"Yo, you know there are better places to take a nap, right?"

Someone else's voice had joined Kyouko and Fedora Guy up on the roof. Kyouko turned, recognizing the face. He'd been at CoffeeCards a few days ago, right? Did he ever introduce himself? ...Kyouko couldn't recall him ever doing that, let alone what his name would have been if he had. He looked like a Haruki to her, but that probably wasn't his name.

    "U-um... hi, Kyouko,"

"Hey," she responded, only briefly glancing back at the boys again before turning her attention back to her phone. While they were talking about clubs - Fedora Guy mentioned the idea of an Entertainment Duel Club - Kyouko's phone buzzed in her hand. Then a second time. And a third. It kept going, and Kyouko kept reading the messages as they popped up on her phone, waiting a short moment after the last one to make sure Jun didn't have anything else to add, waving back when she saw Jun waving from way down there.

    yea
met her a few days ago
    she's really funny
talks about being a dark princess of something
    really likes chips too
    how bout you?
    what your doing
    not if you like chips
    but do you like chips?
have you punched that weirdo yet?

I don't think a dark princess is the type of person I'd want in my club. Not that princesses are a thing outside of fairy tales anyway... I wonder if she'd be on board with that club Fedora Guy was talking about? Maybe not, if she was already trying out for the regular one that already existed.

could go for some chips now that you mention it. might get some. haven't seen the weirdo from coffeecards yet, but trying not to hit anyone, even if they deserve it.

And... send. Chips sounded good. They went well with tacos. Sour cream & onion flavor. Kyouko made for the door again, calling out to the boys on the roof. "I'm going to a vending machine. If either of you have something you want and can pay me back for it, speak up."

"Are you all kiddin' me?! Y'all are just going along with this?"

Natsumi simply nodded. Even if they didn't "just go along with this", what were their other options? They had no money, nor the means to get any, short of duel tournaments. But trying to go rogue and winning those would just keep alerting KaibaCorp to their location. For better or worse, there were really no other options left but to see what else Project Crimson had in store for them. With everyone now having their marks, it was at least safe to assume the experiments themselves were over.

The other Signers, however, were in a state of chaos. Tora just wanted to go home, Leiko was apparently new to all this (according to the thug anyway), to say nothing of the others. Natsumi was doing her best to pay attention to the task at hand, but they sure were making that tough. Trying to keep an eye on her duel spirit to ensure it didn't start any trouble only exacerbated the task.

And then, like the closest thing to an angel this madhouse of a meeting could hope for, he appeared. Blues Kaiba, the recently-promoted CEO of KaibaCorp, the man who had explained what the project itself was, and the owner of a rather gaudy-looking jacket. From the sound of what he'd said though, there was not only a need for heroes right now, but Blues was willing to generously compensate everyone for their time in the labs and the task they were about to face off with. What a sudden turn of--

"I have an objection. I have no need to be compensated. I'm not really sure what you need a 'billion dollars?' for anyway. However, I'm fine just knowing that I'll save others from harm. So, I will refuse his offer."

"Your heart's in the right place, but you should take the money. There's no rule saying you have to spend it all on yourself."

"I'm in. Though, I'll have to go with the money and home myself. The money will help me back home... And I want to talk to you about the situation in Hearthome once we figure out what's going on with the missing people."

    Like that.

"I'll also accept your offer, Mr. Kaiba. However, I'd like to talk about the state of Hearthome City as well, after we've handled the missing people issue." If Natsumi thought really hard, she could still see the city before its fall from grace, in vague memories. Seeing that restored to reality was far more valuable to Natsumi than a bank account. The green-haired girl cast a contented nod in Octavia's direction. It was nice that someone else cared about the city.

Scrap Worm, in the meantime, appeared to have disappeared. As if it had burrowed into the ground, but without a hole to serve as evidence. He'll be back. Probably just running around the prison to check for any dumpsters or something.

The cannibal assaulting the group had stopped moving. Seemed that Nani's Thunder Wave had come in handy after all! Everyone else seemed to stop too, if only for a very tiny moment before Marie suddenly let out a powerful blast of water onto the Skuntank, finishing him off. She also seemed just about finished, as the former Popplio fell onto her back. Ouch. Nani headed over to her to make sure she was alright.

"I don't think we should sleep here."

"Good thinking." If these guys got back up, that would be bad news. Nani leaned over, holding her hands out for Marie to help her back onto her feet, and turned her face toward the boys. "You two don't mind a bit more walking, right? We're already awake now after all."

"Stand behind me; grab onto me if you have to."

Eh? Grab onto him? That was a hard pass from Hibiki. He seemed like a nice guy and all, but...

"How about... you give me your badges, and make it easier for the both of us."

