    Blake's Takes

The parts of "making the best world and work for our characters" and "transferring our sufferings into the worlds we create" resonated on me in a way. You know, I once gave it a shot to RPing, but I didn't like how things were developing. I later realized I made undesirable choices, to not say mistakes, for my character. Back then, my self-steem was rather down, and when creating the character, I couldn't avoid making it a reflection of myself, and hopefully he would have the story growth and success that I have wanted for myself for so long. I made him smart and skillfull but humble and shy, and my vision was for him to grow as the RP developed. Instead, I saw it falling in similar pits as I did in my earlier stages of my life (e.g. he was bullied, and although I can't say I was bullied, for most of my time as a student I didn't exactly feel like I belonged and didn't have a circle of friends to fall back onto, and that shakes up one's mind in other ways), and I learned... that's not how characters are done. You have to make them strong, idealize them, not make them work for a better life but give them that better life from the get-go, and climb higher from there. In comparison, the fellow characters in that RP were much more bold and started strong, some were even called prodigies. I realized I was so concerned with creating an annoying Mary Sue/Gary Stu trope character that I ended up with whatever is the opposite. Nowadays, I just wait for the proposal of a One Piece RP so I can give a shot to a sick character I have had in my head for a while. I would love to see others try to bully such character, then.
  2. Wish it went more into detail about the experience with the tea. Like, what exactly is special about the flavor that goes down easily? As well as elaborating on how it's comparable to a warm bath. In other words, I find the statements vague. Unless... it is intended for me to be who fills in the blanks.
  3. I got The Visionary. Makes sense to me.
  4. Going for Trigger on this one. I loved Little Witch Academia, Kill la Kill and Darling in the Franxx, all of them produced by Trigger. Close second is MAPPA, as I greatly enjoyed Kakegurui, and will forever appreciate that they animated Dorohedoro. I also saw a bit of their Rage of Bahamut series but didn't finish it... yet. This reminds me I could check out more of the works from both studios.
  5. Actually a good point with the stacking. OTKing with double or triple Honest was a thing, yeah. That means the card is actually worse, if only slightly. Not sure which cards make this more searchable than Honest... can only think of Creeping Darkness. Also if Dark couterparts ever get some support, that would help this card too.
  6. Hug Vullaby - Little chick is cute with the skull and all, and the evolution is sometimes meta. Catch Magnezone - Not a big fan of it tbh, but I like Magneton and this is an upgrade, so I will take it. Unless Eviolite Magneton is actually a thing, but haven't heard about it. Fight Falinks - No Retreat! let's go! Steenee , Goomy, Solrock
  7. LIOV-JP022 Dark Honest Level 4 DARK Fairy Effect Monster ATK 1100 DEF 1900 (1) Once per turn: You can return this face-up card from the field to the hand. (2) During the Damage Step, when your DARK monster battles an opponent’s monster (Quick Effect): You can send this card from your hand to the GY; that opponent’s monster loses ATK equal to its own ATK, until the end of this turn. Source: https://ygorganization.com/theclearandhonestdarkness/ A bunch of cards have been revealed as of late, but wanted to drop this one here because I find it so amusing. Since the reveal of Honest card makers have brought their versions of a Dark Honest, or "Dishonest", and IIRC some of those were almost, if not exactly, like this, a Dark counterpart with an effect that drops the ATK of the opposing monster instead of giving ATK to yours. I find it funny, and hopefully with this card around, card makers will stop making their own dishonest Dark takes on Honest. Discuss? Not much to say, IMO. It's just as effective as Honest nowadays, which doesn't see any play in competitive levels. Really late to the party.
  8. Hug Parasect - I like it, and deserves some love IMO since it got a rather short stick with the typing and BSTs. At least it can learn Spore. Catch Rapidash - Would be cool to have it around for riding and going faaast Fight Vikavolt - IMO could have been much better. Insane base Sp.Atk and rather unique typing, sure, but that low speed doesn't help, maybe with Trick Room support. Or perhaps, if it could also have the Battery Ability, it could have allowed shenanigans in doubles/VGC. And for that, it deserves to be fought. Honedge, Latios, Frillish
  9. Pizza Hut for me. In Germany, where I am living at the moment, the two franchises aren't comparable at all and in a way fill different markets. For the case of Domino's, the style of pizza is different compared to American Domino's, and I have heard is more italian-style thin crust. It appears to compete with other regional or local fast pizza franchises, also offering thin crust pizza. It's slightly more expensive than the locals, but offers plenty of discounts or seasonal promotions. Pizza Hut, however, kind of carved a niche into being more american-style, offering Pan Pizza, Cheese Crust and other styles, in exchange of being more expensive. Actually, when I'm craving an american-style pizza for the nostalgia, Pizza Hut is practically my only option, since that kind of pizza is not a big thing around here.
  10. To be fair, a Drytron Xyz monster was recently released that allows you to use monsters attached to it as Tributes for a Ritual Summon, so using Xyz Materials for a Link Summon is less controversial now. I still stand against with from-ED Quick Effect because of the "opening can of worms" vibe that comes with it.
  11. Hug Mewtwo Y - I find it the cutest of the three Catch Mewtwo X - looks bulky a heck, ought to ends all fights Fight Mewtwo - it would destroy me less Lanturn, Mienshao, Thievul

  13. Actually, the LOB is a strong set because it introduced the power Spells Raigeki, Dark Hole, Monster Reborn and Pot of Greed, the latter to this day remaining banned. Anyway, for this set I would go for something among the lines of: Shadow Repelling Arrow Normal Trap Target 1 Set card on the field; return it to the hand. Next set is Metal Raiders.
