  2. A donations feature of some sort would be nice. Not sure if it should have rewards tied to it or not (maybe?), but the feature itself is certainly a good idea. Surely there are people within the site who don't mind parting with X amount of money to make the load a bit lighter on the upkeep costs for that month. I'd be one myself, but I haven't exactly been in a position to make those types of donations ^_^;

And just like that, two of them were out! Taro had taken out the guy with the knife, but his gun-toting friend wanted to retaliate, prompting Herc to stop him before he could hurt anyone, not only leaving him open for Hibiki to follow up, but knocking him out entirely! Impressive! Or at least, that's what it sounded like. That just left the chain guy, and she could certainly hear those chains rattling. Time to show her stuff! She could do more than just scream at people after all. Like run straight for the guy who was too distracted by the six-foot-something beetle man who'd just punched out his friend, and clamp her sharp bat teeth down on his bicep, causing him to drop the chain as his attention suddenly shifted to trying to get a small girl clinging to his back... off his back.

"Let go of me ya damned mutt!"

Hibiki's response - while certainly vocal and stern - was completely unintelligible due to her currently having her mouth full of scumbag arm. Soon though, he got a good grip on her ears, and started pulling in an effort to force her to let go. Hibiki, in response, un-clamped her mouth from the thug's arm, put her mouth right up to the man's ear, and let loose with an ear-shattering shriek. That'd teach him. And for good effect, she followed it up with a passable - but still rather pitiful - headbutt to the back of his head, before letting go and shoving him in Ms. Hitotsume's direction. It was best to let the real heroes finish off the thugs. Or Yuuka and Itsuki, if they felt so inclined.

"And bats are not dogs!" she huffed, as if it was a follow-up to whatever she'd said earlier.

"We should go find the others that ran off."

"I'm here," Kokoro responeded, rounding the corner with Hackmon in tow. He stuck close behind her, not even greeting the other humans assembled in the hallway. Shaw seemed to be bringing Connor over to the cafeteria. Just as well. She'd never even finished eating! "And I'm going back to my breakfast now," she added. Chris still wasn't back though... it was a wee bit concerning. Maybe checking in on him wouldn't be the worst idea.

"I'll go back in a bit actually," she eventually decided aloud, turning and starting in the direction Chris had ran off, finding herself in the gym. There he was. With the little hedgehog. "What's the holdup in here?" she asked.

"Well. I'm Ross. The new kid...you already knew that...but nice to meet you."

She seemed nice enough. And while she did look pretty normal, Aurora of all people knew that looks weren't everything. She might have had some amazing gadget hidden away somewhere, or some sort of powers like Aurora did. Or even both! After all, she herself looked like a pretty normal girl, but she had the most powerful Fragment she'd ever seen! So who knew what this Ross girl was packing?

"Sure. If I'm gong to live here, should probably get to know what's around here. So what is around here?"

Come to think of it, I haven't explored the city as much as I would like. Arena work was busy stuff and all. That didn't mean she had no clue what to do though! In fact, she distinctly remembered there being a nice little café somewhere not too terribly far away. Aurora pulled up her map of the city, looking for the spot. Right about... there! Pointing out the place on the map, she said "This here's a nice little place to grab a drink. And not too expensive either!" Pointing out other spots on the map, she continued "There's a photo studio here you'll probably wanna visit sometime, an arcade over here, and a park way over here if that's more your pace. Here in this building, we've got... lots of stuff. It would probably take a proper tour to cover everything here."

"Hello hello, welcome to the shop and all that. So, you wanna go diving do you? Not many people hit me up for that. Guess no one wants a Skrelp in their hair. Well, we do got some that we can rent out. You're gonna need a guide to help you out though. And it just so happens there's someone who can instruct you right here."

Is it you? I don't see anyone else.

"It's me. And it won't cost you much at all, unless you break something. So where you folks intended to explore?"

"The area near that big crane where all the Skrelp gather. We wanted to find out what was bringing them all together like that." And maybe catch one for herself. Would regular Poke Balls still function underwater? She wasn't sure. Going through water was something she had some experience with, but never under it. Nodding in Nomi's direction, Kanon added "We're all looking to explore down there except for her. How much would two sets of diving equipment and some floatie rings or something cost?" The lady had said it wasn't much as long as they didn't break anything, but how not-much it was still mattered.

