“Hm, not bad,” Charlie smirked, drawing for turn, “But let’s see if you can handle this! Toy Vendor!” Tossing a card back to the gachapon behind them, the crank pulled down again, rolling a ball out of it… and revealing a sheep with odd wings. Grinning, Charlie drew the top card of their deck and revealed the same monster. “Alright, it’s a Fluffal! And since I revealed Sheep, I can now summon Dog from my hand!” The sheep’s image grew fuzzy, then reformed in the shape of the puppy Fluffal, giving a small yip as Charlie added a card from their deck to their hand. “Which lets me add Penguin to my hand, and I think I’ll go ahead and play him!” Slapping the card onto their disk, a rather silly looking penguin with earmuffs appeared, cocking its head slightly. Soon after, the sheep from earlier appeared in defense position near it, bleating softly. “While I control a Fluffal, I can summon sheep from my hand. And even better, my cute little sheep can bring my doggy back to me and revive Saw!” With a much louder bleat, Dog’s form disappeared, with the cackling, clanging sounds of Saw filling the air as the demon rose from the grave once more. “Then I’ll fuse Penguin and Saw with Fusion Substitute! I can only use monsters on my field, but that’s alright.” Clasping their hands high above their head as the air began to swirl, Charlie’s monsters rose to match their movements. Bringing them down quickly, the same beast as before appeared, revealing Leo’s return to the field. “And now, I use Leo’s effect to destroy Twin Burst!” Peter smiled and raised his index finger in a sort of “just a moment” motion. “Ah, I neglected to mention Return of the Dragon Lords’ other effect. If a dragon would be destroyed, all I have to do is banish it from my Graveyard and the destruction is prevented.” An image of Peter’s card appeared amidst Leo’s swarming blades and shattered in his dragon’s stead. “Not this time,” Peter said. “Yep, I figured as much~” Charlie glanced over their hand. They had the ability to remove it this turn, but that wouldn’t be very fun. “I activate Fusion Recovery! I return Fusion Substitute and Saw from my Grave to hand, since they were used for a Fusion Summon! Then I use Fusion substitute, fusing Leo and Sheep together!” The process began once more a Charlie took a deep breath, clasping their hands together high above them. “An ancient beast returns to us through these two souls! Let the blades tear through you, shredding your enemies! Fusion summon, Frightfur Sabre-Tooth!” A quadrupedal stuffed tiger with bulging eyes appeared before Charlie, around the same height as Leo… Until sharp blades stabbed out from inside of it, slicing its head, jaws, tail, and torso, with fluff falling out of it as it growled happily. Charlie beamed before snapping, a large hooded skeleton with blue eyes appearing next to the tiger with its arms crossed. “I’ll just set up for now~ When Sabre-Tooth is special summoned, I can revive a Frightfur from my grave, so Mister Meister will be the one! And he’ll be kind enough to supply us one more friend from the deck!” Another snap of their fingers and what appeared to be a stuffed pair of wings with gloves appeared next to the skeleton, also protecting itself. “It’s not going to beat your big, strong dragon, but that’s okay. I set one and end my turn~”

Rank 4s have just never seemed... useful. Except maybe Bagooska. I’ve run multiple and tested them and nothing comes up bar, again, very very very rare Bagooska. Selene is a pendulum friend. Points down 3 times. Helps extension. I wish there was a better down 3 times link 3, but she’s good enough. Abomination is easily made with 2 materials and gives you additional removal with Vortex that encourages timing things juuuust right. Also helps break some boards. might add Apollousa in as an alternate to Abomination, though.

Welcome ladies, gentlemen, and anyone in-between, to the first Annual Neo Card Maker Awards! We're here to celebrate our first year together as a new site, as well as look back on the past fondly! With the RP Awards wrapping up, it's the perfect time to come in with some more general awards for the site as a whole. And, what luck, it's just before the anniversary! In fact, the awards will be given out ON the anniversary! Thank you all for your support in getting NCM off the ground! This is the final event of the Year of Rebirth, but the site still has a long ways to go. I, and the rest of the mod team, hope to have an even brighter, even more exciting year in 2020! So let's ring it in with a bang! However, we do need to have a few ground rules before I move us to the categories. In contrast to the RP Awards, all votes will be via PM. You will send them to me, @Blake, and @Yui, who will assist me in tallying. Discussion of votes is discouraged. This thread can be used for discussion, but please do not make cases trying to sway opinions. Please make sure to specify they are for the 2019 awards in the PM title. Please do not vote if you are not active. This is mostly a matter for oneself, I'm just asking you use discretion. You cannot vote for yourself. you say that, but most of those lists leave off... PUBG, Overwatch, Undertale, and so on. Despite the impact. As well as Shovel Knight, Meatboy, Isaac, and more. That's why it bugs me so bad that they claim objective.

With the end of the decade upon us, many sites and personalities are making lists of the most impactful, their favorite, the most beautiful, etc. games of the decade. Needless to say, these lists are, as a rule of thumb, hot garbage that pretends to be objective when they are anything but. So, let's embrace subjectivity! What's your game of the decade? There are all sorts of different criteria you can use. Those listed above are good ones, but you could place value on something even beyond them, so I'm curious to see what everyone's Top Game of 2010-2019 is.

