  1. So, I guess this is the best place to post this honestly, but it's a bit of a discussion potentially!

Currently, I'm in the process of planning for an RP. Taadaa. But more than anything, I'm curious on how much you all plan out when you're starting the planning stages of the RP. Obviously, you can't plan out everything and still have player influence, but you can plan beats. Do you have every potential story beat planned out? Do you have a vague outline of what you want? Do you bother planning at all?

I'm curious, cause we've got a decent array of styles of hosts here, so I want to hear from some of ya. And we can use this forum a bit too.

    Favorite kind of chicken?

man, you picked a question with no answer

Chicken is one of my favorite ingredients because it's so flexible. It just SOAKS in flavor, literally if you marinade it. I guess my standouts are, like, sweet and sour chicken, oven roasted with like, mashed potatoes and gravy cause you can never go wrong with that for dinner, and then I really, really like to marinade it overnight for use in burritos/fajitas.

  3. gimme some good shit

The fucking WORST anime/animation you watched? Doesn't have to be anime specifically, animation in general counts. Just. The worst. My only thing is just tell me you've watched it in full. Some detail on what made it so awful would be loved.

What was the blandest game you've ever played? Something just forgettable, boring, anything.

Gimme your comfort foods. Stuff that's just kinda engrained and makes you feel cozy. ?

will try to think of some more

So there was a condition for victory beyond, well... Winning a fight. That was good to know, they could probably make up something to hold up in that case. Whether it was going to be, well... That was gonna be hard to figure out, honestly. She had no idea on where to even start, really. She could possibly scrounge together some ideas, a mock rescue attempt maybe, tie a hand up, who knows what it might be?

"Just drop a building on them!"

Ah, yeah, words to live by. Rika rolled her eyes a tiny bit at that, before nervously fidgeting in her seat for a brief moment. She closed her eyes as she considered the options, it was... Hard to do that, when she didn't really know what to expect. Obviously, that's what they wanted, they wanted the groups to have to think on their toes at least a little bit...

"Hey Tsubasa, Sun...and you said your name is Rika, right?"

She snapped out of her thoughts as she tilted her head up, her eyes opening at the boy who looked like he was distressed when she was introducing herself to the class. He looked like he had been dealing with a massive headache. She smiled to him, bring a hand up in a small wave, "Oh, yeah! Rika, nice to meet you too, Ben..." She took his hand, giving it a small shake as well as she nodded her head, "Yeah. Looks like it's us... Hopefu-" She didn't get to finish that thought though, instead she was quickly interrupted by cat.

"Nothing... To worry about? I dunno, I think we've got plenty to worry about. We don't know what our actual task is gonna be, aside from trying to overpower someone with more practice and experience than us." She snickered a tiny bit at the bravado from Tsubasa though, barely even noticing the mistake with her name, before raising an eyebrow, "...Fight a bear? I can't say it really ever crossed my mind. Generally you're supposed to, like... Play dead against them, right? Maybe we can do that against the bear then. I'd say we should come up with a plan, but... What can we plan for when we don't know the specifics? Hopefully we can get some actual time before the exam to plot a bit."

  5. SO.

Turkey totally isn't out of the norm, but one year we had an amazing turkey. It was perfectly moist, not dry at all, evenly cooked. Honey coated with butter and just delicious. It was also the year that we accidentally cooked the turkey upside down the entire time on accident. 10/10 would recommend cooking your turkey upside down on accident.

"Hey~ Welcome to the class! Name's Ayane, it's nice to mee--WAH!"

Rika couldn't really help but snicker a tiny bit as she watched the girl fall down onto the ground suddenly, it would've startled her, but... It was hard to not see that coming, with how far back Ayane had propped herself up. It would've been more surprising if she hadn't of fallen there. After a quick tilt of her head back to make sure that Ayane got up just fine and not injured, but she seemed to pick herself up just fine. Before she could reply though...

If you’re interested, I lead a yoga club on the roof during lunch hour. Well it’s just Omuro-san and I, but please feel free to join if you’re looking for something to do!”

She hadn't even noticed that someone was approaching her there! She blinked for a moment as she turned to Ren, a small smile on her face as she nodded her head gently, rubbing at her neck, "Oh, thank you! I know I'm lucky to be here, so hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a mistake." She sighed, before humming gently, "...Yoga, huh? I might check it out sometime. 'long as I don't have to skip lunch for it."

Before much more could happen, the substitute began to speak up once again, and...

"At the end of this week, you all will be doing a team-based exam, it says. It says here that you all are going to be facing off in teams of four against staff of the school… that seems a bit excessive…"

Rika blinked for a moment, her skin starting to turn a shade of orange slowly as she let her fingers fidget around with a pencil on her desk. She just got here. She wasn't ready to go fighting the teachers, was she? After all, she wasn't quite good enough earlier, she missed what all they had been doing before, she definitely wasn't going to be involved considering these were kinda important factors.

Plus, she didn't even know these classmates at all. They were all relatively new to each other too, of course, but she was literally brand new! How would she work with them effectively if she hardly knew any of them in the first place? At least they had some prep time.

