  1. That is to say, I, too, would like to rate some tunes.
  2. This was better. Of course. It had to be. After a- huh? The shifter whipped around as the subtle sounds behind them changed. They had figured Melissa would be right on their tail, but instead, there was no Melissa at all. She had been there mere moments before, it didn't make any sense. Was... was she sent back already? No, that couldn't be. The shifter held their head as they looked around, trying to find any sign of her, to no avail. With a deep breath, they gathered their thoughts... and multiple mouths appeared over their body, speaking in deafening unison, but with a single voice. "Hey! Melissa disappeared! Something's fishy!" Walking forward, their mouths closed up as they breathed a bit more heavily. For now, doing something like that... Probably wasn't the best idea. They felt like they had to hold themselves together again. As they approached the edge of the park, they looked around a bit, warily taking another step forward, only to be rewarded with cacophony. Loud sounds of a bustling city hit their ears, causing them to instantly clasp their hands over them and shut their eyes. Much like eyes adjusting to bright light, something akin to that happened inside of their ears as they let go of them. As they looked up, they found Melissa heading off into the town... and with a bit lip, began to head forward. Sure, they were dangerous... But who knew when the others would come along? For now, they were the only one that could help her. At least, some of the memories screamed that. Others said to worry about themselves first, but... the warmth of the memory pushing them forward was enough to convince them to follow its advice, rather than the paralyzing feeling of the other. However, maybe a bit slow. After all, best not to make a scene. With a glance back at the non-existent park, the shifter held themselves together as best they could, heading off in the same direction as Melissa. She seemed kind, but she was in an unfamiliar place... and many of their memories knew how that went all too well. She deserved to hold onto that kindness, so they had to help!
  3. That was... an experience. Despite memories from different lives in their brain, the shapeshifter had never expected to see something like that. Yet, it seemed familiar, all the same... like a distant memory of someone deep within, as if it was their very appearance... Was it? The shifter began to take deep breaths as a sense of deep sorrow washed over them, the kind borne by a broken heart. Biting their lips from within the hood, they looked away from the creature carrying them, even as they placed them down... And then it was back to Melissa. “You said you can stand? Do you think you can lean on me the rest of the way, then? On the way, we can maybe try to jog your memory a bit more.” She offered her hand again, and gestured out into the city proper with the other. “If you do remember a place, did it look like this?” "Not... really? None of these memories bouncing around seem familiar to this place... It could be buried more, though." They took Melissa's hand and stood, looking around the area, "If anything, that... thing reminded me of something. But it's not something that I want to remember, I don't think..." They looked after the others who had gathered together, the near calamitous fight never taking place... But it would have been interesting. And they could have won, could they not? With a scowl, they shook the thoughts off, pulling the strings of the hood a bit tighter. "Do you... think we should join the others? It's probably not safe for you to stick with someone who's... unstable, like me. Not that I'm sure most of them are any better... and, um... Thank you." Without waiting for a reply, the shifter turned and walked towards the group, shakily for a moment, but then steady. At least this sensation of guilt felt normal. Echoing across almost every memory they had...
  4. Just going to bring up the list of YEARLY things my family insisted on. A turkey A ham Chicken and Dumplings Dressing Dressing, made without onion Stove Top Stuffing Sweet Potato Casserole Sweet Potato Casserole, no nuts Sweet Potato Casserole, no nuts or marshmallow Gravy Snap Peas Green Beans Collards Mashed Potatoes Mac and Cheese Deviled Eggs Cranberry Sauce Rolls Banana Pudding Chocolate Cake Strawberry Cake One more dessert that differed And repeat for Christmas and Easter. It’s absurd. Plus more I can’t recall atm.
  5. Cranberry sauce. a good Turkey dinner with gravy, stuffing, and cranberry sauce is good, but the cranberry sauce is the best. Jellied or whole berry.
