  1. pre-test jitters It was barely sunrise when Shoshiki arrived at the testing grounds. He would have left sooner, but decided that walking alone in the dark would be a bit too much for him. It wasn't a big deal, his hotel was only a few blocks away, but Shoshiki decided to play it on the safe side. He was simply being reasonable, nothing more. As far as he could tell, only one girl had arrived before him. She looked distracted, yet determined. Shoshiki figured she was probably friendly enough, but decided not to risk it. Who knows what kind of person could be here, she could have a quirk even grislier than his own. And so Shoshiki Kojin stood almost completely still at the edge of the waiting area, as the rest of the hopefuls arrived. It wasn't long before the gates opened, allowing Shoshiki and the rest of the applicants to make their way in. It seemed the testing ground had both a forest and a cityscape, two environments Shoshiki could only hope he would be able to use to his advantage. As a man in some kind of antique-styled armor explained the test, Shoshiki couldn't help but be distracted by the rest of the entrants, "To get this far…” was that a giant beetle? Did beetles eat meat? One of this size was probably very hungry... “forest type area, and a city type area…” a guy with blue hair and headphones was watching the samurai explain, but looked like he would rather be literally anywhere else... “your objectives will all be the same.” With this, Shoshiki perked up. He should probably pay attention to this part. “In each area are a limited amount of badges that resemble the U.A. logo. To complete the practical, one must obtain five badges and return to the gate before sundown. It doesn't matter how you get your badges. Just so long as you're here, you'll be permitted to attend U.A." Using wording like that is going to make people think we are supposed to fight over these. "So if I beat the snot out of some dude with three badges, and take 'em, I get in?" The question came from an angry-looking, muscular girl, who seemed to be about as tall as Shoshiki himself. Despite her apparent confusion over how many badges she needed, her strategy concerned Shoshiki. He had never really fought before, let alone with someone who had been training their quirk for that purpose for what could be ten years. He felt a terrible sinking feeling inside him as the people surrounding him changed from unknown entities to threats. “...our very BEST!" A loud screech interrupted his thoughts, as Shoshiki quickly pivoted to find its source. As best as he could tell, she had some kind of bat quirk. Wait. Wouldn't that make her a vampire? Was she going to murder Shoshiki and drink his blood as sustenance? The samurai/teacher hybrid had said that they weren't supposed to kill each other, but this was a vampire, do the rules even matter at this point? Even as the vampire was scolded by another scary girl with red hair, Shoshiki still found himself feeling like prey. Even if not literally, everyone around him was determined to get into this school, and Shoshiki standing in their way wasn't going to make them change their minds. He could feel the threads of nerve tissue moving just beneath his skin, his flight or flight response coming on in full force. Should he team up with someone so as to have strength in numbers should they be attacked? Or would that just put him at risk of being betrayed once they had found a total of five badges? As the rest of the would-be students were beginning to socialize, Shoshiki was overcome with fear. Even as he could feel himself shaking from head to toe, he forced himself to take a few deep breaths, before making his way to the least terrifying person he could see, a small girl with silver hair. He reached up to tap her shoulder, but hesitated before he could. She might have acid skin or something, I should be more careful. Averting his vision, he awkwardly scratched at the back of his neck, speaking in such a subdued tone that he was hardly audible, "So, if people are planning to take the badges by force, it might be a better bet to stick together... I don't know you, but, you seemed a bit more pleasant and a bit less violent than the others I see here..."
  2. I don't know how to hold a pen. Nobody else in my family is left handed, so I ended up teaching myself. Get some pretty bad hand cramps.
  3. Magister Sphinx doesn't do anything. Silas is pretty good.
  4. Any combo producing infinite mana wins with breya. Pretty sick shit, really. I make use of lots of board controlling cards, like null orb. I find scourglass a bit slow. If the downside on an artifact becomes too much, turn it into value.
  5. I'm really not liking darksteel forge. Yes, it makes your boards far more resilient, but it doesn't seem you have too many ways of ripping it out, let alone at instant speed, so it just feels like a bit of a do-nothing card in a deck that wants to be doing a lot of things. On another note, your land count feels a little bit high to me. My artifact deck is far harder into combo than yours, so I wouldn't suggest going as low as I have, but somewhere around 33 feels closer to what would serve you best, replacing the cuts with some rocks to speed things up a bit, such as Mind Stone, Hedron Archive, Commander's Sphere, and perhaps even Felwar Stone. Wait wtf where is sol ring
  6. If you can find space, a trick from canlander is making use of instant speed sacrifice effects to make tidehollow sculler fail to return the card to hand. Not certain what could accomplish that goal here, but considering you have good advantage generation, such a effect could still be useful without the sculler. Can't check wording right now, but I think that would work with spell queller as well, though queller is often just better used for the tempo.
  7. Oh. She probably does some dumb stuff with reveillark.
  8. Forget about gaining life with kokusho. Kill yosei and win.
  9. Con: site is low key hell on mobile Pro: I literally don't care
  10. I never thought I'd say this, but it kinda sucks that there aren't any advisors in standard right now.
  11. Kinda want to do a pokeblog of ultra sun, but posted in the format of a third-person (or first-person?) narrative. Would anybody be interested in that? I've barely gotten to the second island in my previous playthrough, so most of the game would be a blind run for me.

    1. yui

      yui

      I'd read that.

  12. Target a monster the opponent is attacking to OTK on their turn
  13. Idk if it's AJAX, or what, but these live notifications are pretty sweet on mobile, I'll say that much.

    fun fact

I don't like mobile sites. Shift+enter is taking getting used to on desktop, while impossible on mobile. Things should be better with source mode, so thanks for that one. Community feels better than ever. Not enough for me to be interested in the discord, but definitely some positive vibes all around, given circumstances.
  15. Despite confusion, I seem to be doing it as well. If you were on the old forum, you'll probably know who I am, if you weren't, then don't worry it's really not a big deal. I'm pretty excited for all the things this forum will have. The migration went much more smoothly than I expected, and seeing the community have a new home really does bring me joy. I probably won't be as active here as I was on ycm, but if you don't already know me, expect to see me. I'm pretty omnipresent.
  16. Lizrog is a limited card. Lizrog is a very strong limited card

    fun fact

as of this thread being posted, just over 50% of the topics in misc are AMAs. also ask me anything
  18. wtf aix? fuckit, whatever. Yeah, set is looking sweet. Definitely going simic, and it will be my girlfriend's first prerelease with rakdos. As for gruul being underwhelming, I agree that domri is pretty meh, but they have some of the best commons in the set. Hasty trampling hill giant wtf EDIT: adapt isn't just monstrous. The fact that it can be reused by removing the counters is actually bonkers relevant, especially with the Lizrog hopping about. I agree that the mechanic is very simple, but I wouldn't consider that a fault. It has really interesting gameplay implications (probably the most complexity-inducing of the new mechanics, due to combat interactions) and I'm never going to feel bad about a mana sink in limited.
  19. oh thank god the desktop ui actually feels like the old forum. I'll tell ya now, this site is weird on mobile.

    1. Ash

      Ash

Yeah the fact it actually functions as a mobile site is hard to get used too huh