But anyway! I'm gonna go ahead and list off the teams now, so that you all can get to know each other better ahead of time, and make plans for the end of the week!"

The first team was the Omuro girl that Ren just mentioned. The girl who introduced herself with some extra english, someone she hadn't been introduced to properly, and... Another that she didn't know yet. That didn't give her much to work with.

The next group she actually knew most of them.! Takehiko, the one Sun said he would protect, Ren himself, a name she didn't quite recognize, and floor girl.

Then... Her group. Sun was a good one to have probably, he seemed very... Honest about wanting to keep people safe, and he seemed strong. She wasn't excessively strong herself... But the other two? She hadn't met them yet, and... Despite Sun seeming strong, she didn't really know anyone's Quirk so far. She was going to have to get caught up quickly, she wasn't going to drag them down on this... Before she realized it, she brought her bright orange hand up into the air, looking towards Dreadbolt as she did, "Ah... Does the sheet say anything about whether we're expected to actually win? With a numbers advantage, I get the idea of us holding up at least a bit, but... Winning seems like a long shot any way I look at it."

"Hello, I am Sun! I like your quirk! It reminds me of home!"

She paused for a moment at that, she wasn't expecting him to be so... Eager? He looked intimidating, she was thinking of something a bit more... Maybe reserved wasn't the term she was looking for but... "Hello, reminds you of home, huh? Well... Hopefully that's a good reminder then!" She grinned a bit sheepishly, before hearing him speak up again.

"If you ever feel scared, just come find me! I'll protect you! You and Takehiko!"

"Eh? Well, thanks!" She gave him a small smile, but... She didn't have the heart to tell him that if she couldn't protect herself, she shouldn't even be here. That was the entire point of Heroes in the literal sense, to try and protect others. If she couldn't keep herself safe... What was the point?

The girl who introduced herself next, Diana, she seemed a bit out of it. Maybe shaken. She didn't really know why, but... "The test was fine, I mean... I almost made it, I just didn't do well enough. That's my fault. I should've pushed myself a bit harder, or figured something out. That's no fault of the test." She rubbed at her neck a tiny bit, before smiling to Diana and nodding slightly, "It's nice to meet you too."

The conversation after the fact, the dogguy getting angry... And Sun here telling her to avoid making him mad was something to keep in mind, but she couldn't deny that he had a point there. She had no idea what happened exactly, was it related to the empty spot that opened up for her? Did someone have to die for her to have this opportunity...?

"I hope I get used to this..." She muttered gently as Diana ended her own sentence, a deep breath escaping her as she tried to relax a little bit.

"Ah, hello there! My name is Takehiko, pleased to make your acquaintance!"

She gave him a nod, and was about to speak up, but just as quickly as he spoke, he had already left and made his way to that desk of his, her hand moving to rub at her neck lightly. The activity in the room was hectic, it was... Hard to ignore that everyone seemed a little on edge. Her colors shifted a bit, her hands folding across her desk... And changing color to blend in with it, making it hard to tell they were even there as she sighed.

    I don't really like movies.

It's... Gotta sound weird, right? There are definitely good movies out there, I love stuff like Secret of Kells, movies that are based on folklore can be really cool, mystery stuff is probably the closest I get to favorite genre.

But I have a real hard time getting super invested in movies because it's so hard to establish a world/good characters in a short amount of time. One of the things Marvel movies had going for them was a constant narrative in a way and reoccurring characters, so even though the movies weren't the best, it was easy for me to watch them.

That doesn't really answer the question, but I mean, the list of movies I've actually watched is super short because of this.

    Huh.

She hadn't really expected anyone to give her any mind when she showed up, except maybe to ridicule her for being here when she didn't pass before, but... There was a pretty decent reaction after all. Aside from the boy who was rubbing his head like he was dealing with a headache, there was... Surprisingly a decent reception. No one outright telling her not to be here, at the very least. Maybe she had let her nerves get the best of her earlier after all. As she made her way to the desk, she heard a comment from one of the students on the other side of the room.

    Don't waste her chance.

She rolled her eyes a tiny bit, her tail curling around the leg of the chair as she settled in. She didn't need him to tell her that, it was... Well, it was obvious, it didn't take a genius to find out she got lucky to be here. The steady shift of colors across her body had settled down as she relaxed a bit, it felt good to not be the center of attention anymore... Right up to the point that she saw someone turning around in his desk, doing his best to get a better look at her as he held out his hand.

"Hi. I'm Hideyo," he said happily. "And I think your quirk is the coolest thing I've seen. Ever!"

She paused for a moment, before she reached over to take his hand with a sheepish grin on her face, "Aw, geez, I dunno about that really. Uh... I think if it was the coolest thing ever, I would've gotten in without having to get a little lucky." She laughed gently, her other hand rubbing at the back of her neck as she glanced up at the ceiling. "It's not, like... Terrible, at least! My dad had it bad, he didn't get any of the stuff mine can do. He was pretty nervous when I was born."

