On the one hand, I thought the aesthetic of the shows ever since Zexal (Technically started with 5D's, but were especially noticeable since Zexal) needed to be reined in, and I've wanted literally any other kind of art style.

This… is way too much in the other direction, however.

I know. Without Studio Gallop at the helm, it really feels they had no confidence with the existing media, and just decided to emulate every other TCG anime. Even the original Toei studio anime looks better.

I do so hope the rumours of Gallop working on a separate Yu-Gi-Oh Anime for the 25th anniversary are true. We'll find out tomorrow.

The big issue I have with the Dimitri attention is that it ended up pulling away from the rest of the storylines involved. There’s a ton of cut content in the files for the route, compared to others, because you spend so much time on just Dimitri. I really do like the guy, a lot, I just wish that it didn’t feel like the rest of the route was tacked on.

I think this is a much better execution of Hoshido, and Black Eagles is an actually good execution of Nohr, so take that as you will.

With Three Houses, the devs confirmed that Fates happened because they didn't get why Awakening succeeded internationally. They felt like it was the same game as always, more or less, yet it sold.

The answer was marketing + a hint of player character, but they were so befuddled that they pulled out all the stops to try and make something to lure in western audiences.

Aaand we got Fates. Explains why it was such a mess, overall.
