  1. Rona didn't understand. They were retreating, running with their tails between their legs like the dogs they were, but they weren't pursuing? Rona had started Cormag forward to chase them down and finish them off before they could get too far away. But Leon had ordered her to stop and let them go. "They're right there! We can still..." She said, turning towards him in disbelief. Then, realizing what she had done, she lowered her head and followed it with "I didn't mean to question your command." That's right. Even if the order didn't make sense to her she had to follow it. She just wasn't used to being ordered NOT to attack. She could only hope the commander had something in mind. She looked around at the others and saw how weary they all looked. Cormag himself was looking rather worn from the battle. She still held onto her axe and, reluctantly, as the enemy soldiers disappeared into the distance, she put away her axe. Which made her feel much better as the heavy weapon was stored instead of having to lift it more. "When do we move out?" She asked, not willing to relax for even a moment. "Whew, that's a relief." Alexis said as the soldiers retreated. She slumped up against Tana's neck and winced as the wound in her side made a burning sensation through her body. But had they really done that? Fought, killed, Aeoran soldiers? And for what? She looked at the Jourans in the group and frowned. Sure, throwing them to the wolves didn't feel right, but on the other hand was she really going to go up against her own country for them? It wasn't as though she knew most of them, beyond Leon, and while she wasn't in the army proper she still had ties to them. People she knew, people Leon knew, were part of that army. She grunted and righted herself on the back of Tana. "I hate to say it but we don't have much time to rest. Especially if they have a larger group nearby. As soon as that Paladin gets reinforcements he'll probably be after us again." She had no idea what Leon was thinking challenging the Aeoran army like this. She stared at the young man. Practically drilling a hole through his head with her eyes. She hoped he knew what he was doing.
  2. The Tyrogue seemed to cringe as the fire splashed against him, and looked away from Rus when the attack landed. "Ah, Tyrogue, don't worry it's just a small fire! Fake O-wait...no, Tackle!" The girl seemed to stumble over her words in her haste and the Tyrogue didn't seem very confident in its next move. But it tucked down into a football tackle position and ran at Rus full speed. "Hit it with a Mach Punch right after!" Dinah called out, pumping her fist in the air for emphasis. Though it seemed that her Pokemon was somewhat hesitant, getting so near the Fire type Pokemon. "As I thought, there's certainly something unnatural about this. Someone or something put these here. But to do what?" "Issa rock." Naomi said, slumping while standing as she watched Milla go about her business. "It does rock things." "Nomi, do you think uh... Bug was it? There might be something going on under the sand. You think maybe Bug could give it a look?" "Eh?" Naomi responded. She looked at Bug. Who looked at her. Neither of them seemed to say anything for a while. Then Naomi stepped closer to Milla and presented Bug to her. "Ask'im." She muttered with a shrug. She was holding Bug out front, hands on his side, as the Trapinch stared at Milla for a few moments. Then its mouth slowly opened and...its head darted forward and it grabbed Milla's shirt and started to tug at it. "Ah, noooo." Naomi said, but didn't do anything to stop the Pokemon. --- Paula was surprised, and dismayed, to see the speed of the Poliwag. The Water Gun striking her Kabuto almost immediately after emerging from its ball. "Tsk, my strategy...that's why I came to this desert to train...Oh well, come on Kabuto don't let that stop you, Absorb, then Scratch!" BGM The Pokemon did an affirmative squirm and glowed as it hit Bubbles with fairly weak but super effective Absorb. It then darted forward at incredible speed and delivered a scratch with its small front claws upon the Poliwag. The two Pokemon both were moving much faster than what Kanon had seen so far. She would have to give the orders as fast as she could if she wanted to keep up with Paula. Who seemed used to this sort of thing from training Kabuto. "Alright Leer, don't let up!" The girl called out afterwards.