She trailed off as she looked around the room, getting a look at some of the... Other students. Most of them looked pretty normal, except for maybe the guy who had just started talking to Dreadbolt there... And the giant man next to her who did not look like he was the same age as the rest of them. She wasn't going to question it though, what was the point? With the world how it was, he might be the youngest one here for all she knows!

    It was time.

Somehow, someway, she was getting into U.A. It wasn't... It wasn't real. It actually wasn't. She wasn't supposed to be here, she was meant to be, well, in the general course. It was good enough for her, really. She had just barely missed out on being in the Hero Course before, one spot behind. The message that there was an empty spot, if she wanted it, was enough to send her heart into a panic when she read it. It took a bit of... Persuading to let her parents make the transfer. Well, that wasn't entirely correct.

"You made it? Well... Good for you, dear. I know I've never been quiet about my distaste for the Hero business, but if this is what you want... I'll support it."

Her mom was about as... Straightforward as it gets. She didn't care about heroes. She didn't see the magic behind it, she just saw the attitudes of the ones who came into her shop. The same as any customer.

Her dad, on the other hand... There was a lot of proud blubbering from him and vague promises of making sure she got all the training she could ever need. He was a lot more involved than mom was. She expected that much.

And now... She was in front of the class, waiting for the mark to go in and introduce herself. She had heard about the Hero Course students, she knew there were some... Interesting sorts in there. Her skin started to turn a mix of red and blue, swirling patterns across her body as she took a deep breath and closed her eyes...

"She will be replaced by the next runner-up in the entrance exam! Hoshinoooooo Rika!"

She steadied her breathing slightly, her tail flicking on the ground behind her for a moment as she blinked, opening up her eyes as she heard her name, eh?

"-tudents to be punctual??? Can't I get one damn break???"

She muttered underneath her breath lightly, pushing the door open as the swirls of color along her body seemed to shift and move along it, before starting to fade back to normal as she walked into the room. "I'm sorry, I'm here! I was lost in thought a bit. Uh... My name is Hoshino Rika, and it's good to be here! I barely didn't make it before, and I thought I wasn't going to ever get the chance again... But I'm glad to be here now!"

She rubbed at her cheek a tiny bit, whispering to herself as she glanced at the class, "Am I supposed to introduce my Quirk? I think so. Uh, my Quirk is Chameleon. It's pretty... Straightforward, I won't demonstrate, it'll crop up over the day almost for sure." True to her word, as she spoke up, her skin started turn a shade of brown, darkening more as she gulped. She glanced from side to side, before turning towards Dreadbolt, "I'm gonna go sit down now."

"Okay, everyone, she's just gonna sit down now! Uhh there is an empty spot right there, you can take that I think. Nobody else is supposed to be there right?"

She quickly made her way towards the empty desk, settling down with a little sigh as she closed her eyes and slumped back into her new seat. Her body was starting to change color again, slowly reverting back to normal as she relaxed a bit, her hands settling down against it as she dropped her bag onto the ground next to her. Her hands moved to her tail, sliding it through the back of the seat to help give her some breathing room... It was time.

"We all answer for our sins eventually, but Mari is gracious."

    ⊱ ────── {❀} ────── ⊰

    Name: Elita Thomas

    Age: 20

    Sex: Female

    Appearance:

    Spoiler

    44FTIpW.jpg

Elita stands at roughly 5’8, give or take a few inches depending on if she’s wearing high heels at the time. She doesn’t disclose her weight very often, but it’s noted that it tends to fluctuate depending on if she’s using her power a lot recently.

    Biography:

    Spoiler

Born in Toulouse, France to a moderately well off family, Elita has a simple life. She didn’t really struggle in school, and her parents were loving, despite being busy to maintain their lifestyle…

As a child, even as a toddler, Elita seemed oddly perceptive. She was always around to comfort her parents when things had gone wrong with something they were working on, and she often acted a pillar of support for her friends and loved ones as she grew older. It wasn’t uncommon for her to act as a confidant for those who were suffering through hard times, it wasn’t hard to imagine why. She seemed to ooze confidence and concern to those who knew her, often drawing out the worst of their troubles without having to do much at all. After chats with her, it always seemed like her friends would leave feeling better, and she would beam and give them a tight hug before leaving herself.

This never really changed, but once she turned 13, she… Became oddly spiritual. It wasn’t too weird, her mother was a practicing Catholic and regularly would bring her daughter to services with her, but from 13 on, she took a role in the church that even her mother didn’t expect. She began to research things, and started to look for different prophets and those associated with the religion, though… She always seemed to be disappointed by what she had learned. She started spending more time out of her house, and in local libraries and archives, scouring for anything.

It wasn’t until her 14th birthday that her mother had realized just how much time Elita had been spending outside of the house in those musty archives, thanks to Elita attempting to cover it up. She questioned Elita, trying to draw out what her daughter had been up to…

“Mari spoke to me, and said I need to find her.”

Elita said that with such conviction… And her mother just looked at her with confusion. She tried to draw out more information from her, but Elita knew nothing else, besides a single name. Elita didn’t frame it as something religious, but her mother knew something strange was happening. She talked with Elita’s father and the two decided they needed to watch Elita more carefully.

