  1. "Oh, hello Rona."

Rona, who had been leaning against the counter, suddenly straightened as she heard the commander's voice. Smoothing out what little clothing she wore she turned to him. The girl thought she caught the blacksmith's wry smile but it was gone quickly after as the man spoke with the commander.

It seemed Leon as well would be getting a new weapon. The two stood awkwardly as they waited for the man to fetch their purchases and Rona glanced sideways at Leon, wondering if he noticed that she had gotten two weapons like he had asked, and wondering why it mattered, before thanking the blacksmith and paying for her purchases.

Leon looked to be heading out without saying anything more. Which caused Rona to wonder if she had done something wrong. Should she have gotten a different weapon? Perhaps it was too expensive. She could've gotten two bronze, or iron, axes for less cost after all.

"so, was there anything else you wanted to do today?

Rona had to keep herself from jumping as the young man casually addressed her. "N-" Rona winced as she bit her tongue in her haste to speak. "Not...particularly." She said, slowly, regaining her composure. "We don't need any more supplies do we? Er, did you need me to pitch in? You didn't buy it all yourself did you?" She left the store with him, instinctively standing by his side and scanning the area for any trouble. "Did you want to check on the others?"

  2. From her perch atop the roof Valerie noticed someone take out another of the would-be-students, who looked like some kind of cosplayer, with a barrier of sorts. The girl frowned, not particularly liking the method, but realizing that if the boy hadn't been able to handle that he'd probably have not done well to begin with. He had a punch-able face anyway.

Shrugging she continued to look around. She didn't spot anything obvious but there was a slight noise that caught her attention. Turning down her music she focused more and then realized what the noise was.

    A baby's cry.

Once she paid more attention she could tell it was nearby. Across the street, in fact. Scanning the windows she noticed that only one of them wasn't broken. Given the noise was muffled she figured that had to be where it was coming from.

She probably could get back down to street level and find a way from there. However if anyone else noticed the noises they could get to it first.

Plus this would be way more fun.

Stretching her limbs out the girl tried to figure out the distance between the buildings. Once she got a general idea she took off at a sprint and, putting a foot on the ledge of the roof, dove off of it and across towards the other one. She could have crashed into the window directly but that would result in a lot of broken glass near her exposed skin. So instead she aimed a bit to the side and hit the wall, holding onto the window sill, and laughed as the slight pain in her side throbbed. "Bit of a rough landing." She muttered.

Looking into the window she noticed what could only be described as a recreation of a baby's room. She noticed the crib in one corner and as far as she could tell that's where the noise was coming from. Part of the ceiling was caved in, near where she expected was the doorway, and the situation became clear.

She debated using her elbow to break the glass but thought better of it. Reaching into her bag she pulled out the metal badge and, aiming low, smashed it against the window. She then reached in and unlatched the lock and pulled the window open.

Crawling inside she moved towards where the baby, a small doll with a speaker in it, was located. There was a badge pinned to the doll's diaper and, when Valerie picked it up, she realized it would take some effort to rip it off. With a shrug she put the badge, crying baby and all, into her duffel bag. Which helped to muffle, but not silence, the noise.

Three down. Now, what was next?

  3. Belladonna would find that she wasn't the first to decide to go below deck. All three of the couches down there were in some way occupied. The closest one to the door had a young girl, Naomi, sprawled across it. She was sleeping on her back with her limbs akimbo and her mouth wide open. She seemed to have been there for some time but she was still fully clothed and in a position that should have been uncomfortable.

The couch nearer to the television had much room on it still. The only one on it was a Hoppip who seemed to be less sitting on it more hovering over a cushion and bouncing up and down. It looked rather frustrated and when Belladonna came in the Pokemon's focus went right to her in an almost expectant gaze.

And near the last couch, across the room from the one the girl slept, was a Rhyhorn. She didn't sit on the couch but was so close to the edge of it that it would be hard to get onto it without climbing over her. She was watching the girl across the room intently and when Belladonna came in the Rock Pokemon's head turned towards her for a brief moment.

