Sunsoul Dragon

Level 7 | Wyrm/Synchro/Effect | FIRE

ATK: 3000 DEF: 0

Effect:

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-tuner monsters

During each of your opponent's End Phases, if you control this Synchro Summoned monster: your opponent takes 3000 damage. Reduce this damage by 1000 for each 1 Card type effect (Monster, Spell, Trap), except this card, that was activated this turn. You can only use the effect of "Sunsoul Dragon" once per turn.

 

Design Notes:

The basic rundown of this card's effect is this: your opponent ends their turn, then they take a whopping 3000 damage. The catch is, this damage gets reduced for each different card type that was activated this turn.

So, if your opponent activates a Spell card, the damage gets reduced by 1000, so it is only 2000 damage. Note that, if your opponent activates two Spell cards, the damage is still 2000, because they are the same card type. Also, while this card doesn’t count its own activation for its effect (that would be lame if it did), it does count other cards that you activate. So, if you drop a Trap card like Infinite Impermanence, the damage would be reduced by another 1,000.

In other words, if a Monster, a Spell, and a Trap effects are all activated in the same turn, this card’s damage total is 0.

One last note, is that if a card's activation is negated, then it won't reduce this card's damage. However, if a card's effect is negated, then it will still count since it was still activated. An example of a card that negates effects but not activations is Ash Blossom.

I love this design. There is a lot of cards that can "lock" a certain card type from play to your opponent, i can easily see this card in a burn deck that can lock for example spell or trap cards, or heavily punish them if they play that locked card type. Gg dude btw nice card building with this artwork.

Well, 3000 original ATK sure is above the average for a generic Synchro7, actually I cannot think of any generic Synchro7 with that much base ATK. However, IMO that's pretty much the only thing going for it, as I find the effect lackluster: not only it applies until the next turn, also it can be reduced, and most decks play at least monsters and Spells so the likelihood of dropping the damage to 1000 is high. And that's only if the monster manages to survive until the opponent's EP, and it has no sort of built-in protection to back itself up, unlike, let's say, that Darkess Metal Red-Eyes Dragon Rank7.
In short, the card has more value as a raw-ATK beater (e.g. relevant under effects like Skill Drain, where a generic Synnchro7 that gets bigger by an effect would be weaker) than for its burning effect, which is more of an icing-on-cake, or perhaps I should call it an overkill. And that's not really a bad thing, it just gives it a more specific niche, so I really wouldn't change anything about the card. If anything, a build-in protection to something (e.g. destruction, targeting) but I wouldn't really push it because then it could get scarier than intended.

      I hope you weren't expecting a Cyber Dragon card! The Cyber Girls are a group of mostly-EARTH Warrior monsters also originating from Yugioh GX that really never took off the way their successors, the Cyber Angels, eventually would. I felt like making one of my own to at least relate to what most of their effects did as several of the Cyber Girls have effects relating to direct attacks and their boss monster, Cyber Blader, happens to be a Fusion Monster. The Cyber Girls all have something to do with female sports or athletics, so for this one I felt like going with roller derby since I haven't really seen that used as an aesthetic for anything in the game to the best of my knowledge.       If this card is sent from the hand or field to the GY: You can Ritual Summon 1 Non-Effect Ritual Monster from your Deck. This effect of "Angelfood" can only be used once per turn.

      The result of some drawing practice I felt like making into a full card. A pretty straightforward effect that's probably significantly more powerful than I imagine it to be. But hey, those dusty Performance of the Swords and Crab Turtles in your box of old cards deserve some love.