It was around this time that Elita had began to grow more aware of her powers. Her parents weren’t special. They didn’t understand the gift she had, or how important her search was, so she began to distance herself from them. She listened to the weary who needed a shoulder to cry on. She talked to those on their way to work on the subway. She began to understand what her special thing was. She could soothe people, she could help them… She could understand them.

So she did. For a year, she devoted herself to bettering her home, to helping those who were down. She spent much of her time at homeless shelters, volunteering and bringing calm to those that she could. It was through her volunteer work that she had met with some… Unsavory people, with criminal pasts. Over the course of the year, she believed that this deity was talking to her, guiding her to do good and help those who needed it...

While normally, this wouldn’t be an issue, she steadily became more unstable in her devotion to her cause. While she rarely caused any physical harm to people, she began to twist people’s emotions to manipulate them, using her knowledge to pry into their weaknesses, their fears. The more she worked and learned her abilities, the more Mari spoke to her, guided her… She heard rumors of an underground world, full of people who she could help. Who cared if they were villains? Everyone can stray from the light, it can happen to anyone, she thought. They were no less deserving of help. She managed to get into contact with a few people who had connections to this underground world to help her get enrolled into Center Lowhaven High, where she could pursue her goal. Bring these lost souls into contact with Mari, and hone her powers to the point where, one day, the entire world would be able to see Mari once again...

Overlap Additions: She only spent three years at the Villain School. It was long enough to help her hone her powers, use them properly, but they absolutely were not interested in seeing the light she so desperately wanted to bring to them. It was frustrating to her, none of the sinners were ready to repent, but... That was okay. She knew this was always going to be an uphill battle, the modern world didn't change so easily compared to the ancient one, religions were entrenched into the modern day life of many. She took her leave from the school, with a much better grasp on her powers than ever before, to travel the world a bit and try to spread the word. Of course, many weren't interested in hearing what she had to say.

Despite that, she managed to scrounge together a small following. Her ability to be well-dressed, to live in high class hotels despite not having any income at all, it was paranormal to people. She wasn't shy about it either, espousing the idea that her true faith meant that Mari was always providing for her, making sure she would be taken care of. For some people, that message meant a lot to them, it gave them something to help bring them up in life. Whether it would last was another thing entirely...

Especially considering being dragged into a new world. It was a miracle even she wasn't expecting. She hadn't finished her job in the last one, let alone prepared to start her process here. But, it didn't matter. The goal was always to gain more experience, to learn how to handle her powers in the most extreme manner. For Mari.

    Personality:

    Spoiler

Elita sees herself as a Prophet of a Forgotten Goddess, destined to bring her back to the forefront of the religious world, by any means necessary. Her personality is energetic when talking about her ‘position’ and eager to draw people into her fold, though she doesn’t ‘pressure’ people into joining her. She believes they will all see the light at some point, no matter how resistant they are. As a result, she’s friendly to everyone she talks to, hoping to speed the process along while keeping good will with as many as she can to avoid making things awkward later.

Beyond that, her energy transitions to most things in her life. She’s eager and pleasant to be around, if not a little bit overbearing at times, while still maintaining an air of composure when things are serious. She frequent references the ‘teachings’ of her Goddess to those around her, especially things that she thinks might be relevant to the situation at hand, as she believes that even the simplest action can have meaning from Mari.

The most damning part of her personality though is how she doesn’t see herself as a villain. She’s justified her attendance of visiting the academy as an ‘olive branch’ to the poor, lost souls in the underworld, to bring them back towards Mari and into her light…

But her view of doing that by any means required definitely qualifies her as a villain. She has no problem abusing her power to try and manipulate people into trusting her, or seeing her as something greater than she actually is, and will actively try to figure out the emotions of people around her in an attempt to work her way into their good graces. Despite her relatively unassuming appearance, she can have a way with words which catches people off guard.

She's more than happy to pull emotional tricks on people who open up to her if she feels she can show them the 'right' path to follow, and her ultimate goal isn't to be the most powerful, but... To bring back her beloved Goddess, the one who she knows will set things right in the world. She may not know what right is, but she knows someone who does.

Overlap Additions: Following the three years after she attended the Villain School, Elita's resolve has hardened. She's become a lot more... Firm about Mari's Guiding Hand, and while she still tries to coax people to her calmly without fire and brimstone tactics, if her beliefs are challenged in a way she doesn't like, she may turn towards a more aggressive stance. She still doesn't see herself as a villain, despite her time at the school and the fact that, well, she's willing to mind control anyone to get them to agree with her, her delusions are as strong as they ever were. Because of this, her powers amplified themselves, her will easier to implant over others who aren't equipped to fight against it.

    Villain Information

    Alias: Prophet

    Spoiler

    Empath

Elita's power stems from her ability to sense and ‘read’ the emotions of other people, allowing her to determine the moods and temperaments of other people without needing to spend too much time around them. Using this, an Empath can become very adept at using their knowledge of other's emotions to try and manipulate people, or attack them in personal ways if they wish to do so.

