  1. From the looks of things Digimon's taking the lead.

    If it does - I wonder if the wee bit of background of Digimon being spiritual beings before officially becoming "Digital Monsters" is something the cast should influence or aid in the transition of, or if the transition has already/is in the constant state of happening, and the cast ends up getting curious about the link between mysterious avatar lifeforms on the internet and ancient artifacts and doodles portraying worshipped beings.

    The former would make things a bit less "Digital", since they're not Digital Monsters yet, while the latter would be a decent mix of "Digital" and spiritual stuff.


  2. There are beings out there who have persisted since the dawn of time. These beings are referred to by many times - spirits, gods, skin-walkers, and probably one too many names to count.

    They are special - in that at some point, they have started to be influenced by us, humanity. They take shapes and forms, and even constantly evolve and degenerate based on such forms. We worshipped them, they relied on our will and emotion to exist.

    In this new era where humanity is slowly but surely halting its belief in gods and spirits, these beings have adapted to become extensions of humanity’s new worship - the internet. In this transition, they have become beings that have become equal parts spirit, equal parts digital. This has allowed them to use technology as a conduit to gain access to our world, giving them the new name of Digital Monsters, or Digimon, and the realms they come from being a type of Digital World.

    Meanwhile, on the other side, the three Digital Worlds - Norn, Illiad and Witchelny, are waging battle on each other. Something has caused their greatest champions, including their greatest warriors - the Royal Knights, the Olympos XII and the Vortex Warriors - to fight each other, believing that the crisis afoot had been caused by each other. Their constant crossing into each others' dimensions has caused the rift between realms to be that little bit more unstable. This has made the barrier between their worlds and ours that had previously been maintained for eons to have cracks, making it all the easier for the little Digimon to seep through.

    How does your character go about obtaining these Digimon?

    These are Rookie-level Digimon who find themselves in our world and find themselves in need of human emotion to fight off threats. Some of these Digimon are very lost in our world, and others seem to be down with a case of rabies. Digi-rabies. Probably.

    Digimon advance from Rookie, to Champion, to Ultimate, to Mega, and in rare cases Ultra. But you already knew that.

    Due to being away from human influence for so long, the process of Digivolution, as normalized, is a long cycle equated to growth. Human influenced Digivolution is an accelerated process compared to that, so things associated with growth might be harder to cope with such as personality changes which can manifest as a partner running wild or 'following their natural instinct'. As the natural gap of time between later stages is more apparent in nature (or the Digital World rather), such issues are more present in Ultimates or Megas and may be negligible as Champions beyond some berserking or hyperactiveness. As Ultras are as formed via miracles or anti-miracles as opposed to something like natural growth, the evolution to Ultra does not have these effects.

    Much like game continuities and unlike anime continuities, Digimon can stay in their forms without Digivolving if need be. Of course, a brutal attack to them or a powerful that drains their energy a bit much might force them to degenerate to a prior stage, or even to multiple prior stages, or die and revert to an egg.

    Digital Worlds

    Digital Worlds

    There are three realms that can be referred to as the 'Digital World', and a fourth realm that coexists with them. Unlike with most continuities, there is no time dilation - time flows at a relatively similar rate between realms.

    Norn

    Its inhabitants constantly call it the Digital World, and it is only called that by inhabitants of the other Digital Worlds. It is the Digital World protected by the Royal Knights. Said to be the Digital World with the richest history.

    Iliad

    A Digital World with a Greco-Roman motif. It is a Digital World protected by the Olympos XII.

    Witchelny

    A Digital World remniscent of a medieval era of castles, dungeons and magic. Said to be the origin of magic in all Digital Worlds. Its stand-in leaders are the Vortex Warriors.

    Cocytus

    Every Digital World has a creepy 'Dark Area'. Explore that Dark Area deep enough and you will get here. It is a realm considered deep and evil. Fittingly, it is a domain ruled by the Seven Great Demon Lords.

    In this Roleplay, Digivices come in three different varieties based on a Digimon Partner’s home realm. Norn Digivices are rectangular. Iliad Digivices look like the fronts of Greek Temples. Witchelny Digivices resemble little books. The Cocytus Digivices are creepy and spherical, almost organic even, and resemble eyes with foldable lids, said eye whites and irises easily replaced by a screen.

    Digivices have various features, one of these being the ability to traverse throughout the Digital World as long as it has been visited before, and back to the human world of course. However, a Digivice can only transport individuals to areas within its realm of origin.

    1. The usual stuff - no godmodding, powerplaying or whatnot

    2. All forum rules apply.

    3. What I say goes, especially if it's a thing that has gotten too hectic.

    4. Posting on a regular basis would be most appreciated. If you have a reason to be unable to post, do tell.

    5. Currently, I am allowing two characters per roleplayer.

    6. A character is usually allowed one Digimon partner, and I might allow said character to get a second down the line. A character is permitted to start with two if the fate of those Digimon are to Jogress at some point, or if you have special plans.

