  1. Yeah, Funimation was just the most visible. I've seen his defenders explicitly say that Jamie and Monica "stabbed Vic in the back." They believe that this was somehow a personal vendetta. They... do not have a healthy mindset about any of this.
  2. https://www.ign.com/articles/watch-the-english-dub-trailer-for-20th-anniversary-film-digimon-adventure-last-evolution-kizuna Oops, looks like Vic got replaced in Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. Matt will now be voiced by Nicolas Roye. By the way, this dub is being produced by Studiopolis. It's almost as if the common thread isn't Funimation being some evil company that's "out to get" Vic, but more that he's a toxic scumbag who deserved to lose his roles. Lol.
  3. Monica and Ron have filed their reply brief regarding fees. Looks like it's pretty solid, though really, filing something more competently that Ty is an absurdly low bar to cross anyway. I believe that with this, the appeal and cross-appeal have been fully briefed. While I'm personally expecting that we'll have to wait until November to get a ruling, I've seen people suggest it may take even longer than that.
  4. So you know that GoFundMe that was totally being done on Vic's behalf that would help him with this lawsuit that he lost, tried to appeal, and now we're at the point where his lawyers flailed around and haphazardly scrambled to put together garbage sur-reply briefs? Yeah. It turns out that the money isn't actually being used for Vic's defense. It's just a slush fund for Ty Beard.
  5. In a bid to demonstrate that Vic is totally not a public figure because he didn't seek out this controversy, and it was merely thrust upon him, Vic's legal defense claims that Vic "lived his life without controversy." The footnote for the citation is blank. The attached tweet comes from a thread that brutally breaks down the sur-reply brief to Marchi's brief. The various briefs seem to be incredibly amateurish, and despite requiring two extensions, Beard's team clearly did not spend enough time properly reviewing this.
  6. Just read the reply brief to Monica and Ron, and it is... laughably terrible. Ty pretty much admits that Vic didn't have evidence, so he has to pretend that Monica and Ron actually gave the evidence themselves! Except he has to spin it so much by basically saying "Vic didn't do that, he really did this!" However, in trying to deny Vic's actions, he ends up confirming them. It's the same thing that has consistently plagued Vic's arguments since his deposition. They keep pretending that arguing about semantics is somehow the same as some grand denial. They seem to think that Vic denying the accusations at all is what proves the allegations false, and by extension, proves that the defendants in fact committed defamation. It doesn't. It just means that Vic denied the allegations... or rather, he only disagreed that what he did was actually all that bad. He confirmed that events described by Jamie and Monica did in fact happen, he just doesn't understand why what he did was wrong. Looks like the rest of the reply briefs have yet to be file and/or released, but if this first brief is any indication, then it's just as sad and pathetic as I expected.
  7. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/editorial/2020-05-22/zac-bertschy-in-memoriam/.159803 Okay. I'm not going to take any bullshit here. Zac Bertschy was an executive editor at Anime News Network. Unfortunately, he has passed away. This is a difficult time for a lot of people to process, and it's certainly going to be difficult for me. But purely by association with ANN, I can't imagine Vic's stans will be in any way respectful of this tragedy.
  8. Looks like even KiwiFarms is getting pessimistic about the outcome of the appeal. I feel pretty good about a certain bet I made over this case. Expect comments like these to age very poorly once this is all over.
  9. With just under a week to go, Ty Beard has asked for yet another extension. It will take another month. He claims that it's because Jim Bullock left the firm... except that's a reason he already cited for the previous extension. In better news, Greg Doucette is now eligible to be licensed to practice law in Texas. That's certainly a more admirable result than the constant delays Vic's team has needed.
  10. Yeah, it's frustrating how many good roles he's had. I think a huge part of the support from him comes from people unwilling to separate his roles from who he is a person. Judge Chupp did a great job. Vic's supporters think Chupp was either overly harsh or simply lazy, but he did the bare minimum to ask Vic and Ty that they had a case, and they couldn't back it up. People thought this would be a slam dunk because Chupp is a conservative judge in Texas, but that didn't make a difference. I have no idea what the panel of judges will look like, but I can't imagine it will give Vic a better chance. Sadly, I can't see this ending with him in jail, but at least his career is dead in the water.
  11. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EN6KdaOLiRwJoKeBcOCTQ1CeSQTP1NAy/view Vic's lawyers have filed for an extension so that their response to the reply briefs can also have the May 20 deadline. James Bullock has also left the firm representing Vic.
  12. https://drive.google.com/file/d/10pxKrHgFQ_fUmISFOfANi8kgsuOMdac8/view Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Vic's lawyers have requested an extension for their cross-appeal brief. The new deadline is May, 20.
  13. https://nintendowire.com/news/2020/04/14/evidence-of-new-switch-hardware-model-found-in-10-0-0-data/

Take this with a grain of salt, but apparently the new firmware update for the Switch adds support for a new hardware model, suggesting it would include a secondary display.

