  2. "Wonderful, this group seems like it's gonna work together perfectly!" Maddy clapped her hands together and smiled, "We have some people who seem like natural pairs, and others that seem like they fill similar roles... Don't you think, Major?" Maddy tilted her head back ever so slightly as the door behind her opened once again, Nika stepping through it. She wore a scowl as she approached the table, taking a seat next to the captain. "I see you've already met Captain Macha. I am Major Nika Volkov, your commanding officer. You will address me exclusively as Major or Major Volkov... And you shouldn't be so quick to trust." Nika cast a side eye at Maddy, who giggled in response, "As a rule of thumb, other people cannot see it before you let them. It's an ace in the hole. Yet, here you are, telling everyone your Id. This was a test, and you all have failed." Raising a hand to her face to rub the bridge of her nose, Nika sighed, Maddy smiling all the while. "Partial credit to those who gave partial information. Of course, none you have been trained to conceal your information at this point, and I'm sure those nosy recruiters weren't much help in learning proper behavior, either..." "Sorry about that, everyone. We already know your Ids, as well as lots of personal information about each of you, but... Y'know, this is what the Major wanted, so I had to comply." Nika shot Maddy another look as the blonde bonked herself on the head and stuck her tongue out playfully. With another sigh from Nika, she took the reins once more. "Seeing as the pleasantries are out of the way, we're going to cut to the chase. While Captain Macha is correct about our information, we would like to see it first hand. As such, we will be holding aptitude tests. You may opt for either a sparring match that I will oversee... or receive an inspection in the infirmary with Captain Macha, whichever you think you are more capable of performing in. After all, not all Id are meant for combat, so do not push yourself to be what you cannot be." Nika's voice seemed hard as she spoke, casting her icy gaze over every member of the group, though it seemed to linger slightly longer on some than others. "The time is currently 8:45. You are to report to either the infirmary or the training hall by no later than 9:00. You should have been provided a map when you arrived, and I trust you kept it on you. Tie up any loose ends with conversations or breakfast, and then come find one of us. Do I make myself clear?" When she had received her response, Nika stood up and turned away in one fluid motion, taking her leave. Maddy looked after her friend, shaking her head slightly, before turning back to the group. "Despite her cold demeanor, she really is just concerned for everyone's well-being. It's a lot to manage a branch like this, after all. So just have a little fun for now, and make sure you've reported on time! Don't wanna be tardy on your first day! I'll see whoever comes to the infirmary~" With that, Maddy left in a similar fashion to Nika, though not without waving to the group as she walked out the door. The recruits were left to their own devices, gathered around a single table for the first time, alone with their thoughts and one another.

  5. Well, I'm pretty much a homebody... But I work at (the deli of) a grocery store, so I don't exactly get to stay home. Spending time with my wonderful GFs, hanging out on discord, and working on a project that's been on/off for years. Also trying to find the determination to finally learn how to code games and/or make music, but I always fall short of convincing myself.
  6. I'm really trying to think of how to phrase this, because I really don't want to sound condescending, dismissive, or anything like that... I just... wanna know if you're okay? I know you were going through a lot, and while I saw your post in the retrospective thread, I kinda just wanted to ask you that question because I know it can help people to try and sound things out. I dunno. If it's too personal, feel free to skip ^^;
  7. Bramimond is finally playable. And causing me to realize some stuff about kid me.

  8. "Alright, see how much better that went?" Charlie asked David with a smile as they packed their deck back up, extending for a shake again, "Now, just try and play with the trepidation in mind as you practice. It's not going to be a perfect fix, especially if you choreograph too much... but it's a good start!" Before the boy could respond to his captain, the duel suddenly drew to a close? Charlie hadn't been paying as much attention as they were foxued on instructing David, but... "don't surrender next time. There has to be something in your deck that can destroy a big monster like that. And you! stop being so timid. And remember what your cards do." Looking to everyone else she said, "hey! How're your duels going?" "Ah, we just wrapped up, Miss~" Charlie waved back, a big smile on their face, "And don't be too hard on our new recruit! She did her best in that duel, you can't expect too much too soon. A gentle, loving approach works better than yelling, right, David?" Charlie glanced back to their junior, a smile spelling out just how oblivious they were to how much they had curbstomped David to get the lesson through. After all, all's well that ends well, right?