But her powers don't stop there, as that's just a general application of her ability. Empath's come in all kinds of flavors, but for Elita, her main capability is Empathic Healing. She has the capability to take the pain of others onto herself, letting them ignore the pain as if the wound never happened... Without healing the wound. She can use this on her allies to help get them to a safe location and get them physical help, or to take on the burden of an emotional wound they've suffered.

Of course, she can also use it on her enemies, taking their pain and making it to where they might not notice a wound, letting them make the injury worse and strain their bodies in ways they wouldn't normally if they aren't aware of her powers. She isn’t extremely adept at this at the moment, only able to use it when she’s in direct contact with people, thus making it extremely hard to use in combat of any sort. Instead, she’s used it as a way to further her Prophet role.

She could have those who were lame walk, bring the sick out of their beds for periods of time, and even let the blind ‘see’... Or at least feel like they could see for a brief moment of time. She would tell them it’s all part of her faith, allowing her to heal those… Though it wouldn’t last if they didn’t devote themselves to Mari.

While the emotion sensing part of her power is almost always in effect to some degree, the second one is more focused and she has to be in contact with her target to be able to use it. A more skilled Empath could do this from a distance, but it would require a degree of control that she won’t have for a long time.

Similarly, an Empath such as her could manipulate a person’s emotions with proper training, and impose her own emotions over top of what someone else would be feeling. This is, unfortunately, an extremely high level technique, and her ultimate goal in an attempt to ‘revive’ her Goddess.

Overlap Additions: Since her time in the school, Elita has gained a much stronger control of her powers. She no longer has to be touching someone in order to take on their pain, as long as she's within a reasonable distance of the fight happening, she can sap the injuries from her allies or enemies without putting herself at risk. This makes her a strong support option, making her capable of 'healing' quickly. Actual first-aid still needs to be done, but she often carries around a first-aid kit in her purse to make that easy to do.

The biggest change is that she's grown very adept at projecting her emotions, but not her will entirely. If she's feeling particularly angry, she can project that to her allies and give them a rush of energy, a buff to help them fight better. Or, in other circumstances, she can project that to the enemy, forcing the more rash part of the emotions onto them to hopefully cause them to slip up. It's not a foolproof method, someone adept in controlling their own emotions may not be affected to the same degree as someone who's more prone to outbursts, but it allows her to play a buffing and debuffing role in combat situations.

    Misc. Info

    • Her Birthday is August 16th.

    • She doesn’t take well to people attempting to lie to her. Those with a good control of their emotions can get away with it easily, but those who are more impulsive might have trouble with it, thanks to her Empathy. She won’t call them out on it generally, but she gets twitchy around compulsive liars.

    • She carries around a variety of headache and pain medications in her purse. When she doesn’t want to use her powers, she’ll often offer to share them, but she can be seen taking them to keep her own suffering to a minimum after using her powers.

    • She doesn't believe that other religions are a threat. She 'knows' Mari is forgotten now, and can't hope to overwhelm them in the near future. She believes it's a long term game, and she's just here to help it begin.

Teasing about her color changing with her moods, the fact that it can be so hard for her to hide her feelings from people as a result, and only the occasional compliment to her tail and a large amount of comments about how 'bulky' it looks... It wasn't good for a young girl's self esteem. While she doesn't exactly avoid people, she's prone to trying to lie about her emotions as best as she can, despite the fact that her body gives herself away.

Despite being relatively quiet, she still likes to be around people... Even with the teasing that happened as she was younger. There was just a sense of loneliness that she couldn't stand dealing with normally, so despite her fears of interacting with people... She's still pushing herself to try and get along with people as best as she can.

The best way to describe her is anxious. She's got a built-in ability to hide from things that might be causing her some stress at the time, but she doesn't want to be that way. Her biggest goal has been to try and get past her hangups. That's why she forces herself to try and interact with people. That's why she's embraced her quirk, rather than hating it for getting her teased. That's why she even applied to U.A. in the first place, despite doubting her own abilities to get in with her quirk. She wanted to be better than she is, stronger than she is.

    Biography:

    Spoiler

Life was simple. Two people who had no stakes in the Hero market met and had a child. Akari Hoshino had a Quirk that allowed her to alter the coloration of fabrics and lead a successful, if boring, Tailoring business. She didn't have any issues getting costumers, there were always people who wanted their outfits altered, especially in a way that was uncommon before. Even Heroes, people who Akari didn't have much in the way of admiration for, would occasionally pop in for advice on colors, fixing up old costumes for display, and other things along those lines. Despite her interactions with the heroes, they weren't... Special to her. They were just another customer, despite how society seemed to orbit around them.

Her father, Hisoki, on the other hand, had a Mutant Quirk that didn't really change his life all that much. The only distinguishing part of it were scales along his arms and legs, scales that were easily covered up by his clothing the majority of the time. He didn't seem any stronger, he didn't seem any more durable... There were just scales that shone bright in the sun when they were revealed, a useless Quirk. From a young age, he wanted them to do something, to give him a reason to have them. For him to find a way to join those Heroes and help people. But he couldn't. Nothing ever came out of the scales, and they became a mark of shame for him, something for him to put out of his mind...

