  2. Closure A whirl in the room and a rush of wind caused Kratos to turn around. Returning to the White Room, Kenpachi kept his head down. But it wasn't long before his name was belted out and he felt eyes on him. "KENPACHI!" Kratos barked. He didn't reply. Kratos stormed toward Kenpachi, his weapons drawn. "TRAITOR!" he screamed. Kenpachi raised his head, a smile on his face. "You're not wrong." There were no more words to be exchanged. No words could describe how Kratos felt. Nothing more could be said that could soothe his rage. Just moments ago, a heartfelt moment between family gave Kratos a feeling of relief. But seeing Kenpachi again, after what he had done, woke the old fire within Kratos. "Kratos! I'm sorry!" Kenpachi exclaimed while he braced Nozarashi from Kratos' twin blades. "Liar!" Kratos retorted. He kicked Kenpachi in the knee and broke his guard. Kenpachi fell to a knee and lost his grip on Nozarashi. He raised his head and found himself neck-blade with Kratos opposite him. "This is something you're used to, isn't it?" Kenpachi asked. Kratos slugged Kenpachi. "You don't get to be the victim, Kenpachi! Not until I kill you!" Kenpachi, however, couldn't allow that. "Not gonna happen," Kenpachi snarled, his reiatsu flaring to life again. "I made a promise, again. I won't break it this time." Kratos swung his blades this time, fully intending to kill Kenpachi. Kenpachi saw the strike coming and parried, then headbutted Kratos, causing him to stumble backward. Kratos recovered quickly and spat blood at Kenpachi's feet. "You'll break it. Just like you broke your promise to us, those boys, and Yachiru!" Kratos was engulfed in magical flame and charged at Kenpachi. Kenpachi charged back and swung Nozarashi overhead at Kratos. The blade that could cut through anything met the one thing it couldn't cut through: the Golden Fleece. Parrying the blow, Kratos threw an uppercut at Kenpachi and caused him to stumble. Then came a lashing of his blades down through Kenpachi's chest. Another spin and Kratos threw four more gashes through Kenpachi's torso, driving him backward. Kenpachi was bleeding profusely, but he was very resilient. Kratos' persistent quick attacks formed a pattern, and Kenpachi had begun to read it. Catching Kratos' chains mid-swing, Kenpachi pulled Kratos in and spun him around, capturing Kratos by the neck and wrapping him in his own chains. Kenpachi kicked Kratos' legs out and forced him to fall to his back. Then, Kenpachi held Nozarashi over Kratos and pointed it at his chest and began to push. Now, Kenpachi also intended to kill Kratos. It seemed neither of them would let this go. But Kratos had been in a similar situation before, and he was not ready to die. He seized either side of Nozarashi's blade and shoved it to his left, taking Kenpachi with it. Using Kenpachi's momentum, Kratos followed with a kick to Kenpachi's stomach and sent him flying into the air. Kenpachi righted himself quickly as Kratos stood, but hovered in the air and waited for Kratos to make a move. "You can't win, Kratos," Kenpachi said boldly. Kratos tightened his grip on his weapons. "You're the only one bleeding." Kenpachi placed both hands on Nozarashi's hilt, and space time began to warp around him. Kratos had felt this energy before. "Don't do it, Kenpachi!" Kenpachi remained silent, but his energy continued to climb. He was going to keep his last promise to Yachiru. He was going to do things right this time. "Kenpachi!" Kratos roared. "Bankai," Kenpachi replied. There was suddenly silence as Kenpachi's energy stopped climbing abruptly. Instead of unleashing his bankai, Kenpachi was met with a violent burst of energy that sent unbearable pain coursing through his body. He screamed in agony before falling back to the ground. His body was smoking, but Kenpachi was still conscious. "She... she said no," Kenpachi muttered Kratos kept his weapons drawn. "She? Yachiru?" Kenpachi grunted. "She still lives in this weapon, Kratos." "Then you owe it to her to never draw it against your allies again," Kratos snapped. "I'm not gonna let you kill me, you bastard," Kenpachi said as he stood to his feet. "You don't have a choice," Kratos replied.
  3. I can search and send banshee to grave on 5/6 opening hands. I don't think it would hurt to have a second in my side though. I think I have a ghost ogre lying around so I can splash it in somewhere. And funny enough, I traded for a Knightmare Phoenix last night. I'm not familiar with phantom knights but if they give me more allure targets and give the deck speed, I can definitely try the engine out. Thanks for your help.