Up above deck the captain of the vessel boarded it and strolled over to the group. "We'll be setting off in fifteen minutes. You three got here just in time. It'll take a few hours to get to the other side so hope you all settle in nicely! If you have any questions I'll be over at the helm that-a-way."

TTYD is my favorite video game, so

I totally get that, it's probably in top 10 for me.

It has the one thing I find most important in RPGs. Fun NPCs. There's nothing that takes me out of a game more than going around talking to the random NPCs and they just regurgitate plot points and mechanics. TTYD is one of the best games for NPC dialogue there is.

  5. "No, no, I swear. Cloud Watching Club isn't nearly as boring as it sounds."

Gabriela just barely managed to push past them when another boy ambushed her. Though he was sent scurrying by...Was that the Jun girl?

"Ahem, as I was saying. Hey there Gabby!"

Yes, it was. Gabby felt relief as someone she knew, if barely, approached her. However Gabriela scowled at her, trying to keep composure even with the people pressing on her, though they seemed less enthusiastic now that Jun was on the scene, and responded snappily. "Gabriela. And good day, you're that Captain's comrade correct?"

"So how would you," the girl shoved a flier into Gabriela's face saying, "like to join the duel team? It's a whole lot of fun and you there's a ton of fun people on it. Like, well,"

Jun seemed to have to think about it a bit, not the best sign, before speaking again. "oh, there's Captain. He's cool, maybe a little weird here and there but that just means you're a perfect for the club. And he's at the table so I'm sure you can talk to him this time."

"Hmph, as a matter of fact I planned on blessing the Duel Team with my noble presence. It seems to be the club that most fits my needs. If I'm to determine this place's worth I'll need to know more about how you duel. Very well, take me to him posthaste."

There was a collective groan from the people around. Some of them still tried to get some last minute recruiting but Gabriela, feeling more confident with Jun there, shot them a look and shooed them away. Jun brought Gabriela over to where the Duel Team's table was, which was a bit difficult as Gabriela insisted on not being led "Like a common hound" despite not knowing where she was going.

They eventually reached it and the girl hesitated as she saw the captain sitting there, speaking with prospective new members. The girl took a deep breath and marched up to the table. Standing in front of it, hands on her hips, she looked at him, slightly to the side as she couldn't meet his eyes, and asked "You're the one who ripped my bag of nourishment during that duel were you not? I fully expect you to repay me for that."

Stupid, Gabby, stupid. You're supposed to be making friends and joining a club not demanding a bag of chips.

"Oh, and, I suppose I, Princess Gabriela Von Draculesti, Third of her name, Keeper of the Key, Angel of the Dark, Crown Princess of Romvania, would be willing to allow you to have me on your team."

  6. Valerie's body was literally starting to shake with excitement. So many people around the area were getting so pumped up. And all the while this boy that she had wanted to help pump up seemed to become even more withdrawn.

“...hey, uh, you realize how hot you are right?”

Valerie gave a laugh as the boy tried to explain himself. She pat her hand on his shoulder and gave him a thumbs up. "How about I just take that as a compliment and let's move on. Get your head in the game, Headphones, things are really gonna heat up from here on."

As if to prove that one of the girls Valerie had addressed earlier stepped up to her.

"You want to talk about weakness, I'm more than happy to put yours on display once we get inside,"

"If you're trying to scare me off it ain't working. I'll accept your challenge, any day, any time!"

Squeezing Lesnar's shoulder she started to move towards where they were instructed. She spoke over her shoulder at him, "And if you want to see more of my 'hot body' feel free to try and keep up with me."

Introducing herself, loudly and proudly, Valerie declared, "My name is Valerie Clark. And I'm going to be the number one hero!" Placing the weighted badge in her gym bag Valerie then took off into the testing area.

While she didn't want to put her headphones on, she needed to be aware, she couldn't help but put on some music to keep herself pumped up.

True to her plan she went straight to the city area as soon as she could. She was already starting to pump out the heat more than normal and she didn't want to burn the entire forest down.

