  2. We should have an NCM bar brawl where NCM members meet up and beat the shit out of each other. This is a perfectly good idea and is very entertaining.

  3. So Praey for the Gods, the Shadow of the Colossus inspired game, has basically exactly BOTW's mechanics. There's a glider sail and you can climb anything and the sprint/grip is represented by a circle next to your character and there's weapon degradation and tons of random collectible not-heart-containers because colossi will almost always instagib you if you're caught off guard and you can craft and upgrade your stuff, and so on.

I backed it forever ago and actually forgot about it until I got the survey email last month (getting it for PS4) so after reacquainting myself with it, I'm excited.

  4. In chapters 1-4 of danganronpa V3, Despair Searching plays because of the despair of finding the murderer.

In chapter 5 of danganronpa V3, Hope Searching plays because of the hope that they're okay.

  5. That's like putting a /v/ thread in /vg/, you know what I'm sayin'? Those threads are more long-form and continous, this is more one-off. I'm grateful to both of you, thanks. Also, I still felt the idea of "oh this place sure looks placid and peaceful... except it's actually an infinite hell" in danganronpa 2, and the opposite idea of "this place looks like hell except it's actually heaven reveal at the end of DR1" so I'm fine with it. The meta aspects and overarching themes went over my head, and honestly even just understanding them and their intent now doesn't add anything to the experience at all to me, just feels like devs trying new self-contained themes with big changes and giving fancy justifications for how it means more than just a new theme.

  7. I beat all of Danganronpa except the weird shooter game and the anime, here's what I liked and didn't like about it/what I think of it all: https://neocardmaker.com/forum/index.php?/topic/656-danganronpa-12v3-retrospective-marked-spoilers-but-still/

TBH the Danganronpa 3 anime is worth a watch, even if only for how much it fleshes out 2's already great cast.

