I do realize that the banishing effect is one that really makes it situational in which deck it's being used with. However, knowing that there are a number of well used cards (such as Desires or Snow) that set it up by itself make it pretty easy to get out onto the field. But, beyond that, its function would make it a very strong sideboard piece as against something like Runick you now have a single card that your opponent's entire gameplan is setting up or making stronger.

As for the stat balancing, I had a lot of trouble with it admittedly. It's a hard balance to strike because you have cards like Desires or any of the various new Pot-of-cards that involve mass card banishing that could possibly bust this card wide open, though there is the avenue of adding in a clause for reducing or eliminating battle damage your opponent takes it's already a bit of a soupy card as it is.

Overall, I have to admit I had a few too many ideas for this card. I wanted to make something a little Exodius-like but with a different spin, but the more I worked on it the more complex it got. It cultivated an archetype I designed later that I'm about to post, though, and I did have fun making it, but you're right in saying that this is more like 2 or 3 cards in one and being more focused in what it does would make it a more solid design.

Thought of Desires but it being at 2 made me think it is a bit unreliable. Same for something like Gold Sarc + Necroface (although Necroface can also use Allure and really anything else). Did not think of Snow, but I think it is because of the current banned status. I think the pot that excavates cards is ok but as a +0 that either barely allows the Summon requirement or leaves it at 1800 ATK at most, it wasn't something I've been too sold on. I just remembered Gizmekk though, that ought to help a lot, but this is now on the realm of a deck focused around it.
    - - - -
Hmm I was thinking on more specific suggestions....
I'm aware the card has immunity built in (and re-reading my previous post I don't think I kept that in mind after the half point of what I wrote there), so it won't be getting Veilered'd or anything any time soon.

I think it could do without the 1 discard part of the Summon. I think the part of returning all your banished cards when you have 5+ is good enough of its own. The ATK goes up small enough to be beatable even with the immunity so scratching that discard wouldn't be a risky thing.

I also would suggest that the cards it discards for cost to activate the effect instead were "discard and banish, face-down". That way each of your "discards" would fuel +300 ATK, and make it so that if it gets taken down you already have some of the cost ready for another copy. I'm thinking of that excavating Pot card and then using this card's eff to "discard" 2 and hit 1 in opponent's GY and 1 in opponent's field. You then would be left with a 2400 ATK unaffected monster. 2700 with the End Phase Exodia piece banished. It sounds good enough to make a deck around

The last effect being re-read almost gave me a heart attack as I was finishing the previous suggestions, and thankfully it says "by this card's effect". So that plus the clause you having to slow Tribute it instead of it just flowating into a +5.... that is great, I can confidently say this last part of the card wouldn't break a version if your card with my suggestions xD
    - - - -

Oh, that last effect was worrysome until I read "banished by this card's effect". I think I have another suggestion. Instead of "5 cards banished face-down via this card", have it be something like 3 (or 4 depending on testing) banished Exodia pieces regardless of how they were banished or if they are up or down.

I'm thinking Exodia is a pretty big part of the flavor so you hitting any limbs with Desires means your effect can never really retrieve them, and you only end up having to reshuffle all banished cards and start rolling the strategy all over again hoping to not hit limbs.... that sounds a bit too fragile. Aaaaaaand the reason I suggest an amount less than 5 is because my suggestion would go the other way around and encourage a turbo "banish everything then tribute this and win" button.... and that'd be the opposite of an improvement xD
Just an extra suggestion, to see if you find it interesting.

  2. Thread is almost 1 year old but I think the game has been somewhat kind to this monster. The Reptilianne Tuners created in the last few years IRL make it fairly easy to make (because sure as heck the Venom monsters aren't known for their Tuners coming from the GX era xD ). Still, something like this could use a power boost. I recommend some things but since it'd be lenghty to bullet point each, I'll just write down everything in a single effect, and you'll see whatever you might like to take or leave from there:

When this card is Synchro Summoned: Take 1 "Venom Swamp" from your Deck or GY, and place it on either player's Field Zone. Once per turn: You can place 1 Venom Counter on each face-up non-Reptile monster on the field. Monsters with Venom Counters cannot target cards with their effects.

