's certainly a perspective on it." Quite possibly a more correct one, the more Natsumi thought about it, though she would have preferred not to admit that. Perhaps some sort of midway point was what was needed? Something like, use money and resources to let one gang get big enough to where they can unify the whole city, then see about converting them into a more official police service. She wasn't sure. But what she was sure of was, unless something happened during this not-so-little job of theirs, Natsumi was in the same boat as her; after everything was said and done, Hearthome was the only place for her to go. Of course she'd want to fix it back into a proper city.

Maybe patching up the arena wouldn't be a bad starting point either, she pondered to herself between bites of egg. "Right now, of course, we have other matters to see to. And in the interest of not getting a pancake thrown at my face, I'll leave it at that. Have any of you ever been on one of those D-Wheels?"

And so it was that the four proceeded down the tunnel, Kokoro leading the way with Hackmon not far behind. When they reached the light at the end of the tunnel, however, rather than an exit, they found a suit of armor. While that in and of itself was already plenty confusing, what was even more confusing was the voice that suddenly filled the room. It might have been a talking suit of armor?

"Child of Light... Child of Flame, come forth. Reach out to me, call out to me, and claim the power,"

"Child of Light...? What does that mean?"

"Beats me." Kokoro was about to reach out to claim it for herself, by all means, but was stopped just before she could move to take it, by somebody taking her hand.

<Kokoro-senpai,> Minamizawa, sounding quite a bit less casual than usual. A surprise, to be sure. <Please step back and let Conner claim his power.>

<Eh? Chulainn's?> Kokoro eyed the cripple in question up and down. Certainly didn't seem like the type to have a cool suit of armor laid out just for him. Although, depending on how literal she wanted to be about it, there was no way Kokoro could be this "Child of Light." And she couldn't imagine either of the other two boys quite fitting the bill either. <...fine.>

"Well, Minamizawa here seems to think 'Child of Light' means you. I've got my doubts, but I guess unless something happens, that means it's yours for the taking. Go ahead."

"You were with the council for pretty long, right? Did they tell you anything interesting about spirits or the gates?"

The question had been brought up after the Chosen had already made their way away from those odd knights who did their best to give the group some much-appreciated assistance. While Damien explained that "Dark and Stabby" wasn't running an interrogation or anything, Pyrrha racked her mind for any information she might have gotten out of the Council about spirits or gates, besides the obvious stuff.

"Mmm... not really, I'm afraid. I spent most of my time there training with my weapons, and getting familiar with my spirit. Oh! They did tell me though, that there's supposed to be a--"

Before she could quite finish her sentence though, the group was set upon by very large bees. Pyrrha had seen some big creepy crawlies before, but these were a bit bigger than that. Lindow wasted no time charging into the group of three near Pyrrha's side of the fight, electrocuting the first one and causing the other two to run off into the grass. And then there was one more closing in. It was probably safest to get rid of it from here, right? Luckily, that was what Pyrrha excelled at.

The elf girl took aim with her bow, then let loose with an arrow to pierce one of the bee's wings, to cripple its flight. Then, from her hip, Pyrrha procured her axe. She put her arm back, then swung forward, releasing her weapon and throwing it at the bee's head. It lodged itself firmly in the bee's head, but... it was still moving! "These things are pretty sturdy," she couldn't help but comment. That worked perfectly fine the last time she fought an oversized bug, and she didn't exactly want to go up to the bee to pull her axe out of its head while it was still alive.

"The 'shield' as you called it was the result of the Spirits of the Void answering my call to assist us. It is something that I can do: speak to the spirits in the universe around me and request their assistance. The... claw upon Zu'ul-pa-tok, my Mech, acts as a conductor for this assistance, amplifying it to produce yet stronger effects."

Uh-huh. Congratulations. You've left me with more questions than I had before, and no answers. It couldn't just be as simple as space voodoo. There must have been more to it. But the boy was already taking off. She'd have to do some research on these spirits just to be thorough. Independant research. If she asked him directly, he might think she was interested in converting to some weird cult, and she wasn't exactly ready to be sacrificed for some kooky ritual just yet. There were experiments to run, research to be done, and science to do. And more importantly, a landing to prepare for. She had to pack what few things she had, and get ready to make the proper first impression on the school.

    ...

Hours later, and the Finback was landing... kind of. The ship - due to its size - had to plop the students together into a different smaller vessel, which they'd then land on, while the mechs would be put somewhere from the bigger ship. The revelation about the pilot though, made her question just what sort of half-rate staff this place hired. For the greatest academy for meatbags to learn how to pilot mechs, their employee choices sure seemed lackluster! The facility itself, however, was impressive. Maybe she was just used to the ruins back on Kavra and the humbler architecture at her various stops along the way here, but the construction here was really something. She had to give props to the architects responsible for it.

The vice principal was about what she'd expected, given that this place was meant to rear up the next generation of some of the finest soldiers in the galaxy. The auditorium was also rather impressive. One by one, the house heads stepped up to introduce themselves. Another stern military type was up first. No thanks. Then a pretty boy type who said he was interested in gossip, but it sounded more like he was into idle chit-chat. Not up her alley. And then...

    A robot!?

Something was fishy. The robot - his name was BOMB - talked about how his house was all about having fun. He was a bit too chipper for Sammi's liking, if she was being totally honest. But out of all three of these houses, his was the one she was most interested in. Not because of the goals, but because of its head. Another robot's presence in this school raised so many questions in Sammi's head all at once, and she wanted to ask them all right then and there, but she couldn't. She had to play cool and not blow her cover. Besides, the presentation wasn't done just yet. The principal still had to make his own introduction.