  6. "Clair de lune est beau, non? Mais, je ne sais pas ce que je ferais sans Debussy!" Genevieve hummed along to the music she was provided for the ride. Of course, the turbulence was getting to her a little bit, but it wasn't the worst thing she had ever had to deal with. Far from it, honestly. And the beautiful music cleared her mind, letting her unwind a bit. All of this was so sudden, she was whisked from Broadway for some apparent talent she had, then brought out being told it was magic. Which, of course she knew she had, but was she not alone? Was there some big magic underworld she had never heard of? It seemed strange, but... perhaps? Either way, she wished she could simply stay on the stage, but maybe there was something worth learning about. And then, the music came to a halt, the blindfold lifted. "This monocle looks very ordinary, but believe me when I say it's anything but," An agent across from her explained as they carefully handed said monocle to Genny, "It took a lot for us to get our hands on this. As it turns out, stealing form a family of thieves isn't easy," With a chuckle they looked out the window. "Oh... we're here," "Quoi? Is zis some kind of prank?" Genny laughed and crossed her legs opposite of before, eyeing the monocle a bit. "What could be so special about zis, zat a family of thieves were guarding it? It looks completely plain to me." The helicopter landed before she could get an answer, and she was quickly ushered out. What odd people. What, was this like the holy grail? Or the Shroud of Turin? Some mythical artifact that held massive power? The thought seemed completely absurd, yet they acted like it. "Welcome everyone, to Chaldea! Today marks the day where we take our first steps to protect the Human Order. Are you ready to take that journey with us?" Ah, this was some elaborate play. Of course no one realized her power. Magic wasn't real. Someone just wanted to make her confess to something absurd, so they could take her to the tabloids. Like that Gwenneth woman. The man, called Wodime, continued on until another man spoke up, claimign to be Albert Einstein... Sure, he sounded German, but he looked nothing like the photos. How on earth did they not expect her to see through all of this? Genny held her smile, but rolled her eyes internally as they revealed an empty room with the supposed Round Table, claiming it could summon the ancient dead. This explained the Einstein cosplayer, at least. ... But then that first boy, Aozaki, entered. He started a sequence of insane special effects... Perhaps too insane... And then a man claiming to be John Watson appeared. The next girl, Aino, did the same, summoning Masamune. And again, Adonis repeated the effect with Moses appearing. Either this was a really, really elaborate hoax, or it was real... And, of course, this meant it was most likely a hoax. Genny's lips twisted a bit at the corners as she stepped forward to take her 'turn', faving the group. "Bonjour~ I am Geneveive Mireille, l'etoile montante de Broadway. I hope you have heard of me by now." With that, she headed towards the table. They would probably make her fail, if she was to guess... Embarrass her for playing along. But it would take more than that to make her buckle. Brandishing the monocle, she placed it on the table, then held her hand to it. With a deep breath, her words began to flow with a soft melody. Tu representes la marée Destinée à chercher la vie, hors de portée Mais l'océan est changeant, comme coule le temps, Saisis donc ton destin. As Genny finished her song, nothing seemed to happen. Nobody stood before her, nor was there any indication that her ritual worked, as the light that shined brightly for everyone else only glowed dimly for her before dying out. As she thought, they sought to make a fool of her. This really was a hoax. And she would not stand idly by! However, before she could protest, a voice called out from behind her. Turning around, she would see a young man in a red suit with a tall collar, with a black undershirt and black hair to contrast it. On his face, we wore a black mask across his eyes, the thing doing nothing to cover his playful grin. “Greetings, my dear Master,” He spoke, his voice as smooth as butter. “I am Assassin, Raoul d’Argery. If you wished it, I would steal the moon for you. I do hope we get along,” Without a thought, Genny took a step back, bumping into the table, only for the thief himself to catch her. This... this couldn't be real. But she felt it. Something had changed when the ritual had completed... It absolutely was real, after all. "Mon dieu..."
  7. "First off! Omuro Yumi, Yokuna Yasha… Seigi… Taiana… And… Kemuri Nataria… why does this class have so much katakana…" he scratched at the back of his head, making a sound like scraping metal, "Anyway, you four will be fighting your science teacher, Hemlock." Diana froze at this. Not only was it the teacher whose quirk she had no real clue about, but she was paired with... "Wait. You mean to tell me we get to fight our teachers?! And we're being graded on how well we fight?! And we won't get in trouble if we punch them?! GUYS, THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOOOOOOOME!!" She closed her eyes and began to shake a bit as Yasha revved up. Sure, she had gotten more used to sharing a room with him, but he still... The girl gripped her right elbow and shook a bit harder, just trying to breathe. It would be okay. It had to be okay. She could look up Ms. Yuuka later, and the noises weren't going to hurt her. She just had to be careful. That was all. Yeah... Not that this sub was inspiring confidence with that villainous pose he was striking. "[S-so, um,] me, Natalia, Yasha, and Yumi...?" Diana thought aloud, then raised her voice, "Sir, could we maybe change seats for the time being, so that we can sit with our groups? It feels a bit, uh, [cacophonous] to be yelling across the room, when we could discuss amongst ourselves." Dreadbolt looked out over the class, seeing that multiple students had already moved, or were shouting over each other. "That's... probably a good idea. Did everyone hear Seigi? Move around so you are beside your teammates, okay?"