And then they had a child. Rika was born bearing those same scales that her father had, a reminder of his own, but... She had more than that. A budding tail, and tiny horns. She clearly inherited and showed more of the traits than he did, even from birth. Despite his own disappointments, he didn't want to send his own daughter down that path from birth, and instead opted to swallow it down... And let her admire heroes freely like he used to do. If she ultimately wanted to go for the chance of being a hero, well, he would support that. He didn't expect her too, though. Over the next few years as she grew, she exhibited some... Minor Quirk features, her skin would change color, red when she was particularly hungry or fussy, a darker color to help retain heat... But nothing that might really make her material to be a hero.

Through her early years, she was exposed to those heroes, their antics and bravery, along with some rumors of less than heroic actions. With the teasing of her 'bulky' tail and the fact that she wasn't always able to control her color changing mechanism, well... It was leading her towards a path of being more subdued and quiet. She had quiet admiration for the heroes that seemed less 'presentable'. Those heroes that had features that weren't seen as pretty or useful... Those were the heroes she gravitated towards, heroes that gave her hope that she could get past her own hang ups.

It got easier as she got older. Once she started hitting her teenage years, she had built up enough of a thick skin to not get immediately flustered from teasing, and her color changing abilities weren't as satisfying to make fun of when they didn't respond to the teasing... But the lingering doubts about her own capabilities were still fresh in her mind. It didn't stop her from trying though. Her grades were good enough for her to go to most schools, especially since her parent's finances were decently in order to help support her... She decided to make the push for U.A.

She worked herself nearly ragged to get into a shape that was good enough to get her potentially into the school. Her Quirk wasn't the most suited for combat, but with some clever use of her tongue as a bludgeoning tool, she was able to passably train herself with that. Claws developed on her fingers and toes that, while not great for attacking with due to their short range, did make it easier for her to climb and scale surfaces that would give others more trouble...

She was in a position where, with what the test might be, she could hopefully hold her own. Even if it meant playing a little dirty by hiding around... And striking to take advantage of what others had done. Ultimately though, her prep hadn't been quite good enough. She was listed down as the next to last person to potentially be able to enter... One short of hitting what she had set out to do... But she wasn't too disappointed. She had been climbing what she had seen as an uphill battle, something that she didn't think she would achieve anyway. Maybe she wouldn't be able to attend the best school of the bunch... But this was the push she needed to see a potential future in this after all.

    Quirk:

    Chameleon

She can do all the things one would expect of a chameleon! More specifically, it allows her...

    - To alter the coloration of her body, hair, and more animalistic appendages. Ideally this would include clothes in the long run through specially made clothing.  She can do this both on purpose in intended color combinations, but also subconsciously to react to her mood at the time, the temperature of the area she's in to regulate her body heat... Or thanks to the fact that she's a human, for her own preferences in look.

-While she lacks the iconic 360 degree eye rotation of the chameleon thanks to her human anatomy, she does have much improved eye sight. Her eyes are a tiny bit more mobile than the average person's, giving her increased field of range, but not the full rotation of a chameleon. Her eyes are also able to move independently of one another, but because it's not something she's trained, it's not something she's used to doing. This isn't necessary though, if it's too much, it can be cut.

-Better climbing! She's able to climb up surfaces that others would have some issues with thanks to little claws on her fingers and toes. While they don't get in the way of most things, it does give her a tiny bit of trouble from time to time.

-The tail she sports is potentially strong enough to support her weight, or be used as a battering weapon in its own right, but she never really trained it to do that. If she put some time into it, it could give her something to grow into over the course the RP. It ties into her own self-esteem, her seeing her tail as something that isn't really useful, it just... Gets in the way sometimes.

-Finally, she has a few natural weapons in the form of those claws, some sharp teeth in her maw... And her tongue. True to Chameleon form, her tongue functions as a weapon of it's own, able to extend out to bludgeon people... Especially since the end of it is able to curl up into a tight, heavy ball that makes it particularly effective as a club.

    Misc:

    -Character Theme | Battle Theme

-She loves to paint. She doesn't see herself as very GOOD at painting, but it's something she enjoys and tries to make a habit out of. Her mother actually encouraged this a lot when she was younger, a combination of a Quirk to do with color... And the fact that she might be able to use that color theory someday was something she considered important.

-Her father, ignoring his own disappointment, went out of his way to arrange the chance for her to get to take the Entrance Exams for U.A. High School. He knew going in that there was a chance she would have to experience the same disappointment he did, but... He didn't want to take the opportunity away from her, despite feeling like it was a bad idea.

-She does have a slight issue with... Repeating herself. When she gets flustered, she often forgets what the last thing she said was, and might end up in a sort of loop if she doesn't take a moment to calm herself down.