Kanon pulled an empty Poke Ball out of her pocket. "Also, do these still work underwater?"

"Go ahead, eat whatever you may like! But please, try not to talk shop during of breakfast. There will be plenty of time afterwards for Signer things. Please, just enjoy your food and get to know each other,"

Natsumi had to admit, the array of food laid out for the signers was impressive. She'd even go so far as to call it luxurious, not that she'd say so out loud. While most others seemed content to wolf down their food like some sort of animals, or take way more food than necessary, Natsumi filled out her plate with a modest breakfast of eggs, milk, toast, and a banana. A balanced diet was a critical step toward a balanced life, after all! Among the others, there was one Signer in particular Natsumi wanted to know more about.

"I already introduced myself, but my name is Octavia. I also have a Mark of the Heart, and my dragon is Number 82: Heartlandraco! I'm from Hearthome City."

    That one.

Octavia, from Hearthome City. To the best of her recollection, she was the only Signer from that place besides Natsumi herself. Octavia had also been the first of the two to request that they talk to Mr. Kaiba about the atrocious state of the city after this job had been taken care of. Getting to know her better was a personal goal at this point. And so, Natsumi scouted out the room for Octavia in particular, and upon finding her, made her way over. After a bite of toast, Natsumi started the conversation in a rather to-the-point fashion.

"Unless I've forgotten someone, we seem to be the only people from Hearthome within the project," she started. "Let's say we succeed at our job and are given sufficient funding to restore the city to a tolerable state. What would be the first thing you do to start it back on the proper path?"

Well, aside from the raging man at the top of the volcano, Nani liked to believe things had gone pretty well. Not ideal, but passable. Marie said it was time to get going - a sentiment Nani agreed all too well with - but as she descended down the volcano, all that good not-fighting was about to be thrown out the window.

    "HEATRAN!!!"

    Uh-oh. Don't do it, Randy.

    "HEATRAN I'VE COME TO FIGHT!!"

Aaaand there he goes. Nani looked up at the climbing Incineroar with an emotion that she wasn't really sure what it was. This idiot was going to get her and Marie killed one day, assuming he didn't get himself killed first.

    "Come on!"

"Nope. I'm gonna go check on the kids. One of us has to." With that, Nani continued further down the volcano. She did feel bad just leaving Randy and Marie to fight this guy, but that wasn't what they were here for in the first place anyway. Besides, like she'd said, somebody had to check in on the kids. Randy wasn't going to, Marie wasn't going to, and Keanu was still missing in action. That just left Nani. And so, down the Mimikyu scaled, eventually reaching the bottom where she was reunited with Trevor and the Larvitars.

"Alright, uh, with that detour out of the way... me and my friends up there were asked to, er... make sure you two are doing okay," Nani stated to the kids. Her voice was awkward and she looked like there was more she wanted to say, but wasn't able to piece together what. But at least she got the important stuff out, right? Right.

"Heeeelllllll yeeeeeeah! We showed them! Three cheers for us! Hip hip hooray! Come on guys cheer with me!"

"Hooray," chimed in Sammi's considerably less enthusiastic voice. Winning a simple scuffle where the enemy was outnumbered and outgunned didn't seem like much cause for celebration to her. However, a win was still a win, and now it was time to head back to base. Or ship, in this case. Sammi's mech flew along the length of the ship, turning as it neared the hangar and docking itself in a spot near the exit, as the robot girl stepped out and glanced around. That Julian boy was being taken to be looked at for injuries. Organics were so frail, she almost pitied them.

    Almost.

She stood there, watching as the others docked and got out of their machines. There was one in particular she wanted to talk to...

    hzxKAxh.png

Well, she did want to get into the fray, at least. But by the time she'd made it to the hangar, the door was shut and Vivian simply assumed the hangar doors for the mecha were also closed and locked, to keep any students from unexpectedly getting sucked out into the void of space and dying a horrible death. And so, rather than join the fight herself, Vivian was content to watch the others fight. What bandits wanted with a student ship was beyond her - maybe better mecha? - but at the end of the day, everyone was coming home. How wonderful!

