I'll think for a moment and say, "well, he could either be part of the casino or some like, fish selling tycoon." Thinking more I'll joke, "or maybe he's just really lucky and won it big and is showing off."

"All right all right. Berserker. Spoilsport," I mutter without any malice. "Speaking of Servants and stuff though, I hope Archer's all right. Haven't seen them in a while."

I follow the others to the house and then think for a bit. "Now what?" I whisper. "Should we see if we can sneak closer?" I hum the Pink Panther theme inside my head.

I was lost in thought as I processed the info Archer gave me. So much so I almost missed the others about to leave. "Oh yeah, guys, important update," I call out. "There's a house in a graveyard that seems abandoned, but a mage is setting up shop there. Also, Archer's stuck in a binding trap at said house. In fact, lemme take care of that," I raise my hand, sighing that I had to use a Command Seal, but I didn't want Archer to get caught now. One Command Seal now to save too many headaches in the future."By my Command Seal, I order you Archer to come by my side!"

When we got to the house, I considered Berserker's master's words. "Hmm... I don't think we can just sneak up... But I might be able to sneak in," I say. "You all want to take that chance?"

Command Seals Remaining: 2

archer.png

"By your order, my Master!" With the power of a Command Seal backing him up, Archer was able to escape from the trap, darting back across the graveyard and slums at speeds any Servant would normally have trouble competing with. It wasn't long at all before the two of you were reunited, allowing Archer to take a look at the house you've uncovered. Just in time for him to push the group's heads further down into the bushes, the door opening only very briefly afterward. One, two... only two shambling thugs left this time. Moreover, these ones seemed a bit taller than the group you've been tailing. Must have been different people.

caster.pngberserker.png

"If it's a stealth operation, I'm afraid I won't be of much use on such short notice. But if all that house has in store are some lifeless puppets and their master, surely Berserker here can take them down if you get caught and we have to come barging in to save you." More than the house though, Caster seemed interested in the goons coming in and out of it. He watched their movements and the way they behaved, seeming to think really hard about something.

"...maybe? I could make that work, surely."

And in a stark contrast to the other two Servants assembled here, Berserker's attention seemed to be somewhere else entirely. Not on the house, or the people associated with it. No, her attention was firmly in the direction Archer had arrived from. "Sneaking... is good."

"Winning it big sure sounds nice. There's a lot one can accomplish with money in this day and age, so something like winning the lottery can really be a life-changer! But people should be careful not to let that wealth get to their heads." Assassin paused for a bit, as if thinking what she could do with such a stroke of fortune. Whatever it was, it didn't take long for her to shrug it off. "Still, something about that man was bothering me."

They're still here. Both of them.

Carried along by your Servants, the two of you return to the not-so-abandoned-anymore house in the graveyard. You check the specific trap that set off your "alarm" for who was here, but... it seems they've escaped. "Looks like we've got an escape artist on our hands," Lancer comments. "Still, it'd have to be someone pretty damn strong to break out of this trap, right? What do the rest of you think?"

"Perhaps Berserker got caught in this trap," Saber mused. "Although, the house seems rather undamaged. Something like a Berserker wriggling out of a trap wouldn't look this clean, I suppose."

They're gone now, Master.

"Investigating weirdos is pretty fun," Assassin smiles. Suddenly, an idea came to mind. "We may even find clues about that bank robbery along the way! I bet if we hurry, we can catch up with that car and see where he goes."

"No... nothing. Not yet."

"Good luck, Master of Archer!" Caster - already collecting odds and ends from his surroundings - seems quite eager for the two of you to head in and check the place out. A move which Archer leads the way on.

"Remember Master, we're just scoping the place out. Probably. Now that we're right here, I can't sense any Servants, but stay on your toes." You and Archer sneak around to the back, and find a back door. Archer opens it carefully and peeks inside with equal caution. Coast is clear. Whoever's holed up in here should invest in some air fresheners. Archer creeps inside the building, looking around for anyone with a pulse. And find one he did.

Found our mystery mage, Master. Looks like we've found one of those gang bosses Hifumi told us about.

