"You must be Kyouko then! My name is Hoshiko. Don't worry if you forget my name - I won't forget yours~!"

This girl was sickeningly peppy. Kyouko - without taking the hand - got back up to her feet, brushing herself off as she glanced around at the other members of this bumbling little club she'd stumbled her way into. Among them were the hat guy Kyouko had happened upon before, the boy who recruited her, this peppy girl, and the other blue-haired girl. Looking at her again, she was quite a bit shorter than Kyouko. Maybe trying to pass herself off as Kyouko wouldn't have worked after all.

"As Souji said, we're definitely accepting, but I have to add, do you have a persona?"

A what? Like those guys with the red suits, the goofy masks, and the wings?

"I play the role of a mystical magician, Souji is a superhero, and Hoshiko is an idol. If you don't have one, we can definitely help both you and Kyouko out, I'll just need-... Okay, sorry to bail, but it seems my notebook is missing, and that thing is full of basically... everything. I'll hopefully be back before the meeting ends."

Oh. Like that. It seemed that the magician had lost his notebook though. He left, and Ms. Peppy Idol took to bombaring Kyouko's not-quite-double with advice and questions about setting up a persona of her own. Although the questions weren't directed at her, they did prompt Kyouko to give her own deck a more thorough look. However, it wasn't long before the boy came back. With another girl in tow, even! Some tiny girl Kyouko was pretty sure she recognized from somewhere, but the exact place she couldn't quite put a finger on. As Kyouko started looking around in her deck again - having to stop each time she passed the Thestalos she'd been given just earlier because it was weird that it was just sort of there - she tried thinking of persona ideas.

    ...

    ...

Isn't she that girl that's really popular for some reason?

The statue was certainly something. The tentacles at the bottom even more so. The more she looked at them, the more fascinating they seemed. She just couldn't find it in her to look away anymore. Kanon wasn't sure what was so impressive about them, but they certainly had her attention. Then that clerk lady went to touch it, and suddenly everything seemed a lot less appealing. Kanon's head was filled with the image of some tentacle face monster thing. What was it? She'd never seen something  like that before, but luckily, the vision didn't last long before the clerk's Chinchou snapped everyone out of it.

Right now, there were other problems to see to. Like all those Skrelp. They didn't look happy. Was the statue important to them for some reason? Whatever it was, it was looking like they'd have to fight... but Kanon couldn't issue orders to Bubbles underwater. She wasn't a mermaid, and the thought of being one didn't sound all that great either. Bubbles looked at her, as if anticipating its orders. Kanon pointed to one of the Skrelps off on the side, clenched her hands into fists, and ran one into the other.

It seemed to take a moment for the Poliwag to get what Kanon was trying to convey. But once Bubbles figured it out, the creature turned, darting through the water toward the target Skrelp, ready to tackle it.

Favorite Servant class and that class' Servant from the Fate/Stay series?

I don't really have any feelings that lean toward one class or another, but Assassin is pretty neat I guess. Favorite servant from that class - as well as a roughly-tied contender for favorite servant overall - is Jack the Ripper.

Well, that was certainly a chain of events. Kokoro had to admit, even she was a bit overwhelmed by how fast it had all happened. There was the fire, and Connor going right for the armor despite it then coming out completely unscathed. Then they left and the ceiling fell in and the laser beam and so much was happening at once that she would have to sit down and process it all later. Right now what mattered was there were those laser beams that had evaporated the tall black-clad guy that was threatening them. She totally could have taken him though, if she had to.

There was also that mechanical roar. And the big mechanical dragon that said mechanical roar came from. That was also a pretty significant part of the current events. That seemed less like something Kokoro could take on. Not that she'd let the others know that. And then...

    Opening Theme

Mr. Henderson gritted his teeth as he stared down the Machinedramon. The monster was purely mechanical, standing over 15 feet tall. Its general shape was that of a T-Rex, if a T-Rex had massive arms with giant claws on them and two giant cannons on its shoulder, which where still smoking from the barrels.

There was no way they could take this thing on.

