  4. Squad Grand! Or just Grand. Morgan wasn't sure which one, anymore, but what mattered was they would be the team's sparring partners for the day. Of particular note was their leader, a tall old man named Grigoriy. He was to not just be Morgan's opponent, but Trevor's as well! Despite his insistence that two fighters would make it a fair fight for him, Morgan couldn't help but worry some for the old man. "Now don't keep me waiting, partner." Morgan simply gave the acclaimed sorcerer a nod in response. This technology was certainly something. Far more advanced than anything back home, for sure. When Morgan "woke up" within the arena, she was met with a crumbling old husk of a building. Wooden, that could be useful if it was the real stuff and not just some mass-produced knockoff. But even more interesting was the surroundings. Graves. And plenty of them. And where there were graves... For the time being, Morgan slipped away from the action. She had something much more important to do. Dig up graves. She didn't want to take too long, though. For the time being, she dug up a pair of graves near the house itself, where the soil seemed the least disturbed. Although, what she was doing wasn't "digging" so much as "shoving her hand through the earth until it hit something". It was fairly successful though. The first grave had a fully-intact skeleton, and the second was only missing some few bones she didn't care about. Sticking bones onto her body, Morgan took the time necessary to gift herself a small edge in battle. Two extra pairs of arms, made longer than normal by creative application of leg bones as well. An outer ribcage to reinforce her own body, just in case. And of course, the two skulls, tentatively mounted on Morgan's shoulders. She could figure out what to do with those later, but it seemed useful to bring them along. Now then, to the action. She could hear the boys fighting already, and didn't want to leave Trevor hanging for too long. And so, with the aid of the new arms, Morgan rather effortlessly climbed up to the top of the house, to get a better view. And with the old man focused on Trevor, Morgan took this as an opportunity to jump down from the roof, in an attempt to catch him by surprise.
  5. The situation was getting sticky. Robin suddenly found herself on the ground, a skeletal hound making a meal out of her arm, her gun loosed from her hand. Try as she might to shake it free from her arm, that was proving horribly ineffective. This was but one reason why she hated dogs. There was yet hope, however. Her other hand was still very much free. She wasn't quite as good of a shot with it, but at this distance, that surely wouldn't matter. It would cost her a precious bullet, but she didn't care. "I've had it with you damned mutts! Time to put you down!" With no time to waste, Robin reached for the next firearm in her holster, not even bothering to pull the gun out all the way, opting to point it at the hound's head as soon as she could before pulling the trigger.
  6. With Q&A hour having ended, Luca presented one final offering to the so-called Exalted. Lodging for the night! That was the biggest relief Abby had felt since showing up here. Having to sleep out in the wild on top of everything else that had happened today would be incredibly shitty, and so she was grateful to not have to do that. "I wish I could stay longer but I have chief things to do, especially with those stupid lousy no good Drenger attacking us. But I can't wait to learn more all about you guys!" The girl looked ready to leave, before looking to the east horizon and suddenly remembering something adding on, "oh and be careful when it rains!" Well, I should be fine for that, at least. The place was indeed rather small. Too small for this group on its own, evidenced by Luca additionally offering up a second vacant house for the group's needs. Even so, there was no way everyone was getting their own room. While Sabrina was content to explore the area - a prospect Abby considered herself, if only for a moment - Marshall was focused on a more important matter. Where everyone was going to be sleeping tonight. “...Now, as for the exact nature of how we should do so, we have more than a few options. This primarily is determinate based on the comfort and preferences of those around us, and so, were we to choose a systematic way of determining things, I may suggest either placing us in one of the two houses based on age-groups, as some of the younger members of our group may be uncomfortable with so many adults around, or, by gender-presentation, as that seems to be a tried and true system in many parts of our old world… “ And putting quite a bit of thought into it, at that! Abby had just assumed boys in one house, girls in the other, but now that Marshall was talking about the subject, it occurred to her that perhaps not everyone thought the same. Splitting by gender did provide a fairly even split though; unless someone was waiting for a big coming out moment, it seemed that there were three guys and four girls in this group of seven. And so... "If we're doing it systemically, splitting between the boys and girls seems smartest, doesn't it? Three guys, four girls, if I'm counting right. It also saves us having to figure out age groups and all. Personally I'm fine with whatever we end up doing, but I'm not sharing a room with any of the men. No offense, guys of the gang."
  7. Since it's about to be the spooky day, and I've been too quiet as of late, let's talk about something scary. SOCIAL INTERACTION! "Know Thy Ally" - Making The Party Actually Characters Since I don't have any relevant gameplay pics this time, lemme just... There. That's the spritesheet containing every character who can currently be recruited to join the party, except Thyra, who has her own file separate from everyone else but can be seen in a couple pics in other posts. (Please remember that the only character who is considered mandatory is Tove, the protagonist). I like games where you get to know the party you're working with, so it stands to reason that I should have this be one of those games. And I plan to! I've yet to implement any of what I'm about to say, so every word out of my mouth in this post is subject to change and very open to feedback, just as a disclaimer. I want it to be the case that in certain areas of the game, like inn rooms, your party members don't tail behind you, but rather are in the room with you as standalone events that you can interact with. Implementing this would be very easy, thanks to how events work. Additionally, I'd like to have questlines related to those characters. I mentioned before the idea of characters getting an ultimate move by completing a special quest that would unlock when the character hits level 50, so perhaps this could be related to that? There's also at least one character here who can actually change classes entirely by doing certain quests, or at least, I plan to have that be the case! But the more important thing is the ability to talk to party members directly. That's what I'm truly after here. To add any of the above characters to your party, you'll have to complete special quests that unlock them, so it stands to reason you'll already be acquainted with someone before they join the party, but that's not good enough for me. A party member who you can't interact with is just a glorified spellbook, instead of an actual character. Your best friend for this pursuit will be the various inns scattered throughout the game. Renting out a room will be cheap - especially considering they still serve the typical inn function of fully healing your party - to make it easier to interact with party members in the most reliable setting. I also considered the idea that in certain dungeons there may be a room or two where you can interact with the party, but I'm: Still on the fence about that, and Not even close to a point where any such dungeons will be in the game yet (perhaps the final dungeon of 0.1?)