The first building that really stood out was one that looked to be sealed off. Caution tape, barriers to prevent entrance, something that really seemed out of the ordinary especially in an abandoned testing area.

Moving around to a narrow alley in the backs he noticed a fire escape that seemed to be in some disrepair. The ladder didn't reach nearly close enough to the ground but there were a couple dumpsters nearby. So Valerie took off at a run, jumped onto the dumpster, kicked off the wall, and grabbed onto the bottom of the lowest platform on the fire escape. From there she pulled herself up. As soon as she did she heard the metal groan in protest and begin to tear from the wall. Immediately the girl began to race up the steps, leaping up to grab onto the next platform as soon as she could in order to scale it faster, and she managed to get to the top of the roof before the fire escape gave way and crashed to the ground.

"If they didn't know where I was before I bet they do now." She muttered with a smirk.

Atop the roof was what seemed to be a crashed helicopter. Though upon closer inspection it was clear it was a simulation. She noticed her prize, a badge, among the wreckage. Was this supposed to simulate someone injured in the crash? Well, whatever the case she moved forward and crouched to grab the thing and put it in her bag with the other one.

Standing and heading to the edge of the roof she used this chance to examine the area. From up here she'd probably be able to spot something that'd point her to the next badge.

    This was way too easy.

My friend told me I should just check out the manga since the anime's fine, but it's the superior iteration. Curious how people here feel between the two; I think this is one of the few high-profile anime from 2018 I hadn't checked out.

The manga is overall imo better BUT the anime captures it almost perfectly and has an added bonus of animation and music that really fits the scenes. Anime is legit top 5 anime for me. So if you like this kind of show/manga then definitely check it out.

Also Yuu is easily my favorite.

  8. The Rain Hides Your Tears

    Spoiler

    Name: Hotaru Hisakawa
    Gender: Female
    Age: 17

    Appearance

    Spoiler

    Image

A rather tall, at 5'10", but thin, girl. Rather waif-like it's clear she's skinnier than she should be. Her skin is pale and rarely shows color. even when embarrassed. Her hair is shoulder-length, with bangs that entirely cover her eyes if she doesn't keep brushing them aside, and has a tendency to stay wet for long periods of time. Her dark blue eyes tend to glaze over often which gives her a lost-in-thought look.

She dresses rather simply in whatever she can find but it's usually dresses more than anything else.

    Personality

    Spoiler

A rather languid and mopey girl. She doesn't seem to have much motivation to do much and is prone to falling into despair at every setback. Though in an odd way she has almost accepted that was how things are. She doesn't get upset anymore at negativity. Instead she accepts it with a cynical outlook. Things are bad and they are going to be bad so she just has to deal with that as it goes.

She doesn't have much hope or desire personally. She knows she has to keep going for...some reason. She's not entirely sure why she doesn't just give up but she assumes it's because there's nothing much else for her to do.

There's a sarcastic edge to her that comes out now and then but she usually mumbles and doesn't like to speak up to other people. In fact she is incredibly uncomfortable making herself noticed which leads her to dislike her height, which makes her stand out in a group more often than not, and usually attempts to shy away from wherever the most people are located. If you do get her to talk it's usually talking to the floor, or from behind her hair, and if asked to repeat herself she tends to respond with "Nothing, never mind." instead of repeating herself.

    Biography

    Spoiler

Orphaned at a young age, her parents dying in a car accident on a rainy night, she lived in an orphanage from the age 6. A shy, but polite, girl she usually wouldn't have much trouble being adopted. However there was one thing that set her apart from the others and drew people away from her. She had Psychic abilities. Something that most prospective parents were too leery of to want to try and deal with.

However one day, at age 10, she was adopted by a rich couple from Taccon City. They were a rather eccentric and status-obsessed pair who thought it would be "quaint" to have a Psychic child. And that it would show them to be "generous" and "charitable". However after a couple years they got tired of this and, when more of their rich friends began to have their misgivings about the child, they decided to give her up.

Which led her to being part of a rather unusual experiment. Project Crimson.