Ludomon jumped onto Mr. Henderson's arm, turning into his shield form. A small comfort, but he doubted that the rookie could block even one direct hit from those cannons. "Everyone!" He yelled at the top of his lungs. "Run into the auditorium!" He shouted. "We need to get as much distance between us and this monster as we can!" He looked back at the Machinedramon. It had just fired shots from its Infinity Cannons, meaning they had a good twenty seconds before it could do start to do anything else. "Go, NOW!!!"

"And leave you for dead!? Sorry, but I'm not going anywhere just yet."

    "Are you crazy!?" Hackmon exclaimed.

Rather than back as instructed, Kokoro stepped forward. "OI!" she called out to the metal monster. "What's the big idea blowing a hole in our school like that!? The easy exit is nice and all, but someone could get vaporized, like... like that guy you vaporized! What's so important in here you're willing to blow it up just to find it, huh!?"

"She's going to get herself killed," Hackmon stated, a mixture of pure horror and existential disbelief at this girl's raw reckless audacity in his voice. "We should get going, unless the rest of you want to end up like her."

It seemed that after breakfast, there were other things to do. She'd heard talk about D-Wheels besides her own idle question which nobody had actually answered - probably focused on eating something - so perhaps there would be a race? Zirco also mentioned something about the gym, though the exact details escaped her. And Barbatos had to go out for some grocery shopping. Of the three, a food run seemed the most appealing to Natsumi. She'd been in an underground facility for all these years, and it would be nice to get some fresh air after all that time. It would also be a good chance to learn more about any other Signers that opted to join him. Hurrying up with the last of her breakfast, and reluctantly leaving it there like Barbatos had said to, Natsumi stood up and made for the door.

"I'll join you for the grocery shopping."

The thug was not pleased. Hibiki could hear something - it almost sounded like an explosion - and when she peeked around the corner to see what was up with her eyes instead of her ears, even she could make out what was happening perfectly well. There was some sort of force wall... thing... and Herc was fighting it! It was impressive that he could hold his own like that! But he seemed to be struggling with it. He'd asked Itsuki for backup, but Itsuki... was he thinking really hard about something? He must have not heard Herc or something like that. And Yuuka was lobbing poison at the guy.

That left one person. She was small, and not very strong, but she'd have to help. It wasn't like she'd be able to do much else about that dome anyway, let alone the guy in it while this thing was up. And so, Hibiki ran back into the fray, behind Herc, and started pushing. She didn't want to touch the dome directly. Who knew what that thing could do to her hands?

"Oh? Am I ticking? That's unusual everything should be running smoothly. One moment. Scanning. Nothing is wrong. Perhaps your ears are not working correctly. I could scan you to check your health if you wish."

"AHHHHH, NO THANKS I'M FINE!" That came out a bit louder than Sammi intended. Quite a bit. "Nothing wrong here," she continued, at a more regular volume. "The ticking thing is a figure of speech. The way you work, what parts do what, that sort of thing. I'm curious about what sort of technology makes you operate." That was a close one. Was this the kind of situations squishies described as causing their hair to stand on end? That they-almost-caught-me feeling. While she felt more comfortable letting BOMB know just what she was than these humans and other organics, she had a feeling he'd be a bit too tactless about it if he found out in a public setting.

"I'm uh here... to help keep Kellz here out of trouble."

"Oh please it's not like I look for trouble it just happens to find me. Plus I bet I got you outta trouble plenty of times."

That sounds like the kind of thing troublemakers say. But why is Kellz here?

"Well for me it's like. You gotta do something right? And this seems like something I can do. And do well. So why not go for it right? Pretty damn cool job don't you think?

There were definitely worse jobs out there. Like contractors! All the hard work put in to build a nice place to live for someone you'll probably never meet, and they never even stop to consider the labor you and your friends put in to get the place together. Or whoever was responsible for keeping sewers running properly. But Vivian wasn't sure if she'd call mech pilot her dream job.

"So we gonna stand around in the middle of these dancers or we gonna move? Unless one of you wants to dance that is."

"I'm good with moving," Vivian answered, leading the way out from the middle of the dance floor. "Mech pilot is certainly an impressive job to have! I'm here for something kind of like that myself. I kind of have to, since it's for a military thing where I'm from; ten years compulsory service between ages eighteen and forty. I wanted to get my years done as soon as possible so that I don't have to worry about them later, and training counts toward them, so I guess you could say I'm here to try and take the easy way out for a few years?" Come to think of it, Kellz would probably be able to find plenty of work back home, if she wanted to be a mech pilot.