^This would be in my opinion a lot more fun. Faster Counter production, you can have 2 swamps on the field with this and an extra search for what is the key card. A whooping -1000 per counter and 3 counters per turn so even a blue-eyes could die in a turn best case scenario. Of course, Venom Swamp is an End Phase effect, which is slow enough to not be banworthy even though it sounds inssuferable to go against (not like Reptiliannes wouldn't already 0 out monsters quick anyways).

  3. Umm it isn't too bad but it sounds like a casual fun card.
It is a nomi where I would thank the recycling of banished cards, but requiring at least 5 means you basically need Necroface or Pot of Desires to have gone through to reliable Summon this card in a serious environment, and Necroface is a bit more reliable for the refreshing banished bit.
It gains some ATK but in that sense it is no Gren Maju, not that Gren Maju is all that amazing either, and granted that I get your card does slightly lesser versions of the effects because it is doing various of them in one single card, but I think this is a case in which it is more favorable to run the single-niche more specialized cards for each respective use.

The huge "up to 4" discard cost is risky but I'll give it that it can minimize at 1 discard and banish 1 from field only, or 1 from GY only, and that's pretty good value on its own. Not gonna complain about the super risky "discard 4" scenario that's just an extra option.
The Forbidden One support eff should probably go "End Phase" from anybody instead of just your End Phase. It is kind of slow as it is.
The last effect could afford to say "up to 5" for flexibility. 5 turns is a lot, let along 5 of YOUR turns for the full package. Nowadays searching Exodia is not really game breaking. We got Sangan and Witch at 3 (even if they have a hard OPT errata) on top of "Fusion Deployment" that can Summon them from Deck (or Tour Guide in Sangan's case). There's also the "Obliterate!!!" trap and "Legendary Exodia Incarnate" to further support that win con. I think those are either slightly faster or slightly more flexible if we go the Exodia goal.

All in all, it does a lot of things but in a scattered and kinda diluted way. It's not a terrible thing to go for, but for my taste I'd rather it focused on 1 or 2 effects and did those niches well instead of having like 5 or 6 effects.

  4. It's been a while since this section was used I see xP
I've been doing a custom TCG project on the side of other things I've worked on over the past year or so.
From there, I got the idea of working in a sort of "how to play" booklet but with the deck's characters doing a sort of wall break explanation to the reader.
Ideally there'd be at least 4-ish more pages like this.

It looks.... VERY hand made. But still wanted to share it.

  5. I didn't see a ton of anime, and this one is most likely not "best of the year" but I guess everybody knows of Mob Psycho 200, Bocchi the Rock, or Spy x Family by now sooo here's another thing: IDK how new it really is but I found this anime called "Romantic Killer" that I liked a lot more than I expected. Fun was had.

  6. That's a case of "the grass is always greener on the other side". The other respective games have their own cases of powercreep and complexity creep going on for a while.

Pokemon's stats have been going up over time. Back in its first set Charizard at 120 HP was king in stats. Nowadays you see 330 HP pokemon with similar difficulty to play as back then's Stage 1 pokemon. There's also special mechanics that essentially are akin to "you get a stronger pokemon" but "if it dies your opponent can claim 2 prizes". We even have some triple prize mons like Tag Team and VMAX. This all comes with stronger attacks as well where you can one-shot an opponent with the right type machup or a particularly well charged move. I like Pokemon card arts in recent history though, just look at full arts and alt arts... xD

MTG is going through pure chaos. Even if you ignore all the issues out of the actual gamplay like the bad customer service, bad product quality control, bad PR moves, etc. you still have a game that's been getting more complex and fast. Powercreep is a thing even in rotation formats because the developers still feel the need to "keep things fresh". From what I heard they very much have 1 good format left in the form of Commander, while Standard and Legacy are suffering and sanctioned play in general iirc has been eliminated altogether in recent history. I'm no MTG player but I like purchasing sample decks of card games and testing them out, and I haven't been able to find non-commander decks for like 2 or 3 years, other than in a Comic Book store that has this weird looking product that costs like 3 times the price of a Yugioh deck.