  3. With the roc dead Keres decided now would be a good time to get Geoff back on his feet. So she spent some time working to revive him and, as soon as he was able, he leapt up to his feet. He pointed at the creature and declared. "You were defeated the moment you dared to challenge us! The power of the Chosen is so great, it almost brings a tear to my eye, but I cannot afford to weep until the land is safe for all!" Even as he said this they could see, manly surely, tears rolling down his proud face. Keres side-stepped away from the man as he stood with his hands on his hips and chest puffed out. Though she paused when she heard him say, "Hey, what's that strange orb there?" Keres looked to the roc. And sure enough, a small glowing orb was floating above the body of the creature. She recognized it as one of the Souls that the spirits told them about. Evidently this monster had been strong enough to contain one. Soon she felt the power flow into her body, leaving Geoff scratching his head in confusion. "Is everyone alright?" she asked the others. Then, "We should check its nest while we're here." With some care the group managed to make their way to the top of the largest pillar, where Reinaan had jumped from. He had been too focused to notice the surroundings but once there they found it was a nest mostly made from grass and dirt. And it was filled with bones. Most animal but some human. Several that Keres identified as horses as well. Sifting through it they would find various scraps of clothing, items that were mostly useless for anything but selling, and two objects. One was a thin dagger. The blade of which seemed cold to the touch and gave off a slight glow when waved around. The other was a pendant. In fact it was the very necklace that the woman had told them about. "I suppose we know what happened to him." She said flatly. It was unfortunate. Even if expected. And she didn't look forward to telling the wife that she was now a widow. A few moments later, with a tired sigh, she followed it with "I wonder if the others are okay."

  6. Usually Penelope would jump at the chance to tell Citron her knowledge about the flowers. The only reason she didn't was her close study of the statue before her. The gem, in particular, which was seemingly flashing. There was certainly something special about it. She reached out a hand without hesitation and touched it. Though nothing seemed to come of it. It was fascinating but she didn't want to spend too much time on this statue. She heard the door opening and Alois walking through to the other side and tapped Gunther's head. "Down." She said, with a smirk, and Gunther lowered her to the floor. She strode into the room that Alois had went into and looked around. She had hoped something would stand out as a powerful magic item. Yet she couldn't tell. There was much too much magic in this place that was clouding her senses. It was much like finding a needle in the haystack. Then she saw the bookshelf at one end and made a beeline for it. Knowledge is power especially in a situation like this. Instead of books she found parchments, bound in leather, lining the shelves. Slightly disappointing but still likely informative. She started pulling them down and sitting, riffling through them at a rapid pace. Much of it seemed to be information regarding various ceremonies, lighting torches, pouring wine, and that sort of thing. It was amazing but not entirely surprising. Smaller towns often had their own strange rituals. Though, with her theory, these rituals came with an underlying importance that she felt she had to know. The majority was simply notes. Information regarding attendance, discussions and meeting times, and that sort of everyday business. The name caller came up a few times again, as well as Dragon Wine, which merely brought the pieces together more firmly. She giggled as she saw how often the mayor complained about Alois in these meetings. "You really must have done something to upset the mayor, didn't you Alois? He sure seems to talk about you a lot. Oh, maybe he actually really likes you!" She giggled at the thought and returned to the writings. Gunther let out a slight sigh as Penelope asked him to set her down. In part he was relieved, not having to worry about the girl falling from up high anymore, but he couldn't help but realize that she was asking him much in the way one would ask a dog to sit. He couldn't help but laugh at himself as he realized, when she went to the next room, he was following behind her much in the same way a dog would. Well, I suppose people do often call Knights dogs of the royal family after all. Unsurprisingly as Penelope went into the room she went right for the literature. He would leave the research to her. By the time he reached the bookshelf she would have read more than he could hope to in an hour. So he instead went for the door at the other side. With Alois and Penelope, and anyone else who came in, surely they'd scour this room well. On the other side of the door, across the room, was another much smaller room. There didn't seem to be much in the room beyond a rug. The kind that one would wipe their foot on. Which made sense as the door on the other side was familiar to him. The realization hit that it was the entrance to the town hall. Nodding to himself he backed away and turned. "Not much in there. Whatever we're looking for has to be here, somewhere..." As time went on Cora became more curious about this place. She didn't remember this room, though she was sure she knew where they were, and she wondered why a place like this was hidden even from her. She knew that the town wasn't on the side of the Goddess but there was obviously something here she didn't know about. It hurt, honestly, to think that they were keeping secrets from her. As she paced the pews she glanced over at the badger and beaver. The concern and hurt in her expression wasn't hidden but she looked away quickly. What had she been protecting all this time? It wasn't just the town, clearly, but something....else. Whatever it was Cora hoped it was worth bringing such troubles to the town. She hoped it was worth the secrecy. But she wasn't so sure she could imagine what that might be.