  9. Grievances Kenpachi had returned to the White Room, but strangely, no one else was there. ... ... ... ... This wasn't the White Room. This was the wrong room. He turned left and right searching for a sign of anyone else. There was nothing to his west. Emptiness to the north. Loneliness in the east. Then, there came a bounding wind from the south, carrying cherry blossoms. "Head Captain," Byakuya called suddenly. Kenpachi turned around slowly. "It's good to see you, Kuchiki." Byakuya maintained his usual, stoic composure. "You've strayed from your path." Kenpachi remained silent. "You were once a man of pure, unswaying loyalty. Yet, you experienced loss and betrayed your comrades. It's unbecoming of you and unfitting of a man who holds the title that Genryuusai Yamamoto once held," Byakuya commented. "I'm nothing like him," Kenpachi retorted. "Clearly," Byakuya snapped back. "She gifted you great strength in her absence. She sacrificed for you, and you have desecrated that gift. How did your heart become so easily corrupted?" Kenpachi balled a fist. He quickly let it go. "To be honest, I don't know." Byakuya placed a hand on the hilt of his weapon. "That is the answer, Captain Commander. Because you do not know, you fell to the darkness." "Don't talk to me about turning to darkness, Kuchiki," Kenpachi growled. "You were dying in that castle, and you got desperate. You broke your loyalty, same as me." "You are correct," Byakuya said quickly. "Then why are you here right now preaching to me when you're already guilty?" Kenpachi asked. "I'm here to turn you back, Captain Commander. I refuse to allow you to stray any further," Byakuya said, his hand still on the hilt of his blade. Kenpachi scoffed. "Any path I choose is my path," he declared. "But..." Kenpachi said solemnly. "You're right. I gotta fix this." Byakuya rested his hands and lowered his guard. "You're already on the right track, Captain Commander." He turned on his heels, turning his back to Kenpachi, and vanished from plain sight. "Tch. Prideful bastard, even in death," Kenpachi said softly. "Kenny?" Yachiru called from Kenpachi's back. He turned around with a jolt. "Kid," he said solemnly. She sprinted toward him and Kenpachi stooped down. They embraced one another tightly, with Kenpachi's eyes welling up with tears. "Ah, Yachiru. I was sure I'd never see you again. When you died--ow!" She punched Kenpachi squarely in his head. A frown formed on Yachiru's lips. "Don't go killing me off so soon!" Kenpachi rubbed his head. "Huh?" "Don't you get it yet, Kenny? I'm your Zanpaktou spirit," she said as she bounced on her toes. "I'm not dead. I'm riiiiiiiiight here!" Yachiru said as she snatched Nozarashi from Kenpachi's back. "I hated to part from you, but I didn't want to see you go so soon. It took me a long time to learn to care for you, ya know." Kenpachi smiled. "So you're still here, huh?" Yachiru nodded with a big grin. Kenpachi's smile faded. "Then that means you saw everything, right?" Yachiru's smile faded as well. "I did." Kenpachi folded his arms. "I betrayed them. The Corps. Killua. Gon. They were all counting on me for my help." "And how do you intend to fix it?" Yachiru asked. Kenpachi scratched his head. "I don't think I can." Yachiru nodded. "That's step one." "Huh?" "Now, you need to let go," Yachiru continued. "Of what?" "Me. Those boys. Byakuya. You're tearing yourself apart because you haven't coped with the loss of your friends, whether they died by your hands or not. You can't let that pain tear you up and turn you to the darkness, Kenny," Yachiru stated. She stretched out her hands and returned Nozarashi to Kenpachi. As he received the Zanpaktou, Kenpachi held it lightly in his palms. "I can't get them to trust you again. But you can give yourself to the right cause, and go out swinging." Kenpachi gripped Nozarashi tightly now, before storing it on his back again. "You think if I throw myself at the enemy and die for my friends, they'll forgive me?" Yachiru shook her head. "No. But I think if you die trying to do the right thing, you'll learn to forgive yourself." She smiled at Kenpachi, who had just finished wiping his tears from his eyes. "Damn it, Yachiru. I miss you so much," Kenpachi admitted finally. She ran to hug him again and Kenpachi gladly accepted it. "Go, Kenny. You've got a lot of work to do," Yachiru said as she finally let go of Kenpachi. "I hope to see you again soon, kid," Kenpachi said as he stood up straight.