-She views hero work... Oddly. While she does see the benefit of helping people, she cares much more about providing those with self-doubt an opening to realize they can achieve what they want. Helping people is just the byproduct of her real goal here, but not something she views as less important exactly.

  13. As for good games with bad soundtracks. Yoshi's Crafted World comes to mind. Like... I guess good might be pushing it, it definitely is NOT a game for everyone, babby games and all that, but I think it's a respectable Yoshi game...

Aside from the soundtrack. Like holy fuck it's SO bad. It has a few good songs, yeah, but like... They took motif way too far and almost every song is exactly the same, there's a few standout songs, but very few and it gets so annoying the longer you play.

Like, here's two examples in relatively short timespan of two of the worst songs in the game. literal penis music to my ears.

  14. Octavia
    »»————- ♡ ————-««

"So you wish to use them? Not the worst idea, but keep your eyes open, and make sure they don't use you," Lock commented.

Octavia let out a little laugh as she rubbed at her neck gently, her head glancing up at the ceiling for a moment. That really was what she was doing, wasn't it? It's not like that was anything too surprising, but... "I mean, that's what we do here in Hearthome, right? We get ahead and survive by any means necessary. If I want to make this a place where people don't have to struggle like that... I have to embrace it first."

She admittedly wasn't sure how Lock would react to her basically admitting she was only in it for the money. Helping people was fine and all, but... Hearthome had the people she cared about in it. Other cities, other innocent people, she might help them, but there was nothing personal in it. It was basically a job there.

"Oh those motherfuckers!" Raijin turned to Octavia, rage in his eyes. "Those bastards aren't gonna pay us a dime, are they!? Shit... So, how exactly are we finding this truth?"

"It's possible. But if that's what they want to do, I'll take them down myself." She tapped an arm against her duel disk briefly, a little mumble escaping her afterwords, "I've seen plenty of deals go bad because of someone wanting to cheap out on payment. I never had to handle it personally before, but... I know a thing or two about getting someone to pay up." Her voice was oddly cold as she said that, and she looked back up to Lock once he started to speak again.

"Always questioning what is being told to you, looking for the subtext, never taking what's given to you at face value."

It didn't seem that amazing to her, but if that's what it took for them to be considered passable here, good enough for her. As he flipped over the board to reveal the map, she scanned across it, looking for any particular points of interest... Which she found very quickly. The pair that had greeted them back at the store, the absolute jerk who had stolen her drink! "That ass!"

Her cheeks puffed out almost immediately, "We ran into that guy at a convenience store when we entered Hearthome, he snatched a drink from me and set people about to raid the store. I decided not to confront the guy there because, you know, Hearthome is a den of people like him, but he was someone behind the mess after all?! It was definitely him, that girl was there too!" She threw her hands up into the air, frustration written on her face as she vented about the lost soda. Even though she had no trouble getting a replacement, it was the principle of the matter.

"We seem to have company... Be on your guard."

She immediately turned towards the door as he looked at it, while the other side of it seemed to grow dark, the void practically eating the area around it. Without a delay, Octavia's arm shot out to the side, the Duel Disk activating as she brought it in front of her, ready and waiting for the door to open... Or for that growing darkness to have something appear from it, whichever came first.

"Hello, hello? Anyone in there? Well ready or not, heeeeere Iiiiii cooooome!"

Octavia didn't drop the duel disk, oh no. Just cause someone actually spoke up, that didn't change anything. She wasn't expecting the voice to sound so... Bubbly though, given what they were working with. She kept the disk held up towards the girl, taking a glance back at Lock as she kept speaking up. Her head tilted a tiny bit as the girl started to look at the board, Octavia shifting a bit to try and block too much vision of it, can't be too safe in a place like this after all. "...Is this someone you know?"

what is your favorite meme from 2010 or earlier?

i am not going to lie, the 2000-2010 decade was a lawless wasteland for memes

but god if i don't have a soft spot in my heart for this wonderful piece of shit

especially when i learned the background of the song being that the dude was criticized that the only reasons his songs got popular was the girls in the videos, so he just decided to make this with clones of himself using a green screen, which promptly became his most popular song. I just love it.

It also lead to this piece of art so I can't pick anything else.

Also the redux version of that.

What are your top 5 Pokemon new to the Galar Region?

    5. Obstagoon - I love Zigzagoon. It's always been my favorite Route 1 Normal-Type Pokemon, at least until Wooloo showed up, but it's still a favorite. Obstagoon is perfect to me, because I love the little punk rock look the line is sporting in Galar and Obstagoon being an evo for him just makes it better.

    4. Wooloo - it just cute

    3. Cramorant - Bird. Sometimes it eats a Pikachu. What's not to love? Honestly, it's just a cute idea, and I really like this one. I still can't get over that we had this guy leaked reaaally early into the game's lifespan too, it was in the first big leak for the game.

    2. Falinks - again, it cute. But fun to use too, I love the bois.

    1. Corviknight - Honestly, Corviknight is kinda just made for me. Obviously I love birds, but like, it's just so cool looking.

So, I'm assuming we're going with just, like, new Pokemon outright and not new forms, so this is what the Top 5 look like. If we include forms, Galarian Ponyta might push out Obstagoon by a tad, but it's really close.