...even if she would have preferred there not be a bandit attack in the first place.

Once the mecha were docked and the students started climbing out of them, Vivian took a look at the faces of the victors. Coming here was definitely the right idea! Among them, one girl had these big ears like some sort of canine. And she was so tiny! Unlike her mech; a big heavy-looking thing. It wasn't entirely unlike Vivian's own Bighand in that respect. Maybe they could get along? That would be nice. And so, Vivian made her way to the big red mech, waving at its pilot as she nimbly made her way down its limbs.

"Heeeey!" she called out. "Good job out there! I like your mech."

"Um, a - um - pleasure to meet you. Pyrrha. I'm Ryia Mariote, Chosen of Earth. I look forward to um, working alongside you."

    "Hello. I'm Lindow."

The other two had never introduced themselves. It didn't matter all that much to Pyrrha. What was more important to her right now was everyone's goal. Not the long-term one of dealing with demon gates - not yet anyway - but the more immediate one of restocking. It was time to get out of here. Pyrrha followed the other Chosen, leaving the Council with little more than a nod of acknowledgement in response to their goodbye.

Being outside felt like a load off her shoulders. Like meeting the others was some sort of test and she'd just been told she passed.

"None are exactly...like Haven. But the closest I guess would be Bresa or Qresa. To the south-east and south. They have the most...flat land. There's...a lot of differences still."

Pyrrha's ears perked up at the mention of Bresa. She didn't know much about Qresa, but Bresa was a different story. "They've got fish in Bresa, for one," Pyrrha commented, pulling back the string of her bow. There weren't any arrows ready to fire; she just wanted to make sure her bow was still in good shape. "...lots of fish. Among other things." If she was being totally honest though, part of her didn't want her first stop in this great adventure to be Bresa. She'd already lived there for most of her life, so coming all this way and becoming a Chosen just to go back felt... odd.

Pyrrha released the string of her bow, pointed at the back of Keres's head. "Qresa's just a bunch of farmers, the way I hear it."

"Hey! I'll see you this weekend! Don't forget, or I'll send you flyin', 'kay?"

"Of course I won't forget!" Hibiki retorted. Did Misu really think she'd miss something as important as getting her permission form signed? That was a pretty bold assumption on her part.

    Saturday afternoon...

It was time to go home for the weekend! Hibiki had already phoned home saying she was bringing a friend over, and from the sound of things, they had no problem having a guest overnight if it came down to it. Her train was supposed to be arriving soon though. As such, Hibiki nudged her way through the crowd, looking for the distinct, relatively-towering-over-everyone-around-her figure of Misu. Even if she knew what she was looking for though, seeing it was a different issue with her eyesight. Combined with the bright lights on the ceiling and all the idle chit-chat filling the station, and it was quite the disorienting experience. However, in the end, finding Misu wasn't all that tough, since even if all she had to go off was shape, Misu was very big (but not as big as Herc) and had big fluffy hair.

"Heeeeeeeeeeey!" she called out, waving her hand in the air and heading toward Misu.

"Yo! Chibi Hibi! I've been lookin' for you but you're so damn small!" Misu laughed.

"It's a good thing you're so big then," Hibiki laughed back. "We'd never find each other if I was looking for somebody like Yuuka instead." Hibiki then handed Misu her train ticket. Round trip all the way down to Kyushu. "Here you go."

"Thanks, squirt!" Misu snickered, as she grabbed the ticket. "So how long's the ride? Mind if I take a snooze?"

"That's fine. I might take a little nap along the way myself. If the train gets here and arrives home on time, we should be able to get to my place just in time for dinner."

    Saturday evening...

The sun was setting over the sky. The train ride had gone without a hitch, Hibiki and Misu were now on a completely different side of the country, and there was a permission slip ready to be signed in the former's hands. It was just a matter of getting home now, which was almost done.

"And everyone's super-nice," Hibiki continued, turning the corner as her house came into sight. "Mom and dad don't like Quirks much, which can be a bit awkward sometimes because..." Hibiki flapped her wings to get the point across, in case it wasn't already clear enough. "But just because they don't like them, doesn't mean they don't like people who have them! They still backed me up when I decided to join U.A. so getting them to sign this should be a cinch!"