  8. “Well, um, I don’t really recognize any of you so I can’t answer that question, sorry, but my name is Melissa Ashforth, and it seems like at least a few of us think that if we go this way we can get some answers for some other questions too. Hopefully including yours,” she added as she offered a hand out to guide them. "and I'm Fen Yi. I do hope that we can figure out what's um, going on with you." The kneeling person managed to hold their form together, even in its patchwork state, enough to take Melissa's hand to stand. These two... weren't familiar. In fact, none of them were, now that they managed to gather their thoughts. All of these memories, yet none of them retrieved a single shred of any of these people? Some behaviors around seemed to hit memories, namely those two picking a fight in the distance... Wait, why could they tell that? That was too far away to notice for a normal person... Wasn't it?" "I... I don't know what any of this is..." Their voice wavered, "And it doesn't... seem like any of y'all... you... you all do, either... Except that one guy claiming to be a demon... So I...!" Taking a step forward past Melissa, the amorphous being shakily began to head towards the fight. They could easily beat them all! Wait... where did that come from? They needed answers, not to fight! They were blind! But, of course, they were chosen to be the hero... With a cry, they fell to their knees again, clutching at their face with one of their hands... Trying their best to keep their thoughts consistent, not wavering so wildly... In a move of desperation, skin from around their neck shifted, overtaking their face in a cloth-like hood, with drawstrings hanging down from it. With heavy breaths, they grabbed the drawstrings and pulled them tight, nearly sealing the hood around their head... before a sigh of relief escaped them. It seemed to help at least a little, so maybe they could at least... get those answers. Soon, at least. They fell back onto the grass and sat there a moment, just... breathing. In and out. Clearing their head. The memories swirled, but in this passive state, with their face obscured, it didn't feel like the thoughts were vying for control as much. I could still beat them. With a growl, they flopped back and let the sun shine in from above, only hitting their mouth. "If only it was that easy..."
  9. In the beginning... All was well. It was another normal day. They were going through the motions. Carrying on as always. Average in every way. And then it happened. Pain. Head-splitting pain. Vision blinded by light, a scream escaping the lips of the humanoid standing among their new companions. This way. That way. Every which way. Pulling to and pulling from. They were being torn apart, falling to their knees and grabbing their head, body unstable. So many memories. So many calls. Those four words, repeated so many times, that they lost count. So many of them had heard the call. Been pulled by it. Or had they...? Whose memories were these...? Who... were they? The memories just kept coming, the lives, the emotions, the thoughts, with many of them repeating under different circumstances... To the point that this person, now buckled over, had no idea who they actually were. They felt their body transforming against their will. Hair changing to crystalline, eyes green, wings threatening to grow from their back, fangs growing in their mouth, bunny ears popping out of their head, just a mess of thoughts trying their best to shape their form. Who were they supposed to be!? What was happening!? "Octavia... Inu... Syo... Joanna... Wormy..." The wild shifting seemed to come under control as more and more names and voices escaped the crumpled humanoid, gasping for breath shaking hard. Rather than picking themselves up, they began to cry, looking down, their form looking more like Frankenstein's Monster than any single human form from the onlookers above them. Their voice quivered and changed as they spoke, never moving. "Who... are all of you... And who... am I...?"
  10. Well, the game could have gone better. Not that Lopt had lost, mind, only that... it didn't seem as if Alex really improved from it. And that Tricky one invading certainly didn't help, keeping him on his toes the whole time. Whatever his game was, Lopt was not looking to find out. After taking his leave and escaping to a rooftop, time whittled away slowly. A quiet night, a quiet town... Pretty much what the trickster was used to. Countless nights over the years, spent travelling, slightly changing himself, but always remaining with the same basic gist. He had made quite the name for himself... But that time was now past. A feeling of nostalgia washed over him, earning a pained smile from the jaeger. Eventually, as the air began to chill, the church bells tolled, foretelling the approach of the wolf's quarry. "Why, what a surprise," Lopt's mouth curled wider and wider, stretching wider than humanly possible as sharp teeth appeared in his mouth, a low growl escaping as he spoke. "Got some pups looking for a fight? You don't even match Geri or Freki, much less me." However, the shifter found himself stopping... and leaning back, tucking his cane on his lap as he watched from the rooftop. He still had his secrets to keep... And there was another wolf to put these upstarts in check. Maybe she would actually be just as interesting as he hoped. For now, Bunny-Jaeger Lopt, the travelling bard, would mind his own business.