Change of plan! Hibiki loosely gripped Suda simply to avoid getting pulled into... well, whatever it was he was doing. She didn't feel any wind against her, so it couldn't have been a Quirk like that. Whatever Suda's Quirk was, it seemed pretty neat. The girl that had attacked her was already down on the ground, turning herself to be perpendicular to Hibiki and Suda, and casting the latter a dirty look.

"Nice trick." On her spot on the ground, the girl started rolling in place, faster and faster. Like a whirring engine of rolling. "But if I wanted to see cheap tricks, I'd go find a street performer!" The girl suddenly extended out an arm and leg, launching herself forward and upward with her sheer momentum. However, even after launching herself in such a way, her lower half continued spinning rapidly, prompting HIbiki to let go of Suda and slide beneath the assailant and into the center of the gravity Suda had made. Which left Suda with an incoming girl whose lower half was spinning in vicious circles, each leg stretched out and threatening to slam him clean in the midsection.

How do her legs do that!? And for that matter, how am I supposed to fight her without screaming again? I'd hurt Suda too. Maybe if I bit her a bunch.

The mysterious white-haired man - known apparently as Mr. E - went around the table, introducing the other successful members of Project Crimson. Natsumi made a point to keep track of all the names and faces as he went around, but gave a particular look of disdain when he joked about her having the foot mark. It wasn't until he introduced everyone that he explained their purpose for being here. Which he described as a slumber party. Take this seriously, would you?

It was then that the other Signers began to introduce themselves personally. Starting with Shannon, who by her own account, was from Cradle City. She seemed confident that having the mark of the head meant that she was the head of the group. If she wanted to manage these people, then as far as Natsumi cared, she could bloody well have it. Kiyoko and Raijin followed, introducing themselves, or at least their dragons. The fourth to introduce herself spoke far more quietly, and didn't introduce herself so much as her dragon. Which explained the horrific serpentine creature coiled around her. What a ghastly dragon.

"I like this guy!" a raspy, metallic voice cheered from behind her, as Natsumi's own duel spirit reared its ugly head. "He looks like a dragon with an appetite! I appreciate you, big guy." The creature in quesetion - a metallic worm, about the size of Natsumi herself, slid up to Hotaru and her dragon, seemingly eyeing the pair over.

"At least try to behave yourself," Natsumi sighed under her breath, seeing no reason to stop her worm from running off to socialize with others. Better they had to put up with Scrap Worm than her. Getting up to her feet, the girl cleared her throat, reaching into her blazer pocket and pulling out a white card. "I'm Natsumi, from Hearthome City. My duel dragon is Scrap Dragon, and I possess the mark of the foot. There isn't any deeper meaning to find behind it."

"T-Tch...jeez that hurt. For your information...I'm not stupid. Just ended up forgetting where I was laying down is all. Plus no one else comes up this direction around this time...so never had to deal with that before."

"You're just stupid, got it." That was quite the answer he'd given her. In the end though, it all just boiled down to not paying attention, right? Kyouko moved closer to the edge of the roof, looking through the chain-link fence down to the students below. There sure were a lot of them running around down there today. She was glad she was up here, and not down there. Just the thought of being caught in that big of a crowd made her a bit queasy. Kyouko sat down, looking at the boy whose head she'd hit with the door.

"And... you're up here why exactly? Clubs are recruiting, so shouldn't you be looking for one or helping whoever you're with reel in new members?" As she fished around in her hoodie pocket, Kyouko added a quick "I'm not interested in joining whatever you're about to suggest, before you ask." Try as she may have to not think about today's upcoming duel, it wouldn't leave her mind. Would it be a big public thing with lots of spectators?  What happened if she lost in front of all those people? She was starting to understand the kind of pressure the duel team members maybe felt when there was a tournament or sometehing. Good thing she didn't want to join them.

That didn't mean she couldn't talk with any of its members though. Kyouko opened her impressively tiny contacts list, selecting the only other human being in the list besides herself. Maybe sending and receiving a few texts would help shake off these nerves. Looking down at the crowds again, one head in particular stood out to her. Or rather, one hat sitting atop a specific head, that she'd recognize anywhere. She's got a few people with her. New recruits probably. Hopefully I don't distract her too much texting her.

Are those new recruits for your duel team? (Look up at the roof.)

You asked this about Ganondorf on YCM and the answer is about the same. I can do some gimmicky shit better than you, but you understand how to actually play fighting games.

Also because you actually still have Skullgirls installed maybe.

    Day 8, 8:00, Arena
    Points: 61

    W/L Record: 3/3

    From: Gavin
    To: Aurora
Morning Aurora. Believe me, I felt the same way the last couple days myself. But yeah, given that Mauvache sent that message saying we're sort of free today, yeah, I'm not busy. Where are we needing to meet for this?