As much as I love the Switch, I've always wished they would bring back the secondary screen from the DS/3DS and the Wii U, so I'm really hoping this is true.

      Thar

Can't wait for people to buy this in bulk and sell for double the value.

  14. Weirdly enough, never really gave Magic much of a try. I've been playing Arena for the past few months, and having maybe a little too much fun with it.

I'd be interested in hearing someone's perspective of just getting into MtG now, especially when you, I presume, mostly did YGO before? It's a really different game overall.

      Flame Dragon would be proud.

@LordCowCow Yup, I've pretty much exclusively played YGO. I did try to give MTG a try once, maybe twice many years ago, but I think the difficulty was that YGO mechanics were so ingrained into my head that I couldn't adjust to MTG. I found that the frustration would go both ways, as the people who would try to teach me MTG would often be confused by YGO. I find Arena to be a much easier way to get into it, and I appreciate it for that.

  15. Oh, this is glorious. So, after Funimation terminated Vic, and Viz seemingly let their contract with him lapse, he was supposedly cast in something called Prince Adventures, from Fantasy Soft Entertainment. As it turns out, Vic recently said that he recorded some lines for them several years ago, and never heard back from them. They were just using his name for clout, especially by taking advantage of people disillusioned by Funimation. Fantasy Soft was probably the main hope Vic's fans could cling to, and it turns out they were frauds. Hard to really feel bad for anyone in this situation, really. Vic did a similar act, where he starred in "Star Trek Continues", and William Shatner personally told him to knock it off. Doesn't feel so good when the shoe is on the other foot, huh?

This is the beginning of the end for Vic's appeal.
  17. Kingdom Hearts 3 is just Nomura telling everybody that he is definitely still bitter about Versus XIII getting replaced with FF15, and I can't help but respect the amount of shade he's throwing.

  18. I'm not even mad to lose Harp Horror and Miragestallio if they take Azathot, Colossus, and Mobilize down with them. This meta has badly needed a reset, and Launch absolutely did not deserve to be banned because of Azathot abuse. Although, there's also VFD, so unless I'm missing something, wouldn't that still be a problem with Launch back?
  19. I have a lot of reservations with this, pretty much like I did with Venom. Never saw that, but heard some mixed opinions on it. In general I just can't bring myself to trust Sony with trying to build their own cinematic universe around Spider-Man's supporting cast. At least with Venom, I kind of understand that. He's a character who has long been able to hold his own as an anti-hero in the comics. But Morbius? He has a horrible track record with holding his own solo series. I wouldn't expect him to fare much better in films.
  20. A transcript of November's sanctions hearing was finally released today, though I think this bit in particular highlights something especially delightful. Vic admitted under oath that he has "no direct evidence" of tortuous interference. Just that he believed it to be true. Hmmmmmm...... What was it that some people were saying? That we should wait for what the judge would say, and let the courts decide? Seems like we did, and in the end, Vic completely lost the case, and we have him confirming that he has nothing to back himself up. Vic failed to prove that any defamation occurred, and while he has technically filed an appeal, there is absolutely no chance of the ruling being overturned in Vic's favor.
  21. A bit of a slog to keep track of it, but basically, Vic currently owes at least $238k. Although he had filed an interlocutory appeal, it is still like to be dismissed, which would bring the total to nearly $380k, though it is also possible he may have to pay $525k. He must also pay $15,000 in sanctions, which are designed to discourage similar frivolous lawsuits. It would actually be better if Vic didn't attempt to appeal this further, because he'd basically just be throwing his money into the fire.
  22. Today's hearing has come and gone. Vic admits he has no evidence regarding tortious interference. Judge Chupp was apparently frustrated with all parties today, but he hopes to have his ruling finished by tomorrow.
  23. Ooh, the PS4 Kingdom Hearts collections are coming to Xbox One. Never been an Xbox player, but I'm happy to see that those who will finally get the whole series.

  24. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zhax51w3sig1lhz/2E3.pdf?dl=0 Looks like Vic's lawyers didn't pay the trial court clerk. Unless they do so in the next week, the interlocutory appeal will be dismissed for want of prosecution. There is really no way Vic can win this, is there?