    7. Digimon lines can either be "official"/"straightforward"/"template" or they can do any way they want on the big web of evolution based on what Wikimon provides. Heck, I'll give you the OK if some things don't link as long as I feel it kinda works, so don't try to blow your brains out too hard.

    8. There is one exception to Rule 7 - and that is if you are intending to have Ancient Spirit/Hybrid-level Digimon as your partner. I.e. Strabimon and Flamon have to use their 'default' lines and uh... no other Ancient Spirit Digimon are allowed aside from those two lines. If the Spirits are found within the Roleplay, they can be used temporarily however, by people or by Digimon. There might be a thing where gathering them is important, so yeah sure you can use them if you can find 'em.

    9. Having Royal Knights, Olympos XII & Vortex Warriors as your partner is fine. No Sovereigns though. Also I'll check Demon Lord partners with scrutiny since they're supposed to be limited and/or having a Cocytus Digivice is meant to be a big deal.

  3. As someone who's been wanting to indie game dev myself (my current phase has not even touched 'screw around with RPGMaker' and is still in 'story & characters'), this does motivate me a bit.

     

    Experimenting with plugins, foolin' with mechanics...

     

    ... well, I've only really skimmed this topic, but I intend to read it thoroughly for reference, and follow it from here on.


  4. "I can't believe those grubby hands are finally over..."

    Sophia stands as the many-armed maniac yields, slowly crawling away. That was when she heard those screams, piercing through the air like daggers, accompanied by a strong energy signature.

    "What was that?"

    Sophia began to run to its source, noticing other spirits fleeing while ignoring her.

    "I doubt this is normal."

    Sophia's thoughts were about to shift as soon as she gazed upon the many-bodied, many-faced hellish creature.

    "Scratch that, this isn't normal, period!" turning to Leo, she said, "Oi, Cracker Jack, you retreat! Anything could crush you in this pathetic state!"

    Sophia would lend her two cents into this discussion.

    "For starters, we can't risk that big bozo striking us, period. If we can't defend, we'll just have to evade or..."

    Sophia snaps her fingers as various replicas of everyone were created from thin air.

    "... make sure that whatever he's hitting, it's probably not the real us!"


  5. "It's always the sister who gets neglected, doesn't it?" Hel pouts at Sigurd addressing her siblings but not her, "I thought I'd be the more popular one."

    "You speak like you are the only one who prepared for this, Sigurd," Fenrir comments, "we all are. No matter how strong predator is, prey will not be underestimated."

    "You can try, Thor," Jormungandr scowls, "you can try and fail. You would sooner fall to my venom than I will fall to your hammer."

    "Now, now, just because we are forces of chaos, doesn't mean we should disrupt the order of this tournament," Hel interrupts, "Thor, I would say that I wasn't expecting you here, but this is what it is."

    "I have inherited the name Hrodvitnir. I represent the trinity," Hrodvitnir introduced, "I will be the final victory this event sees."

    "She really does take after my siblings. Not a lot of sportsmanship," Hel shrugs her shoulder as she indulges in the festivities, "what can I say? They're not the biggest 'big event' guys. Neither am I, actually, but I indulge in moderation."

    Hrodvitnir was pleased to whiff the various smells wafting in the air. A variety of prey to hunt - perfect. She was tempted to wolf them down soon, but she was advised to wait for the right time to strike.

    "Hrodvitnir," Fenrir prowled towards his star pupil, "claim victory in our name, and you will become other new sister."

    "Ssssuch victory will be a piecccccce of cake," Jormungandr loomed over the two, slithering about, "without the bindssss of Ragnarok holding usss thanksss to the particcccipation of ssstudents, beasssst is sure to outdo god..."

    "Then it won't be a piece of cake, brother," the petite Hel popped out from Hrodvitnir's shadow, looking up to her serpentine brother, "our would-be sister is not the only beast among these men."

    "If there are other beasts there, I will show them that I am their rightful ruler," Hrodvitnir assures her mentors, "you will not need to fret. I will embody all your aspects in battle. The Apex Predator - he who dominates the circle of life. The Devourer - he who leaves none in his path. Death Itself - she who pursues and captures all life with no fail."

    "Alone, there is weakness to be exploited," Fenrir adds, "weaknesses that gods and men will take advantage of to claim dominance."

    "But together," Jormungandr cackles.

    "They will be the elements of an indestructable lifeform!" Hel laughs.

    The four walked up to the group.

    "Hello Zeus," Fenrir speaks to the leader of the Olympians, "have you met my siblings and I's pupil?"