  14. Future Arthur finally settled in Kratos' vision as the White Room became clear. It was then that Kratos realized he wasn't speaking. Words couldn't form on his lips. But he could hear and understand everything Arthur was saying. But why now for Arthur appear to be so... important? The young man's aura filled Kratos' vision, and reminded him of something. "God's," Kratos heard Arthur swear. "All things considered, I need to tell you this if we don't get another chance." Kratos remained silent. "You're... you're my family, Kratos," Arthur said at last. A stir of never before seen images suddenly flashed before Kratos' eyes. The world was engulfed by flames. And at it's center, a pale figure wielding a mighty sword stood. It was Kratos. He gasped harshly, suddenly falling to a knee. The weapon he saw... it was the Blade. He couldn't be trusted with this kind of power. And if Kratos sought the future to change, he had to entrust it to someone else. He stood finally, taking a deep breath. That's why Arthur was here now, wasn't it? Who was it that laid this path before Kratos? Who had written this destiny into action? "... Boy," Kratos said finally. "You're one of them aren't you? A god." Kratos' words were, surprisingly, innocent. "It seems, no matter what lands I travel to, I cannot escape my past. Perhaps that is why you're here before me. The gods and their kin... they follow me." Kratos was smiling. "I understand now," Kratos admitted. His father had set him free. Now he had to set himself free. "I have been bound by my sins of my own accord. I have chosen to live as a monster. I have chosen to live as a slave to my past." Kratos outstretched both his hands with the Blade of Promise toward Arthur. "No more." Kratos' words were honest. "Arthur. You are here for a reason. And I believe that entrusting you with this power is best for both my universe and yours." Whether or not Arthur would reach out to take the Blade was unimportant. As Kratos' hands stretched out, the Blade hummed once again. It loftily floated out of Kratos' hands and hovered inches away, upright, from Arthur's face. And now, a different weapon took it's place in Kratos' palms. A sheer cold ran up his palms and took the shape of the axe from his visions. This was the Leviathan Axe. "Arthur," Kratos began. "Will you aid me in securing the future?"
  15. Hope Kratos settled in the White Room, trying to allow his mind to adjust to the things he had just witnessed from his past and potential future. Though, potential was the wrong word now. He had chosen the future over the past, but he still wasn't sure of exactly what waited for him. From his back, Kratos drew the Blade of Promise. It hummed in his hands, softly at first, until Kratos held it out before himself. The weapon glowed a bright light, causing a shadow to etch it's way through the White Room, to the other side. Inside the shadow of the Blade, an image of a young man took shape. Kratos lowered the Blade from his face and stared into the light and shadow. He recognized the young man before him. He could almost place his name. "Atr--." Kratos found himself unable to speak the name. Perhaps it wasn't right. "... Arthur?"

  18. Banner by Yui Greetings children of mine. General Information Not long ago you may have heard me mention a desire to bring to life a role-play based on the series of "Persona". For those of you who don't know about "Persona", I've provided a link to a simple Wikipedia article of the series. For those of you who are familiar with the Persona series, I'd like to share my intentions with you while we discuss a plot direction for the RP. As of this moment, I've decided that I'd like the timeline of this RP to be closer to "Persona 4" and "Persona 5". This would, of course, be a separate, non-canon story that has no direct correlation to the actual series, other than sharing Personas, arcana, and access to the "Velvet Room". Players I would like for this RP to be filled with a small cast, and I'm aiming for no more than eight total players including myself. This number is subject to change, but as of right now, that is my ideal number of players. For those of you who are concerned about using each of the arcana to their full potential, the rest of the arcana not used by players will be covered by NPCs which I will create. Personas I'm sure that a number of those of you who would be interested in a "Persona" based RP are already familiar with some of the Personas. These Personas are based on different deities of different religions around the world. They include but are not limited to, Messiah, Satan, Lucifer, Vishnu, Orpheus, Quetzalcoatl, and many more. I would like to branch away from these familiar Personas (but not entirely). My goal is to use new or never-before-seen gods in the series, such as Wukong or Shango. Aligning these new and unfamiliar Personas with appropriate arcana will be the most challenging. I'll try to find any direct relation they have to the arcana, but if I cannot, we'll probably wing it. An example I shared with some possible new players was that of Wukong. I have no idea if Wukong already has an aligned arcana. If I can't find anything about his arcana, I'd either align him to Chariot or Strength. Again, this is just an example. Ryuji >:/ The following is a list of resources to Personas that have been used in Personas 1 - 5: P1 P2 | P2 P3 P4 P5 While it is not mandatory to create a new Persona, it would be awesome to see you all bring that of your own Personas (gods that haven't been used in the game) to life. If you are struggling to choose a god from outside of the Persona series, PM me with a Persona you have interest in using and