  14. The 3 names start with "G". Coincidence? Hug Golisopod - always running away... it deserves some love Catch Golurk - amusing Fly user Fight Gliscor - I find annoying at times how resilient it can be if you don't have an ice attack around Herdier, Krabby, Gumshoos
  15. I'm afraid you can't give Quick Effects to monsters in the ED. Now that's something that would clash with game mechanics since there are no rulings for that. Not to mention it would be a pain and rather abusive because it's comparable to a "hand trap" that doesn't need to be drawn. That's why there are cards that let you LInk Summon during the opponent's turn, such as IP Masquerena. Unsure about using cards attached to Xyz as materials. It is possible of course, but comes off as weird to me and pushing it, since it can be compared to using monsters from the GY as material. The rest looks fine to me. It's still a defensive card, but easier to access and grants protection to the Field Spells, which AFAIK are important pieces in Ghostricks.
  16. https://ygorganization.com/backtothefuture4jurrasicyborgpark/ A Level 4 EARTH Dinosaur Tuner for Scraps. Curious to know if it could have some use for Dinosaurs, because with their handful of Level 4s, accessing the Synchro 8 pool could get easier, and teching Level 1 EARTHs would open the door to Naturia Beast. Not to mention that as a Scrap it gives access to Wyvern, which combos nicely with Golem, as Orcust demonstrated with a sort-of engine involving Scrap recycler, Wyvern and Golem. The destruction from Wyvern could trigger the baby Dinos, by the way. Regarding Scraps, this looks like solid support I guess, with the extra NS and the self-replacing effect with a search. At the very least it can grab Chimera right away which in turn can Summon this card back. Discuss.
  17. Hug Slakoth - chill dude looks damn huggable to me Catch Paras - I wouldn't hug nor fight this little critter Fight Sneasel - Just standing there all cool and smug, would like to have a friendly sparring to find out who would prevail Shelmet, Timburr, Wishiwashi (school)
  18. I like this one. I'm not familiar with what Odd-Eyes/Performapal/Magician are doing or can do now, but this card has a bunch of good stuff going for it. I'm mainly looking at the field effect negation, because if you have your scales set-up and this in your ED, first thing you can do is Pendulum Summon including this and negate your opponent's board in a way reminiscent of Dark Ruler No More, and if it resolves, that means you are almost free to go wild with follow-up combos. The following effect puts more damage on board, which is welcomed, while the Pendulum effect may look situational but can also put extra damage and even lead to an OTK. IDK any specific shenanigans with the Zone swapping effect but there ought to be a cool play out there. Lastly, I appreciate you didn't go for the overused DARK and LIGHT Attributes for this monster.
  19. It's already fine as a casual/for-fun card, but if you want to give it any competitive potential I suggest to start by dropping the "win or lose" nature of the effect and make both coin results positive. For example you can make it Summon the Reptile or Dinosaur when you call it right, but add it to the hand when you call it wrong. That way you aren't gambling or losing anything, only one outcome is better than the other, in most cases at least because some monsters may prefer to be in the hand than on the board. A hard OPT clause would be in order, too. Summoning from the Deck would be a big boon too, but then I would be concerned because Dinosaurs are actually on top tier levels last time I checked, and although this isn't a Dinosaur, being able to Summon 1 dino straight from the Deck could be too much of a boost. Then again, the effect is costing you a monster, this card will either take your NS or spend an SS effect, and it would have the chance of getting the other coin result so you could actually get away with grabbing form the Deck.
  20. Agreed with ABC, I would rather allow the Dark Scorpions attack directly over the 500 ATK boost that may not be enough to face nowadays' threats. You could drop a Tenki-like effect and grab a Dark Scorpion when you activate the card while you are at it, too.
  21. Not OPed at all, IMO. Highly defensive but it's not itself protected so the opponent should be able to deal with this with relative ease. Also it's a pain to Summon, getting 3 Ghostricks with different Level is not an easy task AFAIK, and with that many monsters on board you may as well go for a a different Link, such as PK Rusty Bardiche along a PK engine, or a Link ladder. Dragon Type doesn't fit the theme of Ghostricks, which so far are Fiend, Spellcaster, Zombie or Fairy. Sleepy is right in that it clashes a bit with the archetype by not being able to be Set. I agree with Sleepy on making it easier to Summon. The ability to use Set monsters as materials would an amusing and welcomed perk IMO. Links don't care about Levels at all, so mechanic-wise it should be possible to make a Link that can use Set monsters without conflicting with official rulings, even if such monster have no official precedent. The effect could be better too by providing some sort of removal or card advantage, because merely protecting your Set monsters is rather passive and would mostly be stalling, which although is a legit strategy, it's frowned upon for its non-interactive nature.
  22. Wow. People are not talking about this? Because I am impressed by it. Sure, it is situational and the search is a +0, but damn, grabbing any monster with equal ATK/DEF... the cardpool it covers is rather huge IIRC. Even the Level 6 makes me think of Virtual World, which work with Levels in multiples of 3.
  23. Feeling like being someone among the lines of Steven without the Champion role, as in to wandering the region and exploring, investigating on mysteries, giving a helping hand, etc. My companion Pokemon would be a jolly Linoone notorious for knowing Extreme Speed.
  24. Hug Cacturne - One of my favs and deserves love IMO, even if the hug may hurt Catch Huntail - Seems rather cool Fight Ditto - Was never a fan of this almost generic slime/blob creature Grubbin, Spinarak, Breloom