Let me tell you that from my experience being taught a bit of MTG back in like 2012-2014-ish. They can be just as combo-licious as Yugioh but they go an extra step for everything to harness more mana and speed up the placing of Basic Land cards. It also has some less limitations, like the field size (which in MTG is infinite) so if you ever get trapped in a snowball effect believe me it can be dreadful.

Yugioh's tier 0 problem is objectively speaking arguably not an issue. I don't like it at all myself but I think Konami tries to have one sometimes throughout history. Usually there's an audience that wants to play against a much more predictable opponent (and it doesn't get better than against the same deck). Well this is so long as the mirror match of the tier 0 deck is skillfull enough. Dragon Ruler format, TeleDAD, and currently Tearlaments I've seen have people that advocate for them. Not so much something like the Frog FTK from back in the day so being tier 0 doesn't inherently make things skillful either.

The polar opposite is players that want a diverse format where they can homebrew and customize a bit more things. During these "eras" of the game the side deck is very different, trying to cover for the deck's own potential weaknesses rather than to hard counter a specific part of the more narrow choices of a tier 0 environment. It is temporary..... although I agree power creep in Yugioh has been picking up lately. This I say based on how early in 2022 we had stuff like Virtual Worlds, Sword Souls, even some stuff like Sky Strikers popped up, and by December those relevant decks weren't even making it to tier 3 according to most pie charts I got to see of event tops.

Another thing to note from Yugioh I noticed is that archetypes have been shying away from having their own omni-negate options. There are the decks use stuff like Fleur or Toadally Awesome but those cards were already there before. Despite the powercreep aspect Konami seems to be attempting somewhat of a change in direction here. I haven't even seen as many floodgate effects beyond the odd Sythe or Barrier Statue. Still the game is in somewhat of a transition point so it might or might not turn bad. Honestly I've been having stuff to complain about since almost the start of the game. TeleDAD felt like the definitive deck, the pinacle of evolution, the "we can't go further" point in the game... have you tried building it nowadays? It feels often weaker than a deck you'd build from buying 3 modern era structure decks.

Chess is never the best comparison. Chess is unchanging and uncustomizable and eliminates as much luck from it as possible. TCGs are a never-ending piling of pieces into a card castle, and demands a balance between skill and luck. Too much luck and no informed move from the player will seem to matter, but luck is a little fun and makes the game sometimes be just unpredictable enough to alter the way you manage your resources or flip things around.

It doesn't hurt to try out other games, but keep in mind often enough even when a card game pops up that seems to be doing better, they tend to not be able to keep up in the long run. I know of at least 1 overhaul that CardFight Vanguard had. Wixoss is I believe also in its 3rd incarnation. I lost track of Force of Will altogether. And some indie games have popped up to weird results... have you seen MetaZoo? I think it's awful but that's just me....

You're startlingly good at those creepy faces in the first one's cape

    Thanks n.n
That first one is the one that took me the most work to make xD
I don't draw creepy stuff all that often these days (back in my high school days I did draw more of it though, this last decade has been more like my kawaii drawing decade xD )

  8. So today I bring 3 different drawings.
First a Demon Girl I made for a card contest

    PzkWvGO.jpg

Second, well... in the same contest, another user drew something, and so I drew that character but in my style and without it being chibi like the original xP

    woPkNT8.jpg

Finally, a work in progress that is a retry of an older drawing. Some years ago I made a request thread and among the entries there was a Pokemon Gijinka of Omanyte. I'll start with posting the old/original version I made:

    4K0OLhT.jpg

and so this is the retry:
    C8kx5oC.jpg

These are all stuff I made today when I finally caught good weather and a good day off for this xP
Only the last one I can modify based on any feedback I might get, but feel free to point out stuff from the other ones regardless for educational purposes~

...This makes me want to somehow make these into emotes for the site

    Glad you like them xP
If you wanna see if they get accepted to be used like that by the rest of the site I'd be very glad to lend them xD
    Thanks a lot ^^

Btw, I just noticed on top of the main forum it has an anouncement:
    Happy Birthday! n.n

  10. God bless working spoilers xD
I've seen these all before, love them. Patricia's portrait is my favorite one there and I don't remember if you actually posted that one before because you had a full body version that DID make it up to statuses in commemoration of the holiday in question.