  8. So I beat Danganronpa V3 today after almost a year and a bit of delaying and being lazy playing games I don't even remember, and now I beat all 3 DR games that aren't ultra despair girls, so I thought I'd say what I liked about it. I started playing DR right after the PC release of 2 came out in early 2016 and didn't know what to expect. I knew who the mastermind of the first game was based on a spoilerish image I'd seen maybe a year later that didn't make sense at the time but made a lot of it later, so what can you do. I REALLY liked it as my first DR game, like it's legit one of my favorite games ever, all the characters were lively and likable and even persona games didn't compare to how awesome they all were, and there were very few I disliked(namely kukichi, teruteru, nekomaru), and it got me really hooked on the series. Also, hopeman was the best dude ever, and some of the other characters I liked a lot like Ibuki, Peko, Hiyoko, Chiaki, Sonia, all awesome, and Fuyuhiko I didn't care for/hated at first but after ch2 he was so great. Spoilers for chapter 5 of Danganronpa 2 are here: Spoilers for chapter 6 of Danganronpa 2 are here: After playing DR2, I decided I had to play DR1 and got it. DR1 is... fine, I guess. Like, it set the stage for the whole series of course, and if it hadn't been as big of a hit as it was we wouldn't have all these masterpiece games, but still, I feel like it's not that good anymore. Like, many of the characters in it are either completely forgettable or just don't have enough likeability, like they just don't DO anything much. Also, in comparison to 2, the class trials felt much flatter and less involved/interesting other than the last trial. Also, since I'd played 2 I was 100% certain of who the villain in DR1 was, so there goes that too, but the ending was still surprising/interesting. Like, the dudebro characters are practically all forgettable. Leon, biker guy, the one in the white clothes, all suck. Yasuhiro isn't all that great too, and neither is the cosplay fat guy. Byakuya was also sort of boring, and not in a squidward straight-man sort of way. The characters I liked were Chihiro, Celestia, Kyoko, Ogre, Toko, and Aoi, everyone else feels like filler, basically, especially like I said, all the dudebros. Spoilers for the first 3 chapters of Danganronpa 1 go here: Also, I feel like the area they're in wasn't very fun. Like, the school they're in felt cramped and didn't have a lot of gimmicks or anything which made the class trials very exciting, and I know I'm comparing it to 2 but I played that first, and after playing V3 I am doubly affirmed by this. Spoilers for ALL class trials in Danganronpa 1 go here. Much later on, I got danganronpa V3. I remember getting it right when it came out in late 2017, actually, but had delayed playing it a lot, and only finished it just earlier today. I got the game and liked basically all the characters. Like, the only character that I didn't REALLY like was Ryoma Hoshi, more than any other game it felt super sad to see any of them that died, die, I liked Angie, Gonta, Himiko, Keebo, Kaede, Kaito, Kirumi, Kokichi, Korekiyo, Maki, Miu, Tenko, and Tsumugi. Like seriously, I liked all of them A TON except Ryoma and Rantaro, who are boring, and Korekiyo, who is a weirdo, but Korekiyo is still fine, honestly. The class trials and murders this time around were set up even better than all the previous ones, they all gave thrills and chills, the setups were massive, the plots were elaborate, the stories and motives were huge and got the ball rolling better than the previous games/made things much more exciting, they were good. Also, the theme of the game is much better than in DR1, the academy is much bigger, there's a courtyard, the ultimate labs are cool, there's more gimmicks in it, more wild stuff happens like the opening of the new areas, areas like miu's lab make this a much more "anything can happen!" theme than DR1, etc. A lot of the game's secrets were very obvious to me, though, since I knew about DR1 and DR2's endings and this setup looked suspiciously similar. Also, the Monokubs are greaaaaat. Like, sure Monokid can basically eat a bag of dicks, but Monophanie, Monotaro, and Monodam are such funny comic relief even in comparison to monokuma from the last two games. Also, Kokichi, maaaaan, that is the wildest ride I've been on ever, forget hopeman, Kokichi is the craziest and best written character, what a ride. Spoilers for ALL class trials and my reaction to them in DR3 go here: Spoilers for chapter 5 are here: And now I gotta talk about the ending because that's obviously all you clicked on this thread to see: A bunch of other comments about some of the characters: Maki is really great and seeing her go from evil to nice was good character development. Kaito is such a bro, he was so great all the time and did so much for everyone. Angie and Tenko are fun. Like, they added so much comic relief/general silliness and were always nice to see. Himiko is sorta lame. Like, I like how she gets better, but she still doesn't really feel like an impactful character all the time, or a funny one either. Shuichi... man Shuichi. He's a story in himself, and he's the best, he works so great off everything happening. Other comments: I haven't played School Mode or Island mode in ANY of the games. Like, I played DR2's island mode right when I unlocked it, and it was too confusing to me, I didn't want to minmax or get unlucky with gets or so on so I didn't care for it. DR1's School Mode even less so since I didn't like the characters. DRV3 though... The Ultimate Talent Project is an awesome thing, like it just wrapped the whole series in a nice bow, and seeing more and more character interactions practically from across the entire series like seeing Tenko spar against Aoi and Akane is awesome, and it makes me really appreciate danganronpa in its full totality, even if I didn't like SOME minor squabbles. The RPG mode is very cool, too. Maybe I'll actually play this game's Island Mode, why not, right? Especially since I hear it's more energized and awesome than the last two. One more thing: These games' OSTs are absolute BANGERS. LIKE, HOT DAMN, THE MUSIC IS SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. Everything about this game's music is great, from the theming, to the memorability, to the catchiness, to how goofy they can be, to how fitting they are, it's all such a masterwork of music. Musics like HOPE SEARCHING and DESPAIR SEARCHING to the class trial Nonstop Debate Theme to Monokuma's Theme to the Danganronpa intro music to Monomi's theme to Monokubs Theme to Beautiful Lie to Scrum Debate to Becoming Friends to all the others is so incredible. Even just looking at the TVtropes page for awesome music makes me love the series more: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/AwesomeMusic/DanganRonpa IT'S ALL SO GOOD. Like, I always think OST is one of the best parts of a really good game, and this is just right up my alley. Goodbye, Danganronpa, one of the best serieses ever made.
  9. So I just beat danganronpa V3(I'm at the final cutscene, actually), and I had famously heard it had a bad ending and thought it was just people not surviving or the survivors being unlikable or there are no survivors or something but yikes. Like, legit it subverted my expectation for how bad it was even harder than any class trial, for real, it's the worst. I will probably post a danganronpa retrospective or something of the sort later.

Definitely disagree, but it's not a uncommon opinion. Definitely disagree with it though.

  10. I said yesterday that wargroove, DMFD, and sunless skies were out, but apparantely I forgot that Praey for the Gods is also out in early access, it's a shadow of the colossus clone that takes place in norse mythology. Also, Metal Slug XX(the newest one) is out on steam, but is apparantely very badly received.

  11. So today comes out Wargroove, Dragon Marked for Death, and Sunless Skies, get super hype. Out of all those if you had to buy just one, I'd say wargroove bc advance wars deserves saving, but DMFD is made by the people who made Megaman Zero ,Megaman ZX and Bloodstained Curse of the Moon(the NES spinoff) so they deserve your support too, and Sunless Skies just has the best eldritch-y writing, it's like reading out of neo-lovecraft book in full authenticity, none of that "ooh the enemies have tentacles isn't that terrifying lovecrafty XD".