"Well fine then. Don't you worry about it. You can make it up to me by coming to see our good buddy Heatran with me."

Looks like I can't stop her after all. Not with words anyway. And certainly not by fighting; Nani would be terribly outmatched against Allie in a fight. And so, the Mimikyu followed closely behind, eyes glued to the volcano. Eye on the prize, as it were. Allie absolutely couldn't get up there before Randy and the others were done fighting Heatran and got back down. And while Nani couldn't stop Allie, surely that didn't mean she couldn't slow her down a bit. Nani's hands crackled with electricity, before she suddenly swung them upwards, releasing a wave of thunder to try and do precisely that, before running around the Tyranitar's side and making a full-speed beeline for the volcano.

"Sorry, but I really can't let you go up there right now," Nani called back, not bothering to stop and see if she'd actually slowed her down. If she did, and Allie hadn't been slowed down after all, it would have probably been a pretty bad time for Nani. Instead, she hurried toward the volcano. Allie was coming, and the others needed to be warned about that. Maybe it can convince Heatran to wait a bit too, at least until she's left. Now that I get WHY he's fighting and all.

    Day 8, ?:00, Movie Theater
    Points: 61

    W/L Record: 3/3

Was it really okay for Morgan to use her position as an arena fighter to pressure people into giving her front-row seats at the movies? At the very least, it wasn't something you'd call someone else to crack down on, but it felt... a bit wrong. But on the other hand, front-row seats! And it wasn't like she could just undo that or anything either. Best to just roll with it. Luckily, there were open seats scattered enough around here. She could definitely get through the whole thing no problem.

"I'll probably be moving around the theater a lot," Aurora warned as she took a seat. "It's a problem with my power that keeps me from sitting in one place too long."

And as she'd warned, Aurora moved around the theater to different empty seats quite a bit during the movie. She took care to wait for the moments of down-time between action scenes though, and made extra-sure that she was back with Morgan and Ross for the climactic final battle between Jax and the president's twin. It was a fun experience. The movie was good, and Aurora got to meet a few different people while watching it. Some of whom recognized her from her Arena fights, even! She had to admit, the recognition brought a warm fuzzy feeling to her. That was the kind of thing she was looking forward to with being a hero, along with the actual hero stuff, so getting it here too felt nice.

"Well, that wasn't bad, I guess."

"It was great!" Aurora cheered. She wasn't even sure which scene to start with. The start of the movie really threw down a good first impression, and it just got better and better from there! "The car chase scene was cool, right?" The one where Jax had to chase down an armed monster truck with his own car, weaving and bobbing through traffic crushed under the monster truck's wheels. Aurora was always pretty partial toward car scenes though. "And the fight at the end, wow! And um, thanks for paying for the tickets. I'm a bit short on points right now." But she'd be fixing that soon enough!

"What else should we do? Some shopping maybe? I haven't really had a girls day out before, so I don't know what to do with them besides what you see on TV."

"You're gonna be Dead if you're not careful."

"I knew that," Pyrrha retorted. "...but thanks for the save." The bee situation... seemed to be handled? Unless there was an invisible one somewhere, that seemed to be about it.

"Well, that was fun. What's next, giant beetles? Maybe a killer mantis?"

Killer mantis could be fun. Or at least, more fun than giant beetles. I wonder if we could tame giant beetles and ride them? Pyrrha got up to her feet, brushing the dirt off her trusty brown cloak, and made for the bee she'd shot at just moments ago. Two arrows in this one's abdomen, and then one in the wings of that bee over in the back. Maybe she should have fired more arrows in hindsight. That time in the tower must have softened her up a wee bit or something. Pyrrha pulled the two arrows from the closer bee, but off in the distance, she could hear... buzzing. And plenty of it.

    "More coming."