"What are they? Some human genome purists?" Misu spat on the ground, her eyebrow twitching. "My dad writes about those types..."

"No no no, nothing that severe! They're just kinda wary about them is all. Quirks are still pretty new after all, and while heroes are there to stop them, there are still people who want to use these amazing powers for bad things." Hibiki pulled her phone out of her pocket for a short moment, sending a text to her parents quickly explaining that she was here now. She'd been told earlier that the door would be unlocked, but it still felt polite to say something before barging in, even if it was her own home. The house itself was nothing extraordinary, looking pretty average overall. Two stories, lights on, and if Hibiki's ears weren't mistaken, the sounds of rushed footsteps inside. Misu probably couldn't hear it.

More importantly, something smelled tasty. A hasty breakfast plus only snacks on the long train ride here left Hibiki as one hungry girl. Whatever was inside, she wanted some. She opened the door, only to immediately be met with a girl running forward to wrap her arms tightly around the bat girl. "It's been borin' as hell without you here!" she exclaimed.

"Sorry about that," Hibiki responded, returning the hug, wings flapping happily. Turning her head back to face Misu, she clarified "This is my twin sister, Hikari!" Despite being her twin though, there were some differences in their appearance, similar though they looked. Hikari was taller, and her facial features weren't as sharp. Not to mention she lacked Hibiki's bright red eyes and features related to her bat Quirk. Otherwise though, they were perfectly identical, as if seeing Hikari was a glimpse into what Hibiki could have looked like without a Quirk.

"You gotta be that friend she was tellin' us about," Hikari observed, casting her glance at Misu. "She told us yer a big girl, but I didn't expect someone this tall."

"Yeah. I get that a lot." She groaned. "So what? You ain't goin' to the same school as your sister?"

"All that hero stuff don't suit me. Even if it did, goin' all the way up there would be a drag. Quirk's not all that great either." Hikari removed one of her hands from Hibiki's back, holding it out for Misu to see. It was tough to tell, but as long as she was paying attention, she could see Hikari's hand glowing. And that was all there was to it. "I wanna be a lawyer or somethin' instead. But enough standin' out here, we've got food waitin' to be eaten!" Letting go of Hibiki and leading the way inside, she continued "Ma got that big promotion at work the other day, so between that and Hibiki makin' it into UA, we got pizza to celebrate once we heard she's home for the weekend."

"For real!?" It sounded like these were great times for the Himura family overall, and not just for Hibiki! A meal of good food, lively conversation, and plenty of joking around ensued, and before anyone knew it, the food was all gone. While Hikari was getting Misu familiar with the house and showing her where she'd be sleeping, Hibiki had other things to do. She'd brought her mother aside, handing her the permission slip to do hero stuff. "I need you to sign this for school stuff," she explained.

"Let's see here..." She looked over the paper, her thumb tapping on the counter. Hibiki had missed that distinct tink, tink, tink sound, not realizing it until just now. "It seems awfully dangerous."

"Being a hero is dangerous work. But we have the teachers backing us up, and my friend Misu is really big and strong too! I've been training my own Quirk too, because I'm a bit behind the curve. I'll be fine, I promise!"

"Hmmm..." She didn't seem convinced. Turning her attention to the man currently washing the dishes, she asked "What do you make of it, darling?"

"It's dangerous work, no doubt about that. Your mother has a point, Hibiki; she's pretty familiar with danger after all."

    "But..."

"However, we also knew what type of work you were looking to get into the moment we approved you going to UA. It's a bit sooner than I'd like, but it may be good for her to experience the real work for herself, dear. That way, she'll be all the more used to it by the time it's time for her to become a hero herself."

"...I hate it when he sounds reasonable," her mother sighed, pulling a pen from her pocket and signing the form. "But don't get yourself hurt out there! If you get seriously injured because of this hero stuff, I won't hesitate to pull you out of the school. By hand if I have to."

    "Got it. Thanks for signing!"

"And who knows? If you do well enough, maybe someday you'll start bringing crooks right to my doorstep! Ahahahahaha!"