  12. I think I'm done with Siralim 3, or won't play it as often, I beat all the super-duper-ultra bosses 6 times(which you need to do to unlock being able to use a weaker version of them), and I don't feel like fighting all the extra, weaker bosses or doing any of the stupid achievements like play for 1000 hours or battle in 1000 tavern brawls or reach fame rank 100 or etc, and I already have a functionally-invincible team comp(my team prevents enemies from casting spells and takes ~99.9997% reduced damage from all other sources). I had a lot of fun creating a lot of team comps and archetypes and stuff, really great game. Jumbo elephant just sucked to fight tho, starting the fight with 2000% all stats is just bullocks. https://i.imgur.com/wHjrZE8.png

Do the math, my team have(multiplicatively):

      Spoiler

      90% reduced damage from surathli

      50% reduced damage from bulwark

      30% reduced damage from jailbreak

25% reduced damage from chaos guard

65% reduced damage from damage control

      30% reduced damage from sloth

~30-50% reduced damage from siren soothsayer

50% reduced damage from ruby paragon

50% reduced damage from topaz paragon

95% reduced damage from drifting shade

90% reduced damage from a rune

      50% reduced damage from wormrot

25% chance to negate all damage from a rune

      50% reduced damage from protect

35% chance to negate all damage from perks

25% chance to negate lethal damage from perks(it doesn't count, but still)

30% reduced damage from their helmets

~40% reduced damage from their helmets.

It's BASICALLY invincibility, only enemies that are 5000x your level will even scratch you.

    2. mido9

      mido9

But how does it win, you might ask, or you probably won't considering I have probably literally never gotten a reply to my siralim status updates except by rewas mocking me.

      Spoiler

Spell gem of Mutilate: Deal damage to a random enemy equal to 100% of its maximum HP, before reductions. This spell cannot be cast manually, but has a 15% chance to cast when its owner takes damage. Equipped to all my creatures.

Spell gem of Guardian Force: Your creatures defend. Equipped to all my creatures

      Omnicolor Salamander: Traits:
Hotspur: At the start of battle, your creatures have a 35% chance each to cast a random spell they have.

Simulation: When your creatures cast a spell as a result of a salamander trait, they cast a random different one of their spells. This trait does not stack.

Wallflower: When your creatures defend or provoke, they cast one of their spells at random. This trait does not stack.

Limitless: When your creatures cast a spell, they have a 50% chance to cast it again. This trait does not stack.

So at the start of battle, Hotspur activates, making a random friendly creature cast either Mutilate or Guardian Force, then Simulation makes them cast the one that didn't activate. An enemy takes damage and all my creatures defend. Wallflower activates, and my creatures cast either guardian force or mutilate, and simulation makes them cast the other spell, they all defend, an enemy takes damage, and so on until you reach the maximum number of spells castable in one turn or the enemies are all dead.

  14. So, I knew everyone knew I was going to like the designs in Girls frontline and Azur lane because you know, cute anime girls doing cute anime things, but I think this is one of my favorite designs in the two games, along with Sopmod and Negev(frontline): https://i.imgur.com/nFMZ1MN.png

      Fusion

      They're fun.

Lot of people watching to do and it's cool to see all the different cosplays. Panels vary, some are cool and some are whatever. I don't usually go to that many, but they'll give you a full schedule so you can see and plan out which ones sound interesting.

Art alleys and the merch room are where it's at because you see a bunch of cool shit. Just be mindful of expenses, they can add up.

    2. Shradow

      Shradow

They're great. Fusion nailed it, but in addition try and see if there are anybody big you'd want to meet, like a voice actor doing a signing session (the line would be long obviously), or maybe some hosting a panel or something. Also see what sort of music groups will be there, there's usually an awesome concert at the cons I go to (last one I went to had fhána and that concert was amazing).

And if you're into that sort of thing, maybe check out any game tournaments. I enjoy Smash Bros. and that's always popular, plus the game rooms themselves sometimes have cool stuff I've never seen before.

Of course, any of this depends on the size of the con you're going to. The one I go to every year, Acen, is the 6th largest in NA, so obviously there's tons at that one.

  17. What's a bigger deal, RE2make or KH3?

    1. Shradow

      Shradow

Gotta be KH3. I'm very sure Final Fantasy is bigger than Resident Evil, and I know Disney is bigger than Resident Evil. Plus, KH3 is a huge new game in the series that people have been clamoring for for years, while RE2 is a remake.

    2. mido9

      mido9

Thing is like, KH3 is probably going to be almost nonsensical to anyone who hasn't played a lot of KH overall, but RE2 can be played by anyone.

    3. Thar

      Thar

As indifferent as I am to either, KH3 is definitely a bigger deal.