Ghost from the attic loos menacing but nobody with a smiling carbunble on top like that can be that bad xD

I kinda wanna have a go at drawing that Christmas nun. IDK she just looks elegant and I actually have a bit of trouble when designing nun outfits that look good enough....

The last ummm.... let's see... Ramona, right? I wonder what the context of her crying is. I recall the scene of her fighting a spider that kept redoing its web.

    Thank you.

Yeah, haha. That's what I was trying to redraw. Instead of redrawing it in a different style, I tried to draw redraw her as accurately as I could muster. I can share a screencap of the layers to give an idea.

I'd like to see that. Layers in the making.

  12. Umm isn't this a bit too poweerful? It being "anything so long as it's bigger" so you can easily Tribute Relinkuriboh or Sangan for almost any DARK Fiend in the game, and net a draw/search.

Hmm well, then again Transmodify and Downbeat have failed to make a real ripple in the game so maybe this winds up being the proper power level? It powercrept those cards that's for sure xD

The effect negation is probably more problematic than the Summon.... yeah, maybe nerf that to "monster effects" instead of sealing away "all effects" because it seems to affect both players. Kudos that this is searchable by Lilith and Trap Trick.

I very much like the art, like always. Good old Vampire monsters.

IS THIS A SKULL FACED SHEEP?

    umm no xD
That's a skull faced ghost. The other sketch besides it showcases it at the upper right corner of the group shot.
The theme is that the witch manages paths to/from dreams, and that little critter I call the "Nightmare Assistant".
Though she is holding an angry sheep in the sketch unlike the finished drawing.. I think I have a colored version of it around here.....

    RqRJbqP.jpg

  14. So I think it is a bit pointless to continue posting this kind of thing at my club. Not only am I the only member so I can't successfully build the sort of group of regulars I've got at the YCM club's counterpart, but this section itself also pretty much doesn't see much use so I guess we can get to it.

    - - - -

Starting up, I tested doing some sketching at work during breaks but it isn't easy for me.  This is an OC of mine called Patsy along with blobs that didn't go anywhere, but my intention was to make fruits and vegetables of exotic-looking designs or even fantasy-looking ones.
The second drawing is also her but done a little more properly at home with coloring. I was kinda sleep deprived but it still turned out kinda alright xD

    iHO65SU.jpg

    429nUk9.jpg

This one was originally meant for card art featuring a single character performing different actions. More specifically "general goodie" kinda Spell effects connected by a feature of "you can swap this card in hand for another of these cards from your Deck, which in turn cannot be swapped this turn". The first image has a broken lock inside a flame (reference to "De-Spell" but meant to be more of an MST or even maybe a Heavy Storm.... IDK). Second one is a wink at Raigeki. That's the gist of it..... swappable staples, but the drawings don't actually lend themselves well for card art due to their dimensions and composition.... still good warm up I suppose xD

    ih7hSJY.jpg

    nLvHQxa.jpg

This one was more of a request from a friend. Ib, that girl from the World Chalice storyline of the Yugioh cards. More specifically that one banned synchro. However, done in my cutesy style of dot eyes (see first spoiler here for reference). Right now just a sketch:

    hKkYVG7.jpg

This is a witch character (card) along with her team members. Not for Yugioh this time but for a custom TCG I've been designing in my spare time but that I wanna get to it in detail only when I have enough parts of it ready for it to look appealing. Two drawings again, first the colored version of her that I made earlier (probably back in December) to give a sample of her appearance in a finished drawing. The other is the sketch I actually have still waiting to re-open to work some more on it.

    p0pYMTM.jpg

    9w9gkK2.jpg

If you wanna trash them or just say "nice" feel free to tell me. Or whatever that comes to mind~

  15. Slight edit but got rid of the puffed cheek effect. It looked ugly and I already don't have such a high regard for my face as it is xD
I wish I could have given the drawing a normal smile but it kept looking like fish lips after many tries, that's why it has that sort of expression ^^"

Also, filled in a few white spots in the hair but as said above, it does lack some high lights for extra volume and quite frankly I'm not really sure how to fix that.... I probably should look around for a kneaded eraser and see if it does something.....