"Perfect, perfect," I mutter as I prepare my magic. "Okay, Archer, go into spirit form, but stick close in case things go wrong," I comment as I run my fingers through my hair.

I close my eyes, imagining a key turning the ignition of a car, starting up my magic. My form began to shift and change, making me the spitting image of Hifumi. I mutter a few words, making sure my voice was just right before I head to the boss.

"Yo, Cordula!" I call out in Hifumi's voice. "We got a big problem, and we need to talk,"

Tailing the car was no simple task, and most of the work on it had to be left to Assassin's skills, but she was able to at least track down its general location. A district of the city full of bright lights, fortunes being made and lost in the blink of an eye, and all manner of entertainment. From the casinos to the clubs to the theaters, there was truly no shortage of things to check out here. Alas, the car you'd been tracking was one Assassin had finally lost track of in this bustling corner of town.

Even excluding the car you were tracking down, there seems to be no shortage of things to do here. Gambling, drinking, and even a rather unpleasant-looking confrontation between a few men in suits and a middle-aged couple down that alley over there. Or you could always, you know, keep looking for the car and its owner.

lancer.pngsaber.png

"A Servant indeed. I'm not as magically-inclined as some other classes, but let's think about it tactically."

"Tactically?"

"M-hm. Either our mystery Servant knew you and your Master are holed up here, or they didn't. If they knew, we should assume they have allies; storming an enemy's lair alone is a job best left for suicidal idiots. Or spies." Tapping on the window frame with his knuckles, Lancer continued "But a good spy would have checked for precisely this kind of trap before going in. If you're a spy, you don't get into the Throne of Heroes by being bad at it."

"I would appreciate being spared the lecture, Lancer. Get to the point."

"Point is, the best-case scenario is somebody knows you live here now, but we have no way of knowing if it's just one somebody. At the very least, I'm picking up enough mana around here that there's no way it was just a Servant. Somebody's used a Command Seal. Whoever got stuck in here, their Master wanted them out, and fast. But with only one trap seeming to be set off, we at least know only one person was here. It's just a matter of if they've got friends."

Lancer may have a point, Master. If this window was the only point others entered from, there being more than one Servant present at the time seems unlikely, but we should be cautious for possible allies of our mystery guest.

Archer heeds your command, dematerializing as you change your form into that of the Wild Hounds leader. You make sure you've got the voice just right before heading in and addressing the leader of the Zero Clan.

Cordula_Bachmayer.jpg

"Tell me about it," Cordula sighed. "Cops on one side, Thunderheads on the other, and if that ain't enough, I think I got caught in the act last night. Not to mention your mutts chewing up a few of my men not too long ago." Somehow, by her tone of voice, it seemed like whatever had happened between Cordula's men and Hifumi's dogs was the least of her concerns. "But a live, in-the-flesh visit, without any planning or announcement? Big problem, indeed. Out with it, then; what's so dire that you had to drop in like this?"

And lastly, an announcement from your friendly neighborhood officiator. I'm considering putting up a Discord server for the Holy Grail War (and any future ones I host (there will be more)) so that y'all can discuss the happenings of this thing - preferably without metagaming because that's for lame cheaters - and/or have a more accessible and universal place to yell at me for routinely forgetting about this thread for weeks at a time. I'd like everyone's thoughts on this idea. Spectators who aren't Masters but are interested in watching how all this unfolds would also be welcome.

Also, I changed the color of Rider's text because using and reading it was a pain in the ass because I use the spectrum theme. Because that's the best theme.

Additionally pinging @Blake because it's been a while since you've posted here and also because I want your feedback on this as well, and since I didn't quote you in this post, pinging you seems like the next best option.

I'm neutral on it. Though I think a Discord chat would've been more useful at the start of all of this rather than now, tbh. You could also just make a general Fate discord chat for people who want to discuss the games/anime/etc.

"If they return, that is," Lancer interjects. "A combination of myself and a Saber-class Servant should be more than a match for whoever we may be facing off with, but erring on the side of caution until we know whether or not our guest has friends would be wise. You don't win a war by rushing headlong into an enemy you don't know anything about."