Oh. That was fast. Aurora read over the message. He was available after all!

I'm having breakfast right now, but shouldn't be long. At the front door, maybe?

And then Aurora's phone beeped with yet another message. She was feeling pretty popular this morning!

    From: Angela
    To: Aurora

    Good morning!

Really sorry for forgetting to schedule our meeting. Will you be free this afternoon? I don't think I'll be occupied all day. Just message me whenever, alright?

I'll get in contact with her after my event battle. Man, Aurora would be pretty busy today, wouldn't she? That was fine. The more stuff she had to do in a day, the better. A little hard work never hurt anyone. As such, the cryomancer wasted no time downing her tasty breakfast, before getting up and heading out. She made sure to clean up after herself first, of course. What kind of lousy eater didn't do that? Aurora headed for the front door of the Arena. Today felt like a good day for getting stuff done, though part of it might have been that weird funk she'd been in lately.

"Suda Hiroharu, the one and only!"

    "Nice to meet you!"

"And we don't need to walk ya know, I can fly too! Although I guess you can hear better if we walk... well, ya let me know if anything else comes up."

"Roger!" Hibiki continued to lead the way toward the mystery sound. As she got closer, she and eventually Suda would be able to hear that it was a child crying, though something about it sounded a bit off. For one, it sounded like it was coming from some cheap speaker from deep within a dark cave Hibiki's ears had led the pair to. For two, there were other voices in there. Students, it sounded like... no, just one student. Were they lost in there? Hibiki removed her sunglasses, tucking them into her pocket for now. "I'm going in there; wait out here for just a bit!" Hibiki started toward the cave, but just as she took her first steps...

    "-WORTH ANYTHING!"

"Wahh!" Hibiki jumped in place, turning around to check that that dangerous girl wasn't nearby... no sign of her. Hibiki pointed in the direction her voice had come from. "Those dangerous girls are that way, so don't go over there. I'll just be a second!" Hibiki hurried deeper into the cave, letting out that inaudibly high-pitched sound again to map the place out. Oh yeah, there was definitely a student in here. She'd have to be careful. While the cave was dark, it didn't seem to be all that deep. In fact, it was only a few dozen steps in that she found herself at the source of the crying. It was some sort of doll. Hibiki picked it up, prompting it to stop crying. As she turned to leave though, she heard the voice of another student.

    "Got one~"

    "Eh?"

Before she knew it, the other student lunged at her, just barely missing most of Hibiki but scratching clean across her wings. "Owowowowow!" She had to get out of here! But first, she had to slow this attacker down. And there was one way to do that. Hibiki took in as deep a breath as she could, before letting loose a deafening screech. Being that close to the source had to hurt! Suda would have definitely heard it too, and she wouldn't be surprised if the entire forest area heard her either. She could hear her assailant fall to the floor, probably gripping their ears as they let out a stream of profanities in Hibiki's direction. The bat girl hurried out of the cave, holding the doll up for Suda to see. Attached to its chest was a badge "Second badge, get! And um, sorry if I hurt your ears or something just now, but..."

"Hold it right there!" From within the cave, not far behind Hibiki, another girl emerged, one hand clamped tightly over her ear. "Hand over those badges, and this will be a lot easier for both of us."

So I already know you liked Zombieland Saga, for what it's worth I did too obviously, but I'm curious if there was anything about the series that left a particularly bad taste in your mouth? And given that we'll likely get a second season, what are some things you're hoping to see from it?

I didn't like the way some things were handled in the 7th and final episodes, which I won't go into detail about for the sake of spoilers. As for a second season, anything is fine if Saki is there.

"Oh, hey there! Nice to meet you Kanon, I'm Jacklyn. Oh, and she's Cherry. Oh wait, are you guys also adventurers? That makes this even better! Right Ivan? Then it's even more a pleasure to meet you guys!"

"Pleased to meet you, though calling us adventurers might be a bit generous..." Kanon cast a small smile to the pokemon belonging to these trainers. Verbal creatures or not, they were part of this conversation too, right? The ferry captain announced that it would be fifteen minutes before taking off, and that the voyage itself would take a few hours. Seemed like Kanon & pals would likely be sleeping in whatever town they landed in if that was the case. Which probably meant another night in some cramped room. Eugh. The idea of just heading out to the city limits and setting up camp there seemed pretty appealing.

"We now have enough people to do a Battle Royal. This boat ride just got a bit more exciting."

"Battle Royale?" Now that wasn't something Kanon was so familiar with. She knew that battles were mostly done between one trainer and another, but tag-team battles weren't unheard of either. But whatever Ivan was on about, it certainly was foreign to her. Must have been a regional thing from wherever he came from. Leaning over a bit closer to Oswald, Kanon whispered "What's a Battle Royale?"