we'll discuss it. As a note: Messiah, Thanatos, Satan, Lucifer, Satanael, Orpheus, and Izanagi will be prohibited from use by players. This list may expand, but for now, players cannot use those Personas. Combat Combat will be turn-based. Per our official Persona: Philosophy of Man Discord, basic combat between players and shadows will be held in the dedicated #ic-combat channel. Combat will then be relayed to the IC thread in a single post. Who relays this post will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Exceptions to this include: Unique Encounters Boss Battles The following elements will be included in combat: Physical Gun Fire Ice Electric Wind Psy Nuke Bless Curse Almighty *Almighty damage will be disabled for the duration of the early game of the RP. It will become available later as the RP progresses. Elements and Their Counterparts Each element--excluding Almighty--has an opposite to which it is considered weak to. Below is a list of the elements and what is considered to be their weakness. Physical - N/A Gun - N/A Fire - weak to Ice Ice - weak to Fire Electric - weak to Wind Wind - weak to Electric Psy - weak to Nuke Nuke - weak to Psy Bless - weak to Curse Curse - weak to Bless Almighty - N/A Not all Personas who use an element (Ice for example) will always be affected by their weakness. Some Personas may inherit passive abilities which evade, resist, repel, drain, or nullify their weaknesses. Be prepared to work around this in combat. Skills and Leveling Player characters will not gain levels. Instead, only player Personas will level. Player Personas will start at level one and will have three skill slots and three skills available to choose from the provided table. All player Personas will level at the exact same time. Player Personas will gain a skill slot(s) at designated levels, and new skills will become available as Personas reach new thresholds. Player Personas will gain skill slots in the following manner: At level 10, player Personas will gain 1 additional skill slot, totaling 4. At level 20, player Personas will gain 2 additional skill slots, totaling 6. At level 30, player Personas will gain 1 additional skill slot, totaling 7. At level 40, player Personas will gain 2 additional skill slots, totaling 9. At level 50, player Personas will gain 1 additional skill slots, unlocking all available skill slots. Stat Growth All stat points at level 1 have a value of 5. Stat point values will increase as players level up and reach certain thresholds. At level 10, Player Stat Points will have a value of +10. At level 20, Player Stat Points will have a value of +15. At level 30, Player Stat Points will have a value of +30. At level 40, Player Stat Points will have a value of +40. At level 50, Player Stat Points will cap, and have a value of +50. All players will have a base HP of 200 and a base SP of 150. If a skill point is not allocated to a stat, players will automatically receive the minimum possible bonus Stat Point reward to that skill. (5, 10, 15, 30, 40, or 50.) Maximum HP can be increased by allocating points to Endurance. Maximum SP can be increased by allocating points to Magic (will also increase ability damage). Maximum Attack can be increased by allocating points to Strength. Maximum Speed can be increased by allocating points to Agility. Maximum Critical Hit Chance can be increased by allocating points to Luck. Available Level 1 Skills All skills have a chance to miss their targets. This is rare, and unless there is another condition that increases those odds of skills missing, they will hit most of the time. Ailments, Combat, Critical Hits, Technical Hits, Weaknesses, "1 More", and All Out Attacks Ailments are negative status effects that can be inflicted on friends or foes. Ailments last up to 3 turns and will be automatically cleared on the third turn after they are applied (this includes the first turn it is initially applied). Ailments are as follows: Burn - Light passive damage to an enemy or ally at the end of their turn until cleared by skill or timer. Frozen - Afflicted target cannot move until hit with a physical or fire ability, or until frozen clears by skill or timer. Shock - Afflicted target cannot move until hit with a physical ability or until shock clears by skill or timer. Confuse - Afflicted target may harm itself or its allies. Cannot be cleared except by skill or timer. Brainwash - Afflicted target may heal enemies. Despair - Afflicted target cannot move. Cannot be cleared except by skill. If not cleared by skill, afflicted target will die on the third turn of affliction. Rage - Cannot attack except with auto-attacks. Cannot be cleared except by skill or timer. Fear - Afflicted target has a chance to not be able to move during their turn. Cannot be cleared except by skill or timer. Sleep - Afflicted target cannot move but recovers medium amounts of health at the end of their turn. Cannot be cleared except by skill or timer. Hunger - Afflicted target has lowered attack power for three turns. Cannot be cleared except by skill or timer. Technical hits are applied when a friend or foe is afflicted with an ailment and an auto-attack, physical attack, or skill damages the afflicted target. This causes the next applied attack to inflict 1.5x more damage to the afflicted target, but cures their affliction. Technical hits can only be applied to targets afflicted with the following ailments: Frozen Shock Burn (Psy and Nuclear damage only) Sleep Combat will be played through the #ic-combat channel in our dedicated discord channel. Once combat is complete, one or more players will relay the combat information in their own words in their own post(s). Critical