"Holy Grail War, Holy Grail War..." Cordula paused, seemingly racking any and all corners of her mind trying to remember what that even was. "Oh! That thing! So, what am I supposed to do about that besides tighten up security around here? Unless you're here to offer some sort of alliance, there isn't really anything I can do about a Holy Grail War for you."

"Now that's what I like to hear! I'm sure one of these other Masters or Servants fancies themselves some kind of hero, so drawing them out is easy stuff. We just need a little bit of prep time, some materials I'm sure we can find somewhere, and the chutzpah to make some headlines. Here's the idea." Or at least, here would have been the idea. As you and Rider stroll down the street, discussing plans, you're suddenly met with a sight. What looks like a group of men belonging to the same mafia that you met earlier, harrassing a rather ordinary-looking couple. Along with a couple other spectators. Rider briefly eyed the girl of the two spectators, curious about... something.

Is she... nah. Must be getting antsy. Could've sworn I picked something up from that girl.

"You out here for the scenery or something?" Rider asked.

"W-Why, yes! This sure is a lovely part of town, isn't it?" she asked, while her companion seemed to be occupied asking the fellows down the alley about something. "All these bright lights and tall buildings. Really grabs your attention!"

"It sure is! You and your friend over there tourists or something? I hear the docks are pretty popular for sightseers too."

You see, Master? Easy bait. We'll go over the plan after I've chatted up the tourists.

I'll remain in sight for now. Disappearing at this moment may seem suspicious, and my Presence Concealment should still prevent other Servants from detecting me. It wasn't an additional reason she wanted to add, but in her mind, staying present in a visible sense would make a violent confrontation less likely. More witnesses and all. She stayed back some, watching intently as you head down the alley to interrupt whatever was going on there. An interruption the suited men seem none too happy about, but the couple met with them had a clear look of relief on their face as their attention turned toward you.

"Just based on their car?" one of the men - head shaven quite cleanly bar the goatee on his chin - asked. "What are we, the damned DMV!?" Only to receive an elbow in the side from his companion.

"Excuse him." The other man seemed quite a bit older, with long smooth hair starting to go gray. "Long work hours have been getting to him lately. I'm afraid there's a lot of cars that go through this part of town. You'll have to be pretty specific. Not one of those black SUVs that have been going about, I hope. Nothing but trouble, chasing those things down."

Master. Lady luck must not be on our side today. I've identified the presence of another Servant. More importantly, he's...

"You out here for the scenery or something?"

"W-Why, yes! This sure is a lovely part of town, isn't it? All these bright lights and tall buildings. Really grabs your attention!"

"It sure is! You and your friend over there tourists or something? I hear the docks are pretty popular for sightseers too."

"Oh okay," I decide not to correct Berserker on the whole south/slang thing. "I wonder...do you think Archer and his master need backup?"

I'm neutral on it. Though I think a Discord chat would've been more useful at the start of all of this rather than now, tbh. You could also just make a general Fate discord chat for people who want to discuss the games/anime/etc.

"All is... well. With Archer and his Master." Berserker's attention went to the house again. But only for a moment, before it darted back in the direction it had been before. "Lan... cer?"

After watching Archer and his master enter, follow after berserker for the time being, consulting Caster for what options he thinks we should take, as well as how he believes we should handle the situation at hand.

"Well, if I were a mysterious necromancer, I would need corpses for my craft of course. And I do believe that's something we can supply our host with. What say we cause a bit of mayhem and wanton death, and bring them the bodies as a peace offering? After Archer's Master has finished whatever he's doing in there, of course. That, or we could go investigate whatever Berserker is so occupied with more directly. All seems well in that little shack, after all. And if all's not well and he dies a horrible death... well, that's how the cookie crumbles, I suppose."

"Oh, tofu? I didn't take you for the type. Fine, I'll see what I can do. Tofu for you, tuna for Felix, and then whatever else grabs my attention. I'm sure our friendly B and E friend won't just leave this place be. If they return before we get back you be sure to keep them busy till we get back."

>waves, heads for the door, intent to go get food.

"Oh and don't hurt my cat."