    "Sssshe issss very promisssing..." Jormungandr adds.

    "We would know," Hel skips around, "because we were the ones who taught her everything! Teeheehee~."

    Jormungandr hisses towards Sigurd, lunging towards him before stopping as they made eye contact.

    "The fool Thor managed to get you assss a champion?" He snarled, "I wasss hoping that your master would be accompanying you today. But today, you are lucky that thissss issss not my fight."

    After an aggressive hiss, he returned to his group.


  7. Those strange feelings, those strange images.

    They were the things keeping Sophia's mind occupied.

    What was that? Was it the end of the world.

    Yes, yes it was.

    The end of the world of slumber, that is.

    Beep beep beep beep

    "Who awakens me from my beauty sleep?"

    Sophia Manchester looks around and about as she rises from her bed, only to realize that it was her phone's alarm. It had rung at least five times in the past hour.

    "Oh, it's just you. Again. Please learn some manners."

    She gradually drifts back to the realm of dreams before realising something.

    "HOLY CRAP! I'M LATE!"

    She rises from her bed, shaking her hair as it almost magically fixes itself straight. Waving her hands, her clothes immediately transform from an evening gown to proper business wear fit for an interview, complete with heels. She slots some bread in a toaster as it pops out, spreading some jam on it and slotting it into her mouth.

    One might wonder if her ability to run on heels was her true power.

    She struts into the building filled with many people, high-end perfume combined with a confident aura emanating from her body. She stood out - whether like a sore thumb or like a shining diamond in the rocks was a debate.

    "Me? Being lead by some plebeian? Ohohohohoho! What can you even do?" Sophia questions the high-ranker, but all this was soon interrupted by a giant serpentine beast interrupting the meeting, before being promptly exterminated.

    "That was luck!"

    She ascended the stairs, following behind Aki.

    "Looks like where we're going, we'll need- huh?!"

    A fiend of some sort, the size of a man, creeped about. Its wiggly, ever-increasing arsenal of stretchy arms felt about, and they were ready to feel Sophia herself!

    "Eek! A molester! Get him away from me!"

    Using her abilities, she seemed to create some kind of translucent barrier around her. The creature's sense of touch probed at it, as if it was a physical construct. She then formed spikes around this barrier, causing the being to flinch backwards in pain, even though no holes were punctured during this process.

    Personality:
    Sophia is a confident woman who uses her charms to her advantage. She’s always up for being the first person to speak up and the last person to finish, insistent that all the spotlight be laid on her. Still, being one who aims to be the centre of attention, she does treat others with respect and kindness - as much as her less arrogant side can muster. She does wish to treat others well, but her pride tends to get in the way.

    Biography:
    Sophia is from a rich family. The Manchesters were highly influential people back where she came from, and many a time joined in on politics. Life was rich for the Manchesters. One day, Sophia discovered her powers and began to flaunt them, using illusions to let others see rocks as valuables, the ugly as the beautiful. Others had powers where she was too, and she quickly formed a rivalry with them due to her pride and pettiness.

    She decided to move to Megalopolis due to how there was such tight competition as to who was the best of the best. She decided to let them be the greatest where she lived, while she decided to be the greatest in the world.

    ESPer Ability
    Five Senses Illusion
    Also known as 5SI, this ability is exactly as the label says - it creates illusions that respond to all five senses - sight, smell, hearing, taste and even touch. This means that the illusions will appear as real as possible, and the fact that they affect touch means that they can indeed affect pain receceptors. She can use this to mask appearances of herself and others, and make things appear as other things. Being able to control smell and hearing through illusion means she can make those appear from other areas, or even mask them.

  9. Premise

    So, you see, in this world, many concepts coexist - magic, mutants, supernatural beings, wacky inventions and so much more. It's no surprise that in this world where there are many ways to acquire power, some would use them for good and others would use them for evil. That's how superheroes and supervillains naturally pop up in this world - power, altruism and corruption.

    Today, a series of events will lead to the unity of some of these superheroes - some famous, some fresh, all protecting different cities and towns. They would go on to form a team that unites under the most dire of circumstances - or not-so-dire.

    What are these series of events, you might ask? Well uh... go read the news or something, or get there before the news does by luck or by chance, because it might already be too late the moment the public catches up on what's hidden.

    Whatever awaits you won't be a single threat. After this fiasco, expect many more to come.

    NOTES: This roleplay will have inspirations from Tokusatsu, Magical Girl series, Western comics & certain anime series parodying or drawing inspiration from superheroics.

    Appearance:
    Hrodvitnir is a mere 145cm tall and has a thin, lean, flat figure with not a lot of meat to boast of. She has markings all over her body to boot.

    Biography:
    This lady was born a young girl named Miranda in the great greens of Iceland. Her childhood was beautiful, until it wasn't.