  11. Diana spent the rest of the trip in a daze. Hakaro had gotten a bit too close, something had happened, and she had been too frazzled to handle it... Maybe she could ask about it the next day at school? If, y'know... Hakaro wasn't going to ask her anything after that happened. Oh God, that would be... ----- The next day, rather than answers, Diana found a substitute teacher... and a new student, to replace Emi? Had she really not noticed losing someone...? What was wrong with her yesterday? She was failing as a hero, so soon...! "Aw, geez, I dunno about that really. Uh... I think if it was the coolest thing ever, I would've gotten in without having to get a little lucky." The new girl laughed gently, her other hand rubbing at the back of her neck as she glanced up at the ceiling. "It's not, like... Terrible, at least! My dad had it bad, he didn't get any of the stuff mine can do. He was pretty nervous when I was born." "I... think it's something special." Diana responded softly, trying to gather herself, "The test didn't seem like it was, uh... [fair], if you know what I mean. [At least, that's what I think...] B-but I'm Diana! Nice to meet you, Rika." "Don't make the dog man angry. He looks very pettable, but he lights on fire, and fire is bad," "Shut the fuck up, monkey man." "ah what's the matter Dog Breath. Someone need a scratch behind the ear?" "[Good grief.] You'll, uh, get used to it."
  12. "Well, I'm sorry, but I only appeared at the end," Omnimon Alter admitted. "So I don't have a clue," He turned to Mackenzie and Wormmon, somehow smiling a warm smile despite not having a visible mouth. "Perhaps these two could better fill you in. Honestly, I am very curious to. The fact you all survived for so long against such dangerous odds... well, you all were very brave and resourceful," "U-um, well... we kinda... ran away and found a special room...?" Wormy muttered to herself, Mackenzie hugging her tight, "And then we just... tripped the monster... It wasn't anything all that s-special..." The digimon turned around in Mackenzie's arms, burying its face. The tamer, in turned, gently pet at the bug, nodding along. That said, Theo... didn't look like he was in the best condition. Like her partner, she found herself looking away, though for different reasons. Could she possibly put her knowledge to use on a person...? No, she only knew about creatures. Only like them. But Wormy was sort of a person and sort of a creature...? Hugging the small bug even tighter, Mackenzie walked slightly away from Omnimon and Theo, whispering softly. "Good job, Wormy..."
  13. As Zirco sank into the inky darkness, Shannon felt Luster's hand on her shoulder, as if to say 'don't follow'... But of course she would, it was her duty to keep him safe. Gently pushing the hand away, she held her head high as she walked into the doorway... and found herself cut off. For the first time in ages, she felt that her connection with the dragon was broken. Perhaps this was why he had tried to warn her? Well, it would only be a matter of time. She just had to figure out what was going on. As she began to traverse the pitch darkness she found herself in, ghostly figures appeared along the path. They looked around her size or smaller, for the most part, with their bodies split down the middle... One half diamond-like and shining, the other half black and red with tendrils forming on them.. and some dark purple canisters growing from their backs. As she walked, one of them latched onto her, earning a small recoil. "Why...? Why did you succeed... Why are we stuck here!?" "I see... You're the failures before me." Shannon replied, tone cold, "That says it all, doesn't it? You didn't have the drive... But it's not your fault. You simply weren't destined for greatness like me. Now, kindly let go of me." Wrenching her arm free, Shannon trudged on past the spirits, pulling away if they touched her, ignoring them. They were the past. They should stay in it. After a short bit, Shannon found herself at the back of the warehouse. The darkness seemed to ease a bit as she found a black altar producing smoke... which seemed to flow into that dreadful darkness. On top of that, she felt the connection renewed... Looking over her shoulder to see Luster once more, his eyes looking like he had been worried. With a soft smile to him, she moved over to the altar, letting her hand rub the surface... She pulled her hand away in shock as a chill shot through her body, shaking slightly. "I wouldn't touch that again..." The dragon muttered, but adding nothing more. With a nod from the girl, she stepped closer again, noticing some dried blood spattered on it... Barbaric. "I haven't seen Zirco yet... I wonder how long he'll take to make it through that? He's almost as destined for this as I am, so I can't imagine he faltered."