One more thing, I altered the neck a tiny little bit.... I confess I only wanted accuracy on the head and the original neck I only put there when I was dead half-asleep because it looked awkward as a floating head... I slightly fixed it xD

For record, these modifications require me to take additional pics of my face for reference.... It is a bit awkward for me to stare at myself like that.

That's honestly incredible, considering what a departure it is from your typical style.

I can't really think of any critique to give, the detail on this is amazing, that eyebrow holy shit. A lot of subtle work done through smudging alone.

Also Jesus christ get some sleep.

    Thanks and will do xD
Really lost track of time ^^"

Looks great, I guess my only suggestion would be to try and add depth to the hair although I'm not sure how you'd go about doing it (a light shade maybe?)

Right now the hair goes into nothing so looks like she's missing half their head lol

Ah, I see what you mean.
I am gonna try to at least get rid of the white pockets but otherwise yeah, not quite sure how to fix it.
Trial and error I suppose haha xD

    Thank you = )

  18. Ok sooo umm...
This is something I have wanted to try out for a long time but it's definitely not my style or strength at all...
Even knowing my limitations it still surprises me that I've been working 4 hours on it and now I have to wake up in like 2 more to go to work xD

The hair was a nightmare and I swear I wasn't trying to do a duckface or anything, I wanted to make one of those cute angry anime expressions.

Just get rid of the fucking forum, then, YCMaker.

Despite the history of the site over there, I kind of wish he did honestly... if it meant people looking for the card forum would come here instead. It is honestly so much better... it just lacks a bit more people that'd spend more time in the card-making (and art) sections.... and I've heard some members say the font of this site's card maker could be better.... but other than that it is almost not worth it to look for a fight over there when the admin is so focused in being this big bad unbendable "leader" that it could very well end up destroying his own site without realizing.... *shrugs*

I just wonder why now? He surely had a working staff trying to communicate more tamely since almost a decade ago and YCM had 2 years of almost complete anarchy, and nothing really outrageously bad happened... there even were less nasty bot spammers that I could find than the last year prior to NCM, almost as if they had been there on purpose.
Then now that Flame Dragon decides to give us 2 mods over there, YCMaker decides he's gonna take all possible actions on the forum in his own hands? Was he really working on a new card maker all this time since he announced it almost 2 years ago? Was he pretending to be Falling Pizza that one time? IDK.... I thought he had left the forum for dead permanently since "the card maker makes all the money"....

  20. Ah, don't be scared xD
I make the claim that everything here is merely suggestions and I won't get pushy about if you want to take any or not, and it is completely cool regardless.
It also probably got lost in all my rambling but I liked the archetype. I think this is good, and I gotta say it is probably better to be too careful than too reckless and your cards are on the careful side for the most part [thumbs up].

Trying to elaborate a bit on the things I meant:
-Xyz Monsters are the black cards with black stars in them. Since their stars are called "Ranks" instead of "Levels" they are impossible to Tribute for a Ritual Summon that needs to fill in a quota of Levels.
-Link Monsters are the other blue card templates in the game, and have absolutely no stars of any kind to speak of, nor do they have DEF stats making them impossible to affect with any position changing effects or anything that'd flip them face-down at all. On top of being non-compatible with Level-based mechanics like Rituals or Synchros....

Some of the effects I've seen (links upcoming):
    -Herald of the Arc Light-
Ignoring everything else, the last effects says it searches for a Ritual (monster or Spell) from your Deck when sent to the GY, and it works even if sent there directly from your Extra Deck, which nowadays there's a number of ways of doing just that.
    -Preparation of Rites-
This recovers your Ritual Spell and searches either one of your first 2 Rituals, all in an easy +1 Normal Spell.

errr yes, "control no cards" includes Spells/Traps as well.
Aaaaand if the banish part is because of flavor, then I think I should rework my suggestions, because I do like it when flavor plays a roll into card design, it'd be better to think of a work-around that keeps that. Even if it strives away from the easiest way to balance them for me, I think it is important that they keep their soul and sometimes it leads to more interesting workarounds... hmmm I have nothing off the top of my head but we'll see xD

and yes, double pierce heh. Here's the most notorious card that has it:
    -Blue Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon-