  9. After watching Archer and his master enter, follow after berserker for the time being, consulting Caster for what options he thinks we should take, as well as how he believes we should handle the situation at hand. ---- discord sounds fine tbh, makes it less difficulkt to forget
  10. "I'm glad you two figured out what I was mimin' there. Frankly, I'm shit at that kinda shit," Zirco turned to Shannon and explained himself, before beginning to push his motorcycle along. "I can't say you're good at it, no. I needed some help, myself. And that man truly is a boor. How on earth can someone like him be so highly esteemed? Raw power can't be enough to captivate hearts." Shannon glanced over her shoulder to see the pair of riders disappear on the horizon, just as she and Zirco arrived at the warehouse. Curiously, the door was unlocked, and led to only pitch darkness. Even shining headlights into it made no change. "That... that doesn't seem right... What the hell...?" "How curious... Should we enter?" Shannon mused to mostly herself, though Luster seemed to hang over her shoulder, staring at it intently. However, she was oblivious to her spirit, turning back to Zirco, "Ladies first, I suppose?"
  11. -April 15th, 2000- -8 AM- -Diluculo Branch 22, New York City, New York- A woman with short brown hair stared out a window, looking at a massive building across the way. After taking a sip from a thermos, a knock on the door to her office drew her attention. “Enter.” “Good morning, Nika!” came a chipper, distinctly American voice from the door, quickly followed by a fairly tall blonde woman popping in, a grin stretched from one ear to the other, “Today's the day!" “Captain Mathilde, I’ve told you, it’s Major and… Why do I bother?” The first woman, Nika, replied with a slight Russian accent. She sighed as she sat her drink down on her desk, “Just… promise to address me properly in front of the new recruits, Maddy. Are they all already here?” “Come now, you know I never slip~” Maddy teased, holding the big grin, her blue eyes shining with mischief as she looked up at the taller woman, “But yes, all eight of our newbies are in the mess hall, eating breakfast. I know they receive some military training before the higher-ups send them this way, but I still didn’t expect them to be so early!” “Perhaps we were lucky enough to be sent a good batch. More likely, we just so happened to get a group that listens to orders.” Nika reached down to one of the drawers on her desk, opening it to pull out a manilla envelope. Producing one page at a time, she placed them across her desk, giving them a once-over. “After all, it appears a number of them don’t possess particularly… shining talents.” “Oh, come now! We aren’t so spectacular either, Nika!” “Maybe not in terms of flashiness… But it’s hard to argue with results. Speaking of results, it seems like people ease in more quickly when you do the introductions… So, can I trust you to do it?” “Aww, you know just how to butter me up,” The blonde giggled, before heading back to the door of the room, casting a glance over her shoulder, “Though it won’t do for their Major to not report on time, would it?” “Don’t worry about me. Worry about them.” Nika turned back to the window as the door closed, picking up her thermos again. Taking a sip of the black coffee within, she let out a soft sigh. “You would think that the strongest recruits would be stationed this close to the United Nations… But what do I know? I’m no politician.” ----- -April 15th, 2000- -8:15 AM- -Dining Hall, Diluculo Branch 22- “Gooood morning!” No sooner had the words left Maddy’s mouth than the door burst open, making a spectacle of herself to the recruits seated around the large room. “Come now, come now, let’s all share a table! After all, it’s easier to do roll call that way, hm?” The American grabbed a chair one of the twelve seats at the large rectangular table that sat in the center of the cafeteria, making herself comfortable before continuing, “I am Captain Mathilde Macha, born in Seattle, Washington, here in the USA. My Id, Scope Sight, means that I can see far away things very, very well. The Major will be joining us shortly, but since you all arrived early, we can use this as a chance to learn about each other!” ----- OOC