    Horace "Metal Crusher" Walton.

The nickname didn't exactly make Sammi feel at ease around him. She'd heard his name here and there on her way to this school, but there was no mention of him in KOWA's records. Which... made sense. Unless Horace was some immortal superhuman freak, he wouldn't be someone in the records. She didn't quite catch what Horace was saying. Sammi was too busy trying to figure out what BOMB's story was, and why he was here. Suddenly, there was music, and a disco ball, and the chairs were gone and there were guys with drinks! Was this some sort of opening day party?

There would be time for festivities in just a moment. Right now, Sammi had more important priorities. Being optional, Sammi had no intentions of joining a house at first, but some things had changed in the short time between then and now. She climbed up onto the stage, and made directly for the house heads. More specifically, BOMB. "I would like to join House Bomb," she stated. Hopefully I don't regret this decision later.

Despite some hitches in the process of landing the ship, everything had gone just fine! The ship didn't crash, which according to the upperclassmen, was the first time in a few years it hadn't done that. Vivian also felt the need to congratulate the ship's crew on the first crash-free landing in years, but there wasn't really time to go over and do that. Because it wasn't long before they were met with the vice principal, Emilia Reichen. This was the first impression that truly reminded Vivian why she was here. Her posture was upright and firm, like a proper soldier, but it was clear she was having a great time, excited simply to be at such an impressive and famous school to start her compulsory service! She followed the other students, ooh-ing and aah-ing at the impressive building as she glanced around at her surroundings, and the sentiment became vocal when she first stepped into the auditorium.

Now this was an auditorium! Everything just felt so big here! Though that may have been because she was used to the more compact buildings and streets on Colia. Despite the amazingly huge amount of space available though, Ms. Reichen insisted that everyone sit at the front, near the middle. And then, she reminded everyone why they were here. And, additionally, she introduced the heads of each house. The Steel Hounds were all about tactics and hard work. How military-like! But, why join them when she could take it easy instead? The Sun Lizards were more social sorts. That sounded like her kind of house! What was the point being here if she didn't make friends along the way, after all? House Bomb - although being all about fun - didn't seem as fun to her as the Sun Lizards. However, she was also told to give it serious consideration if she wanted to join a house or not. She didn't have to sign up right now anyway. If she wanted to join the Sun Lizards, she could do that later.

And then, he made his entrance. Horace Walton. A legendary soldier, outstanding beard-keeper who she knew her father tried to copy the style of, and overall someone Vivian would do well to look up to while she was here. He certainly didn't carry himself like the amazing warrior she'd heard he was, though, let alone enter like one. But that was fine. He then - rather showy-like - announced that it was time to party. Mingling! Drinks! Food! Music! All that good party stuff.

Which was just fine by her. Vivian needed something light to eat right about now; she was feeling a bit of motion sickness from the ship landing. Like some crackers. Those would do just fine. She picked up a few, and looked around at the other students. There was that girl she'd met earlier - Vivian couldn't quite recall if she'd introduced herself right now - and some others. Eenie, meenie, miney... you! A girl with what seemed to be a mechanical leg. As much as she knew that it was probably just a regular old prosthetic, Vivian couldn't help but get the mental image of a cool cyborg.

    That'd be neat.

Vivian walked up to the girl, waving a hand for her attention. "Hey there. This place is huge, right!?" By her own admittance, Vivian just kind of blurted out the first thing that came to mind. But she really couldn't get over how big this room was, let alone the school it was part of.

"If you have a Pokemon that can handle the water might wanna let them out now. It's always good to have one or two around in case of emergency."

After some weird and concerining remarks from the guide, Kanon and Oswald had gone from being in the shop, to geared up for diving, to at the water's edge, ready to dive. She didn't like the idea of just not asking before going in though. It could be dangerous and all, but the crane was off, it seemed. Plus, she really wanted to know what was going on down there.

"Oh, yeah, guess I should tell you how this all works, shouln't I?"

"That would be rather helpful, yes. It's our first time so show us the ropes."

"It's part of why we needed a guide in the first place," Kanon added. The guide then went on with her explanation. It was simple enough that Kanon got the idea, but it seemed a bit too simple. Part of her felt like she wasn't getting the full picture. But this lady was getting paid, so surely she wouldn't half-ass it. With the explanation, the gear, and everything else ready to go, Kanon pulled forth a Poke Ball, pressing the button and releasing her faithful Poliwag. "Hear that, Bubbles? We're going swimming." The blue creature let out a happy squealy sound as it eyed the water, waiting for the others.

Kanon made to jump in, but suddenly stopped. It was bugging her way too much, scratching at the back of her mind like an overeager dog who was way past due to get his claws trimmed. If they just jumped in all buck-wild and reckless, there would probably be consequences that could easily be avoided if they'd just asked first. Her luck in Korova hadn't exactly been stellar so far, so it was probably better to just play it safe. She was surprised Oswald was fine with not asking anyone, in fact.

"I'll be right back." With that, Kanon took off at a brisk pace, toward the crane, where she found some workers she could ask about the diving. "Excuse me," she asked, "is it alright to go diving over here?"

"Ah, not right now, okay? There's still work around here; maybe wait until we've wrapped up, okay?"

"...okay." Hopefully they were done sooner rather than later. Kanon hurried back to where the rest of the group was, and stated "I couldn't just not ask, but they said it's not okay to go until they... finish up here..." Kanon surveyed the group again. Oswald, his Remoraid, Nomi, Bubbles, and... no sign of the clerk. She must have already jumped in.

    "Where's the clerk lady?"