Just here on out, unless the rules change in the future, please, since it's been there since the site was made. The section's been handled hands-off, but I'm gonna be cleaning it up soon. Anything earlier I'll leave be, but please comply with the rules until if/when they change.

Ah, yes, the spooky thread. Where CC gets shaken up. Again. For the umpteenth time. Be it by my hand or another. Perfect. But really, it's not that bad. Simply put, as we move forward, the section is in desperate need of reorganizing. It's a bit cluttered as-is, so the general idea is to fix that up and prepare for the future. Merging Singles and Sets With the way that NCM flows, plus the nice and fluid tagging system we have atm, I think the previous issues that caused a need for the physical separation of the two should be pretty much nonexistent. So long as you clarify somewhere (tags, title, etc.) that your post is a set, it should be fine to simply go in the section. But why is this what we're looking to do? Well, you see... Rush Duels and Speed Duels With the advent of Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens, we will have our third official format added to the game; Rush Duels. It's not especially ergonomic to have 3 sets of Singles and Sets. Sure, the new sections may not see much use, but with Rush Duels being a major format that, as we have been told at this point, all cards from April 2020 onward will be a part off, we should be preparing for the arrival of it. Makes more sense to have 3 dedicated sections than 2 sections with cards for up to 3 different formats. Also of note, Yemachu does have plans to implement the April 2020/Rush Duel Card Format into the card maker, but that is a while off. We'll let you know more as we get closer to release date, but please be patient. In a similar vein... Master Rules April 2020 With the new rules being announced that make major changes to how Fusions, Synchros, and Xyz interact with the gamestate, card design will be expected to keep this format in mind. Proper card design is always looking forward, after all. This will be irrelevant after April 2020 for the standard format, but it is relevant for the time being. Removing Other Subsections Now, Singles and Sets aren't the only sections on the chopping block. Along with it, the Decks and Experimental Card subsections are also being looked at as extraneous. However, these are not without their faults. Decks may not have much, but there is the question of demand. If high enough, the question then becomes where Decks should go. With our third format on the horizon, it would most likely mean decks simply get posted either in the TCG Deck subsection(s) or in their respective CC subsections, but not sure at this time. Experimental Cards will, instead, go into the same sections as every other card. Weird card design shouldn't be punished, so long as it's not too far out there. We aren't going under the label of "Realistic" cards anymore, so while design should be kept with an idea, Joke Cards will instead go in Miscellaneous. The section is functionally a card-based extension of it, so your cards will still be home in Misc. Other Changes? I am unsure right now. A lot of things to incentivize activity or the like would be, in and of themselves, dependent on there being enough activity for them in the first place. As-is, the section is fairly dead, so ideas for this are very welcome. Beyond that, I'll hand the discussion over to you guys, especially the regulars plus any future card makers coming to post, so please post your thoughts, comments, ideas, concerns, etc. The staff is aware of the issue with the card maker at this time. Yemachu should be working to fix it as soon as he's available. Apologies for the inconvenience.

The portmanteau is worse than simply doing Overlay and (if art is available) making the lei apparent in the art. Forced puns in the name aren't worth it, especially when Overlay is a term cards already use. You have the type, plus you can and DID explain, so... Yeah, just poor naming convention. Not really sure why this is LIGHT, but that's just nitpicking. For the card itself, the design is meh? It's a free and unrestricted special summon from the hand, which has a lot of potential and just cheats you into stuff like True King of All Calamities... before you even begin playing your deck. Opening the game with a Big Boi that keeps the opponent from stopping you before you combo off is pretty poor design, even on a Normal Summon only effect. Then you add on the fact that it actually does something, albeit not something great, on top of the first effect and... It's not nearly as likely to be completely dead. So it's flexible in addition to a strong NS ability. It doesn't even make sense in-theme why it does that. I get the idea that it interacts with Overlay Units, but why does it give +800? Why does it come back from the GY? Is it becoming a lei around their neck? If so, why does an OVERLAY themed card equip itself? And why does it banish itself when it leaves the field for such a mediocre effect? Hard OPT makes more sense than that. It may not be super realistic to assume Imperial Iron Wall Shenanigans, but it's safer to be prepared than not. It's not broken, but it's kinda high roll-y, and just not very good design. It shouldn't be able to summon anything from hand, and I'd honestly be hesitant to even allow level 6 for this type of design, much less higher. Negating the effects is not enough of a drawback when you would just use good cards (such as True Kings) or cards with grave effects to compensate for it, and a lot of decks HAVE that sort of thing. Not to mention the latter effect is just overkill to a type of card that would already have a home in certain decks, so I don't... really get it? Why would you add more onto a card that already does things? If you NEED one, a minor GY effect is better than giving it flexibility at every stage. Or, better yet, just make it grant a small effect to what it's attached to as Xyz Material instead of this effect. Like, +500? Encourages them to keep the lei on as long as possible. A limit of, like, Level 6 on the first effect + minor second effect would just be a lot more balanced. And the name can definitely be cleaner. Finally, please put [Written] in the title, as per the rules. Work is going to be going into the section soon, and rules will be cracked down on as needed.

It would appear all cards moving forward are Rush Cards unless stated otherwise. Both classic and rush format will be official tournament formats. Rush cards can be used in classic style, but not vice-versa.