    Monday...

After a fun weekend back home, it was time for more school stuff. She'd made it back to the dorms yesterday evening, handed in her permission slip this morning, and while it was kind of last-minute, Ms. Hitotsume said it still counted! Score one for Hibiki! Today the class was being split into two groups to do field work. One group - which included both Misu and Suda - was going to work with the principal's son, while the other group had been brought to the Dagoba District by Ms. Hitotsume. Hibiki had seen these types of neighborhoods on TV before, but never expected to end up in one herself. It was a bit creepy, if she was being totally honest. They were here to deal with gang activity though, and Hibiki had no intention of disappointing.

"Scumbags... Beat these guys up before I kill them, please~."

That almost sounded like something her mother would say.

"Heroes aren't supposed to kill people!" Hibiki exclaimed. More concerning though, was that these guys were armed. One of them even had a gun! If she tried to rush them down, she'd probably get shot. To avoid getting herself injured, Hibiki moved herself behind Herc. He was the biggest guy and probably the toughest. Maybe he was bulletproof? Or bullet-resistant? "If you can get them distracted, I can bite the guy with the gun really hard," she whispered, having to get up on her tiptoes to even somewhat reach Herc's ears.

The bottom line was that Gavin had lots of tricks up his sleeve. That was what Aurora had gathered from their conversation, though over the course of getting back to the arena, the topic had changed more than a few times. By the time they were back, she wasn't really sure how they'd gotten to where they were in the conversation; only that they were there.

But that didn't matter anymore! There were things to do here right now. Like meet that new fighter! The message said that their name was Ross, right? Probably a guy. A tall one, with lots of muscle. That was the kind of person the name "Ross" made her think of. Thus, one could imagine Aurora's surprise when - upon getting to the same room where she'd met the other fighters when they first arrived - she was met with a totally-normal-looking girl. Something about her eyes was putting Aurora off, but she didn't pay it much mind.

"You must be Ross," Aurora smiled as she stepped closer to the current gathering of Ross, Cyanthrax, and Morgan. "I'm Aurora, a hero-in-training back home, but it's looking like Mauvache didn't approve of me trying to live up to that here. Nice to meet you!"

  14. fccpSmd.png

Everything was going swimmingly. That was never a word Sammi managed to fully wrap her head around, but she got the idea of it at least. Only one bandito remained, which other students were already taking the initiative of finishing off. That just left some of those turret orbs. With her mech now free from the banditos harpooning it down, Sammi started up the rotors once again, her mech taking off from its sad grounded position as her pulse cannons charged up another pair of shots. Before taking off to help finish the job, her mech turned in its place, cannons pointed at the orb (#8) that was firing at one of her fellow students.

And then she pulled the trigger, cannons aimed and ready. The recoil from the shot, combined with Sammi turning on the front thrusters of her mech for a short moment, did an excellent job of propelling her backwards, getting across the length of the ship much faster than she would have otherwise gone.

    "Excellent questioning Kanon!"

"Er-uh... thanks." That kind of hit her out of left field. Was it really that good of a question? It seemed pretty obvious to her. The compliment did bring a smile to her face though. And that warm fuzzy feeling that she did something really well. Oswald followed up with his own suggestions. Toxic runoff that the Skrelp may have been feeding from. Pollution was its own, different concern to Kanon, but it was probably best to take things one issue at a time.

"Well we don't have much funding to really research that kind of thing. Specially with the League how it is these days. This may take more time but it's a lot cheaper than moving a whole mess of food. But if you really want to check it out you can go rent out some diving suits in the city. Just gotta wait a bit while we clear all this up first."

    Diving suit rentals. Noted.

"I dun wanna swim. Too much...water. Too much movin'. Do we hafta?"

There was also that concern. "You don't have to," Kanon sighed. "I want to see what's down there though. And maybe catch one of the little guys for myself." Which meant she'd have to go to the rentals. Maybe she could find one of those floatie rings for Nomi or something if she was lucky enough. No time like now. And it would give the workers some time to clear up the area around the crane too.

"What about you?" she asked Oswald. "Ever been diving before?" Not that I have.
