I will pull you out from among your streams,     with all the fish sticking to your scales. -Ezekiel 29:4 (NIV) Perhaps Melissa should have realized what was up when Hana played the Field Spell, but the Terrorking Salmon definitely confirmed it; she was one of those players, a distinction that didn’t really need elaborating on. But she did call the game Duel Monsters. “I call it Duel Monsters too,” Melissa said. They were kin in that respect. “Most of my cards didn’t make it on the journey to Prana, though, so I just have what I could pick up here. I’m happy to play sometime, though maybe not while we’re working.” She was glad to see that the kids were taking to the Salmon alright -- or most of them were, anyway. She kicked and splashed at a few of the ones nearer to the front, and they giggled in delight. To the rest of the children, though, especially those that had an especially negative reaction to the Monster, it was time to move things along. “I suppose that that is all of our introductions,” Melissa said. “That was our goal here, of course, to let you all see and meet the people helping protect Prana. We’re just two teams -- parts of two teams -- of many. I haven’t even been in Prana for two weeks and I’ve met so many people.” Melissa took a breath. She had always been aware of how many eyes were on her from the moment she stepped in the room, but with the way she was standing, making sure to use her Duel Field (was it still called that?) to provide the kids with some sort of shoreline against Hana’s infinitely-rising tide, she had to stand basically perpendicularly to everyone, maybe cheating her stance outwards just a little. The point was, it was awkward, but she tried to make the most of it. And yet, somehow, she summoned up the extra effort to keep smiling. “We’re just people, too,” she said. “Don’t be afraid to come to one of us if you need help or have a question outside of this classroom. Maybe you even have one now. “Though, with Constable, hopefully you can also find someone to translate.”