She'd have to check how many of these arrows were still usable later. With a more urgent pace, Pyrrha made for the bee in the back, yanking the arrow out of its wing and gripping the axe she'd thrown at its head. "We probably shouldn't stick around to fight them," Pyrrha suggested, tugging at the axe and pressing against the dead bee's head. She'd really gotten this thing lodged in there. With a final forceful yank, she pulled the axe out of the bee's head and nearly fell over onto the road behind her. The blade was all covered in bee guts in the top and middle parts. Yuck. "Unless sitting around killing bees is some sort of Chosen rite of passage?" Taking care not to dart off or anything in case the group did decide to stick around, Pyrrha started further down the road at a brisk enough pace. She'd definitely be able to keep pace with the others if leaving was the course of action though. As she walked, a thought crossed her mind. It probably wouldn't stop bugging her for a bit...

Was there some sort of rite of passage she'd have to do?

Deeper she went. Deeper and deeper into the water, following behind the helpful but very reckless guide. There were fish, and the land beneath the water. Kanon always knew land worked like that, being too heavy to float  and all, but seeing it up close was a different thing entirely. But there was something else here. Something distinctly man-made. Or pokemon-made perhaps? Whatever it was, it was some sort of statue, that seemed to have the same general look as the one Kanon had tried to climb in the marsh just the other day. She'd nearly opened her mouth to comment on it, but a mouthful of saltwater sounded... bad. At best.

So instead, Kanon turned toward Oswald and pointed at the statue, gesturing to follow her as she swam closer to it. Whatever this statue was doing down here of all places, Kanon wanted to get to the bottom of it.

Optimal summoning time is two o'clock. Misaki looked at the clock. It was time. She'd already drawn her own summoning circle, just the way she'd been taught back home. The room was left with plenty of open space. In fact, the only things she hadn't taken out of it were a desk in the corner, where she'd spent most of her day after being brought to her new - temporary - home, and a notebook sitting on top of it, where she'd been writing down notes on some new magical research she'd been told to look into during her time here. But the research could wait. If she didn't summon her servant, there would be problems in the longer term unless she could figure out a way to quietly dispose of the other masters herself. That certainly wouldn't be happening in this lifetime.

With the time now upon her, and the room ready to go, Misaki double-checked that everything was ready to go. Circle was drawn, lights were off, a human skull had been left in the middle of the circle (provided by her dear relatives of course), and all that was left was a blood offering. Misaki was told her blood would be best, but also that it didn't have to be especially fresh. That was why she'd sliced her hand open earlier that day, put the blood in a bottle, then bandaged up her hand. All that was left was to pour it into the circle. Which she did, directly onto the skull, as she'd been instructed to before leaving home. She then recited the speeech - also instructed to her - that she'd been forced to become familiar with.

"Sevant beyond space and time, answer my summons and come to my aid. My blood is your blood, my will is your command, and my enemy is your enemy. Come forward, great hero, and snuff out our foes."

  14. 6kzOarD.png

"Well, I'll be going now. Here's hoping I never see you again."

"Ah, wait, before you go." Raven fished into the pockets of his coat, and pulled out what looked like a special little box that could only hold a few cards. From it, he pulled out one card in particular, and held it out to Kyouko. "For your future duels, here's a prize in honor of your victory. May it serve you well."

Kyouko took the card and looked it over. Thestalos the Mega Monarch. Part of Kyouko felt like it was didn't really mesh with her deck, by which she meant most of her. But it was free stuff she'd apparently earned. And hopefully it would get him to leave her alone. "...sure." Maybe Jun could help her figure out what to do with this thing. But for now, she had places to be. Kyouko pulled out her phone, looked at the time, and...

Good morning everyone. This is Kazuraba Souji, and I want to welcome you three to the Entertainment Duel Club! Today, I want to not only get to know you all, but I want to get a gauge at everyone's Dueling styles.

We will be meeting in Room 24 in a few minutes. Don't be late!

She had some texts she hadn't noticed when they were sent out, for one. Ah. I've had it on silent this whole time. More importantly, she was late for the meeting! It wasn't like she particularly wanted to show up, but Kyouko had this hunch. One that if she joined only to do nothing afterward, she'd get pestered by Jun until something changed because this was a golden opportunity to make new friends or whatever. That sounded like more of a pain than going to a meeting once or twice a week or whatever. And so, Kyouko broke out into a sprint, darting toward the school building. She could see Room 24 from here, and the open window. It would probably be faster to just climb up there and go in through the window than go inside, around, up the stairs, back round, then through the door.