Honorable mentions go to Frosmoth/Snom for sheer design, Dragapult for being cool, and Gigantimax Garbodar cause my boy actually got something.

    Why moth?

    Bug Fables!

Just a really fun RPG, filled the Paper Mario niche that Origami King doesn't quite scratch for me, the characters were fun and Mothiva was just a fun one that I enjoyed while the game was going on.

That and I just like moths. They're nice, good stuff.

But, aside from the fluff, I really like just how bizarre the Luna Moth looks. Just look at this thing.

Copy/pasting this so to cover all bases...

What's the five RP characters (from YCM or NCM) of yours you feel most attached to? And why; if not too much trouble?
If there's less than 5 you can think of just give the ones you can think of.

Yeah, this definitely won't be a top 5 type of deal, just a few of the particularly notable ones.

Villain School RP Character, back on YCM, Elita. She was of the two characters there that I was particularly proud of. It took a while for me to find my stride when it came to creating characters, they weren't my strong point, but I feel like that's changed over time. If a character doesn't click from the start in some way, I don't bother continuing to develop them, it's too important for me that there's a chemistry between the character and writing them for me. I end up doing little test dribbles with the characters that never see the light of day, just to see if I can write them in a way that satisfies me.

Elita was all about a 'dead' Goddess, in quotation marks because it was meant to be highly debatable on whether she existed or not, because most religions are like that in some way and especially the ones that didn't last. Mari, as a concept, didn't matter much. It was a driving force for Elita's pure, intense drive. She was single mindedly focused on reviving this ancient religion that had no modern basis at all, with herself as the Prophet of it and later the lead Priestess. She doesn't see herself as a villain, she saw herself as a beacon of light for those poor souls in that horrid school. She had to save them, by any means necessary.

That, to me, is one of the most enjoyable types of villains, the ones who have no qualms doing terrible things, but are so delusional, or so far deep into their own heads that they can't see anything but the 'benefits' of doing it. She had a very clear inspiration, Angie Yonaga from Danganronpa V3. V3 played Angie very... Comedically, but there was a serious dark undertone to her character that I wanted to explore with her concept, a villain so convinced she was doing good for others by leading them into a narrow path that would save their souls. A very real type of villain on its own, then you add in the superpower aspect of it, and it only made sense for her to be an Empath, particularly in the vein that she could feel other's pain and take it on herself. The perfect way for a false prophet to cause miracles to happen. My favorite part of her was... She didn't even want power, she was just so utterly convinced in her faith that she was very much willing to go to absurd lengths.

More recently, there's been Octavia and Kendra from the two Yugioh RP's I joined. Octavia is the rich kid who isn't rich anymore and Kendra is the kid who was never rich to begin with. They're pretty similar in personalities, in the sense that they're both subdued, quieter types, but for very different reasons.

With Octavia, it's a necessity of growing up in a violent, gang-filled city. She learned to keep her head down when she wasn't doing business in obtaining new cards, so she's very pragmatic about what she spends her time doing and saying. She's definitely be on the fast track in a law career, if things hadn't gone south in Hearthome. I like her character because while I played up how nothing about her particularly stood out, she was just a 'normal' girl who could make a deal over trading cards. Since the RP is kind of in limbo with COVID and all, she hasn't had a chance to grow, but if the RP goes down after all, I'll find a good way to work her into something else I do.

Kendra on the other hand, is the self-defeating girl who never quite found what she excels at, something I know waaay too well. It's one thing to do 'well enough' at something and be reasonably passable at it, and then to find something that you're passionate about and actually good at too. With Kendra, while she has that passion for the card game, and the skill to back it up, her financial situation when she was younger kept her from exploring it fully and it was only when she got a lucky scholarship after a performance in a local scene from a university wanting to expand that she actually got the chance to explore it. And because of that, she feels the need to push herself in private, trying to keep up her studies beyond just 'passing' which she arguably doesn't manage to do, while still keeping her dueling skills sharp.

Ironically, both of these are Xyz users. I guess because it's a flexible mechanic that's not too hard to write with, I kinda gravitate towards it, it allows some creativity with it in the duels. I haven't gotten to write a full duel with either of them yet, Octavia using Box of Friends and Kendra using Batterymen, but I got a small bit with Kendra done and I like the deck, so I'm excited to develop her a lot too.

Honorable mention goes to Sieg, the Barbarian I was making for Grimm Nights, but didn't get past the conceptual stage. I wanted to make her a loud, boisterous type, something I really do not do a lot. But when I tried to come up with a background I liked, a story I was happy with, and her personality beyond that, I just hit... A wall. Which is funny, because her role was going to be tanking basically. I wanted her to be carrying around a giant Tower Shield, her main form of combat would be parrying blows, protecting those around her, and basically bashing people down with the shield while trying to use it to support her allies as well. Very hands on, physical and all. But like I said, I just hit a wall with her, and while I liked the weapon concept, background just threw me into a loop of writing, erasing and thinking again.