  12. Either is fine. As for the others, gonna try to mini-review a couple things on discord later today.
  13. Safety Dance

  14. Sergei fits well enough in, and my only major gripe with the app is that his Id may be a little bit too potent, over all. Seconds to heal a broken bone is pretty strong for so early into the era of Id, so maybe make it closer to a minute. Maybe 30 seconds is fine. Even so, the idea that he can go full scrub with it seems a bit much for me, overall. That said, I appreciate that we have a tank so early on. It's a good niche to carve out. Austin seems about in order, though I do question the... choice of weapon. However, I think it's fine to start there. I just doubt it stays there, with time. Id is fine, considering I helped you with the balancing points. He seems like he makes more sense as a support than a DPS, but if he wants to try and DPS, it's his to try. Mmm... Her image is broken, but otherwise I like her a lot. The Id is a different way of tackling empaths, and I'm excited to see where it takes her. Personality, bio, and all seem in order, so as long as you fix her image, seems solid. And she's a more genuine support than Austin. Extra points for the great Id name! If both Ann and Austin make it in, it seems like their Ids could be used to help one another out. Seems great, overall. We already discussed the in-story limits of Cade's Id, and I can see a number of inspirations in the character. Definitely feels like support, too. Host's note: BREE INSISTS THAT CADE IS DPS. A nitpick, but it reads a little choppy... like, the prose just doesn't have great flow. Not the biggest crime, just a minor thing. As for the character, Diana should work out decently. I'll have to rely on you to not abuse her Id too wildly. It's a powerful ability, which is very easy to cheat with. It can work, but it depends on you to keep it in check, should I accept your app. Seems like she can perform support well, but I don't think she can defend herself well with just a cane, as-is. We'd see where it went. Worst thing I can say about it is that the Id feels a little unbalanced to me. Not sure if it's slightly under or over, but it's not too much, either way. I think this is a solid app to lead with, and I'm excited to see the other three as well, so that I can gauge which one I like most. And hey, someone that's actually DPS! Oh, and more bonus points for solid naming. Honestly, there are parts of his personality that feel like they conflict. Being coolheaded enough to solve when things go wrong, but also flies into a rage if things go wrong via disagreement? That just doesn't... make much sense, at least to me. And as a nitpick, it doesn't really make sense why he was contacted. He never made a spectacle out of his Id in any way, it just... happened, and it's fairly inconsequential to his biography. More just a bridge to get him into Diluculo. Especially because his Id feels the most disconnected from his desire. If it appeared after his dream, then it makes some sense... But it sounds like it appeared just before the dream, which just feels ????. Solid name for the Id, tho. Seems like he's another tank. Seems mostly in order. My biggest nitpick is how quickly Diluculo got there after she used her ability, considering her parents were still unconscious. I'm also not sure how I feel about it being used offensively. I'm also curious about how it activates. Does she need to touch someone to use it? Or does it just happen when she wills it to, contact or otherwise? I don't hate the idea, but I would like a bit more detail, and maybe a sort of limit on the draining.
  15. Charlie nodded along as they listened to David, casting the occasional glance to Terry and Hana's match. It was about what they expected it to be, other than the surprising Xyz Summon, so most of their attention remained on David, until he finally asked for their opinion. "...so allow me to ask a query: am I just to hold back on the effects and skills of my monsters instead of just using them right out the gate?" "That's correct! Of course, there's such a thing as having too much trepidation when to use your effects... Or even being too greedy with the timing. But, let's say I activate Polymerization. You know that Tiger can destroy your board, so unless you have a way to stop it, you probably don't want it to resolve. Which is fair. But it's also likely that I could have another copy, so is Polymerization the best hit? 'If they have it, they have it' is a phrase that you seem to take too much to heart... But how about this time," Charlie placed their deck back down, drawing a new hand and smiling, "You see what happens if you wait until... let's say even a single opportunity later?"
  16. can I stop being sick already

  17. Alrighty! Due to the interest that has been shown + people who have joined the discord, this is now officially an OOC, app, database, and all! The discord and database are now linked in the OP, so make sure to consult the database as you work on your app! I would give an estimate of how many I'm accepting, but I'm still deciding on the best number. Good luck to everyone!
  18. On the cusp of a new millenium, the world as we knew it prepared for the year 2000. Some looked forward to the beginning of the 21st century, others were absolutely certain that Y2K would be the end of it. The world was full of hopes, prayers, dreams, wishes, and, most of all, uncertainty. After all, it’s not often that the world is either entering a great new chapter or ending! At that time, the world at large was not aware of how much power their desires truly had. After all, youth around the globe had begun to awaken abilities beyond that of a normal human. Most of these abilities were simple, enough so that they could be used in daily life without garnering much, if any, attention. It was simply believed that an exceptional generation had been born, a freak spike of evolution. However, this was simply the message relayed to the world. Some of the youth had been born extraordinarily powerful, with abilities straight out of a comic book or manga. Those with strong emotions seemed to have more power, though one emotion took the lead by far: desire. So these abilities came to be called Id. The governments of the world are seeking out ways to classify these powers, aware that there’s a limited amount of time before they’re completely public knowledge. As part of a United Nations initiative, the Diluculo, the most outstanding young adults from around the world were drafted and gathered, numbering around 300 in total. In a bid to prevent Id from being used for ill purposes, these youths are meant to become valuable assets for each of their countries, as well as the world at large. Split into varied groups that are stationed at different parts of the world, each branch of Diluculo are charged with handling Id based crimes for hundreds or thousands of miles, or kilometers, around. You are one of these recruits, on the threshold of an amazing adventure, some sort of powerful desire driving your forward. Your particular group is stationed in New York City, where you do your task and receive training for using your abilities more effectively. During your time with the Diluculo, you will meet people from all walks of life. But, your number one task is to keep the existence of Id under wraps, for the time being. After all, we wouldn’t want the world to really come to an end… do we? ----- I think that covers most of what the RP would entail. You play a group of young adults between the ages of 17 and 24, having to handle villains, as they were, as well as the potential exposure of Id to the general public. Somewhat guild-esque and episodic, with a home base that will be the setting for most of the down time. If multiple missions are assigned, players will normally be allowed to choose which one they would rather take on. And remember, any Id should be, in some way, tied to that person's desire(s). This is within 1.5 generations of the appearance of Id to the world, so they haven't really had time to develop or mutate too much. ----- Database App
  19. "What, you going to stop me from doing this? Don't think you can do anything to stop me," the duel king pointed out. "People come down here and disappear without a trace, and now when I come down here, a bunch of suspicious people just happen to come around. Yeah, a nice chat and a spot of tea is what I need to right about now," He growled as he cracked his knuckles. However, at this point, his attention wasn't on Zirco, instead on the other two. "My, you really are quite boorish. For a king, I expected someone a bit more refined. Though, I can't exactly blame your conclusion..." Shannon muttered, only for Luster to poke her in the back and motion to the boy on bottom, trying desperately to mime something. And that something was...? "I think he's telling you to slip away to those warehouses." "How on earth..." Shannon muttered, before turning away from Zirco and Kyouji, "I guess it takes someone silent to understand, charades, hm?" Walking away with a sigh and a shrug, Shannon didn't even bother turning around before continuing, "Well, I suppose I can't stop you, so I'll leave you boys to it." Climbing onto her bike and revving it up, Luster cast a glance at the jittery boy. To his understanding, Jet was meant to race Kyouji. Should he have told Shannon...?