    Miranda lost her parents at a young age, but she was raised by wolves. From a young child, they turned her into a hunter and fighter. These were not ordinary wolves, however, but subjects and worshippers of their bound god, Fenrir. They worshipped Fenrir and his siblings, Jormungandr and Hel, as the great trinity that will be deemed the true heroes of Ragnarok.

    Some day, Fenrir descended, evidently having broken free from his prison. He and his siblings, Jormungandr and Hel, also released, wished to meet this human who had been raised by his followers of chaos. He found intrigue that one who had been born from humans, agents of order, could be easily integrated into the dominions of chaos, and he wanted to see how far she could be pushed.

    He gave her various trials, and as a reward for these trials, he and his siblings granted her power.

    Personality:
    Having been raised without the influence of humanity, Hrodvitnir is a feral hunter by nature. She is not street smart, but she has enough quick learning and adaptability to graduate from the 'I can't read or count' category.

    This wild child isn't the stereotypical dumb one, oh no. As a predator hunting her prey, smarts are a necessity, and something she's grown to have. She's grown to become patient and wary of her surroundings, keeping an eye on everything while possessing the ability to tolerate the long amount of time. For first impressions, she doesn't see people as friends, only predator and prey, and for the record, believing that she is a wolf means that she doesn't believe it's cannibalism.

    Power/Arsenal:
    Hrodvitnir possesses a great range of abilities.

    Vast Strength - Inheriting the power of Fenrir and Jormungandr, she would naturally inherent their vast strength and durabilty.

    Enhanced Senses - All five senses are greatly enhanced, allowing her to sense things easily, like an animal.

    Child of Fenrir - Hrodvitnir will deal many times more damage to any sun or moon-based deities or beings, thanks to channeling the attributes and fates of Fenrir's children, Skoll and Hati. Figures representing aspects of this such as droughts, harvest and tides will be affected, to a lesser extent.

    The Fetters - Hrodvitnir will chain herself with the fetters of Fenrir, which can be used in battle like chainwhips. When one is broken, another stronger version will arise.

    Lycoan Breath - Able to spew flames and ice from her mouth.

    Ouroboros Destiny - channeling the power of Jormungandr and the aspects of Hel, Hrodvitnir can revive herself from death.

    Ouroboros Wheel - channeling the power of Jormungandr, she can launch strange wheel-like projectiles that when striking their target, will trap their mind in a loop that can only be broken out of through sheer willpower.

    Unliftable - When she is physically lifted, she can channel the power of Jormungandr to make herself unliftable. However, she will essentially turn herself into an indestructable, unmoving statue.

    Undeath Claws - channeling the power of Hel, she can unleash a power that quickly rots anything she slashes at. Divine empowerment weakens this, and healing capabilities can counter this. The more rot one has, the more one can be considered undead. The power of Hel prevents her from being affected by similar abilities.

    Poison Claws - channeling the power of Jormungandr, she can unleash a power that sends paralyzing poison through one's body. Divine empowerment weakens this, and healing capabilities can counter this. The more poison one has, the more one will be less likely to move. The power of Jormungandr prevents her from being affected by similar abilities.

  11. Well, during my ventures ever since leaving the original YCM, I've seen plenty of forums using all kinds of different forum engines. The most prominent kind - XenForo.

    But I can't deny that XenForo is easily dwarfed by this New Invision stuff that this site uses! I say more forums should use the new Invision-powered engine!

    Well, most forums I've seen, most prominently RP forums, only really use the things I've listed. If you know of any others, do say.

    Also I'll check that new WIXOSS series. In it for the character designs by Shigure Ui and the fact that it feels different from standard WIXOSS fare. That, by all means, is a good thing.

    Personality:

    Hikaru is a kind, gentle soul who is often nervous around others, especially women. he secretly likes cute things, be it girls, toys or a mix of both. He puts on a tough persona for duels, taking them seriously. Outside of that, he is very introverted and has communication difficulties.

    History:

    Hikaru is a Duel Monsters player, through and through. The meta shifts like tectonic plates, but Hikaru plays his favourites. And by favourites I mean girls he finds cute, maining a full-fledged Charmer deck to the point of competing pretty well as well as running Traptrix, the Yo-Kai Girl series, and only recently using the Maid Dragon archetype. If Cardfight Vanguard was real in this world, even an idiot would realise that he'd run Bermuda Triangle, unless they didn't know what Vanguard was. And why would you?

    He started getting into it when he opened his first pack containing the card he would consider his signature - Eria the Water Charmer. Finding her cute, he decided to collect the entire archetype. One thing lead to another and he was starting to form decks - decks that would pop in and out of the meta, decks that never really hit there, but all in all, he was a full-fledged player.

    One day, he was transported to the world of Duel Monsters...