And so, that was precisely what Kyouko would do. She jumped up onto a windowsill on the first floor, then up to the awning over the front door, then went back for a bit of a running start. And then, in a near-miss jump, she leapt forward, grabbed the ledge, and pulled herself up and through the window of Room 24. It would have been a perfect entrance if not for the fact that on her way in, her hand slipped and she landed face-first on the room's floor with a distinct thud.

"Kyouko Izumi," she flatly introduced herself with, rolling over onto her back. "I'm late and I missed the introductions, but I'd probably forget everyone's names anyway." She glanced around the room. There was the club prez with the stupid hat, the guy that recruited her, that popular entertainment dueling girl, and... that other blue-haired girl. The one Kyouko joked about joining the swim team to pass off as her to. Is she stalking me too?

"I would be happy to let you into my house new friend! I shall update the list promptly!"

It's a bit early to call us friends. We only just met.

"BOMB, as I said, we can't accept them yet, remember? As much as you want more members you have to follow protocol as well."

"Protocol is protocol," Sammi agreed. She and BOMB should have understood that best of all people. Even if she couldn't join the house right this instant though, there were still questions she wanted to ask. Some of them were better off being asked privately, but there was one in particular that came to mind. Something she could ask in a normal setting without looking suspicious. "I am curious what makes you tick though, if you wouldn't mind sharing. The robotics tech where I'm from is behind by some three, four... hundred years, and it's kind of a passion of mine."

    hzxKAxh.png

"Yeah...it uh...sure is. It certainly hasn't been the first day i was expecting so far. Or the building I was expecting for that matter. I wonder what else they use this place for."

This girl was asking the right questions! This place was huge, so surely there was more to it than just a place to hold announcements in front of the entire student body! Vivian put some thought into it. Maybe it could transform into an arena for sparring matches! That would be neat. Before she could come up with a solid answer, a third girl also joined in on the conversation. Much like how the first girl had a prosthetic leg, this one had an arm.

"This school is amazing, isn't it? Hey there! What's your name? I'm Kelsey and, this here is Stella. In case she forgot to introduce herself again."

"I'm Vivian. It's nice to meet both of you!"

"Kinda strange music choice but I could get into it, how bout you two?"

Was it? "I have a pretty bad ear for music, so I cant get much into any kind of it." Vivian only briefly remembered a short time where she wanted to learn to play the piano. That dream was cut off early into practicing, and probably for the better. Some other students seemed to be enjoying it though, so that was nice for them! Vivian - for one - was more stoked about all this open space to run around in. The ship had also been pretty big, but that was a spaceship with mecha in it, so of course it had to be big. This building was something else entirely. If somebody could read her thoughts, they'd probably think she was emphasizing the sheer size of this room alone too much, but it was simply that impressive to her.

"So, what brings the two of you to MechA Cademy?"

"And where do you get off telling me what to do, hm? Get the girls inside. I'll tell you all about my journey later if you do."

Uh-oh. The way this was shaping up didn't bode well. Had she said the wrong thing maybe? She certainly couldn't fight Allie head-on if it came down to it, probably. At least it was an opponent she'd seen in action before this time though. Not that it was much consolation.

"What are you trying to hide from me little miss foreigner?"

"My face, mostly," Nani answered, doing her best to at least lighten the mood, and ideally dodge the question completely, as she fiddled around with her hood's ears. "I've heard of 'a face only a mother could love' but I'm really pushing it. Makes the Hunchback of Lumiose City look like a real prince charming. I don't deal in orders though; I'm not really telling you what to do so much as just, there's so many good reasons not to go fight Heatran this instant, right? He'll still be up there later and all. Sorry if we got off on the wrong foot or something." Nani made sure to keep light on her feet though, in case she had to bail in a hurry.

  17. double-posting for an OP's suggestion that I had exactly zero way of predicting could have happened in any timeline.

I remember in an older Yui Rates Music thread, I gave the original Diggy Diggy Hole a 10/10 score (thanks @Shradow). It's no surprise that I'd give a metal cover of it another 10/10. So you'll be quite surprised to hear that I'm actually giving this one a 9/10. The percussion in the original was a huge part of why I liked it so much. Maybe I just need to let this one grow on me.

EDIT: Yeah, 10/10, but for different reasons than the original.