  20. https://tiermaker.com/create/fire-emblem-complete-tiers-list-post-dlc-279984 It's only playable cast, so no Slithers, Rhea, etc., but it works. I haven't gotten to meet every character (read: Jeritza) yet, and I could get to know Constance and Balthus more, but this seems about right.
  21. "Well, this is chaotic," Lopt sighed, placing a palm against his cheek and leaning into it as he muttered, "These kids certainly have the power to back them up, but I'm not sure if they have the restraint..." Lopt cast a glance up to the sky, figuring Jekyll was watching, giving a disapproving look. Then turned back to the group and clapped his hands together as the brawl came to a close, nodding his head with a smile. "Well, that was certainly an exciting match! Maybe my concerns about how the group were misplaced, if Alex and Sieg are anything to go by. Though, maybe a bit of work on restraint is needed... After all, it seems a few of our companions have fled the room. I can hardly blame them, I wanted to up and fly away myself," The shifter gave a small laugh as he shook his head, "And looks like we have another brawl brewing, as well, so why don't we give them some space?" Behind his smile, Lopt sunk his teeth into his tongue. Playing nice was no issue, but this group was certainly full of lunatics. And he would know.
  22. manuela is a fucking trash goblin change my mind
  23. "Fluffal and Frightfur. A deck that specifically runs to utilize the Fusion Summon mechanic. Pair that against my Time Thief deck, which deals greatly in the realm of Xyz Summon, I'm sure I'll have the advantage." "Oh, does it now?" Charlie asked, smirking, "Well, we'll see~" "So then, would you like to start us off first?" David smiled back. "Hm... I think I'll choose to go second. Just to see what you can do first-hand." ----- "Ah, looks like Terry got a boss out... Hana's not gonna put up much of a fight against that," Charlie muttered, then looked back to the game. "Where was I... oh right! Frightfur Wolf attacks you directly for 40,000 damage. How's that for my first turn~?" The co-captain grinned wide at David, extending their right hand for a shake. "You should never assume you have an advantage over something so simple as summoning methods, David. And you definitely play rigidly, like I said... After all, you use your effects at the first opportunity... But you show potential! So, let's go again and work on being more adaptive, yeah?"
  24. Clara pointed at Terry "you. And..." Looking between Makoto and Hana, Clara settled on Hana, pointing at her saying, "and you. Both of you are going to be dueling first. With your duel disks." "I dunno if... well, it'll be okay, I guess." Charlie bit their nails a bit, looking away. Hana was... challenged, to say the least. But maybe an easy win would be good for Terry, so keeping their mouth shut seemed apt. Turning to the rest of the recruits, Charlie rubbed their chin... then pointed at one of them with a smile. "Hey, David, come duel with me! We can't do a showy duel like that, but just playing with cards is fine, right?" Grabbing a small table from the corner of the room, Charlie pulled it a bit away and set up two chairs at it, taking their spot at one of them before pulling their deck out to shuffle as they waited. "We, uh... probably won't be missing much from the other duel, so might as well get some practice in! Plus, I'd love to see how you fare against something other than Avi's Toons."
  25. Since Cow brought it to my attention that Dragonfly Cave finally added Gen 8 with the Home models, I went ahead and did my favorites for the entirety of the dex... In a way that's less troublesome than a massive set of tierlists. I just did top 25 + Chandelure, without repeating lines.