Hits will automatically incapacitate an enemy or ally, giving the attacker a "1 more" (a second attack). Critical hits are random but can be applied by gunfire, auto-attacks, or skills. If an enemy has a weakness to a Persona skill, they will automatically be incapacitated and give the attacker a "1 more". If/when all enemies in a battle are incapacitated, players can inflict grave damage to enemies with an All Out Attack. All Out Attacks can be used at the cost of all current player turns. Players can opt to inflict grave damage to their enemies. Most times, this will kill the enemy. This excludes bosses. To determine the success rate of critical hits, a coin will be flipped using a dedicated bot in the #ic-combat channel. A heads is a successful crit and a tails is base damage (if applicable). Abilities with naturally high critical hit rate (see Lucky Punch) will automatically grant players 3 additional coin flips. Every 5 points in the Luck stat grants one coin flip (maximum 5 before high critical hit rate skills). Note: There will be some Special Boss Ailments that cannot be cleared except through timer. These will be explained in their appropriate battles. The Arcana The Arcana will be represented by players and NPCs. A player may only have one Arcana, but they may of course form bonds with other players who have a different Arcana. Typically, the Fool Arcana is represented by the protagonist. For a little twist, I would like the protagonist to be an NPC with whom every player can interact, and they will choose whether or not to form a bond with the Fool. For those of you who are not aware, here is a list of the Arcana. The World will not be available to players and will not show up for a very, very long time. It may not show up at all, depending on the path the players take. Player Arcana will be assigned by myself. Your assigned Arcana will be given based on your character's personality and biography. Arcana will give unique bonuses (both combat and non-combat related) as Personas grow over time. Players may receive additional bonuses after forming bonds with other players and NPCs and their assigned Arcana. Those bonuses will be revealed as they are acquired. The Arcana Advancing Time Time, in Persona, is very precious. Time off is among the most important for players. As such, I will indicate time changes in all of my posts. They will include (from a fake calendar) the month, day, time of day (early morning, daytime, afternoon, evening, late night). There will be very few times where time skips occur. At the most, time skips will only include up to three in-game days. If there is no time change, I will indicate that as well in my post. I will post it at both the top and bottom of my posts. Decision Making This rp will have three paths. I will not indicate which path is which. Please remember that most all of the actions that you, the player, takes will have an effect on the course of the rp. From the bonds you form to the enemies you take down, everything will play a part in how the story develops. Choose wisely. Furthermore, for newly developing confidants (if and when you find them), I will create some questionnaires with multiple choice answers so that you as a team can decide which path to take. This is subject to change, and we can discuss whether this is a turn off for players or not. This is a traditional occurrence in the Persona series, but if players feel it is more of a hindrance, we can discuss our options. Personally, I am looking forward to creating the questionnaires to see how players respond to NPCs and confidants. I'd like to start the RP sometime after the New Year, but preferably before the 20th of January. That's the time school lets in for me and I'd like for the RP to be open by that point. That gives us a little less than a month to work together to get this thing rolling. I do have a basic plot in mind, but, of course, it does come down to "world ruin". I purposefully leave things vague because spoilers suck. Plot (New Orleans, Louisiana) A world beneath the world. It exists but for one purpose: to influence mankind. Their hearts, their minds, their actions; all of these things are controlled by the Substitute Plain. Why? What grand authority exists to determine mankind's future? For what purpose have they allowed affliction to trouble the many and benefit the few? For what reason does the shallow, weak will of man fall into the hands of those unseen? Journey into the unknown to discover who--or what--lies beneath, and save your world. Please do not copy the information in the parenthesis onto your submitted application.   20. Good morning. Can someone explain to me Silver Eyes Azure Dragon and it's destruction effect of used to summon Crystal Wing?

      Silver Eyes Azure Dragon allows you to tribute it to summon a light Dragon Synchro from your extra deck, but it has to be destroyed during the end phase.

      Crystal Wing meets the summoning requirements. But Crystal Wing also lets you negate the effect of a monster when activated. I'm wondering if Crystal Wing is able to keep itself from being destroyed if it activates its effect to negate the destruction of itself by Silver Eyes.

      I think you mean Blue Eyes Spirit Dragon, right? Silver Eyes Azure Dragon has another effect entirely... Also, Crystal Wing is a WIND monster, not LIGHT, so it's not a valid target for the effect. Even if it were LIGHT, I'm not sure it would be able to negate the effect, as BESD is no longer on the field and would have probably already resolved (think "Into The Void" which forces you to discard your entire hand at the End Phase, despite the card itself not being on the field).
